Printing at Ricoh C3501 with user code

My MBP running below printer drivers for printing to Ricoh C3501 with user code.
foomatic-rip-4.0.6.230.dmg
gplgs-8.71.dmg
pxlmono-1.9.dmg
RicohUserCodes.command
As Matt Broughton recommanded before upgrade. The printing worked fine.
After upgrade to Yosemite, my MBP can no longer print on Ricoh c3501. Checking the printing queue, the print job is gone, but, actually, the doc is not printed.
This was happen if I select color print but using grayscale user code, but this time I select grayscale printing and using grayscale user code and still could not print as my MBP did before iOS upgrade.
After checking my colleagues, all the Mac in my company upgrading to Yosemite have the same printing problem.
Please help out what else I can do to fix the issue.
Thank you.
Bill

  • Printing with user codes on an INFOTEC 2245 network printer

    I am trying to print over a windows printserver to an INFOTEC 2245 network printer, using samba. Though I can download a printer driver, there is no possibility in system preferences to specify a user code, needed to get access to the printer. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    foow wrote:
    using consecutively the manufacturers driver,
    If you used the INFOTEC driver from their web site, you will need to run the following command in the Terminal (/Applications/Utilties):
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/RICOH/</pre>
    This assumes that your printer has the PostScript option installed. You can then enter your UserCode under the JobLog section of Printer Features in a print window.
    the Gutenprint driver and the generic Postscript driver. No joy.
    Neither of those drivers contain options to set user codes.
    What puzzles me is that I can print to that printer, with user codes, using CUPS and Samba under Linux. I also tried to use the Linux PPD, or the part relating to user codes, in the OS X PPD, but that did not work either.
    There are two PPDs for use on Linux. If your printer has the PostScript module installed, you could use the PostScript PPD from http://openprinting.org/foomatic-db/db/source/PPD/Infotec/PS/Infotec-IS2245PS.ppd
    Enter your user code under Printer Features > Feature Sets: JobLog
    If your printer does not have the PostScript module installed, you can use the pxlmono drivers from http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/pxlmono
    I probably have to conclude that the drivers that are accepted by Snow's CUPS do not provide for user codes at the moment.
    There should be no problem getting UserCodes to be accepted -- at least with a direct connection bypassing the Windows print server.

  • Ricoh 3245C with access codes for color printing

    Hello,
    We have a Ricoh 3245C and some MacBook Pro users with OS X Snow Leopard. The printer is configured so that a user needs an access code to print in color, but anyone can color in black and white.
    When Mac users try to print, the print queue says the job is paused, and the job never prints. It doesn't matter if the document is color or B and W.
    Help.
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi Matt, et al. Thanks for the replies.
    Just to re-iterate what I wrote above, we are using a Ricoh Pro 906 EX printer, and have attempted authenticated printing on the Mac with PPD's obtained from both the Ricoh website as well as the open source versions you reference. (Not sure what the "job log" reply above was about.) In that effort, we wrote to Richo at solutions(at)ricoh-usa.com to ask about authenticated printing features on the Mac. I will spare the group the entire discussion thread, but here are the relevant exchanges.
    '--- My original inquiry - Sept 22, 2010 ---
    Hello,
    Our office has a Ricoh Pro 906 EX printer and we are having a lot of trouble getting our Apple Mac users setup to print. After downloading your latest Mac/OSX driver software, we still do not see a place to enter User Codes and Passwords for individual users like the Windows driver software has. As a result, no print jobs are sent to the printer.
    Basically, what we are trying to do is Authenticated Printing. I note that there are several different places where Ricoh printers ask for "User Code" or "User ID" or etc. One thing I see on our Windows machines is a place to enter Authentication credentials -- THIS IS WHAT WE NEED -- but we can't find the matching dialog box on the Mac. I included a screenshot from a Windows machine we have setup and working. I think we just need to know if the Mac supports Authenticated Printing.
    Can you assist?
    '--- Final Reply - Sept 23, 2010 ---
    Mr. <snip>
    To give you some background information, Ricoh devices can be set up with multiple forms of authentication (that is built-in to the machine) such as:
    a. User Codes -- You can have up to 500 distinct user codes defined. Instead of someone inputting their User Name & Password they enter in a 4-8 digit number.
    b. Basic Authentication -- You can define user names & passwords on the copier. In order to print (or copy if it's set up that way) you would have to put in both the user name and password defined on the copier.
    c. Windows (Active Directory) Authentication -- You can input your Windows user name & password. Obviously you have to be a user on the domain in question.
    d. LDAP Authentication -- You can input a user name & password and then the copier tries to verify that you are a user against your LDAP server. You must specify the LDAP server to use.
    Based on what you explained and your screenshots I would assume that the Ricoh copier is set up with "Basic Authentication".
    Without going to a lot of trouble & hassle (I.E. to convince someone to do a driver customization) the MACs do not directly support Basic Authentication. The only type of authentication + tracking solution that works with the MAC PPDs (and is built-in) are User Codes. So instead of everyone having a user name && password they would be assigned a number (4 to 8 digits) that they would input when they need to print or copy. We could look into a customized driver option, but if you are only serving 20 users it would not be cost effective. Have you considered just "upgrading" people to Windows? There may be some other solutions that Ricoh offers that may work well for you. You may want to contact the sales person for the account and they can work with you to see what options would work best.
    Thank you,

  • Empty field Validation before Print, What's Wrong with THIS code??

    I have been trying unsuccessfully to get this code to work.. I am stumped!  I created a print button.  Then added this script under "Form Calc" in the Click event of the button.  But when clicked nothing happens.  I have a radio button group that has different options but I only want to make the field NameofReferralSource required if the user checks Broker.  The print button is on page 1.  The field and radio button group are on page 7.  I just can't figure out how to get this to work.  I don't necessarily need to make the fields required since then I would have to add script remove the red border and add a message telling user where the field is otherwise they will have to search through 6 pages to find it. (maybe a better solution?)  I just want a simple code that fires when the user hits the Print, Save, or Submit button to check if Broker name is empty and if it is, prompt them to fill in.  Help!
    if ((topmostSubform.Page7.NameofReferralSource.rawValue == null)  & (topmostSubform.Page7.Howdidyouhear.0.rawValue == "Broker")) then
    xfa.host.messageBox("You must enter the the Name of the Broker under Referral Name on Page 7 to be able to print this form")
    else
    Print_Form.execEvent("click")
    endif
    Brenda

    Ok, well my reference to the fields were incorrect.  Here is the new code:
    if (Page7.NameofReferralSource.rawValue == null){
    xfa.host.messageBox("You must enter the the Name of your Referral on the bottom of Page 7 to be able to print this form");
    }else{
    Print_Form.execEvent("click");
    xfa.host.print(1, "0", (xfa.host.numPages -1).toString(), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0);
    The first part that checks for an empty field and displays a message works however the print dialog still pops up after the user clicks ok to the error message.  Any ideas?

  • Ricoh Aficio MP C4501 with access codes for color printing

    Hi,
    I read the discuss called "Ricoh 3245C with access codes for color printing", and I have a similar problem with a Ricoh MPC4501 printer. The printer is connected to many Windows PCs and my brand new iMac. It requires just User Codes authenication. PostScript is not installed on the printer (could this be the problem?). I've tried all the suggestions brought up in the mentioned discussion but I still can't print. It seems like the printer is not connected to the Mac. Here are the answers to the questions asked in the previous discussion:
    Is PostScript module installed?
    No, I guess. PS is not one of the languages included on the Configuration Page.
    What languages does your printer understand?
    RPCS [3.10.14], PCL 5c [1.02] and PCL XL [1.02]
    What drivers are you using?
    I tried the one from the Ricoh site for OS10.8 (http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/ra/model/mpc41/mpc41en.htm) as well as the driver (three downloads) from Linux (http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o). Neither worked. It might be helpful to mention that the Linux driver enabled me to print to a Ricoh Aficio MP 4001 that doesn't require authentication.
    How are you entering your User Code?
    Depending on the application. For Adobe apps, which are my main concern, I would have to click on the Printer button in the Print dialog to open the system Printer dialog, then enter the user code there under Job Log. I had to use the script provided in the previous discussion (http://webpages.charter.net/mbroughtn/beta/RicohUserCodes.zip) to add my User Code.
    How are you connecting to the printer -- what protocol?
    I'm not sure. I didn't find any of the protocols cited in the previous discussion on the Configuaration Page. If it helps, I know that the printer has an IP address on the network. And as I mentioned, it's mainly connected to many Windows PCs.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Can't help with user codes, but I suggest you try IP HP jetdirect first whenever you add an enterprise net printer. You could always look on a windows computer for printer port configjration. There, you will find jetdirect called raw port 9100 protocol.

  • How do I configure an IP Printer that requires a user code?

    Hi, I am using my Macs in a shared office environment where we have a Ricoh printer accessible via an IP address. The instructions for configuring the printer are written for Windows Vista and Windows XP users (sigh). I am able to add the printer by typing in its IP address, and I get a list of some printer options. But apparently this printer requires clients to log in with a user code before starting a print job and therefore my print commands from my Mac don't get processed. How do I do this from Leopard?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    DXB Law wrote:
    Yes, I am aware that it is my own IT management that requires the user code, not the printer,
    I only mentioned it because there are many people that think it is all "the printer's fault" that they need a user code.
    and my IT management has given me step-by-step instructions for how to configure Windows Vista to transmit that user code to the printer. But it seems that you are saying there is no configuration option in Leopard that allows for the transmission of a user code to a network printer?
    I don't know enough about Windows to comment on the different way things are handled. In the case of the Ricoh printers, the user code is submitted with the print job. PCL printers include PJL data along with the job. For PostScript printers, Ricoh does supply drivers with printer extensions that allow for the user to input their user code via the normal user interface.
    For non-PostScript network printers, Ricoh uses either a PCL 5 variant or PCL 6/PCL XL. There are several generic drivers for these printer languages, so users on most, if not all, other operating systems can print to the Ricoh printers. Further, Ricoh actually provides the PPDs for their printers that include all the extra functions (user codes, stapling, etc) that are available for a particular model. These PPDs get included in the OpenPrinting foomatic database. That way users of any system that can utilize the foomatic scheme will be able to print to Ricoh printers. This is not limited to Mac OS X. Foomatic supports CUPS, LPRng, LPD, GNUlpr, Solaris LP, PPR, PDQ, and CPS. It would be nearly impossible to write a specific graphical user interface for all the variants of Unix and Linux. That is why you must resort to editing a PPD file by hand.
    You may be able to eventually help other Mac OS X users by letting Ricoh tech support politely know that it would be *most helpful* to have an easy to use user interface to input your user code. With there being more and more Mac OS X users, I hope they will do something to keep their customers happy.
    Just remember, there are some manufacturers that still use proprietary printer languages for network printers. If they don't support your system, tough luck.

  • Printer User Code

    I use a network printer that requires user codes. I have been unable to find where I can enter this code on my mac in order to print to network printer. Any suggestions?

    There are two ways you can achieve this. One is to use Presets and the other is to use the CUPS web interface.
    With regards to the User Codes, if a user will always be using the same code and they have the only user account of the Mac they use, then the CUPS interface would be better as you can set the code as a default (and b&w printing for that matter). But if a user has different user codes, or they are not the only user on a particular Mac, then the Presets could be a better option.
    To create a Preset, select to print a document and with the print dialog open, set the user code in the appropriate menu. Then click on the Presets drop menu (located under the Printer name) and select Save As. Give an identifiable name and select it for this printer only and then OK. Now when you print you can select this Preset and the user code fields will be correctly entered.
    You could take this a step further and save the b&w setting with this preset. Or you could make two presets, both with the same user code but one as colour and the other as b&w.
    If you wanted to make the settings default rather than use Presets then you can open the CUPS web page (http://127.0.0.1:631/printers/) in Safari. This will show the installed print queues. Select the Lanier queue, this will show another page that will have a Maintenance and Administration drop menu. Via the Administration drop menu, select Set Default Options. With the next page that appear select General and then scroll through the listed options until you see the User Code entry. Set your number and then if you wanted to scroll through to the Colour setting you can also set it to B&W. With these set, scroll all the way to the bottom and click Set Default Options. If prompted, enter your Admin name and password to save the change. Now you can exit Safari and test your print settings.

    It seems that either there is no default printer setup or you have too many printers or no printer setup at all. Try running the following code. It should print the list of available print services.
    import java.awt.print.*;
    import javax.print.*;
    public class PrintServiceNames{
         public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
              PrintService[] printServices = PrinterJob.lookupPrintServices();
              int i;
              for (i = 0; i < printServices.length; i++) {
                   System.out.println("P: " + printServices);
    }From the list pick one of the print service names and set it explicitly like "printerJob.setPrintService(printServices);" and then try running the program.

  • Where do I enter a user code for a shared office printer?

    Hello All,
    At work we have a shared printer and everyone has separate user codes so we can identify who prints what.  In previous versions of Windows, there is a "Valid Access Tab" which leads one to a place where one can enter a Valid Access code, or
    a user code, or a PIN, or whatever you want to call it.
    I can not find a place to enter this number in Windows 8.  Please help.

    I can not find a place to enter this number in Windows 8.
    On which version of W8?  Others have noticed that some functionality related to printing is only available in W8 Pro.  However, so far as I am aware nobody has bothered checking if that is only affecting the availability of GUI support or all support
    for such functions.  For example, I showed one poster that it may be that WMIC could be used to provide an alternative to GUI display and left it as a TBD whether that idea could be extended to control via WMIC as well.

    and that reminds me that there is even simpler access via Powershell.  So who knows, maybe simpler control too?   ; )

  • Basic Package Deployment - Failed with exit code 1

    Hello everyone!
    I am new to SCCM and I am trying to create my first package and it is a basic one (I suppose).
    What I am trying to do is to install the File & Printer Sharing service on all Windows 7 computers in our domain. It is completely uninstalled (not only uncheck from the network adapter properties).
    I created a .cmd with these two lines
    cmd /c
    netcfg /c s /i MS_Server
    I create the package/program and configure it to download and run locally. I always get this error in execmgr : Script for Package:ALI00022, Program: File & Printer Sharing - Installation failed with exit code 1 execmgr 10/5/2014 5:55:43 PM 1712
    (0x06B0)
    I can see the package has been downloaded in the folder c:\windows\ccmcache\ of the client machine.
    When I launch the file there by running it as Administrator, it does work perfectly.
    When I launch the file by opening a command prompt (not running as administrator) it is not working. I am now supposing that the main problem I have is when my script need to be run as an administrator, it doesn't work.
    Thank you for your help!

    I used psexec to run the script in the SYSTEM context and it is working correctly.

  • Ricoh c3501 printer driver for MBP OSX Mavericks10.9.5

    Recently, I just bought 13 inch MBP. After tried to installed the c3501 printer driver I used have, but failed.
    The New MBP can NOT print to c3501 as I did at MBA.
    Please advise what I shall do to fix this?
    Thank you.

    I am going to do some combining of posts here.  I hope I can remember to get all that needs to be answered.
    I found the problem was at the "RicohUserCodes.command" executing order. I shall add printer first, then execute the script to change the user code.
    As greg mentions, you need to add the printer before using the script.  The script only looks at installed printers for eligible printers that have Ricoh UserCodes.
    Now, my NEW MBP with Mavericks 10.9.5 can print grayscale doc.
    You should now have the ability to print grayscale or color documents.  The choice is under the Printer Features section in the print window.  Many organizations will allow most users to print grayscale without a User Code.  They require a User Code only for color printing.  Other organizations require a User Code for all printing.
    After reading the comments, looks like there is a patch for GPL Ghostscript 8.63. As I execute the revision 8.7.1, can I apply the same patch to fix the double side printing issue? If yes, what is the procedure to apply the patch?
    No, you do not need to apply a patch.  I think you can assume that it has been incorporated into Ghsostscript 8.71.  Most of the time, all patches are incorporated into the next release.
    I found a problem on printing Win-Word document. If a word document file with section breaks, the printing job will be divided. This would affect double side printing. Any update driver to fix this issue? or ...
    I think that is a Word document problem only.  Does duplex work in all other cases?
    I think if you search other posts in the printing forums here, you will find similar complaints.  One idea for a work around that comes to mind is to save each section as a PDF and then combine the PDFs before printing.  I find that Word doesn't collate multiple copies of a document the way other applications do.
    greg sahli wrote:
    Unfortunately, there is a bug that will affect two-side printing.
    Read the comments here:
    http://www.openprinting.org/driver/pxlcolor/
    That page, like most of the OpenPrinting site, is ancient greg.  I am not sure much, if any of it, is still relavent.  How many years ago was Ghsoscript 8.63 and the CUPS PostScript driver that are mentioned on that page?  I would think that the CUPS PostScript driver has been improved since then.
    In any event, I added a printer instance for the Ricoh c3105 and did a print to file selecting duplex.  The duplex was set using a PJL command.

  • Setting the User Code for RICOH Aficio MP C 4000

    Hi guys, initially I had trouble setting my office network printer. But the thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2235451 helped a lot. Now I am still stuck as the office uses "user codes" for each of the staff but when I tried to set it up, i couldn't punch in any numbers as only 4 options were presented ie nos from 1001-1004.
    I might be wrong but it seems to me that the user codes could be hardcoded in a text file somewhere. Question is how do I do that?
    Thanks

    so ive read and done everything on this feed. i also noticed that this question was marked at answered but it doesnt seem like the answer should be to hook into another printer.
    im trying to print to my office printer, Ricoh aficio mp c5000, and im so close i can taste it but i must be missing something.
    ive called applecare, ricoh, downloaded wayyy too many drivers, done everything in this feed and still nothing... well not exactly.
    when i hit print the printer wakes up and makes noise but it doesnt pickup any paper or actually print. i can hear things startup and start spinning but nothing prints.
    i know that for all the pc's that work on this printer, have to print in black and white or otherwise enter a Valid Access for color. I dont even see the option of valid access in the print settings.
    also
    i saw an option of finisher, option tray, upper internal tray, and internal shift tray. would those settings play a part as to why im not printing (using the Ricoh Aficio MP C5000 PXL driver)

    I want to make a remote connection to Weblogic server and print all the users/groups present in it.
    I have gone through the below mentioned site, but I cannot use the same approach since most of the API' are deprecated for example "weblogic.management.MBeanHome;"
    http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/11/10/list-users-and-groups-in-weblogic-using-jmx/
    Thanks in advance,
