Printing a PDF larger (twice normal size)

Hello all,
I have a PDF I wanna print out. When I print it it's 1 pg long.
I want to double its size & print it over 2 pages.
I have tried the following:
in PREVIEW.app--increasing Page Setup print size to 200%. This just centers the PDF and leaves off the top & bottom of the PDF.
in GraphicConverter--same thing. Same results. (If I convert to JPG it gets jaggy (due to anti-aliasing) and preints out looking like cr*p)
Any other ideas?
Thanks,

(I seem to be good at these questions no one can answer... I've got 3 unresolved ones with no good answers for any of them...)

As usual, it's a problem no one else has. (Story of my life on Computer troubles-- makes me a great Beta Tester!)
Never figgered this out before updating to Leopard, which works.
Thanks
John

  • How can I print a pdf in the actual size with a page border?

    How can I print a pdf in the actual size with a page border? (2 pages per sheet preferred)
    I usually print pdfs of books at a copy shop and they turn out fine.
    The problem comes when I try to print the same books at home.
    I use Adobe Acrobat X with the same settings: "multiple pages per sheet" (2x1) and page border. But the pages are slightly shrunken when printed. I think this is because my printer can't print as closely to the margins. Still, two pages should be able to fit on one sheet in actual size. Are there any layout settings that I can play with to find a better fit, besides portrait and landscape?
    If I select page scaling "none," I'm able to print the pdf in actual size, one page per sheet. But there's no option to add a page border.

    I have a test with some questions (multiple choice, FIB, matching, etc). I have just one button to submit all the answers, and after submiting the student can see his score and review the test to know where he failed. He can't answer again. However, he can change the answer multiple times before submiting.
    "if i turn on success/failure captions the student will see them while answering" - before submitting
    "if i turn them off he wont know what's the right answer" - after submitting
    My results page is the default. I didn't use any variable. When i go to the results page after reviewing the test all the entry boxes are "wrong".

  • Everything prints small, about 25% of normal size.

    Everything prints small, about 25% of normal size. It effects both of my printers. It effects WORD, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel, and anything that I print from the web.
    The only document that is NOT effected is Adobe InDesign.
    I've tested the usb cables, and restarted my computer. I have not downloaded any new programs or updates.
    Anyone had this happen to them? Anyone have any ideas of what happened, and how to fix this problem?
    Very frustrated! I have work to do!
    Please help!
    Thank you!
    OH...my Apple Mail is also effected.

    Hi.
    This forum is for a specific product (Adobe Contribute) which doesn't appear to be your issue. It looks like you are having printing issue rather than issues with any particular product. I would suggest finding support for your printer or your Operating System.
    Good luck.

  • Printing a PDF page in A4 size resizes to A5

    Hi,
    I am trying to print a PDF file, which somehow succeeds; However the printed page shows the PDF in A5 format. the same pdf printed with acroread32 shows in expected A4 size. Can anyone imagine why? Here is the code:
    private void printPdf(File file) throws Exception {
            // set up the PDF reading
            RandomAccessFile raf = new RandomAccessFile(file, "r");
            FileChannel channel = raf.getChannel();
            ByteBuffer buf = channel.map(FileChannel.MapMode.READ_ONLY, 0, channel.size());
            PDFFile pdfFile = new PDFFile(buf); // Create PDF Print Page
            // Create Print Job
            PrinterJob pjob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
            PageFormat pf = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob().defaultPage();
            Book book = new Book();
            PDFPrintPage pages = new PDFPrintPage(pdfFile);
            book.append(pages, pf, pdfFile.getNumPages());
            pjob.setPageable(book);
            // Set print attributes:
            PrintRequestAttributeSet aset = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
            aset.add(MediaSizeName.ISO_A4);
            try {
                // Send print job to printer
                if (pjob.printDialog(aset)) {
                    pjob.print(aset);
                    Log.Debug(PrintJob2.class, "Document '" + file + "' printed.");
            } catch (Exception e) {
                throw e;
            } finally {
                raf.close();
        }My guess is that it has to do with PageFormat, but i don't know how to change that?
    Best wishes,

    Hi,
    Fixed by setting the paper size manually:
    Paper paper = new Paper();
            paper.setSize(594.936, 841.536);
            paper.setImageableArea(0, 0, 594.936, 841.536);
            pf.setPaper(paper);However odd imho

  • Can't print a PDF larger than 54x54 inches without errors...

    I'm trying to help someone print a PDF to 92x92 inches. Each time either of us tries, we get an error that says 'The document could not be printed.' Then a second error message pops up: 'There were no pages selected to print.'
    I ran a number of test scenarios and was able to print up to 54x54 successfully. When I tried 55x55, it errored out. Strangely, when I tried 55x40 it worked fine. So it might be a matter of a limit to the number of square inches? But I heard that Acrobat X Pro should be able to print things with millions of inches of dimension.
    Any ideas out there?

    For anybody else following this, I figured out a work-around. It does require InDesign, however...(messy, but it works).
    Create an InDesign document with the dimensions that you want. In my case: 92x92 inches.
    Place the original PDF image (that is still at reduced size) onto the page of the InDesign document, and scale it up to fit the page. To ensure exact scaling, just SINGLE CLICK AND RELEASE the mouse when placing the PDF so it comes in at original size. Then with the black selection arrow activated from the toolbar, change the scaling in the properties bar at the top to scale it appropriately.
    Move the resized image onto the page to fit, then select FILE > EXPORT and select Adobe PDF or Adobe PDF (Print) and export it.
    This workflow is optimized for architecture where we need our scale to remain predictable and consistent.

  • Word document won't 'print' to PDF on proper paper size

    I have a document in MS Word that's on a 5.5x8.5 page size. If I do a Save As, the resulting PDF uses the proper paper size, but it also shows color--which I don't want for this particular document.
    When I do Print and choose Adobe PDF, I can choose Black/white which is great, but I'm struggling to get it to use the right paper size. I've tried ever combination I can think of in the Default Setting and Adobe PDF Page Size options, but can't get it to show anything but 8.5x11.
    Any thoughts on how to get the right paper size using Print to PDF?

    Is this a Word document generated by Adobe's RoboHelp product or just a document generated directly in Word?
    If the latter, you are asking in the wrong place. Even if you are using RoboHelp, this looks more like a question to ask in the Acrobat forums.

  • File Saved Size is Twice Normal Size -  Photoshop CS3 OS 10.6.7

    I don't know what happened to make a couple of Photoshop files about double normal size on disk. I've been using Photoshop for a long time so I know how big the files should be - they're multilayered files which are normally about 250MB but are around 500MB+. I don't see anything different in 'Preferences' or 'Mode'. I have always used 'Maximise Compatibility', it's not that.
    I've had a couple of strange things - like a few other people I've started getting the alert that says the file has changed since it was last saved. And also I tried a test converting the file from my usual 8-bit to 16-bit and saving - which resulted in a substantially smaller file size.
    Can anyone help?
    David

    Sorry! I've figured it out!
    I imported layers from a psd file written by a third party application (Artlantis). It seems to be writing the layers in a massively inefficient manner.
    But thanks for your responses, I've learnt something about 16bit.

  • How do I print a PDF file to poster size on Mac

    Hi,
    Is there a way to print (on a Mac computer) a PDF file that is in Acrobat Reader to tile it to print in several sheets.  (This would be like printing to a PC, using the Poster setting.) The original file is a single sheet that needs to be enlarged to 4 sheets by 4 sheets to make a large poster that will be pieced together.  I do not know what type of Mac computer our customer is using.
    Thanks

    Not with Reader no. You would need the full version of Acrobat.
    Have they looked to see if Mac Preview can do it?

  • Unable to Print a .pdf less than 100% size

    I used to be able to print out the address book at 75% or 80% to make a smaller booklet.  Now it prints at 100% no matter what percent is entered.

    Thanks.  That used to work on my Intel Mini.  I have OSX 10.6.8 on a MacBook and on an Intel Mini.  Both ignore any percentage I enter.  It just prints full size 8x10 pages.  Maybe there's something in Preferences somewhere, but I can't find it.  Or maybe a newer OSX update messed it up.

  • Compressor files TWICE normal size?

    We're finishing 2 separate 4-hour DVDs currently. All 30p NTSC Mini-DV source, all edited in FCP 5 (latest rev), latest OS, latest everything. Interestingly there have been several of the sequences that when compressed turn out a little more than twice their expected size. For example an approx. 21 minute clip at 3.7 Mpbs is around 1020 mb instead of about 550.
    Anyone seen this? Exporting to a self-contained quicktime and compressing independently, even on another machine, produces the same results. The video material is almost identical to many other sequences that compress just fine. It's very strange.
    Thanks,

  • After upgrade to OS 4, my 3GS display twice normal size

    I installed iTunes 9.2 and downloaded OS 4.0 for my 3GS, then installed it. Now I can't use the phone because the 3GS display is apparently the wrong resolution for the new OS. I can see only the centre half of the screen. How do I fix this?

    Double-tap using three fingers to un-zoom, and then go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.
    If you have trouble with that. connect to iTunes and click the "Configure Universal Access" button in the Summary pane and turn off Zoom there.

  • When I print my airline boarding pass in FF, (either printer or to a pdf) it is too small. When printed in IE, it is full size. Is there an add on or setting I can change to allow full size printing?

    I fly Alaska Airlines. When I web check in from home and print my boarding pass I either print to Adobe and save the file for later printing or print directly to my printer. The PDF version is about 1/3 the normal size, the direct print is 1/2 the normal size.
    This only happens with FF. When using IE, it prints normal size for both the PDF and direct printer version.

    I recently tried sending myself an email through Thunderbird to another email account to see if that was the case, but the email came in with a font so tiny that it was unreadable. I had chosen a font type and size (arial 10) and just coming into my outlook inbox was virtually unreadable.
    And referring to the person I work with, she doesn't have problems getting anyone else's emails, just ones I send from Thunderbird.

  • Printing as PDF changes Doc?????

    Hey everyone, I have hit a wall and I need some serious help. I have a rather large word 2007 document with pictures, graphs, page breaks etc.. when I go to print and select print to PDF, like I normally do, it will give me the PDF file and it looks perfect. However, when I return to my original word document everything is messed up. My spacing is weird and things are being cut off, it's like it changed my margins and fonts for no reason. Any ideas why this is happening??

    The printer metric issues are turned off by default in WORD 2007, so the reflow should not be an issue. There is no reason that the DOC file should be changed at all, unless WORD is doing something strange or you turned on the printer metric option. However, it is looks fine in the PDF, there is no reason you should be seeing any changes in the DOC file after printing. This is not helping I know. You might consider doing an update to OFFICE 2007, just in case there is a bug there (that is what updates are supposed to fix and OFFICE has several updates, just like Acrobat).

  • Printing to PDF - Format A1 with ArchiCAD

    I cannot seem to print to PDF larger than A3. I have added a custom paper size (A1) and also tried installing the drivers for an HP Plotter.
    But regardless each time I try to save my layout from ArchiCAD 10 I can only save as A3 pdf.
    Any help would be great...

    Ok, I think I found what needs to be changed, but I cannot set it "permanently" - that's what I need to figure out now.
    When it comes up with the print dialog, I choose Adobe Acrobat as my printer, and then in the print dialog, there is a properties button.  That opens a window and one of the options is labeled "Adobe PDF Page Size" - this seems to default to be blank.   If I set that to "Letter" everything works as I want.
    So the question is, how do I make "Adobe PDF Page Size" default to "Letter" under the Adobe Acrobat properties?
