Printing Account Annotations in Financial Reporting.

I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1. Wanted to know if it is possible to print account annotations in FR?

You can insert a text column or row and use the Annotation text function. Here is the usage with some examples:

Zero Balance title accounts appearing on financial reports

Hi All
Is there anyway of not showing a title account with a zero balance when you run a Trial Balance, P&L or a balance sheet.
I know that you can leave the checkbox unticked in the selection criteria, but this only removes the active accounts from the report.

Hi Stuart
A work around is to create a Financial Report Template and set the titles you don't want displayed as "dummy titles". Only problem is when they do have values, the G/L account will display instead of the title. Give it a try and let me know if it helps you.

Print quality when importing Financial Reporting in to MS-Office?

Hi,
I want to create a report package in MS-Office using Financial reporting. I want to import several FR reports to MS-Word using Smartview and then be able to print the word document.
When doing so I am not able to get the same quality when printing from word as when printing from FR. Figures and text in the word printout are a bit blurry and not at all as sharp as when printed from FR.
Is it possible to get the same (or almost) quality in text? If so how do i do?

Query annotations (from financial reporting

Hi All,
I want to upload my annotations with my data (retrieved from Essbase), but i cannot find the comment.
I retrieve data from an Essbase cube (with an import script in FDM).
No i want to check for annotations for each row and add them in an additional column.
In the SQL database Workspace i have found the ANNOT_ELEMENTS, ANNOT_ELEMENTS_VALUE and ANNOT_CONTEXTS tables so i can match the cell in Financial reporting to an ANNOTATION_ID.
But i cannot translate the ANNOTATION ID (like 0000012724ae4e60-0000-735d-0a164ac4) to a valid tekst/ type combination.
Has anyone a clue how and where annotations are stored and how i can retrieve them in FDM?

I think annotations are saved as a link related object (or LRO) within the Essbase cube. I would think you need that data you would need to write some java code to find the LRO at those intersections.

I am able to input cell text, planning unit annotations, account annotations and supporting detail thru Planning 9.3. When I go into Financial Reporting 9.3, I can only report on cell text, planning unit annotations and supporting detail. How can I report on account annotations within Financial Reporting?

Still not in 9.3.1 - real pain in the .......

Unable to connect in Financial Reporting Studio

Hi,
I am trying to connect to Essbase from FR with the following database connection properties and am getting errors as follows.
Database connection Name - abcd (some name)
Type - Essbase
server - phani (this is the database server)
User ID - admin (this is the db user name)
password - password (this is the db password)
Application -
database - basic (this is the database name)
1) The first problem is when clicking on the icon next to Application text box, it displays the following error.
"Failed to connect to server"
I have also done the Stop_BIPlus.bat and Start_BIPlus.bat but still i am getting the same error. Can anyone of you kindly help me what should i do.

If you haven't checked it might be worth checking that all of the necessary services are running, and there are a few! I have also experienced issues if services are not started in the correct order.
For Hyperion Financial Reporting (Studio or Workspace) the following order works for us:
1. BI+ Core Services
2. Workspace
3. Financial Reporting Java RMI
4. Financial Reporting Print Server
5. Financial Reporting Report Server
6. Financial Reporting Scheduler Server
7. Financial Reporting Web Server
We have always tended to manage services from the control panel (Windows OS) so I am afraid that I'm not sure how the above relates to your .bat options.

Financial Report Template

Hi Experts,
I need to develop a report template for Financial Reports, I need to sort my accounts in a different way other than using the Chart of Accounts Template,I already tried creating a new template but I had some hick-ups, can any one please point me to any documentation/guide for developing report templates.

To compile financial reports, the system needs a template that specifies the structure of the report. You must define these financial report templates in advance.
For some countries SAP Business One delivers templates that you can use to create your own financial report templates. An alternative is to copy the structure of your chart of accounts and then make any necessary changes to it. You can use the financial report templates to compile balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and trial balance reports (totals and balances of G/L accounts and business partner accounts).
Balance Sheet u2013 The system proposes the accounts in the Assets group as assets (active) accounts; the system proposes the accounts in the Liabilities group and the Capital and Reserves group as liability (passive) accounts. You can change these proposals on the highest levels of your financial report template. The system automatically displays the profit or loss for the period (Profit Period).
Profit and Loss Statement u2013 The system proposes the accounts in all the other groups (Turnover, Cost of Sales, Operating Costs, Non-Operating Income and Expenditure, Taxation and Extraordinary Items) and offers the calculation of subtotals.
Trial Balance u2013 The financial report template can contain the accounts from all groups. It displays the totals of all groups but does not offer any subtotal calculation.
You can create comparison reports that compare the figures from a specific company or fiscal year with those of a different company or fiscal year.
Choose Financials  Financial Reports  Financial and then Balance Sheet or Trial Balance or Profit and Loss Statement to generate these financial reports.
Choose Financials  Financial Report Templates to define and maintain financial report templates.
Editing a financial report template is similar, but not identical to, editing a chart of accounts.
Every financial report template has exactly five levels.
Levels one to four consist of only titles.
The G/L accounts are all located on the fifth level.
If you want the totals of the G/L accounts to be displayed on a higher level, you can make the higher titles invisible by selecting the Dummy Title indicator.
You can hide G/L accounts if you donu2019t want them to be displayed.
In a financial report template for balance sheets, you can let the system automatically transfer accounts to the other side of the balance sheet in case the account balance is negative. To do this, select the Transfer Accounts with Negative Sign indicator and specify the place where the transferred account should be.
In a financial report template for profit and loss statements, the system can insert a subtotal on every level:
Level 1 (level of account groups): Select Automatic Summary to let the system use predefined formulas for the gross profit, operating profit, profit after financing expenses, and profit period.
All levels: You can define your own formulas. Select Totals Formula and choose Formula to enter a formula based on the titles of the same level as the subtotal.

I've installed a Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3 Client on a Windows XP SP2 client. When i try to launch print preview of a report from the studio, it crashes, and return to the report without printing. Any idea?

Financial Report Templates - Creation and input of accounts

Hi,
At the time of creating Financial Report Templates, these templates can be very time consuming and tedious to create, as for the inputting of accounts within each account category - filling out one or more details...
It would be helpful to have some kind of tool in which we could associate like in the GL all the sub accounts withing that account.

I'm agree with your post, all my customer are very angry with this functionality because the want use wildcards for input the account, if i input 71* the template will show all account which begin with 71.
Now when they create a new account into the financial plan of accounts they must create also into the report templates and this work is hard and spend a lost time in it.

Hyperion Financial Reporting-Print Service is not Starting-11.1.2.1

Hi,
We are using Hyperion 11.1.2.1 and when i look at my Hyperion Financial Reporting-Print service it shows me at stopping and when i right click to stop/start it the options are greyed out.
I have completely stopped all the hyperion services and started them again and now the HFR Print service is showing me as Starting.
Kindly help me what should i do to resolve this issue.

Cell Text Annotations of Hyperion Planning on Hyperion Financial Reporting

Hello,
There is a business requirement to show Cell text entered as annotation on each cells in data form to be reported using Hyperion Financial Reporting.
Also there is a case of some of the data types being text. Some of the forms also have supporting details.
Now I want to check how easy or difficult is it to report from Hyperion Planning V11.1.2 for the above mentioned.
Are there any noticeable performance issues?
Is it possible to report the cell text annotations , Supporting details & Datatype 'Text' from data form on Financial Report?

I haven't used the text data type, however I have done quite a bit of reporting on supporting detail. All you have to do is use a Hyperion Planning data source instead of an Essbase data source. (and specify on the report to show supporting detail). In general, Hyperion Planning data sources are slightly slower than Essbase data sources. How much slower depends on a lot of factors, but supporting detail can certainly slow things down.
One key limitation with reports that display this type of data is that it doesn't "roll up" the hierarchies. Your report has to be at the same level (in all dimensions) where the supporting detail was entered. So you can't pick an upper level Entity and show all of the supporting detail for it's descendants unless your report also includes the descendants. I understand why this limitation exists, but I routinely have clients that would like this functionality. (For Example - Show me all of the supporting details for the entire plan.)

Modify Financial Report (Profit & Loss) through Print Layout Designer

We try to modify the P&L Financial Report in SAP BO 2005B through the Print Layout Designer tool. We saved a new P&L Report with font size and font type modified and set this new report as default, but we noted that our modifications are only displayed in Report print preview instead printing this Report it seems like our modification are not performed.
Have you got any experience in this matter.

We had also faced this problem. we are also using SAP 2005B.
For P&L Report, Hope u did changes in Profit and Loss Statement (System).
But, it is true that the system is not using the baove template for its print. Instead of that the system is using the template called "Profit and Loss statement Comparison".
When u give print preview u can understand this.i.e. the name of the template used will display in the title bar.
Hence, u do the changes in second said template. Hope u understood

How can I print Essbase database notes information in Financial reports? As a requirements, I need to print certain database information in reports such as application refresh date/time and data source - from where my database is updated from.

Unfortunately, none of those text functions are going to pull the database note. Hardly anything does other than the add-in.
Maybe the OP could stick that information into an LRO? Then he could use CellText to get the info out.
