Printing all PDF files in a folder in file name order
When I do a select all and then Print the PDF files selected are printing in a random order. Is there any way to have them print in the order that they appear in the folder (Listed by name)? Thanks
Adobe Reader 9.0. I can go into Windows and open a folder with say 10 PDF files in it and click on Edit and Select All and then right click and click print and they will all print, but, they print out in a different order every time. It would be great if they printed out in name order or the order the are listed in the folder. Thanks

PDF portfolio cannot print all pdfs
Hi,
[system: win xp, acrobat 9.3.1]
I cannot make acrobat print all pdfs in a portfolio. The user wants to be able to select multiple pdfs in the list in the portfolio and print - and I would expect Acrobat to be able to do that, but cannot make it work.
To test this issue i produced to pdf in acrobat. Use create new from blank page. no#1 is 1 page no#2 is 2 pages.
In acrobat click combine to single pdf > portfolio. I save my new pdf portfolio to the filesystem.
I open the portfolio and select both pdfs and click print icon. I only see 'All' in print range and NOT 'All pdf files' as other users explain they do
(for example in this post: http://prsync.com/adobe/batch-printing-pdfs-and-other-files-using-acrobat--19267/)
Hope someone knows whats missing and how to solve it??.Did you follow the instructions on the website you gave in your post? In particular:
You don't have to print all the PDFs in the portfolio. If you click the List View button, you can then CTRL-Click to select just the files you want to print. Then, choose File> Print and Acrobat will only print the selected files -
How can I silently print all PDF documents that are opened automatically?
For a special terminal PC I want to print all PDF's that are opened to be printed automatically and without user interaction. The PDF is loaded in an iFrame in the browser, this PDF then needs to be printed.
I don't want to modify the PDF's, the PDF's are supplied by another resource.
I was thinking about using a folder level script that prints each PDF document automatically as soon as it is opened, but I don't know how to accomplish this.Macropanther wrote:
I don't think the installation process will allow that unless the printer is connected.
Incorrect. Win or Mac, you can install a printer driver w/o the printer being connected.
I have tried MS PowerPoint (which can't seem to accept paper wider than 56 inches) and have used NeoOffice Draw
You're using the wrong tools. PP shouldn't even be in consideration; I don't know about NeoOffice, but I tried its cousin LibreOffice, and it has issues with custom paper sizes; which is not surprising, given what these apps were designed for.
What you need for actual banners (not web page banners) is a vector drawing tool or a DTP app. I'd say Illustrator or InDesign, but Adobe CS is expensive, and, if you're thinking of PowerPoint for this job, you're not ready for it.
You can try Pages; although not quite DTP, it can do the job and it's inexpensive. There are other options, such as Swift Publisher (a DTP app) or Intaglio (a drawing app) -- both are more expensive than Pages, but still affordable; or you can go open source with Scribus (DTP) or InkScape (vector; requires X11). You already know the ups and downs of using open source. (These are just examples; you can find others if you look for them.)
Although it's better to have Kinko's printer driver, to make sure of the correct options, you don't actually need it to print to PDF. You should be able to define a custom page size (eg, 12in × 72in) and create the PDF from it. Any app which uses the Mac OS X standard print function should be able to do it. -

I'm trying to write an Applescript. I have never used Applescript but my boss has just asked me to write a script so I dutifully nodded and said "Yes Boss"...
The funtionality I need is that I want finder to rename the files in folder when I drop a new file in. When I add the new file (file neame: "1") to a folder, I want to increment the other file names in the folder by 1.
So when I drop a my new "1" file into the folder, the file original file called "1" will be renamed "2", the original file named "2" will be renamed "3" etc
I'm creating a 'stream' of images. When I add a new image i want it to nudge the other images in the folder along.
Thanks guys!Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box (top right), other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

Printing all PDF files in a folder.
is there a way to print all my individual PDF files in one folder without opening each and then printing it before opening the next one. I have 52 PDF files in one folder that I need to print.
Use Automator to create a Service that looks like this:
Save it, give it a name like "Print All Files".
Now you can control-click the folder in the Finder and select you new service under Services.
Just a transcript of the screenshot:
Service receives selected folders in Finder
1st action is *Get Folder Contents*
2nd action is *Print Finder Items*; Print to *Default Printer*; under Options select *Show this action when the workflow runs* so you can select your printer.

Setting Printer Acrobat XI Default to print all PDF files last page first
Hello,
I have just recently upgraded to Mavericks and also have the Creative Cloud using Acrobat XI Pro. In using Reader 9, whenever I printed a PDF the output would print in reverse order, so all I would have to do is take it from the printer and hand it off; it would be in the correct order. How do I setup Acrobat XI Pro to accomplish the same settings (print in reverse order) on not only 1 PDF, but all PDF files? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JohnCan a print preset be created that would work for all PDF files and not just the one opened? Just trying to find out since no one has answered my question in 2 days and Tech Support wasn't much help.
Thanks,

Output.Print printing all PDFs double-sided
Hello
According to the following article it is possible to configure a PDF to print single or double sided in the Adobe LiveCycle Designer:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/index.htm?content=000089.html#15813 85
I follow these exact steps and configure the PDF Template "Printing" setting at the (Master Pages) hierarchy to "Print on Front Side Only" and then print the PDF by using the LiveCycle Output ES service. The PDF continuously prints double-sided regardless of the value I set. Interestingly enough the printer properties are configured to print single sided on the OS and if I print the PDF using Adobe Reader it prints single-sided. This leads me to believe that the Output service is specifically telling the printer "print me double-sided".
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running Adobe LiveCycle ES version 8.0.1Thank you for the reference. It was included in the LiveCycle install I just had to move over a copy to the JBoss directory that the article specified. It is an easier way of testing I found that if I set the output file type to PDF the document prints double-sided but if I change the output file type to PCL or PostScript it prints single-sided. Unfortunately we currently generate all our documents as a PDF output and it seems like we would have to make a subsequent call to the Output service for every document we generate just to have a PostScript output. I'm sure it goes without saying this is not very efficient.
Thanks again for the reference it did help solidify my findings that the issue does lie with the Output service and how it handles the PDF file type. I have a ticket open with Adobe Support if they get back to me with a helpful response I will post it to this thread. I can't possibly be the only one experiencing this issue. -
I can print to PDF using PDF995, but not the regular Adobe PDF that comes up in the list of printers.
I've tried repairing the Adobe installation, but that didn't help.It might help to understand the process, though I am almost surprised that AA 9 worked for printing on Win 8 (thanks for that info). Normally the print process is to print to the Adobe PDF printer (without the print-to-file checked). The process does create a PRN file that is actually a PS file. AcroTray (running in the background) completes the process of taking the PS file and running Distiller in the background to create the PDF. If you have problems, you should be able to print to file (assuming the print driver works -- but you indicate it does) and then opening the PRN file in Distiller to create the PDF.

All PDF's show up as bad files
I need help, please.
Every time I try to open a PDF, I get and error that looks like this:
Adobe Reader could not open '2014_Prize_Form.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). It happens with every one I try to open. Can someone tell me how to fix this? It happens when I try to open in Adobe Reader or Acrobat X Pro.Christal L wrote:
When I look at the file's info, they say O kb for size.
I downloaded the PDF; the file size is 14 KB (13,441 bytes), and I have no problem seeing its contents:
I don't know why you are unable to download the file, but it's not caused by Adobe Reader; it's either your Internet connection, or your browser. -
Is there a way to sort files in a folder by file name in elements 11?
When I want to print a contact sheet, I need the files pictures in the file name order. Elements 9 had this feature.
I have different needs, but I agree the lack of alphanumeric sort should be fixed. In my situation, it would be enough to have an option to automatically sort an album in alphabetical order. I would also like a sort by caption for albums.
In your case, that is with too many files in folders, the nearest workaround I have found would be:
- Select the images you need to sort (a folder for instance) and export them without changing names in a new folder.
- Import the result into the organizer.
- Select all files in the import batch and assign them a common date stamp.
Your copies should be shown in file name order, in thumbnail, folder or batch import view. But the date taken will be lost...
A solution could be to select both the original images and the edited ones, use the 'automatically suggest stacks' based on visual similarity. You won't lose the date information, but at the cost of twice the disk space. -
Automator and applescript to copy new files in a folder with same name as parent folder
I have an iMac with a pictures folder (Finder folder) containing several subfolders with pictures. As per now, all these subfolders are imported into an iPhoto library (and the structure of the Finder pictures folder is thus maintained: The iPhoto events are named the same as the Finder subfolder). I.e. I have not created any albums in iPhoto.
I have also set up a workflow, where new iPhone photos are automatically being synced to specified Finder folders within the iMac pictures folder. So what I want to do is to make a workflow to import potential new photos from week to week into the existing iPhoto structure. I know iPhoto has this Autoimport folder, so this one is unpacked and "mapped". So, this is what I´m hoping to do:
Automator (iCal - want to do this on a weekly basis):
- Get specified Finder items -- set to target folder = iMac pictures folder
- Get folder content (with subfolders)
- Filter Finder items
- Items from the last 7 days (which then would be any new files created last week)
- Applescript/shell script loop(?)
- Get folder name for each file´s (from previous step) parent folder
- Create new folder with same name as the file´s parent folder (if not already existing) under the iPhoto Autoimport folder
- Copy the given file into the folder from above
- Run iPhoto application (Automator task), which then should just auto import the new photos according to the Finder folder structure
Whith the workflow above, I aim to maintain the existing iPhoto structure, and just import new photos into the existing structure. Creating folder names under the Autoimport, similar as the existing Finder folder names / iPhoto events should make it possible to have the new files imported under the existing event, right?Anyone?
I have now switched to Aperture (from iPhoto) due to Aperture´s capability to handle Finder folder structure, and due to the possibility of having the pictures within Aperture as referenced files to the pictures within the Finder folders (i.e. possibility to delete pictures from both library and Finder folder at the same time).
So I have a superior Finder folder called "Album". Within "Album" I have several subfolders (sub albums) containing pictures. The "Album" folder with subfolders are imported into Aperture as "Projects and albums", and the pictures are uploaded within the Aperture structure as referenced files. So for now the Aperture structure is more or less a direct mirror of the Finder folder structure, whereas "Album" is the project.
And this is my current workflow in Automator, but I´m searching help with my Applescript:
- Get specified Finder items (target folder = the superior Finder folder "Album")
- Get Folder content
- Filter Finder items (to look for potential new files to import into Aperture)
- Kind is not folder
- Date created last X days
The output files from this task enters an Applescript
on run {input, parameters}
repeat with f in input (**Loop**)
tell application "Finder"
set fileName to name of (f)
set parentFolder to name of container of (f)
tell application "Aperture"
tell library 1
tell project "Album"
if (exists album parentFolder) then
** I then would like to check if fileName already exist within the existing album**
** If not existing, I would like to import file f into the existing album as a referenced file**
else if not (exists album parentFolder) then
make new album with properties {name:parentFolder}
** I then would like to import file f into the new album as a referenced file**
end if
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell
end repeat
end run
