Printing a two-sided brochure

When I printed a two-sided brochure with the former Pages,  I would select options Two-Sided and Short-Edge Binding and the text would print correctly.  With the new Pages there isn't and option for borders when printing so the text prints correctly on the first page but the text is upside down on the second side.  How do I fix this?

I googled this for you:

Wait for it to dry, then flip it, a good idea anyway, unless you like your work smudged and ripped.
or, what you should have done, print single sided, then single sided again for the 2nd side.
Inkjets are such slow, expensive, bad ideas. I don't know why people are so attached to them, except they appear cheap when you first buy them.

When using a pages template to create a two-sided brochure, the second page needs to be reversed (upside down) for correct printing when emailing to an outside printer sources.  How do I reverse the page within the pages app?

IF you are using a printer with 2-sided printing, in the expanded print dialog you will have a selection for long-edge binding OR short-edge binding. Whichever setting you have set, switch to the other one.

  • Best Printer for Two-Sided Printing?

    Hi all,
I do a lot of printing of very long documents (up to 300 pages each) - right now I have an Epson CX4800 Inkjet which works very well, but I fear I am running it into the ground. Also, I am going through tons of paper and ink. I'd like to get an inexpensive laser printer (under $300) that can do duplex (two-sided) printing so that I can use less paper when printing out early drafts of projects. I don't want to have to manually flip the pages over and put them back through the printer because I am a ditz and a klutz and always wind up getting the pages in the wrong order when I do this - thus wasting even more paper. I just want a printer that can do automatic two-sided printing for under $300. Am I delusional?
mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

No matter what printer you are going for (please specify if you are looking for a colour or mono laser), the biggest expense you would encounter are consumables: toner, drums, transport belts, fuser unit. The reason you should do that first is that consumers are lured into buying a cheap printer and by the time of the first toner change they have to spend as much money as they did on a printer.
What you have to do first is look around for a printer that has lowest cost for consumables (i.e. lowest cost per page print). The easiest thing to do would be take a supplier of consumables, and write down all the prices for the toner for specific models of printers, then divide them by the number of pages you can print from that toner - in this case you will get a breakdown for each colour: say, a replacement toner costs £50 and yields 4500 prints (with standard 5% page coverage) = 1p per page for that colour. Then compare this costs against the costs of your other candidates and you got yourself the most cost-efficient printer.
Besides that though, you might hav e to spend money on things like drum (lasts for about 25000-40000 pages in SOHO printers) and transfer belt (again, 25000-40000) - but that all depends on a printer, as sometimes toner and drum are separated, so you have to get both, sometimes they are in one set, which cuts your costs.
In my case, I've got a Xerox Phaser 6120, and although it might not be suited for you, it's OK for me as duplex unit can be added on, and I don't do this many prints. In your case my biggest concern would be, as I have said, the prices for consumables.

  • Keeping Printer setup @ two sided printing

I know that I can set a page to print both sides each time I print but have been unable to find a way to set it up to stay on two sided printing. Am I missing something? Can it be done?

Steve -- for some reason this isn't working for me. My iMac's printer driver settings themselves revert to having the two-sided printing option unchecked, as if I didn't want that option available. So even the "Last Used Settings" gambit doesn't work.
What's weird are these two things: (1) it used to work flawlessly --- never needed to reset that, it always was available, and usually, of course, I wanted it. the exceptions were in printing photo paper, so I'd just set the print options for the software -- Aperture or whatever-- to single-sided, but always in Word or Preview I still had the two-sided option there and could select it. Now, I need first to go to the System Preferences spot and set the printer driver to using the two sided setting.  (2) my laptop (MacBook Pro of same vintage as the iMac) doesn't have the problem.
    Any ideas?

  • Printing a Two sided greeting card

I am trying to design a two sided greeting card, but I do not seem to be able to find such a project as that in Photoshop.  Print shop has a double sided greeting card where you desgin the fron and back and then go to the inside of the card.  anybody have any suggestions.
    thanks

Go to File>new>blank file, and in the dialog enter the height & width of your paper stock, set resolution 240-300 px/in, and design the components for your card. You will have to place these, each on their own layer, so that they print out in the correct orientation and that the fold of the card is centered. This will require some experimentation until you get it just right. View>grid may help in the placement.
The various card printing programs, such as Print Shop, readily allow accurate two-sided printing. You can import your design from Elements to the appropriate page(s) of the template.
There are also available templates (free) from Avery. Half fold greeting card #3265, for example, is available in landscape and portrait orientation in Microsoft Word application:

  • How to do two sided printing automatically with HP 7520 printer

All that I am trying to do is to make my printer do two sided or double sided printing.  No matter what I check IT DOES NOT WORK.  I checked "2-sided, 1 to 2, NOTHING.  What amazes me is that this worked until recently and now it just will not do double sided printing.  I am probably doing something wrong, but WHAT?

Generally speaking, duplex printing is accessed / adjusted from Printing Preferences.
If you are printing from within an application, for example, within Word or within your Browser, you might reach Printing Preferences from Print Preview.
    Reference:
Manage Print Output with Print Preview
    Excerpted:
Print Preview – Accessing the Printing Preferences
Browser Page > File > Print Preview > Properties
    Properties Accesses Printing Preferences:
Paper Source (Tray Selection), Paper Size, Media, Orientation, Print on Both Sides, Page Order

  • The print menu on my MacBook Air won't allow me to select two sided printing, how do I do this?

    Hi Community,
I recently purchased a MacBook Air (my very first Mac) and I cannot access all of the printing options when I print.  I am able to print and the printer driver was downloaded, but my options are limited.  I cannot enable two sided printing, which is something I was able to do with my current printer via my old laptop.  I am in grad school and have a lot of journal articles to print and read that are 60-70 pages each.  I'd much rather print these two sided to save paper.  I have the latest version of OS X (version 10.8.5) and my printer is an HP Laser Jet P2035n.
Can anyone help me fix this issue so I don't have to use my old laptop to print?
    Thanks,
    Melissa

  • How can I print two-sided with Mountain Lion and an Epson WF-2540?

I just purchased an Epson WF-2540 printer with two-sided printing capabilities. The manual includes easy to follow instructions on doing this with a PC. However, it doesn't seem to be present in OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.4). I have looked all over for the answer, but nothing helps with this specific problem. It seems like, before Mountain Lion, there was a simple check-box within system preferences>print and fax>options and supplies>drivers that said "duplexer." Now, that option is not present. I would love to be able to use this function on my new printer. Thanks for all of your help!

    I have the answer ...
The Epson WF-2540 does not appear to be a two-sided printer!
    Reference this article:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=C11CC36 201
The following is extracted from that article:
There is no reference anywhere in what I've shown or the rest of the article to two-sided printing.
Compare that to my Epson Workforce 645, which is a two sided printer.  Here's what it says in the Epson writeup:
... and indeed my options under the Layout dropdown menu look a lot different from yours, and from there I can choose two sided (whether I've attached as AirPrint or not, by the way).

  • Two sided printing on an HP Officejet 6500 Wireless

When I print using two sided the printer cuts off the top half of the second side. It misses several lines of print. If I print the same document and do not make it two sided it prints properly. If I try to print 4 pages two sided - it will print the first one, bottom half of the second and then leave it in the print q with an error????

I don't think that printer supports AirPrint. To get it to work you will need to install something like Printopia. That's what I had to do and it works great.

  • Connected wirelessly to Canon printer MX340. Duplex printing option is grayed out for me but not on my daughter's non-Mac laptop or husband's PC which is connected to the printer. Mine has two-sided option available at the Apple store. Any ideas?

We use a Canon MX340 series printer/fax/scanner. My husband has his PC hooked to it and my daughter prints wirelessly from it with no problem with her non-Mac laptop. I have trouble printing. Often it does not print and I have to delete the job from the queue. Other times it will print OK but two-sided printing is always grayed out in my printing options. When I took it to the Apple store and printed on their network (selecting their printer) the two-sided option was available. Makes me think the printer is set up wrong, but I am not certain. A fw times at home when trying to print I got an error message about incompatible fonts, but it printed anyway after deleting the job and starting over. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    OK, just an update.
Two years into this, I still find I can only do full duplex printing by using Windows XP running inside of VMWare. I've had occasional, ephemeral luck with duplex printing, but nothing long lasting.
I've tried this in Tiger and Leopard (now at 10.5.6), and I've had this issue with Canon printers MP780 iP4300 and MP610, direct connected to my Core2Duo 17" MBP. I also have this issue when printing over a network, but that's a much harder problem to solve.
Currently, this is my #1 most pressing issue for my Mac, because not being able to print from a computer when you print a lot is a really big drag, and using VMWare all the time is also a really big drag. Other people posting seem to be able to print in Duplex using the very same printers. What could be wrong with my MBP? I see the duplex box option, but most of the time it's grayed out as if my printer doesn't support duplex.
I've tried direct selecting printer drivers from the system preferences, but nothing seems to have an effect. And this is off of a clean Leopard install.
My wife now has similar problems with her new MBP - the Canon print drivers (CUSP & non CUSP) aren't allowing the Duplex box to be checked.
I am willing to pay good money to anyone who thinks they can fix this problem.
    Thank you,
    - Jeff

  • Having problems copying two sided but not printing two sided of two sided originals

I have no problem printing items two sided with two sided originals using my computer with Windows 7 but cannot copy using the automatic feeder as that option no longer appears when you click green arrow on the two sided of one sided original.

    Hello,
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 (N911a) only offer automatic two-sided printing.
ADF Duplexing (Automatic two sided copying of an original) is only offered by the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (N911g) or Premium (N911n) for that series.
You may find its specifications below:

  • Printing two-sided problem

Hi, i have to print something two-sided but this option is off and I can't turn it on...can someone please help me ?

That completely depends on your printer.
For mine (Epson WorkForce 645), when printing, say, from Safari, I would click the button that says "Safari" (below "Orientation" in the screen shot) and change it to "Output Settings".  There I would find the settings for double sided printing - either Long Edge Binding or Short Edge Binding.
Of course, Apple's printer driver needs to support your printer as a two-sided device.

  • 8500A Plus prints two sided. Each side prints to edge so neither will align with each other

What setting could I be overlooking?
I have a 8500A Plus with the Two-sided Printing Accessory installed. I'm using it as a wireless printer from a Macbook Pro, using ADOBE Acrobat 9, both 100% and fit to page have an alignment issue.
I want to print a two sided document, one page per side, orientation landscape, both sides same size, align on both sides center (or at least align back-to-back). But whatever I try, it gets printed "binding top"  which renders the header on one side back-to-back with the footer on the other side.
This is important to my production as a graphic designer. Please help.
