Printing as a booklet

Hello,
I'm trying to find iPages' equivalent of doing booklet printing.  I cannot seem to find that functionality that I usually find in MS Word.  I use it to print my sermon notes in a nice half page size and staple it as a booket.

Pages does not have the built-in ability to create booklets. It's something I've left feedback to Apple about & I suggest you do the same.
A search of this forum/community should return quite a few topics on the subject. It's a very common subject. Or you can look at the links in the "More Like This" box to the right of your question after it's posted. This one is recent. 
Or you can wade through my directions I've posted on many occasions:
1 - For users of Leopard or earlier, use Cocoa Booklet. For a folded US letter-size booklet start with your Pages document in Legal size & larger than normal font size. Export the Pages document to a PDF & then drag the PDF to the icon of Cocoa Booklet. It will create a new PDF in booklet form. For international paper sizes, create the Pages document in the larger size with a larger font, i.e. create A4 pages to create A5 folded booklets. You can also use US tabloid or A3 to create larger booklets.   CocoaBooklet no longer works in Snow Leopard so you'll need to use Create Booklet Service to create a booklet with any number of pages (best in a multiple of 4). I like the results better with CocoaBooklet, so I have made the necessary modifications to run CocoaBooklet.
This involves setting your Pages document in File > Page Setup… to landscape orientation & then paginating the document manually. I originally wrote this for Pages 2. In Pages 3 or 4, use the page layout mode for #2.
2 - Use linked text boxes. This is easier done with the layout showing. First you need to add a page break to have two pages. Click in the body area & then Insert > Page Break. Now click outside the layout area to enter object mode & click the "T" in the tool bar or Insert > Text to create a text box & type something in it. This is to keep the box from disappearing if you click elsewhere & the text can be replaced later. If you already have some text to paste in you can just paste while in object mode & a text box containing your text will be created. You will now need to click outside the layout again & drag the cursor toward the text box to select it. You can now position the first text box in the lower right of your 2-page document. It is easier to see where it goes if you have the document set up with 2 columns. Click on the blue-outlined tab at the lower right of the text box to create a new of the same size & move the box to the upper left. Repeat for a box for the upper right & again for the lower right. You will now have 4 linked text boxes.

    In the Print dialog box you should be able to indicate which page you want to print and that page will print.  For instance, if you are viewing page 4, in the Print dialog, select "current page" and page 4 prints. This won't work if your page is actually a 2-page spread.  What size is the booklet?

    When it prints it does not print full page. It leaves about a one inch column on the left hand side of each page.
    When I look at it on my screen I can see this space.  When I save it as a pdf.. which I need to do inorder to print it.. it shows it looking like it is being bound on one side.

  • Batch Printing PDF as booklets

    Hello Everyone!
    I really need some help. I am trying to batch print reports cards. The report cards need to be printed as a booklet (A3 paper folded). I created a new BATCH SEQUENCE and this works except for one small problem - when the reports print, all four pages are printed and folded just as I need them to be, but then, for some reason, pages 2 and 3 are printed again. This is frustrating as it is a waste of paper.
    I really don't know how to fix this problem. Can anyone help!

    I went to the 'Advanced' menu then chose 'Document Processing' then 'Batch Processing'. I then used the 'Print All' batch sequence. And everything was printed, but with pages two and three printed twice.
    I assume that when I choose the 'Print All' option, the last settings that were chosen on the printer will be used. This is good because I want to print my reports as a booklet.

  • How to PRINT a CD booklet in Indesign CS 5?

    I think it's alittle funny that our professor at my 4yr college is teaching us how to make a CD booklet in Indesign using Masterpages and yet he doesn't know how to print it out.
    Well I'm having trouble printing mine out. I'm making a CD booklet for a singer I like and put lyrics/backgrounds on each document.
    But, since there is two columns on one page, i made the same background stretched across, so that each page/document had a theme. My teacher said this had something to do with pagination and he didn't know how to print it out.
    this is how the pages are setup in indesign masterpages:
    1 (this is the cover)
    2-3
    4-5
    6-7
    8-9
    10-11
    12-13
    14-15
    16-17
    18 (this is the back cover)
    So whenever i print them out the pictures are not matching up right, to where if i folded each page, each page is not matching the theme.
    So here are some screenshots, I'm turning this in next week, and would really appreciate help on the printing parts!! Also, when they print out they are printing upside down i dont know how to fix this.
    and this was taken with my phone, see the images dont match up right, and also want them to be not backwards on the back. I am printing these double sided pages!

    There's a problem, I think, with Petteri's solution, and that's that he's got all the extra pages to the right of the spine.  When you do island spreads you have to be sure that you have some sort of symmetry so the pages will back up properly, whether in this case you have all the spreads with two pages on either side of the spine, or if you alternate sides with the ones and threes.
    But I can see now why your instructor said he didn't know how you would print this. you want 4 pages together (or two double-width pages, which would be another way to set it up). That combined width is bigger than any sheet of paper that is likely to run in your printers without tiling and pasting the pages together at some point. It would be no problem on a press, but you aren't going to run one booklet on a press. If your printers can handle 13 x 19 sheets you might be able to find a printer willing to cut you some from a lerger sheet, or you might be able to find a ream someplace, but it will be expensive and you might not get the stock you want, and even on that size sheet I'm afraid you'd have clipping on the outer left and right ends where you run into the non-printing area on the edge of the sheet. The other option would be to run on a wide-format inkjet plotter.
    Ask your professor if you can print this at reduced size as a proof of concept and you may be able to output on equipment that is available to you at school.
    But that brings us back to the problem of page count. Your example has 12 panels, not 18. If you want to have a 4-panel spread like this, you need to be working in multiples of 8 panels for your design -- 4 panels on each side of the sheet. You can leave some blank if you want to, but you need to conscioulsly put those blanks where you want them.

    The booklet MUST be setup during the design phase before exporting to PDF. We can't change layout of pdf files unless we have a very expensive product called Acrobat. For up-side-down, when printing duplex, change Flip long/short edge option will fix this. Please try:
    Click Print > Properties (or Printer setup) > Under Both side option change Flip long edge (can be short edge).

    I have a PDF that I would like to print. When I go to my print options, in the lower left I can select "PDF Booklet." I select that option and it looks as though the pages are being compiled. But after a few moments, I get this warning:
    The action "PDF Booklet" could not be loaded because it is not Universal. Please ask the developer for a Universal version of the action.
    What does this mean, and how can I fix this so I can print my document as a booklet?
    I have Preview version 5.0.3

  • Printing multiple small booklets, back-to-back, on one sheet of paper?

    Can it be done? I've designed six 16-page tiny booklets (finished size is business card size) and I'm self publishing them (not sending to a printer).
    To conserve paper, I'd like to print out three on each 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. Can this be done with InDesign? [I just bought CS this week:(]

    Not with a one-click solution, but if you create an imposed PDF (Print Booklet on Windows or Mac running Leopard or earlier, or print to Postscript from Print Booklet and distill in Snow Leopard, or run an imposing script to make an new file and export spreads from any OS) you can place that muliple times to make your n-up sheets.     I bought the Jonas L.A. soundtrack and it came with a digital booklet. How do I print it so it will fit into a CD case. I've tried everything. By the way I'm a PC so I don't have iPhoto.

    You have a history of creating spot color files - but are using a new vendor...what I'm hearing from the vendor doesn't make sense
    ...do my checks and fixes in Acrobat and send it to the printer, ...
    Have you checked the PDF - verified that your Spot colors are Spots, not cmyk builds?
    The current printer is having an issue with the files that I'm giving him. He says, that the files contain CMYK profiles, and has to strictly be 2 color process.
    Communicate very clearly  - cmyk profiles or cmyk elements?
    To my limited knowledge, every file will have a profile - it's a moot element in spot color printing -

    Anybody an idea, how to change the layout of a CD-Booklet or the List of an Album with iTunes? E.g. choose another font, or more important choose another fontsize? I am afraid this is not possible, but would wish to be more flexible in that area.
    Would Acrobat Writer help (I think so, but don't have one)?

    Check out The Print Shop 2 for OS X, from Broderbund and Software Mackiev. It has specific support for printing on CD insert kits from Avery and others. Several of the templates include a spine for the edge of a CD case.
    If you don't want to pay the high price of the commercial die cut inserts, you can print on plain paper (letter or A4) and use a paper cutter. Inkjet paper sold for brochure printing is particularly nice for front of case booklets because it is photo quality, double sided, and a good weight.
    The program will import playlist contents from iTunes (your choice of fields such as title, artist, composer ...), and unlike the iTunes print command you can edit and reformat the result using whatever fonts, colours etc you want. Wide choice of styles for title printing, and for cropping pictures in various shapes. Also support for directly printing on a printable CD or DVD with some Epson or Canon inkjets. What it does not do unfortunately is import cover art automatically, but copy and paste works well.
    I've been using this program for over a year, and keep finding new things to do with it. It's also great if you ever want to create certificates or greeting cards.

  • Why is Adobe printing as a booklet when I DO NOT WANT IT TO?

    I have never printed a booklet and DO NOT WANT to print a booklet but Adobe has decided that it is going to print everything as a booklet anyway. Why?
    I DO NOT have booklet printing set. When I Print Preview the document it looks completely normal. BUT then when it actually prints it is as a booklet (and it doesn't print all the pages). I have uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe reader. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my printer. So far the issue remains. How do I fix this?

    I have other Xerox printers in the office on our server/network that are working just fine. The Global Print Driver description says that it "...manages all Xerox printers on your network...". Is there any chance that installing this driver on the one computer will have a negative impact on any of the other printers? I just want to know before trying it so that I am not caught off guard if something else goes awry.

    I recently purchase an album from the iTunes store that included a digital booklet, which I assume is that same thing that a person would get if they bought the CD from a store.
    I would like to be able to print the booklet sized correctly so it will fit in a CD case. When I view it in Preview and print a page it prints the full size of a 8.5 x 11 in paper. Is there a way to print it so it is the right size to fit a CD case?

    I've got the same question. I bought two albums today and they came with digital booklets. They're nice liner notes, but I wonder why they are not already formatted to be CD-sized (like the "Print CD jewel case insert" feature is).
    I tried guessing a size reduction to 75% but that still wouldn't have turned out right. Does anyone have any success with this?

    How do I print a 16 page booklet 4 pages up, bothsided, without acrobat scaling my pages to a very small size and only printing 2 up, instead of 4 up?  It looks like Acrobat thinks the pages are all 8.5x11 but they are 4.25x5.5.
    How can I remedy this problem.

    You can print to a new PDF and select the 4-up in the printer properties (in some versions, I think there may be a multi-up on the print menu). My experience is that the margins seem to shrink the pages some and I have never figured a way out of that one. You might try to crop the pages to no margins first and then try the print from Acrobat to a new PDF.
