Hello jnapier99
The Officejet 6500 E709n does have a Windows 8 driver, however, it does not have a Windows 8 RT driver which is what the MS Surface tablet uses. This would explain the message you are receiving.

  • ActiveSync autodiscover not working for iPhone but for Android and Windows Phone

    Hi
We have setup an Exchange 2013 hosted environment, where different mail domains are running on it.
The main domain is mydomain.com. One of the client domains is customer.com.
Autodiscover for customer.com has a cname which points to autodiscover.mydomain.com, on our firewall this url is redirected to autodiscover-s.mydomain.com, where our public certificate for mydomain.com is applied. Autodiscover for all
our customers finally ends at autodiscover-s.mydomain.com.
Outlook WebApp, Outlook Anywhere and ActiveSync for all customers is reachable through mail.mydomain.com.
Everything works fine, except of autodiscover for iPhones. I always have to enter the server name mail.mydomain.com manually. After that ActiveSync works on iPhones as well.
The Problem doesn’t exist on Androids and Windows Phones.
    Any suggestion?
    Regards
    Peter

I want to simply sync my android and my mac itunes without downloading any software. Windows phone has an app to do that even though apple and windows phone are competitors. Why does android not make an app or why doesnt apple create an software or something

Apple didn't create the Windows Phone app (Microsoft). Apple has nothing to do with this, and Google should do an app for this

  • Hyper-V on Windows 2008R2 Running Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone

I am a lone wolf developer running Hyper-V on a legally-licensed Server running Windows Enterprise 2008R2. I have extremely limited research funding.
Since I need to evaluate Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone development for the 1080p Phone Emulator, I created a Virtual Machine of Windows 8.1 Evaluation Copy RTM on my server. I am trying to create software for the Nokia Lumia 1520 Phone-Tablet.
Everything in the Windows 8.1 Virtual Machine runs perfectly from Hyper-V on Windows 2008R2, except for one problem related to my Phone development project. Networking is perfect, the display is perfect, there are no other issues except this "gotcha".
The problem appears with the Windows Phone SDK Update 4, which supports a 1080p
Windows Phone Emulator. This emulator is supposed to load it's own instance of a Windows 8.1 Hyper-V virtual machine
when debugging the Phone Application from Visual Studio 2012 Express.
This Emulator tries to start it's own Hyper-V session inside Windows 8.1. In my humble opinion, it should be possible to do this (load a Windows 8.1 HyperV Virtual Machine inside a "parent" Virtual Machine).
It presents this error message instead:
Essentially, Windows 8.1, running in a Virtual Machine, should also be able to create a Virtual Machine inside it's own Virtual Machine. That is the required design of the Phone Emulator (must be able to intantiate a Windows 8.1 Hyper-V Virtual machine to display
    the Phone).
If that does not work, then I guess it must not be a supported configuration. If not, then I need to licence Windows 8.1 on a separate physical computer. Anyone want to tackle this?
    +__+

I have a legal, licensed Windows 2008 R2 Server with the Hyper-V Role. I then downloaded the time-limited
Windows 8.1 RTM Evaluation Version and successfully installed. It works flawlessly. Next, I installed the
Windows Phone SDK Update 4 on top of
Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Phone.
It all works flawlessly, except for one little problem.
Since I am interested in evaluating and testing the Windows Phone SDK 1080p Emulator, I must run
F5 - Start Debugging in Visual Studio in order to see my Windows Phone application in 1080p resolution. Well, the Emulator
almost completely starts up successfully, but at the last push it gives an error. This error is shown below as a JPEG.
Does anyone know which of the "Hyper-V components is not running?"

  • Solution: iPad/iPhone Login issues with IIS as Reverse Proxy (Android and Windows Phone works)

    Hi,
I had issues with iPad/iPhone access from external and tried a lot. Now I found my solution I like to share.
I setup a IIS on Windows Server 2012 with ARR 2.5 and Android and Windows Phone could login but not iPad and iPhone.
The IIS Log on the reverse proxy showed:
    2013-02-26 12:03:31 <IP> POST /webticket/webticketservice.svc X-ARR-CACHE-HIT=0&X-ARR-LOG-ID=1996c8d7-09d0-4310-8da4-a8dfb7940e28 443 - <ClientIP> Lync%202010/1.6+CFNetwork/609+Darwin/13.0.0 - 401 0 0 124

First Request gets a 401 while anonymous. Second try would be with authentication but it never reached the internal front end server.
After I installed a fix for ARR

    Hi,
This resolved our problem too!! So happy after 2 weeks of messing around with just about every setting recommended from all types of forums and rebuilding our reverse proxy I was at a loose end.
Our environment is Lync 2013 Enterprise, Lync 2013 Edge, IIS as Reverse Proxy on Server 2012 using ARR 2.5
We had Android and Windows clients working but no iOS devices at all. In the iOS log we were seeing

  • DPS support for windows 8.1 and windows phone applications?

Does the latest version of DPS support development for apps on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone or is there a roadmap for when this will be supported? It seemed like it was to be release by the end of 2013.

What do you mean by "ADP"?
All your Adobe rep will do is get you a custom viewer that you can submit to the store. You still have to publish the folios yourself to either the same account as your iOS folios, or to a different account (your choice). Remember that the Windows 8.1 viewer does not support Single Edition. It is only for professional or enterprise customers who are publishing multi-issue applications.
Our intention is to have all iPad folios render beautifully on Windows. The only overlays we don't currently support are pan and zoom, image sequence, and audio. If you don't use those overlays then you don't have to change your folios at all.
You can look at the Adobe Inspire app in Windows Store as an example. The folios there are the direct copy of the iPad folios, with no edits.

  • Eprint - Problem with ePrint Mobile and Windows Phone

    Good morning,
I purchased a printer Officejet Pro 8600 and I have the following problem:
When we try to print from mobile Nokia Lumia 920 with Windows Phone 8, works fine if I print via  attached text files (. DOC,. Txt) or. PDF or text in the message body. But when attachment is, image files (. JPG) does not work and,at the history ePrintCenter,  shows an DISCARDED or  ERROR message (attached copy of the screen). The same image files, sending mail from a PC, print correctly.
    I need help. Thank you.

    Hi kbdseattle,
Thank you for being an active member of the HP Support community.
The only way to ePrint from a Windows-based mobile phone is to email the printer.  You can find the printer's email address by pressing the 'ePrint' icon on the front panel of your printer.  When you press this icon it should display the printer's email address.  If it's not and asking you to accept the terms of service you haven't activated the web services and set up the ePrint functionality of the printer.

  • HP 950C network printer and windows 8.1

I have an HP950C printer that is usb connected to my desktop which runs XP. This printer was used on my network by my old laptop which was also XP. I now have a new laptop with Win 8.1 and the printer will not work unless I hook it up via USB. The error message is that there is no driver installled. I downloaded a driver and nothing changed. My HP disk isn't recognized by my laptop with Win 8.1. Is there a problem with getting it to work on the network because I have two different operating systems?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi 080842,
Since your printer is USB only, one of the computers on your network will have to be connected to it by USB and then share it over the network.  So the issue really is how to get Windows XP and 8.1 to share resources over a network.
The drivers for the 950c are in Windows already so no disks are needed.
These instructions are written for Windows 7 and XP, but they should work for Windows 8.1 and XP.
You will not need the step 5 as the driver for this model is built into Windows.
Step one: Windows 7 Homegroup must be setup
Printer sharing must be setup in the Homegroup settings, if one of the computers in the network is using Windows 7.
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. In the upper right corner ensure that View by has Large icons or Small icons selected.
    4. Click Network and Sharing Center.
5. Click Choose homegroup and sharing options
    6. If the Homegroup is not setup, you need to set up your homegroup before continuing.
Step two: Set the Workgroup on each computer
Each computer on the network must be set to the same Workgroup.  The workgroup name needs to be changed from the default to a new name.
    Windows XP:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right click Computer and then left click Properties.
    3. The default Workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    4. The name of the Workgroup should be changed from the default.
    5. In System Properties, click the Computer Name tab.
    6. Click the Change button.
    7. Enter the Workgroup name that is used by your entire network.  If you are changing the Workgroup name, use the same name used in Windows 7.
    8. Click OK.
    9. You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
    Windows 7:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right click Computer and then left click Properties.
    3. The Workgroup is listed in System Properties.
    4. The default Workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    5. The name of the Workgroup should be changed from the default.
    6. Change your Workgroup in Windows 7 by clicking Change settings.
    7. Click the Change button.
    8. Enter a new Workgroup name that will be used by your entire network.
    9. Click OK.
    10. You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
Step three: Setup a share account on each computer in the network
Create a common share account on each of the computers, including the computer that is sharing the printer to the rest of the network.  This share account must have the same name and password on each computer.
If you decide to use an existing account that appears on each computer all ready, this existing account must be password protected. If you do not want to password protect your default login, create a new share login as described in the following steps.
    Windows XP
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. Click User Accounts
    4. Click Create a new account.
    5. Enter the same user account name created as the share account on the Windows 7 computer.
    6. Click Next.
    7. Under “Pick an account type”, select ‘Computer Administrator’.
Note: In Windows XP you must select Computer Administrator in order setup a printer.
    8. After you new account is created, select it under ‘pick an account to change’.
    9. Click Create a password
    10. Enter the same password used when creating the share account on the Windows 7 computer, following the directions on the screen.
    11. Click Create Password button.
    12. Log off your current user account and log into the new share account to activate it.
    13. Once the computer is ready after logging into the share account, you can log off the share account and back into your regular user account.
    Windows 7
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. In the upper right corner ensure that View by has Large icons or Small icons selected.
    4. Click User Accounts
    5. Click Manage another account
    6. Click Create a new account
    7. Select Standard User
Note:  The account created should be created with the lowest security setting necessary.  Creating the share account as an administrator is discouraged.
    8. Enter a new user account name.  Use a name that is easy to remember as the account used for sharing resources across your network.  For example: ‘ShareAccount’
    9. After your new account is created, select it under “Choose the account you would like to change”.
    10. Click Create a Password
    11. Enter a new password, following the directions on the screen.
    12. Click Create Password button.
    13. Close any remaining opened windows, making a note of the new account name and password as you will need to create identical accounts and passwords on the other computers on your network.
    14. Log off your current user account and log into the new share account to activate it.
    15. Once the computer is ready after logging into the share account, you can log off the share account and back into your regular user account.
Step Four: Share the printer to the network
The computer that has the printer attached and installed by USB must have the printer shared to the network.
    Windows XP
    1. Open the printers and faxes folder in Windows XP.
Note: A hand symbol under the icon for the printer indicates it is all ready shared to the network.
    2. Right click on the printer to be shared to the network.
    3. Left click on Sharing.
    4. Click “If you understand the security risks but want to share printers without running the wizard, click here”.
    5. Select “Just enable printer sharing”.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select “Share this printer”.
    8. If the Share name is acceptable, click OK.
    9. If you want to change the Share name, enter a new name. Click OK.
Note: If the Share name entered is longer than 8 characters, you will get a warning that the printer will not be accessible from MS-Dos computers.
Step five: Install the appropriate software for your printer
Install the printer software on the other computers on the network that will need to access the shared printer.  Install the correct driver for the printer model for each computer on the network.
    1. Check for available drivers – visit the HP website and download available drivers.
Note: Even if you have an install CD for your older HP product, there may be an updated driver for your printer.
    2. Launch the driver setup by double-clicking on the downloaded driver.
    3. If the driver install process requires you to attach the printer USB cable to continue, click cancel instead.  This will roll back the install, but it will leave the driver files installed.
    4. Select the USB connection type. Look for the checkbox labeled “Connect later – Do not connect to the printer now.  I will connect it later”.
Note: You might have to select USB connection type before the checkbox is visible.
    5. Complete the install without attaching the USB cable.
    6. After the software is installed, delete any icons created on the desktop.  They will not be linked to the shared printer and will only result in errors if used.
Step six: Install the shared printer.
Note: Computers that are not sharing a resource to the network may not show up by name when viewing the entire network.
    Windows 7
    1. Click Start.
    2. Click on Computer.
    3. In the lower left pane, click on Network.
    4. Double click on the computer that is sharing the printer.
    5. Enter the name of your share account as the “User name”.
    6. Enter the same password created for the share account.
    7. Check the box labeled Remember my credentials.
    8. Click OK.
    9. Right click on the printer, left click Open.
    10. Windows will find the previously loaded driver for the printer and complete the install.

I have HP LaserJet 1018 printer and it hasn't any problem when I used windows 7 professional but problems started when I replaced it with windows 7 Ultimate 32bit , In the beganning the windows didn't detect its existance so I ran the Hppsdr tool but it didn't help so much it convinced me that the problem in the USB cable so I bought another one and another for the power and the I downloaded the driver and even a setup called hp laserjet solution but it also doen't help so much the chance that the  problem related to the hardware is imposible because I visit the maintance shop and the Beleive or Not it worked so fast without any mistakes , Now the problem definetly related to the software especially that the windows detected the printer and when I start to give the print order it stuck in the queue for a long time even if it the test page by the way also I tried to use the cleaning utility but it doen't work also as it encountered an error I don't now . The printer seems so dead now .....Help me please.

    Hi,
Looks like there is a driver conflict on the computer....
What i would suggest is to remove all of HP printer S/W and install it back...
Go to control panel>add or remove programs> uninstall any program related to the HP printer....
Restart the computer and reinstall the printer S/W
    Hope this works.......

  • HP 5150 printer and Windows 8.1

I have used this printer with Windows XP for many years. I have now changed to 8.1 and I cannot find how to display the ink levels. Have you any suggestions on how I achieve this? Thanks

    Hi,
A full feature software is not available for Windows 8.1, checking the setimated ink levels cannot be done from the PC.
Check the I've always used HP Solution Center and HP Toolbox. What do I use now? section below as a reference:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03460648&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
You may print a self test report as following, the report should show the estimated ink levels or show the print quality is free of defects:
Print a self-test report to make sure that the hardware functions correctly.
Load plain paper in the paper tray.
Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Press and hold the Power button.
Press the Resume button () four times. The self-test report prints.

  • LJ 3500 color printer and Windows 7

    Greetings everyone,
my 3500 color LJ is a great printer and I have enjoyed its use. The printer is physically attached to a computer running XP Pro SP3. I was using the printer from my desktop system through a network until I upgraded my desktop system to Windows 7.
Right now I create a PDF for any printout I need in color and go to the other computer to print it. Some exercise is the only benefit to that.
Are drivers for windows 7 going to become available? Can I use Vista drivers? Has anyone any work arounds I could try?
    thank you,
    JohnHF

    Hi @JDG1607,
I see that you are having issues networking the printer to the one computer running Windows Premium.
    I can help you.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IP address. Printing a Network Configuration Page.
Try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer on the Windows Premium.
Type the IPV4 address into your web browser's address bar. (Internet Explorer)
    Did it load the page?
Check the IP address on the computer to see if the first 3 sets of numbers match the printer's IP. They have to match to be on the same network.
Go to start, type run in the search box, type in cmd, then type ipconfig.
    Check the IPV4 address.
Now check the IPV4 address for the printer.
Do the first 3 sets of numbers match?
    Try and ping the printer.
In the same window, type ping printers IP address (space between ping and IP address)
    What are the results?
If everything checks out there, it could be your Antivirus stopping it from finding the printer.
Temporarily disable it and try the installation again.
You might need to power cycle everything.
If you are still having issues, install the printer on this computer as a USB connection and then setup the network connection.
Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network Connection.
Go to Step two: Change from a USB connection to an Ethernet connection (optional).
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • ISE and windows phone

    Ciao,
Is there a support for windows phone 7.x (8.x when it'll released) in ISE ?
    I'm talking about provisioning process:
         - Network setup Assistant
         - SCEP (I think this a windows supports)
or if W.P. will be inserted in a Cisco Design Guide ?
I need to managed W.P. as BYOD.
    Regards,
    Iarno

I checked the settings in ISE and the client provisioning policies do not have the windows phone operating system labeled. I also checked the QA and release notes and didnt find anything there either. The operating systems that you can check is the android, ios, windows 7, xp..etc and mac osx.
It would be best for you to open a TAC case to get a definite answer, my feeling is that it isnt supported. If you go this route please post what you find for future reference.
    Hope that helps.
