Printing a booklet - Margins (move page to outer edge)

Hi,
I'm trying to print a booklet. The Problem I have is how to set the page margins correctly.
My file is in A4 and then I use the booklet printing feature which then prints 2 pages per sheet as desired.
I would like the 2 pages on the sheet to be on the outer edge of the page and have a rather big empty space in the middle for binding.
But the middle is once the right and once the left border so I can't just increase the left or right margin in the source document.
How can i achieve this? I know it should be possible but I don't know how.
I hope you understand the problem.

Under page scaling in the print dialog select none and choose a bigger page size.  Don't set final pdf pages to A3 as this leaves no room for trims....

  • When I try to print in booklet form, the pages are scaled down greatly.

    I am trying to print an excel sheet (converted to PDF) in booklet form through Adobe Reader. It is full size in Reader, but when I switch it to booklet form, the pages become very small. I understand that each page fits on one half of a piece of printer paper in order to be folded, but they become extremely small.

    .  I am not allowed to select.  I think I hve to change a setting, bt what?
    David, have you enabled the "Autoflow" options? There are settings behind the cogwheel, that will automatically place unused images onto new pages. If you only want to select a few images from a large project, disable these two options:
    Or start your book froman album, that only contains a selection of your images, rather than from the whole project.

  • I can't print web pages since a recent upgrade to 4.01. The print command works but the page comes out empty. right now a copy the link to IE and print from there. HELP!

    When printing from the mozilla 4.01 browser the printer spits out blank pages. It seems like it happened after downloading and running mozilla 4.01 browser.
    I have to copy the link to IE (boo!) to print the coupon or page on my printer.
    Why?

    The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
    Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
    If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
    "Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
    You need to remove the checkmark on "Always use private browsing mode" to leave Private Browsing mode or chose the "Remember History" setting.

  • Printing a booklet

    I am having a terrible time trying to print a booklet.  The end result should be 8.5 x 11, printed on 11 x 17 paper.
    If I try to print directly to our Canon ImageRunner, I get an error.
    If I export to a PDF, it either prints out as an 11 x 17 page size or I get a booklet with the pages all out of order.
    If I were printing from something like WORD, this would be a breeze.
    How can I get help?

    And don't attempt to use the Canon's booklet module from Print Booklet.
    If the Canon has a finisher that can fold and staple, I think you'd do better to export the file to sequential pages as a PDF and print from Acrobat.

  • I am trying to print a booklet.  I have printed it several times without issue.  Now when I print, it gives me one blank page or else 2 out of my 8 pages?

    I am trying to print a booklet.  I have printed it several times with no issues.  Now when I try to print it (with no changes in the program) it will either give me a blank page or will print one of my pages (there are 8 pages total). Any help?

    No I didn't even read through your post, to long.
    You said that "No matter what program I try to install, as soon as the installer opens it crashes". Were you talking about the install for this/these 3D programs or ANY program? As it is worded it sounded like ANY program. That tells me there is a problem with your Mac, software or hardware.
    Now you say others install programs, which is it. Programs other then the 3D ones install or no programs install?
    Could simply be your Mac is to old to run these programs and the installer knows that. You never said what model or year Mac it is.

  • CS3 print booklet margins problem

    Thanks to the help of this forum, I can now print my 12-page newsletter as a booklet with 3 sheets of tabloid paper.  BUT ... one new problem is that the leading edge of each printed sheet has a small margin, making the center become off-center, and the far edge of the sheet has a large margin.
    Any ideas out there of what I'm doing incorrectly?
    Thanks.

    This could be caused by asking for printers marks if the page position in the setup dialog is set to upper left, or even without marks if the sheet is larger than required to hold both pages and the position is upper left. The cure for that is to click the Print Settings button in the Print Booklet dialog and change the positioning to "centered."
    Also, many inkjet printers have asymetric margins which can potentially throw off even centered content or cut off part of the trailing edge of the page.

  • How do I print a booklet with a colour cover but with black and white inside pages?

    Hi there,
    I need to print a large amount of booklets, which have a colour cover but are grayscale on the inside. However, I am having trouble setting up my document to successfully do this and I am unsure if it is something I can change in InDesign or if it is something I should figure out with my printer driver?
    We used Page Plus for these booklets in the past and were able to do this with the same printer, so that makes me think there might be setting I could change in InDesign to achieve the same result.
    It integral that the printer knows that the inside pages of the booklet are black and white, as we get charged per copy for colour printing and it is vastly increasing our printing costs.
    My coworker believed that exporting the file as a PDF with the options: Colour Conversions (convert to destination - Pressure Numbers), Destination (sRGB IEC61966-2.1), and Profile Inclusion Policy (Don't Include Profiles) is making a difference. However, I don't believe is is the case.
    If anyone had another suggestion that I could try, that'd be great!!

    @Eugene – do you have details for "Export as Grayscale"?
    I tried with the following details:
    Target-Profile: Dot Gain 15%
    Convert to Target Profile
    Include Target Profile
    If I do it this way I get:
    Target Profile not included
    Wrong numbers for my colors
    (I tested with a self-made color wedge on the page for the percentages of Black shown below)
    Seen in Acrobat Pro 10 with proof simulation "Dot Gain 15%":
    100 % Black => 100 %
    80 % Black => 82 %
    60 % Black => 63 %
    40 % Black => 43 %
    20 % Black => 22 %
    I could convert to "Dot Gain 15%" in Acrobat Pro's Preflight Panel, but this would show the same wrong percentages (just tested).
    What I can do, however, is printing to PostScript with color separations, only color channel Black.
    That would work, if I chose a Distiller setting, that will not change the color, to convert my separated PostScript file to PDF.
    Seen in Acrobat Pro 10* with proof simulation "Dot Gain 15%" or any of the other available gray scale profiles.
    (Acrobat Pro 11 might get this wrong due to a bug)
    100 % Black => 100 %
    80 % Black => 80 %
    60 % Black => 60 %
    40 % Black => 40 %
    20 % Black => 20 %
    This separated PDF (channel Black only) can now be converted with a self-made correction* in Acrobat Pro's Preflight Panel to a gray scale PDF/X-1a.
    If done right * the color values stay as defined in inDesign.
    Output in my case:
    PDF/X-1a
    OI: GrayScale profile Black ink of ISO Coated v2 300%
    Tested with:
    InDesign CC 2014.2
    Distiller X
    Acrobat Pro X
    Mac OSX 10.7.5
    Uwe
    * There are several, convoluted steps necessary to get this (hope, I can remember them all):
    Not optional:
    Have a grayscale profile representing the channel Black of your intended output CMYK or generate one!
    In my case the base CMYK profile was: ISO Coated v2 300%.
    And I got a "Black Ink of ISO Coated v2 300%" profile for Grayscale conversions by generating this with my PhotoShop app.
    Maybe optional, but helpful:
    Change the color settings of Acrobat Pro X to use the color settings file you generated in PhotoShop where:
    Grayscale is defined as the black channel of ISO Coated v2 300%: "Black Ink of ISO Coated v2 300%"
    Mandatory, but somehow tricky:
    Then on to the Preflight Panel of Acrobat Pro to generate a custom preflight profile.
    None of the ordinary ones will fit exactly (at least in my Acrobat Pro X).
    1. Make a duplicate of an already stored Preflight profile that converts color to Gray. Name it appropriately.
    2. Include a single correction for converting to Gray Scale (at this time, or if you do something like that the first time, it's not possible to change or duplicate that single correction)
    3. Save your new profile. Close the profile.
    4. Open the profile again.
    5. Now, suddenly it's possible to duplicate that single correction (converting to Gray Scale).
    Do some changes, appropriate correction options, eg. adding "Black Ink of ISO Coated v2 300%" as OI to the PDFs you will convert.
    4. Use that duplicate single correction in your new Preflight profile.
    5. Save your custom preflight profile.

  • How can I print a booklet where each pdf page is vertically placed on each half page instead of one pdf on each booklet page?

    I've printed a booklet before but each pdf page had two powerpoint slides on each pdf file.  This binder has one powerpoint slide on each pdf page and if I try to print it as a binder, each pdf page takes up the whole half-page on the booklet.  I want to print two pdf slides on each page of the booklet so when I open the booklet, there are four powerpoint slides printed.  So I basically want to combine the ability to print multiple slides per page but in a booklet form.

    Why not reconstruct the pages in InDesign they way you want the double pages to appear. There may even be an imposition script available that will do the trick. You could then output to pdf all the pages you want the full spread on. Leave the original to create the pages you wanted left as is.
    You can ask in the ID forum about an imposition script. I know there was one with CS4, there may have been one with CS3.

  • I have learned to love PAGES, but I can't figure out how "sections" get linked together and how to unlink them so I can move pages or delete pages with a whole bunch of pages (a section) going away.

    I have learned to love the PAGES program but I will add a new "section" or page to it and then when I look at thumbnails and try to move pages around or delete pages, it treats them as a section of many pages and will only delete several of them together or will add extra blank pages that I don't need. It is very frustrating but must be something I am doing to cause this.

    It is the '09 version. I went on the boards and found out that by inserting a page break after each page as I go, I can make each page act individually instead of as a group. Then I can move pages around or delete them through thumbnails. The online manual didn't really help with how to avoid having them act as a group.
    A Page Break pushes the next text to the next page, it is still part of the same section.
    You need to insert a Section Break.

  • How to print within the margins of the page when printing from iPad to HP Envy D410a?

    When I try to print something from the iPad, either the 1 or the 2, the result is that the image sent from the iPad is printed Borderless, which of course results in parts of the print being cutoff, is there someway to resize the print through the printer, since the iPads don't have drivers?
    Also, I seem to have a similar problem when printing from my PC, only in it's case the resulting print is smaller, it seems to print into a margin size of 1" on all sides. The only app that I have found that lets me override this is Adobe Reader which has the page scaling options.
    All suggestions will be appreciated. TIA.

    Hello, I have exactly the same problem. I could have written the same text. And I have'nt found solutions. Except, perhaps, change this printer (and quit HP?).
    Any suggestions would be really much appreciated.

  • Framed photos in booklet disappear when Pages prints!

    I am attempting to have a printshop run a booklet from a Pages 08 file I created. Whenever they print (on any machine) the photos that are framed disappear. The frames themselves (of the ragged-edged, bent and shadowed variety) do print, but the picture itself will not, even though clearly visible in the PDF. The shop installed Pages and ran the job (thinking that the PDF might be the culprit). Same problem occurred. Can anyone suggest why, and how to overcome the problem (other than simply removing the frame)? Thanks so much.

    I have the similar problem. I created a document and exported it to PDF thinking that I could print it on a plotter connected to Windows PC in my office. However the framed photos don't appear in the PDF when printed (and even viewed). I went back to my Mac and check the file, and found something real strange — the PDF document looks perfectly normal if I opened it using Preview, but have the missing photo when opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader...
    I don't know what's wrong with the exporting, apparently the exporting works fine, perhaps something is missing from Adobe Acrobat Reader? (I had some error message telling me that some "frame was missing" when I opened the file with Acrobat Reader.)

  • Margins in 'Pages' aren't printing correctly...

    Anyone else had difficulty with this? I'm trying to print a standard document from Pages, and it needs to have left-and-right 1" margins. Margin setup was easy and looks fine in the app, but it always prints with wider margins...more like 1.5".
    I've tried a number of different printing and conversion possibilities, but it never works right. (Please don't make me go back to Word, darn it.)

    You'll probably find that your printer has an extra .5" margin on the side of the paper it can't print on, and your iPad is not set up to know that.  So it's allowing 1" margins inside the printable area, which is itself .5" inside the size of the paper.
    See if there's a way to configure the setup for a particular printer or type of printer on you iPad.
