Printing a Numbers document

I want to print a Numbers document from an iPad2 to a WiFi Canon MX882 printer. I have Numbers Version 1.5 on my iPad and Numbers '08 on my new iMac with Lion. I've tried sending the document to Numbers on the iMac but it says I must use Numbers '09. That's a $19.99 purchase and the problem is that a new "Numbers '12" should be coming out soon, so I don't want to jump the gun. I've heard that some Apps will work, but I don't know which one is the best. I've tried to find Printopia but haven't been able to find it. I tried sending it as a PDF by email and I was able to print but it was not full size. I'm also wondering if using iCloud would help. Any help would be appreciated.

No matter what I did, when I tried to drag a rectangle around the unwanted pages, all my wanted pages were highlighted too. It was like one big graphic object. If I tried to drag the corners to reduce the size of the table, it did just that made everything smaller, but didn’t get rid of the extra rows and columns that I did not want.
So I fumbled around and finally realized that there was a “tab” at the bottom of the last row. What did it do? I still don’t really know but when I clicked on that tab and dragged down I got more rows. So I tried to drag the tab up and delete down. I couldn’t get this method to work with rows but I was able to get rid of extra columns using the “tab” to the right of the last column.
In trying to drag , I realized I could highlight rows. I did so and hit the delete key. I finally got my table down to four pages just the way I wanted it! Don’t ask me how.
Try the simple bit of highlighting unwanted parts and using the delete key.
Also the Sheet Inspector (2nd from left) tells you how many pages in your table. Mine was 12! I got it down to four. But I somehow managed to add one more row and was back up to five. Used the “tab” and deleted the unwanted row and went back to four pages.
I will be sure to look at the Sheet Inspector before I print.

What do you see after Menu > File > Print?
Are you using Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) or Numbers 3.1?
Please reply with a screen shot of a small part of your screen (large shots are often difficult to read).
To take a screen shot,
1. hold down the shift and command keys, then type 4. The cursor will change to crosshairs. Release the shift and command keys.
2. Drag over that part of your screen then release the mouse/trackpad. A screen shot will appear on your desktop.
3. In a reply to a message, click on the camera icon in the Toolbar above your reply and
4. Choose File > Choose > Insert Image.
If this does not work, Close the Insert Box (red cross on the top right) and go back to Step 3. Camera icon sometimes needs a wake-up call, but works the second time.
Remove any personal details before taking the screen shot.

Have you tried quitting Numbers? Restarting your Mac?

Perhaps you have set the margins so tight to the edge of the paper that you have gotten into the non-printing area for your printer. Most printers have a dead zone.
What are your margin settings?

I assume that you also have Pages on your computer (or some other capable WP program). I also assume that you have eliminated any unnecessary columns, so you have a 1-column table in Numbers.
When it comes time to print, Copy the entire Table: Click on the table name in the Sheets Pane and Command-C.
Switch to Pages, open a blank WP template and set the number of columns to 3 or so. With the Text Insertion Cursor flashing on the first line of the first column of the blank template, Command-V. Your table should paste into the Pages document as an Inline Object and will Wrap on the page as you desire. Then Print in Pages.

What does your document look like? Does it have a large blank space near the top? Does the Print Preview graphic show move than one page to be printed. If so, what's showing for the higher page numbers?

Texy edit - how to print page numbers only

I wish the page numbers in TextEdit to be printed on my documents; in TextEdit preferences, when I select the option to number pages when printing, it also prints the date and document title. How can I have it only print the page numbers?

It doesn't seem like you can just have the page numbers printed with TextEdit. When the help text appears in the preferences for printing the number of pages, it indicates it will also print the date and the title, so it is doing what it is designed to do, despite the misleading label for that item. Maybe another application (AppleWorks, BBEdit, Word?) can print just the page number.

Printing Multiple PDF documents on the fly

Hello all,
I am looking for a solution for printing the documents to a PDF file. My requirement is that from the application, I can select a set of documents (say 50 numbers) and give for print. The program is in MS access. The MS access opens the report required for generating the documents, pulls the data from the database and generated the document. this will in turn go to a default printer set on the application server. The program repeats for all the 50 dcouments and prints each of them in paper.
All I need know is instaed of printing, all the documents should get mergerd to a single PDF file. Once all the documents are merged I can give it an appropritae name and save it.
Do let us know this is possible by installing a PDF printer driver from adobe on the application server. Will it automatically convert all the prints given at one go to a PDF file or any change in code is required to do it.

FYI, when you use the Adobe PDF Print driver that comes with Acrobat, the PDF Producer won't say "Adobe PDF Converter".
When using the Adobe PDF Print driver, you should see:
Application: Pscript5.dll 5.x.x
PDF Producer: Acrobat Distiller X.x.x
If your document says "Adobe PDF Converter" then it was created by 3rd party software, most likely this package:

That is NOT Adobe software. Please clarify what version of Reader/Acrobat you are using so that we can properly help you. If you need help with your 3rd party PDF print driver, you should contact the company that developed it.

I need to turn off autosave for one Numbers document

I have a Numbers document consisting of a single blank cell. I use it as follows: I have 10 small spreadsheets that I have to combine each week and save as .csv. I wrote an applescript do open each spreadsheet and paste it into the 1-cell document. I then save it as .csv and close it, throwing away all my changes. This way the 1-cell document is ready for next time.
Unfortunately, sometimes Numbers autosaves in the midst of all this, ruining my 1-cell document that I never want changed. Can I set things up so that a particular document never autosaves? I tried locking it in the get info window, but then my Applescript can't paste in the other spreadsheets.

Log onto ePrintCenter and select the print app that you wish to pause. Click on “setup,” then “Update settings,” then choose “Pause” for the desired amount of days. You can also select the print app from the printer panel and select “pause”.

Merging numbers documents into single PDF for emailing

I have 23-50 numbers documents (invoices) that I want to send as one single PDF (to save time).
When I select them all in Finder and open in Preview they are not full size and are rotated the wrong way.
When I open them seperately in Numbers and cmd P they show up fine covering the whole A4 paper and are rotated correctly.
Is there any way of sending multiple Numbers files as one PDF, or separate PDFs without having to open each one and Cmd P > PDF and drag/drop into Mail??
Trying to save time, as we have 23-50 of these every week to do!
We don't want to save them as PDFs as we create the documents as this takes up space on the computer - and there's loads of them!

Hi again mm,
Use a master document in Numbers to temporarily hold copies of each invoice, each on a separate Sheet.
As you complete each invoice, copy that table and then go to the temporary master document. Add a new Sheet and delete the default table that appears. Paste the new invoice. If the invoice has formulas, Menu > Edit > Paste Formula Results (because in Numbers, the formulas will not link back to the original document).
When you are ready to email this master document, Menu > File > Print... and in Print Preview panel on the right > Print All Sheets:
Click on the Print... button (it won't print yet). Bottom left of the print dialogue choose Save As PDF
That is the PDF for you to email and then delete. *
I tried this with an "invoice" on each of two Sheets. Not tried with 23-50 invoices .

How to print Sequential Numbers like purchase order?

I ma new to mac and Numbers 09 and have a quick question. How do I print sequential numbers? I have my own MS Excel purchase order number with macro and I want to use Iwork Numbers to print the numbers. For example, Purchase Order: 70085-1 is in my form. When I ask to print 20 copies, it will print 70085-1, 70085-1, 70085-3, etc.

Printing in Numbers 3.0 not doing what I want

I have beeen having difficulty printing in Numbers 3.0. First I am not proficiant in spreadsheets and probably won't change. Here is my problem.
I have a spreedsheet, more like a database (no calculations , just data). I used to have titles for my columns instead of A,B,C, etc. They no longer show. When I print the preview they also don't show. However when when I print they appear, but not at the top of each page, some where in the middle. Proper place, except not at top of each page. I'm sure I have screwed up some settings. Apprerciate bailing me out.

Open the Playlist.
File>Print.
In the Print settings, select Save as PDF
Open Pages and a new document
Open the PDF with Preview or Reader
Select ALL text in the PDF
Copy
Paste into the Pages document.
That's a long way to do it unless you know of a way to import PDFs into iWork.

Printing page numbers in smartform

Hello all,
we need to print page numbers as Page 1 of 10 etc..
But I can not use SFSY-FORMPAGES because I print multiple documents.
I need to know how many pages will be printed in advance.
Every time a new document comes we have to start the count again.
Have anyone come across this and solved it. Pls help.
