Printing an iPhoto Calendar at home...unsucessful in getting Landscape

I've been volunteered to produce a charity calendar for a local school...I'm using iPhoto and the calendar templates...I'm simply trying to print it in A4 landscape format so I can show the PTA a draft version of the layout etc.
I've been using the page settings in iphoto and in the printer itself however every time it prints if does so in A4 Portrait mode.
Is this a bug? or is there a simple solution. ANy help appreciated I need to report back to the PTA in a couple of weeks.
Thanks
Jon
iMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Latest version of iLife + all recent software upgrades

Jon,
I've just tried and have managed to print a calander to A4 landscape to PDF. I did nothing special, just this:
Created a new calendar using the 'Picture Calendar' theme (the first one) which is in landscape (as they all are I think?).
After creating the calendar I went to File -> Print -> Save to PDF. A PDF has been created that appears to be in A4 Landscape. All seems to be bug free and in order.
However, I don't have a printer, so there are no printer settings or anything hidden away that I might be missing.

  • Can I print my ical calendar in a orientation other than landscape?

I like to print my monthly calendar and slip it into a monthly pocket divider in my binder that I normally take to meetings etc. Unfortunatley the ical calendar only seems to print in a landsape view that does not work well in binders. This has always been very frustrating  and because of it I have always used other calendars. I really would like to use my ical. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

iCal doesn't offer you this option. You might like to consider BusyCal, which does:
It's like 'iCal Pro', with a lot of useful extra facilities: it uses the same database as iCal so for 'On My Mac' calendars it works immediately. It will also sync with MobileMe in the same way as iCal, though you will need to set it up separately. It's slightly cheaper in the Mac App Store than from their website.

  • Order prints from iPhoto 7.0.1

I've tried several times over several days to order prints from iPhoto 7.0.1. I get to step 3 in setting up an account and I get an "unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later."
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Apple has been having problems with some of their servers recently and that might be the reason you're having trouble.
Try reentering all of your account information and reset the 1-click ordering. That may help jump start the process.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Pink colour cast when printing from iphoto

When I try printing from iPhoto to a Canon MG6150 I get a pink colour cast.  The preview shows correct colour and I'm running out of paper with my attempts to sort it!
What has gone wrong as everything else seems fine?

Do you get the same results if you print the same photos from Preview? If not then it's definitely an iPhoto issue.  If you get the same it's possibly more of a system issue or printer adjustment.
Check the Color Options (Printer)  and Color Matching (iPhoto) settings in the print window. You might try tweeking some of them.
Your print window should have something similar.

  • Unable to print from iPhoto '09 - asks for a theme

I just started to experience the following phenomenon: when I try to print from iPhoto '09 (v8.1.1), I get the following error message:
    "No available theme.
There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable."
How can I install a theme? If theme refers to contact sheet, one per page, etc., I can't get to that page. The error message appears immediately after clicking Print.
BTW: I am still able to print from Preview.
    Thank you.

    First try the following:
1 - move the themes folder to the desktop, reboot and launch iPhoto.
2 - close iPhoto, move the themes folder back to where you found it and reboot.
3 - launch iPhoto and try printing again.
If the above doesn't point iPhoto to the theme folder you'll have to reinstall iPhoto by deleting the theme folder you found, the application and all files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. Then reinstall from the disk it came on, apply the latest updaters and try again.

When creating iphoto calendar to print the months of the year font changes to very small size. No text field available to change back.

  • Increase print quality for calendar in iphoto

I am trying to make a calendar. However, I keep get warnings that print quality is not good enough. Some of the pictures are emailed. Is there any way to increase print quality so the pictures are clear on the calendar and I stop getting the warnings?

No.  There's no way to add pixels to a photo.  What are the pixel dimensions of the photos that are giving the warning and where are you using them in the calendar?
iPhoto will give that warning when the resolution of the image falls below 180 dpi:
You can determine what the dpi of the photo will produce by diving the width of the photos by the width of the area on the page it is in.  If it not too far from 180 you probably won't notice it much.  If it's way below then you might.
One method to test what the photos will look like is to preview it according to this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it.  That will give you a pretty good idea of what it will look like and if you can accept that level or resolution.
If not you'll need to use a larger image, one that has more pixels.
    Happy Holidays

  • Ordered Iphoto calendar. One picture is blurred and bad. Can I get a new calendar?

Ordered an iphoto calendar for 2015. One picture is blurred and bad. Can I get a new calendar? To whom do I report this problem?
    Joan

Maybe - did you preview the calendar -
Before ordering your calendar preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered calendar will match it.
What is the printed size of the image and what are it's pixel dimensions - it need to be no less than 150 DPI for a good, clear print
You can contact Apple at the address included in your  order confirmation email and see what they will do - but if the picture is too small reprinting will not help

  • Can no longer print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer

iPhoto 09. Cannot print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer. I select the photo from iPhoto Library, go to File>print. The screen for Print comes up with another one on top of it that is blank but with text "Print...Processing 1..OK".  Clicking OK prints from that screen "Print, Processing page 1" (on correct 3x6 photo paper in black!).
I have run Apple Software Update. Run Permissions with problems (one: "Permissions differ on Library/Printers/h...". Have reinstalled iPhoto which has left one icon on Dock and 3 on desktop: iPhoto 07-27-19.app; iPhoto.app; iPhoto Library that I don't know what to do with with them, so just use the one on the dock which opens iPhoto Library.
Believe I read that after reinstalling iPhoto, a plug-in (possibly third party plug-in for HP?) must be installed. I have updated my HP printer to latest driver.
Would you advise how I can print photos in my iPhoto Library again, and also get those iPhoto icons off my desktop which only confuse me.  Thank you for your prompt attention.
    Out-of-patience Great Gramma

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Printing in iPhoto 08

Is anyone having problems printing multiple photos on one page, i.e. 2 4x6 or multiple copies of one photo on a page. I use a printer over a network and so I don't have all the paper sizes available to me. It looks like this new version's printing is contingent on the printer you are using. With the previous version, I could setup my prints like I liked them, hit print and it then took me to my printer. I really, really don't like this!!!

    Mary:
See Anastassios T's excellence treatise on printing with iPhoto 08. He figured it out for all of us.

  • IPhoto Calendar - download problems

Have tried 4 times to send completed iPhoto Calendar for printing. Each time it is rejected with following error message :
'Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results. '
Can anyone please explain what this means and more importantly what I now have to do ?
    Many thanks.

    What version of iPhoto?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • IPhoto calendar ordering problems

    Hi all,
I have been having serious problems ordering an iPhoto calendar.
First, I ordered it on Monday using express shipping, such that it should have arrived by Friday, and instead on Friday I got a cryptic email saying "Apple is unable to process your order and you will not be charged. We recommend updating your software, previewing your print product in iPhoto or Aperture, and placing the order again." (My iPhoto is fully updated and I've ordered calendars before with no problem.) I spent about 30 very frustrating minutes on the phone with Apple (worst customer service experience I've had with them) trying to get an explanation, but got none, and ultimately they told me I should re-place it and they'd give me free overnight shipping when they saw my order (nice enough...).
I'm now trying to re-order and am repeatedly getting the message "Your credit card information could not be verified at this time," no matter the card I use. Has anyone had either of these problems? Any advice? I am loathe to get on the phone with Apple again given the number of times it took to even reach someone who knew anything about print products.
I'm at the point of dropping Apple's print products entirely and going with another provider in the future. The ease of using iPhoto to make calendars is totally outweighed by this ordering and shipping ridiculousness...
    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Jianming:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Contact Apple via this link: http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/customerservice/calendars/. Lay out the problem in detail and submit. You should hear back from them in 1-2 days.
Also log into your account thru the Store button at the top and then the Youre Account on that page, as opposed thru iPhoto, and see if you can confirm your account that way without an error.

  • Allow others to order iPhoto calendar via Apple Photos Services (or other)

I thought I saw this option somewhere, but I have an iPhoto calendar that I've printed through Apple Photo Services for myself. I now want to make that cal available for others to print without having to be involved in placing the order for them. Is that possible? Ideally, they would not even need a .mac account, but could order as a guest. If Apple does not offer this service, does anyone know of a short-run printer that will take the PDF and make a cal of it? Fed Ex/Kinko's does not have a lot of info on their site for that kind of thing. I will call them shortly.
    Thanks.

Thanks Terence. I assume the file is stored on the Apple server for 4 weeks (in which time it is removed), so I'm unclear why they can't assign it a unique number and allow me to send that number to my mom who can use it to order the cal. That does not seem impossible to me and could help Apple make more money on prints.

  • Iphoto calendar creation won't let me make a calendar more than 12 months long even though I have chosen a 14 page calendar

In iphoto calendar creation, I have selected a 13 month calendar from December 2012-December 2013, wanting 13 pages.  I have selected all my photos for the year and have started placing them in the Calendar.  I'm at October and noticed that December is missing.  Thought maybe i didn't request a 13 month calendar, but I have.  Seems like the more months I want in the calendar, the end months keep dropping off.  If i want a 14 month calendar starting in November 2012, then November and December 2013 are then gone. so....I changed it over and over trying to get the months back, but to no avail.  I've created a new empty project calendar, requesting 13 months, and all 13 months are there.  Problem is.....how do I get all the pictures from the old calendar over to the new ones without having to reselected 200 pictures again?  Or is there a way to fix the original missing pages?  Thanks.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then your current library is the culprit.
In that case make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Can't print from iPhoto. I have the :"There were no themes located"

I've read other threads. I have the Themes folders in both the HD and User folders. I tried moving from the User folder to the HD folder and rebooting. I cannot however, reinstall from the disk onto my iMac , because I installed the application from one of the two MacBooks I bought last year.
Could there be a problem with the Themes folders? I see similar files - one ending in -V.IPBookTheme and the other ending .IPBookTheme. Just trying to think of something. Any tips would be appreciated.
I don't imagine I could reinstall iPhoto 7 at this point could I? Would my photos transfer backwards okay from iPhoto 8 to 7?
I actually dislike Events so much that it might be worth it. But for now I would settle for printing from iPhoto. Thanks for any help.

because I installed the application from one of the two MacBooks I bought last year.
That is in violation of the Apple licensing agreement.
"*2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions*. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. "
You'll have to buy a copy of iLife for you computer and do a fresh install.
An iPhoto 08 (also known as iPhoto 7) library is not compatible with iPhoto 6. You will have to start over with iPhoto 6 by creating a new V6 library and importing just the Originals folder from the V7 library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
