Printing a PDF tabloid to Brother MFC6490CW

I can't get a pdf to print a complete tabloid sheet.  If I have multiples, I can't get past the first page.
I can get a print from my AutoCad LT2007 print driver, but many of the tabloid prints I need to make are PDF.
Brother said to check with Adobe for settings.  help

What version of Acrobat? What OS? What are your choices when creating the OCR? Without knowing how you are doing things, it is hard to answer.
It is not clear why you want to create images in a PDF from a current PDF. For a black type style, it is probably better to use a preflight script to convert to gray-scale first and then do your graphic conversion (I am not asking why you want to do this, but just trying to address your question).

If you are running Mac OS X 10.7.3 then you have Lion installed, not Snow Leopard. It's probably not important to this discussion, but something you should be aware of.
What application are you printing the PDF files from? Have you tried opening the PDF file using the Preview application that can be found in the Applications folder? Does the issue still occur? Have you tried other PDF files from a different source?
Another poster in the following discussion thread reported that this method resolved their black blank PDF issue when viewing (and presumably printing) PDF files from Safari.

There's a solution if you want to see the PDF inside Safari's window :
Go to the folder : Your Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins.
If you see a file with PDF in its name drag it to the trash.
Quit and restart Safari to test with a PDF.
If it works you can empty the trash.

I followed the FAQ troubleshooting and that didn't help

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

uninstalled epson printer from control panel...installed new brother printer....now i cannot print anything .pdf old or newly downloaded@

For starters, what exactly do you mean by "cannot print"?
Are you getting an error message? Are you trying to print from within Reader or are you opening these in the browser? What version of Reader. Even though it's a new printer, the drivers that came with it (or the ones that were already on your computer) may be old so, have you downloaded the most recent drivers from the Brother site?

  • Printing to PDF Cuts Into Right Margin

I am having a problem where hundreds of reports generated by our CAD system print with a fraction of an inch missing from the right side of the report when they are printed to PDF.
    We use Adobe Acrobat 8.1.
I don't think this is a new problem but it was recently brought to my attention.
When ALL of these reports are printed to any of the 24 other HP printers we have in the building the right side of the document is not cut off. The problem only exists when the report is printed to PDF.
I am wondering if anyone has a solution that will allow these reports to print as they do on a regular printer - where all text is clearly visible. Is there a "shrink-to-fit" setting I don't see in the Adobe printer settings?
    Thanks,
    Matt

I did find a solution, but it does not resolve the problem.
I have several printers installed on my MacBook Pro. The truncation problem happens whenever the printer selected is my new HP PhotoSmart 7515.
But, if I change the printer in the dialog box to my Brother HL-4070cdw before I try to print to a PDF, then the document contents are NOT truncated!
So I found a solution, but it is not a perfect one.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Issues printing a pdf to another pdf

I use the Brother MFC-8890DW multi-function scanner/printer... to scan paper documents to pdf files(non-secure pdf). Later I open the pdf files in Acrobat 8.1.5 and try to print part(fewer than total number of pages) or the whole pdf to another pdf file via the Adobe pdf printer. I get the following error log:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: imagemaskDistiller ]%%
    Stack:
    -dict-
    -mark-
    -save-
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
This error only happens with the pdf files that I create with the Brother MFC-8890DW. Other pdf files print one or more pages to another pdf just fine. I tried taking the pdf file to another computer running the same version of Acrobat but the same problem happens. What should I do to get this to work? I am enclosing one of the offending pdf files. Other info about my system:
Running Windows XP SP3, Adobe Acrobat 8.1.5 Professional.

I get the same message when I print to pdf some reports I receive that are scanned pages from one of my contractors.  I took the advice of the forum and run the PDF optimizer on the document, then I am able to print it to pdf.
I use the print to PDF on hundreds of documents each week, and have only recently encountered this problem.
The main reason I use print to pdf is because I receive many of these documents from faxes, and I have to crop the pages to eliminate the fax headers.  Sometimes I have to use the pencil to check boxes or write in something one of the inspectors missed, and so to make the page standard size and make all my notations a permanent part of the document, I use the print to pdf option.  It usually ends up making the document much smaller in file size.
I hope I can find a fix so that I can skip the step of using the PDF Optimizer before doing the print function, as this is adding multiple steps to my routine!

  • Preview locks up every time I try to print a pdf.

Hello all, got a problem that popped up this afternoon, hopefully I can get some help. I've been using preview since I installed lion last week without issue. This morning I was printing from it with no problem, all of the sudden now it locks up every time I try to print, I have to use option, command, esc. to get out of the program. I've been searching quite a bit and can't find a solution, would appreciate any help, thanks!

I have been having this issue as well - permissions settings (in other posts) didn't fix it.
I went into system preferences and set the default printer as a one of my brother printers instead of "last used" (which was pointing to my canon)... I can now print in Preview to PDF or my other printers but if i select my printer as the canon - it locks up again -so at least that narrows it down and i am now able to print to PDF (and my other printers) from preview. hope it helps somone to get access to other printers and the pdf functionin Preview (haven't checked textedit yet)

  • Preview won't print some PDF's

Periodically, Preview will not print some PDF files. I open them, print them, it appears to go to the printer, yet nothing happens. Both with HP laserjets and a brother USB multifunction.
Yet if I use Adobe Acrobat on the same file it prints fine. ANyone know what might cause this?
    Thanks.

Is there anything in Concole or the CUPS log (/var/log/cups/error_log)? It could be a font problem, but one of the places above should have some indication.
    Hope this helps.

  • Firefox fails to print to .pdf or paper

FF is driving me batty... I used to be able to print to .pdf or paper just fine, but around 6 months (or so) ago this functionality vanished. Print dialogue appears, allows me to format layout, pages, etc, but when I click "OK"... no joy.
The very first time I try to print to .pdf or paper from a fresh install of FF, I get a script warning note; allowing the script to continue brings up the script warning repeatedly, stopping the script... well, stops the script and then nothing productive happens.
If printing to paper, no response from the printer (print dialogue doesn't open, no indication of data transfer to the printer).
If printing to .pdf, a .pdf file is generated but is "corrupt or in a format Preview doesn't recognize" (also cannot be opened by Adobe).
Clicking "preview" has no effect - the "print" dialogue box disappears but nothing else seems to happen.
Subsequent attempts produce no script warning but otherwise the same results.
I'm currently running FF 3.6.12, Mac OS 10.5.8. Doesn't matter what website I try to print, or whether I use FF's "print" command or a "print this page" option on a webpage. Printing to either .pdf or paper works fine from Safari.
Resetting print.print_printer from about:config (by right-clicking and choosing "reset") removes this line completely from the about:config list, and apparently requires me to re-install FF (anyone know how to put that line back in without repeatedly re-installing?).
Any brilliant ideas? I don't personally think printing from a web browser should be quite this problematic...

The purpose of resetting '''print.print_printer''' is to make Firefox pull fresh information about that printer from the operating system again; similar to what happens with a fresh install of Firefox. That preference should reappear when you go to use that printer the next time. <br />
Did you try resetting all the '''print.printer''' preferences? <br />
The ''More system details....'' that you posted above shows what appears to be corrupted data for two printer preferences. <br />
This is what the name/model of your printer looks like: <br />
    '''PD94bWwgdmVyc2lvbj0iMS4wIiBlbmNvZGluZz0iVVRGLTgiPz4KPCFET0NUWVBFIHBsaXN0IFBVQkxJQyAiLS8vQXBwbGUgQ29tcHV0ZXIvL0RURCBQTElT…'''
A "normal" printer name pref looks like this - '''Brother HL-2070N series'''
''Then again, those two prefs are unique to MacOSX, I have never seen a pref like that on a Windows or Linux version of Firefox. I don't have access to a Mac PC for comparison of differences related to Mac in Firefox.'' <br />
Try resetting all the printer prefs that appear as '''user set''', then restart Firefox and try to print a web page. Regardless of whether a page prints or not see what the printer name looks like for the '''print.printer''' prefs that appear in about:config. If that gooble-dy-gook string reappears, my guess is that something related to your print drivers is corrupted. Re-install your print drivers and clear all those preferences in about:config again.

  • Printing a PDF created in Indesign results in blurry text.

    Hello All,
I am in need of assistance.
I have created a flyer for one of my companies products in In-design.
When I print the project directly form In-design the print looks great and the text is nice and crisp.
However, when I export the project to a "Press Quality" PDF, and print it the text comes our blurry and "dirty"
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days now with no luck.
I have tried multiple different setting during the export to PDF form In-design, all resulting in the same issue.
What is strange is when I print the PDF in black and white the text look just as good as if it were printed directly from In-design in colour.
I looked around online and found allot of posts regarding this issue but no definitive results.
I have also checked the colour of the text and it is 100%K.

    What color is the text?
Can you show some screen shots?

  • Printing Photoshop PDF

I am on a rented iBook G4, just got my iMac today but have not hooked it up yet --too busy. I'm on a deadline and am trying to print a Photoshop PDF to Adobe Acrobat PDF that I can to email to a number of people. I have been on a B & W G3 for seven years and have been using a program called "Print to PDF". Now I am hopelessly lost in OSX, which I will start learning after I get this project done this weekend. I created a Photoshop PDF in Photoshop CS2 and it's about 25 MB in size. I saved it as a Photoshop PDF and followed what I thought was the path and it seemed to print it; it opened in Acrobat reader but when I tried to attach it, it was even larger! It has a ton of layers but usually they save as 6-700 KB in my previos program in Classic.
Obviously, I have no idea what I am doing and need some simple explanation to compress this 8 X 10 page full of pictures and type into a reasonably sized PDF the way I used to!!!
Forever grateful; I did search the site but didn't find what I needed to know.

Gasketgirl, On top of flattening the layers, then saving as a Photoshop PDF, you can reopen the file in Acrobat and using the advanced menu, look for an option called 'Optimize PDF'. This option (and there are many more options once you open the dialogue) allows you to compress the file, downsample (I don't suggest you do this) and remove application specific data. Don't save the file after Optimizing as the optimizing itself is a save option. Resaving again removes much of the Optimization you just did!!!

  • Error when printing a PDF direct from SAP archive

    Hi together,
I try to print a PDF direct from SAP archive and I got the error ""C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\reader\AcroRd.exe" /p /h" not found. In the internet I found several topics which describe this way to print a PDF without open the Acrobat Reader.
The customizing for document management (Local application) seems o.k. If I remove in the registry the parameters /h /p for print, Acrobat Reader will open and show the document if I use the print button in SAP.
Have anybody an idea what the reason is?
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Thomas

The rundll32 error seems to have disappeared.  Until this morning I had both this error and the rundll32.  All other types of docs open fine.  This one will open if saved to the desktop first, but not from Outlook.
