Printing and exporting iCal events in date order

I would love to be able to print out my gigs and events in date order so that I can give this list to the people in my band and my agents.
iCal does not do this and there are lots of people asking a similar question. I don't know enough about programming to alter the scripts, and I love having my dates synced across all my toys, but is there another app or facility that will give me the same functionality of iCal with the print-in-date-order option?

it is useful to have all the calendar events across all devices now, don't even use a paper diary now

They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. There are 19,000+ of them, some rescued from a pc crash- which I used the nifty iPhoto to put back into date order.
I want to take them all off my laptop, now............as I need to use it for WORK!!
Copied them (hours and hours) to another external hard drive.
They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment) one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
How can I copy
the whole library still in "Events" to an external hard drive?
the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........

UPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.

In iMovies, can I arrange the events in the Events Library in date order, e.g. 1994 - Sports Day; 1991 - John's christening; 1993 - Christmas?

If you import from a digital camera or camcorder, iMovie will automatically store your events in date order.
However, if you imported clips from an analog camcorder, like VHS or 8MM or Hi8, iMovie does not have any metadata to work with.
In this case, there are two ways to add back this metadata.
The simplest way is to right click on your Event clip and select Adjust Clip Date And Time. Do this for all clips in the event.
The other way is to name your clips before importing to imovie in this format:
clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss.ext
where hh is hours in 24 hour time, and ext is the current file extension. If you name your clips this way, and then import to iMovie through FILE/IMPORT MOVIE then the clips will sort into the proper year.

How can you add your own print and export buttons to the CR viewer toolbar?

I posted a previous question that was asking how to get around the Information Bar in IE7 when you export and print. Unfortunately the CR viewer file download code gets blocked by IE7 because the buttons don't directly download the file. However, I have been able to get a regular button that calls the following code and streams the file to the client and IE7 does not block it.

So here are my questions?
1. Is it possible to add a custom print control/icon to the CR viewer toolbar?
2. If one is not possible, then is it possible to override the CR viewer print and export buttons with your own subroutines like the one above?
I just want my page to look nice and hate to have print and export buttons outside of my CR viewer.

It might be possible to replace the buttons in a windows app since you can retrieve the toolbar as a toolbar object in the winform viewer ( ToolStrip toolBar = (ToolStrip) crystalReportViewer1.Controls[3]; ) however with a web app, it's a lot more difficult.
The problem is that that you need to parse the Request string to try and figure out if the print / export button was clicked. The code below makes the print button disappear if you click it, so you should be able to modify it to call your custom printing / exporting code instead (You have to do this check in a postback)

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

How to hide the Print and Export button in analytics report or tasks pane ?
For example:
In console,I have created one userA which is belong to BIConsumer GROUP , when I make use of the highest user 'weblogic' to create one simple report, then the userA will login the analytivs to view this report (not dashboard), it will show the print and export as below.So customers do not want to give him the privilege for printing and exporting.
In addtion, go to catalog->tasks(left corner), it will also show the print and export button. So how to hide or not access these button?
Note: Maybe it can use the policy for consumer role for implementing this requirement, but I do not know how to modify the policy. Are you facing the problem? Thanks.

Hi,
1. Create seperate folder for Reports & Dashobard.
2. For BI_Consumer (userA) set the catalog permission to view Dashboard Folder only and remove permission on the Report Folder (you can give traverse permission but don't give Open permision).
3. By this user won't be able to open or run any reports in that folder and the only way he can see the reports is through Dashboard and on dashboard the export and print buttone can be removed very easily.

Set location of print and export dialog boxes?

Is there any way to set the location of the print and export dialog boxes in the viewer?
To say, have the dialog box show up in the top left corner instead of in the middle of the document?

There's no easy way to customize that for the viewer.
Some people make the toolbar invisible and write their own controls.

How to organise my events in date order?

I usually organise my events in date order but some have gone somewhere else, the album info say it starts may 6th 2014 but on the event it says it starts in 2013???

That can happen, if your event contains hidden photos.
The event below contains a hidden Photo from September 2002. When I make the hidden photos visible the date of the event will change.
Enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu. Then both date ranges should match.
You will recognize the hidden photos by the "x" in the corner after unhiding them.

German dates and "add iCal event" not working

I have a german formatted date in a mail (like 01.08.2008 = October, 1. 2008) and Mail does recognize this as a date. But when I select "add iCal event", the popup shows the date 08.01.08 (= January, 8. 2008). This only happens with days <= 12. When there is a date like 25.01.2008 everything works fine.
Does anyone know how I can get this to work correctly? The global language settings are all set to the correct german format (= default settings for Germany after a clean install of Leopard).

I reported this a bug to Apple in October 2007.
but anyway 01.08.2008 = 01 Aug 2008 in every calender system EXCEPT US I believe.
If I create an email and just type 01.08.2008 in it, iCal does the US format - ie 1st Jan 2008 BUT try typing 01/08/2008 and my UK spec setup converts that to 01 Aug 2008, this bug has been partially fixed by 10.5.2
Hope this helps while Apple fixes the rest of the bug.

Is this possible? I want to export events from one calendar, but only in a certain date range, to give to another user to import into their iCal calendar...

Controlling #views/#prints and getting audit event notifications

We have an evaluation of LiveCycle up and running, and we are negotiatons for purchase. In doing some quick proof-of-concept work, we ran across a couple issues we are looking to get help with.
Background: We are working in .Net using LiveCycle web services. We can successfully apply a policy to a PDF using web services, and we can successfully manipulate a PDF using reader extensions using web services.
1. We see where we can apply validity dates in the Policy, but where can we limit the number of views or prints allowed on the document? Is this even controlled by the policy, or somewhere else? We see where we can assign permissions to principles, but this is more of "Can print" or "Can view offline" but not a control on the Quantity of prints or views. Is this something we can setup via the web interface, or is it something we need to supply custom java extensions for? And if we need to supply extensions, is there any way to point us in the proper direction? (this seems like it would be fairly typical usage)
2. How do we setup livecycle so we can get notified of audit events like "# allowed views reached" or "# allowed prints reached" or just "someone viewed this PDF". We are a .net house, so is there any way to get notifications of this externally? Or do we have to supply some sort of extensions to LiveCycle? And if we have to supply an extension, can you point us in the proper direction?

If you want to revoke or expire a document based on user action (i.e. printing or viewing the document) then you can do this by capturing the print or view event in your process and then have your process perform the desired steps (i.e. revoke the document).
If you simply want to have the document revoked after a certain date or for it to only be valid for a specific period, you can do this as part of the policy definition itself. When you create a policy, you can specifiy one of the following:
1) Document will not be valid after x days
2) Document will not be valid after this date: x
3) Valid from "date 1" to "date 2"
or
4) Document is always valid (which means you would need to revoke\expire the document manually or via a process)
This functionality has always been a part of Rights management.

Imported pictures list in events as card name and not creating events by date

Trying to import my photos off a canon card into iPhoto. I clicked the card named 100Canon in my finder after selecting import in iPhoto. Instead of creating an event for each date, as there are about 10 days of photos on this card, iPhoto created one event called 100CANON and dropped every photo into that event. When I go into the file on iPhoto and select a picture, it shows the date the photo was taken.
Why did it not create an event for each day? I dumped my iPhone photos in and it separated each day as an event.
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

What have you selected in the iPhoto preferences for items imported from the Finder?
What version of iPhoto do you have?

PDF Printer and Export to Word

I was trying to export this PDF to word, and Vista would always claim that the Acrobat stopped working when it is checking the tags. Then later I was just trying to see if it would work if I start with a new PDF, so I was trying to print it. Now I get this:

Printing and Exporting to Powerpoint

Hello,
I'm a relatively new user of Xcelsius and hoping someone could guide me through the problems I have come across.
First - Printing: I've exported the Dashboard I created using Adobe and now looking to print it. For some reason, when I print from the Adobe file the page always comes out blank. The only way for me to print the Dashboard is to do so from Xcelsius in the preview mode. How can I, and those receiving the Dashboard, print from the Adobe file?
Second - Exporting to Powerpoint: I have problems exporting to Powerpoint. I can export to Adobe and Word without issue; however, when I go to export to Powerpoint, all that appears is a blank grey canvas when Powerpoint initially opens. How can I export to Powerpoint so that it works on each try?
Third - Creating a slide show of Dashboards: I'm looking to create multiple Dashboards and have them displayed in one presentation to run in one slide show. I've tried to copy and paste different Dashboards into a presentation but it won't allow me to do so. Is there a way that I could have multiple Dashboards in one presentation and run continuously as a slide show?

you need to start slideshow to see the swf in the powerpoint.
If it still does not work, you can export your dashboard to swf and insert the swf manually into powerpoint slide. You can see this thread

Print and Export button doesn't work for Crystal Report in VS 2008
