Printing a 5.5 x 8.5 inch booklet

I'm making a 271 page booklet (book), with pages that are 5.5 x 8.5 inches. If I format my document with two opposing pages on a landscape 8.5 x 11 sheet, how can I get the printer to print the pages in the correct order, as if it is in booklet form? Hope I explained this well enough. :{

I've never used Print Booklet or your printer, but some things are determined by the printer and printer software, rather than the program from which you are printing. You might want to see if Xerox's website has any info also.

  • I have new HP 1050.It prints perfectly but shows a broad 2 inch band while copying and scanning.

What could be the problem????Is there an HP helpline available locally in Mumbai???
HP1050 shws a 2 inch black band while scanning and copying!!!!It's brand new!!HELP

Alas, it really didn't help out all that much. I think I was in a "reality distortion field" moment there. But the "fix" really doesn't speed it up at all -- I will said that under your Printer Settings if you just change it to "Fast Draft" quality, that seems make the process go quicker. Right now too much information is being sent to the printer that is basically white noise and the stuff that needs to get processed ends up in a bottleneck somewhere along the line.
This is ridiculous! Granted, I know that relations between you-know-who aren't that great, but for goodness sakes, I've had two Epson printers that have gone kaput on me in the past four years (ink printer heads dried up) and I may as well shoot myself in the foot to go out and buy another one those pieces of junk!
Please fix this problem hp, Apple.

  • Printing on Canon ipf 6400 using 17 inch roll canvas

I am new at Lightroom and new at the printer. I am using 17 inch wide rolled canvas, printing an image 11 x 11 inches on a Canon ipf 6400, rather than wasting canvas at side of the 11 inch print, and using only 11 inches of the roll, it prints on the one edge of the canvas leaving the other 6 inches unused, but then it rolls down to a full length of 17 inches, thus wasting another  6 inches, full width of 17 inches. I need someone to tell me how to set Lightroom features so that printer only rolls out 11 inches of paper needed for the print.

I'm having same issues trying to print to custom sizes in Preview.
Possible work-around (not a solution, but might allow you to print and meet a deadline): I found I could set my Custom paper size as the Default in the Print & Scan Preference Pane.
Now, my print job still had issues, but it may work for your Aperture job. Of course, the PIA is that you have to remember to go back into Preferences and reset Default Paper Size...
Hope Apple is aware of - and working on - printing issues...

  • My quilt patterns are printing out 1/16 th of an inch too small according to my 1 inch test blocks.

I have a psc 2410xi Photosmart . If the pattern is not exact it will throw the outcome of my quilt off. All help appreciated.

This document is useful in adjusting print output:
    http://www.hp.com/united-states/consumer/digital_photography/print_better_photos/tips/printer-settin...
In particular, on the features tab (mentioned in that document) there is a check box for "Print at actual size" which may help in this case.
The size of the margins can make a difference as well, if you are printing something that basically covers the entire printable area, margins will make it smaller to fit.
Settings can be set in the printer driver and in any software that you are printing from.

  • Trying to print two 7 x 5cm on 4x6 inch paper

With ilife 06 I was able to print two 7x5 cm pictures on a 10x15 cm paper. For some reason this seems to be an impossible task. I have spent the better part of a week to figure it out. This whole Leopard upgrade is becoming a bit of a pain. Nothing is straightforward.

    Try it like this.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • CS4 InDesign not printing correctly on HP1320 LaserJet for 2-sided booklets

I'm trying to print chapters in a book, using 2-sided printing from CS4 InDesign (V 6.0.4) to an HP1320 LaserJet printer using an iMac computer. This used to work with CS InDesign (V 3.0.1) using a Dell PC and the same printer. The page prints on both sides, but is limited to 8.5 inches of the 11 in side.  [My pages are 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 with two pages on one side of the page; when finished, the book is 5 1/2" by 8.5".] I've tried lots of combinations of page orientation in both the InDesign File/Print Booklet/Print Settings.../Setup and in the File/Print Booklet/Print Settings.../Printer... but nothing seems to solve this. Any suggestions?  Thanks.

You need to be sure the print dialog is set up to print the pages in landscape orientation.
    -=-=-=-=-
I'd be happy to try. Here are the steps I take, but you should realize that I've done this so many times over the past several days (up to a couple of weeks) that I try different things each time.
I've got a couple of book projects that use similar formats. One is a textbook and the second is a daily log I keep (not always "daily"). Both are printed and bound to become books that are on the order of 400 to 500 pages and are 8.5" by 5.5" in size.  So, I have a file I want to print and I want it to come out with side-by-side 5.5 x 8.5" pages (two on each side of an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper (i.e., two sided printing).
In InDesign, I click on File, Print Booklet..., and here is what the window looks like: [see attached file "Screen shot 2009-12-02 at 5.51.44 PM.pgn.]
To get it to show "Booklet Type: 2-up Saddle Stitch," I had to click on "Print Settings" at the bottom and select "Setup" and then "Orientation: landscape (2nd from the left on the choice of four orientations)."  I also usually go to "Page Setup..." and make sure I chose "Orientation: landscape."
Then I go to the "Printer..." button at the bottom of the "Print" window and select things so it looks like this:  [see attached file "Screen shot 2009-12-02 at 5.57.44 PM.pgn.]
To get this, I had to click on the "Layout" option and then "Booklet Printing." That automatically selected "Two-Sided" printing.
As far as choices go, I think that is it.
The page that printed most recently with those settings came out with four (not two) pages on each side of the page. Further, the four pages that printed on the back side of the sheet of paper were upside down relative to those on the front side. This may be the result of using "2-up Saddle Stitch" but I'm not sure of that.
But here is the problem that has really been bugging me: the pages on one side of the paper don't go as far toward the margin as they should. Here is one example of low-res pictures of the front of the page that printed.
The page shows two full "pages" along the left top and right top, but along the left and right bottom pages, only about half of the pages printed.  The back side of the sheet of paper was similar, with only half of the "pages" showing for two of the four pages on this side.
So, I hope this is enough information for you. I'd be happy to provide more if needed. And thank you for even attempting to help. I've been struggling with this issue for a couple of weeks (I'm retired, so I sure don't spend full time on it, but I sure have spent hours at it, all to no avail).

  • I am using lion with a HP laser 1320 and a Epson R200. When I try to print two A5 pages onto A4 paper in booklet form the pages are scaled down. How do I cancel the scale down in the printer dialogue boxes.

The printer drivers are supplied by Apple and if I go to the HP site for their drivers they refer me back to Apple saying they supply the drivers for the Epson R200 and the HP laser 1320.

Well, MS Word does something like this automatically - if you tell it to start a new section on an odd page, and if the section before it ends on an odd page, it will "skip" the even page number in between - and when it prints, it automatically spits out a blank page in between them, so that on a two-sided printer, the odd pages all print on the front of the paper (which is the right-facing sheet when they are put in a binder or book).
InDesign shows the pages like this on the spreads (odd page numbers always on the right), so it is aware of the desired orientation, and I'd think it would provide a mechanism to ensure that they print out this way as well...

    Hi Jan,
Don't know if this will help or not, but it may be worth a look. Russell Brown has a video tutorial on printing with CS3 to the HP Photosmart B9180 here:

You'll have to scroll about 1/3 down the page to get to the section entitled

I don't understand why on regular paper you can start printing at .13 inch from the top but when you print on an envelope you can only start at .65 inch from the top.   What's up with this? -- I didn't have this problem with my old HP 6110.  I know it states on the specs sheet that this is the case, but if you can print on normal paper starting at .13 inch,  why not for an envelope???

I hope, this thread may help you.

  • Illustrator Crashes with printing in 10.6.8

I'm trying to print directly from Adobe's Illustrator CS (when I click the app it says that it's version 11). I was printing just fine from the program on October 29. The printer I'm using is the HP C6280. Today (November 14th) I'm attempting to print and it will not. When "print" is selected in the program, either with a short cut or manually, the colour wheel begins to spin then it pauses, looks like it's about to open the print dialog but then the colour wheel re-appears and never stops spinning. The program doesn't crash itself but stops responding forcing me to use the force quit box. Therefore I have no error message to show. I've tried numerous times to print with no luck.
I've read previous suggestions that say re-install it - I have with no change. Another said to try de-selecting layers, not using layers, simplify the image - again, no change. I've tried printing the images that I was printing in October and it will not print those either.
I have performed no updates to the computer, printer drives or illustrator. The only thing that has changed on my computer is the addition of more music from the itunes store.
I've tried printing in other programs with success, mostly. I say mostly because when I'm printing the same file from a different program it's adjusting the margins in annoying ways. When I print borderless in photoshop it does print but cuts off a 1/4 inch on the right hand side and bottom of the image; the image does print to the edge of the page but the 1/4 inch is lost off the page. If I print regularly (non borderless) it's adding a margin of about a 1/4 inch and cuts the photo off with blank for the 1/4 inch. If I print from preview or adobe reader it prints the blank margin and scales the photo down by a 1/4 inch. Also when I attempt to print the image from preview it adds a printer mark down the right hand side of the page. Sometimes it's miniature text, sometimes just a line.
Anyone have any solutions for either of these problems? Whether solving illustrator's crash or the image being cut off?
    Thanks for your help.
