Printing 5x7 on 8.5x11 paper

Is there a way to print 5x7 photos in iPhoto on 8.5x11 paper with only one photo per page?

select the photo and print - select the printer, set paper to 8.5x11 and print size to 5x7 and click customize - click on settings (the gear looking thingy in the tool bar) and select single picture per page, click print and make any printer specific selections and click print to print them

my new HP photosmart 5520 will not print photos. It keeps flashing "out of paper, reload" when the printer is already loaded with paper single and several sheets. Is this a faulty machine that I bought or can it be rectified. I never had this problem with my previous Kodak printer. Could you please advise what can be done to remedy this or should I purchase another make of printer. Thanks Michael

    Hello shuter1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having photo printing issues with the Photosmart 5520, it will not feed the paper. Will the printer print on regular 8.5x11 paper?
What is the paper type and size you are trying to print these photos on?
See if following the steps outlined in this guide will help: Printing Photos Saved on Your Computer or Memory Card.
I will look back for your reply.

  • How do I print a million dots on a single sheet of 8.5x11 paper?

    Hi,
I have something I want to print which is a little off the beaten path,
so to speak.  I know next to nothing about printing so I need help.  I
am doing this for educational purposes to TRY to get across the concept
of large numbers to elementary school kids.
I want to put exactly one million VISIBLE, distinct dots on one 8.5 x 11
sheet of paper, plus be able to put some comments on the sides, top, or
bottom, and perhaps highlight a few of the dots with color around them
instead of white.  I realize that the dots will be quite small.  It
would also be nice if the page could be reproduced on a copier tho that
    is not a requirement.
I have the following equipment and software: I run 32-bit Linux.  I have
a variety of programs which go with my Linux (latest Slackware) such as
EMACS for (maybe?) creating repetitive printer commands and GIMP for
creating and editing images.  My printer is an OKI C5300 color laser
printer which, as I understand it, can print emulating Postscript 3 and
PCL 5c.  It has a resolution of 600 DPI.
I think I would prefer a rectangular grid like this where * is a dot and
_ is white or light color
which would be more distinct, I think, than a chessboard pattern like this
but a chessboard pattern would be better for improved density.  Being able
to try both would be good because you really can't tell how it looks until
    you actually see it.
Assuming that I can control each and every printer dot and that I can
    print 7.5x10 inches, then I have room for 7.5x10x600x600 == 27,000,000
printer dots on the page.  Since I want a million visible dots on a
square grid that means that each visible dot can be
    int( sqrt( 27000000 / 1000000 )) == 5 printer dots on each side.  Thus
each visible dot would look like the following in printer dots:
_***_     This would allow for 16/25 white and 9/25 black, and there
_***_     would be two rows of white vertically and horizontally
    _***_     between each visible dot.
    OR
__**_     This would have much more separation between the visible dots
__**_     but the visible, 4/25 black part of the dot would be much
_____     smaller.  It's hard to tell whether this or the above would
_____     be more visible when actually on paper.
The above are for the rectangular layout.  A checkerboard layout would
alternate cells with visible dots with empty cells, thus giving me 1/2
the visible dot density.  Thus my rectangles would be reduced to 3x3.
In order to separate dots at the corners I would have to use something
like one of the following patterns:
    OR
Both would give more ink per visible dot than the 4/25 black pattern
above but with much more separation between dots.
Again it's hard to say which of the 4 schemes above would look the best
until I actually see it on paper.
I see three ways of doing these 4 schemes: (1) Issue lots of nearly
repetitive printer commands.  (2) Build a glyph with 10x10 visible dots
in it which uses up the entire character cell space and aligns the dots
properly on each side and above and below, and then just print 10,000 of
them in a rectangle which fits on 8.5x11 paper where the last row does
not have to be the size of the other rows.  (3) Make an uncompressed,
high resolution image of 1,000,000 dots and just print it, but would
there be problems in translation from image to printer?
I have another question:  Assuming again that I can access each printer
dot, can I also control the size of that dot (within reason)?
That's kind of the limit of what I currently can guess for this project.
All useful hints, ideas, suggestions, etc, will be appreciated.  Please
reply via this website or via the eMail address I set up for this
project: [email protected]   Also if you know of another
forum where I could ask this question please let me know about it.
    Thank you in advance,

  • Printing on 7 x 10 paper from PSE 4

I have prepared a template in PSE 4 to print greeting cards on card stock that is 10x 7 inches in size. After printing and folding I have a finished card that is 5x7.
I have a Canon PIXMAi8500 printer. I set the paper size in the printer program and try to print from PSE4 Editor. The results show the printing off center as if program or printer thinks the paper being used is 8.5x11 rather than the smaller 7x10.
Any hints will be greatly appreciated.
    Barbara

    Barbara,
You would be printing from the Editor. I hope it works the same for you as
it does on my old Canon BJC-8200. I don't know if your printer does
borderless, in my case I allowed .25" on all sides, which means my image is
6.5x9.5". Go to >File >Print. You'll see the preview on 8.5x11 paper. Now
rotate your image as necessary. Click on >Page Setup, then on >Printer
    >Properties (each in its own dialog box). In Properties click the Page
Setup tab and you will see a dropdown menu with various sizes. One of the
should be Custom. Clicking on it will bring up a dialog where you can enter
your actual size, 7x10". Now click OK several times until you get back to
first Print Preview and your image should be properly aligned on the 7x10
    sheet. Now click Print.
If you are not sure and don't want to waste photo paper, you can select a
6.5x9.5 area and stroke it with 3 pixels and run that through the routine on
    some regular paper.

  • Can't print a PDF on 11x17 paper

I am using Acrobat 10.1.9 on a mac OS 10.8.5 and can not print a PDF on 11x17 paper.  Even if I change the default paper size to 11x17 in my system prefrerences, it doesn't recognize the default setting, and prints on 8.5x11 paper no matter what.  I have read numerous forums on the internet about people experiencing this problem, and they all say it started happening when Acrobat upgraded the version.  However, I know that it is NOT the issue, because I am also using Acrobat 10.1.9 on a different mac that has a different OS 10.9.1, and I can successfully, and easily, change paper sizes when printing from that mac.  Any advice?

    Hi Ajlan,
To fix my problem, i uninstalled adobe reader X with "Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool", rebooted the server, installed Adobe Reader XI and rebooted again.
For some users, this fix the problem but with some others i had to define Adobe Reader by default again.
I tried without use "Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool" before and adobe reader X wasn't really uninstall.
    Thanks,

  • Tutorial: Print index cards without removing paper from tray for Officejet Pro 8000.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 and Officejet Pro 8000 wireless do not have a slot for inserting index cards and envelopes.
If you are wanting to print index cards without removing the paper from the tray, follow these steps.
The steps below are for 3 x 5 index cards.
    1.) Open Microsoft Word
2.) Go to the Insert tab and insert a rectangle shape
3.) Draw a rectangle of any size
4.) Right click on the rectangle and select "Format Autoshape..."
5.) Under the Size tab, enter 5" for the height and 3" for the width (make sure "Absolute" is selected)
6.) Under the Layout tab, select "Center" for the horizontal alignment
    7.) Click OK
8.) Use the keyboard up arrow key to move the rectangle to the top of the page.  Make sure the top edge of the rectangle touches the top edge of the document.
9.) Print this document on plain 8.5" x 11" paper
10.) When you want to print an index card, place this 8.5x11 document in the paper tray printed side face up.  Then place an index card over the rectangle and align with the border of the rectangle.  After you print the index card, remove the 8.5x11 paper for the next time you need to print an index card.
Note 1: This are USA instructions.  If you live in the UK or other countries you may have different paper size standards.

I can't tell you how much I HATE this printer.  I will never buy an HP product again.  BROTHERS printers are simply and easy to use.

  • Can I print 5x7 with iPhoto 6?

I have iPhoto 2 now, and it does not allow me to print 5x7. I custom create 5x7 paper size in page setup, constrain my photo to 5x7, but absolutely cannot successfully print a 5x7. I've seen other people post about this same problem.
My question is, if I drop the $80 on iLife'06, will I be able to print 5x7? I'd hate to order it only to find it doesn't help.
    Thanks!
    Chris

I've never had any difficulty printing 5X7s but that's a standard size with my print driver. I want to tell you that you'll have no problems but I'm a bit worried that your printer might be a limiting factor.

  • Printer requesting to load legal paper so print job fails

The printer is a HP Laserjet 4 series PCL-5, device driver: HPLJ4.
    It has 3 trays: #1 is a bypass, #2 and #3 have 8.5x11 paper.
This printer has been in use for some time, but suddenly the printer is now requesting to "load plain legal" when a print job from SAP originates.  If the user disregards this message and prints anyway then only part of the print job comes out.  If legal paper is loaded, the print job comes out.  But the users do not want it printed to legal, they want the 8.5x11.  I have tried specifying the 'Tray Info' as letter in SPAD.  The printer works just fine for any Windows applications like Microsoft Word, but not with SAP.  Another printer (same brand and device type) does work as expected and the config in SPAD is the same for these 2.  The printer support group says nothing has changed in the config in the printer itself and that the issue has to be on the SAP side.
Any feedback on this would be appreciated!

Since you say another printer of the same brand using the same device type works with the same settings in SPAD I think the problem is with the printer itself.
This issue comes up occasionally at my site - often after someone prints something out of the ordinary like labels.  Nothing changes in the configuration menu of the printer but the printer asks to load legal when printing from SAP.
I think there is a lever on the side of the paper trays on HP Laser Jet4's that can be adusted for paper selection.  Have your printer support group compare the paper tray lever settings of the printer that doesn't work out of SAP with one that does.

The menu for poster printing doesn't have a selection for printing a 1x2 poster for joining 8.5x11 paper to a 11x17 poster.
So, how can I set this up manually? HP needs to allow more poster alternatives.

    Hi @Grammacay
    I understand you were unable to scan previously and have resolved that issue, but now suddenly you can not print. Please try the following;
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and download and install the HP Printer Drivers for OS X.
Now when you add the printer, you should have the HP driver to choose, do not select the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver

  • Printing 5x7 photos on cp1525nw

How do I print 5x7 photos on my printer? It only gives a 5x8 as the closest thing or it goes dow to 4x6. I have 5x7 HP photo paper that came with the phot card pack and I'd like to use them.

    Hello @1MADDOG1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with printing on 5 x 7 photo paper from your Windows 7 computer to your HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer. We may just have to 'create' the paper size under the Windows Operating System.
The first thing I did was check the printing specifications for your HP Laserjet to verify that the 5 x 7 paper size was listed under the media specifications, which it is. For your records, here are the specifications for your product: Printer Specifications for HP LaserJet Pro CP1525n and CP1525nw Color Printers
With that being said, because you don't see the 5 x 7 paper size listed under the program that you're printing from, I will have you manually create the size. Please follow the steps below.
    1. Click on your Start menu
    2. Select Devices and Printers
    3. Click on your printer once in this folder and select Print Server Properties at the top.
    4. In the Print Server Properties window make sure you're under the Forms tab
    5. Click the checkbox for Create a New Form
    6. Under Form Name type in 5x7
    7. Under the Form Description section at the bottom please type 5.00in as Width and 7.00in as Height
    8. Click Save Form on the top right
    9. Click Apply and OK
Now that the Paper Size has been manually created, please open the page you wish to print and now listed under the paper size options you should see 5x7 as a size.
Please let me know if these steps resolve your issue. Best of luck!

  • 11x17 PDF on 8.5x11 paper front and back?

Is it possible to print a 11x17 PDF on 8.5x11 paper front and back?  Thanks!

Assuming you are asking about printing either from Adobe Reader or Acrobat, it certainly is possible. And such printing has been possible for many, many years.
Simply select the fit or shrink oversize pages option (or some similar wording for earlier versions of these products) and set the printer to print on both sides of paper (or duplex from printer setup from earlier versions of these products).
However, if you really mean that you want to print an 11x17 page on 8.5x11 paper such that one half appears on the front and the other half appears on the back of the 8.5x11 paper, that is not directly possible with the current versions of Reader or Acrobat. In Acrobat (not Reader), you would need to duplicate the single 11x17 page and then crop each of the pages to 8.5x11 with one half of the original page on the first 8.5x11 page and the other half on the second 8.5x11 page. Save as a new document and then print normally with the duplex option to 8.5x11 paper.

  • Need to print 5x7 pictures rather than 4x6 - using windows 8

Hi I need to set my new HP Mobile 150 to print 5x7 pictures rather than the default 4x6. I have changed the paper size in the printer properties but I'm still getting 4x6 prints - any advice would be very appreciated!
    Thanks
    BarbaraSki

    Hi BarbaraSki,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that when trying to some 5 x 7 photos that they are printing in a 4 x 6 format using your Officejet Mobile 150 printer.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information:
How is the printer connected (USB cable or Bluetooth)?
What program are you using to print the photos?
Are you trying to print borderless 5 x7 photos? Borderless printing is not support for 5 x 7 photos, please see the Officejet Mobile 150 Printer Specifications.
What operating system are you using on your computer (Windows 7, Mac 10.9, or Windows 8, etc)?
Have you downloaded and installed the full feature software and drivers?
I’m sorry to ask this, but have you loaded 5 x 7 photo paper into the printer?
    Thank you.

    Hi Gurus,
I`ve maintain DMS to some of the equipments and those were scheduled in maintenace plans.SO whenever work order gets created based on the schedule....documents should also automatically get printed along wih the shop paper.
This is my requirement because users dont want to spend time on printing the documents manually.
    Any user exits ?
Help would greatly appreciated with rewards.
    Regards,
    Vijay

    Vijay,
We did something similar but in user-exit IWO10009 (at save).
The reason for using this user-exit and not the BADI described above is because we required a popup box displaying the options for printing. The user could then choose which documents to print.

  • How to print photobook pages into A4 paper

how do we print the photobook pages we made from Aperture after saving as PDF format. The PDF file when open in Adobe PDF is showing each single page only and it does not show 2 pages spread out like we saw in the Aperture photobook layout. do i need to use another program to do the layout beofre printing out in an A4 paper? I intent to do a layflat photobook which require the sticking of the pages for binding later. someone pleeas help. thank you.

I have give a several try to your new instruction but the gap is there no matter how i set the paper size. I gave an example of this page layout of 2.5in x 2.5 in . If i read your article correctly , my total page size is suppose to be 5inx5in.
Just look at the image and i had try out 2 custom setting in the paper size . You will notice the difference of these two layout after i open the preview for PDF.
the first one, the paper size remain as original as it is (2.5inx2.5in per page) .The image is pretty close side by side but the gap can still noticeable.
The second image is using your instructions earlier (When you export your book define a custom paper size that is exactly the size of two pages of your open book. That you define in the "Manage Custom Sizes"-entry of the "Paper Size" selector of the Print panel) - the result = it shrank to smaller size and left a huge gap in between those image. The paper size was set as 5inx5in per page.
Thanks again but still not resolve.
