Printing BI Publisher report from OAF Page WITHOUT Preview or Save Option

I have a requirement to print a BI Publisher Report on the invoke of a Button from a OAF Page. I have followed the method suggested in the below link to integrate OAF and BI Publisher.-

In this scenario, I already developed Data Definition (XML) and Template (RTF) for the report and a self service page with 'Generate PDF' button. When the button is clicked the template is getting filled with the data from the database and displaying the PDF output. A dialog box with 'Open/Save/Cancel' appears before the PDF document is shown.
But my requirement is to avoid this dialog box and Save option so when the button is clicked the document has to be directly sent to the printer.
Is there anyway to achieve this? Please help as this is very urgent..

For an example that should be very close to what you need to do, see the comments section of this page:

Find the comment titled: "Alternative: BlobDomain from data template"
The great thing about using a Data Template is that, while you are NOT concurrent program dependent, you can still set up a concurrent program to run it for other purposes if you wish. Data Templates offer a lot more flexibility.

In the method mentioned in the above link, we would have to create many VO's to generate the XML, since the XML needed in our case is a detailed one, we would need to create many VO's to achieve this. Hence looking out for a way in which we can invoke the Data Definition (XML) already registered in the BI Publisher.
Any inputs to achieve this would be helpful.

Hi Sreekanth;
Change your output type from PDF to HTML. Then it will give you clear error message in HTML page after fixing it if you able to see/run report fine in HTML then change your output type back to PDF.

We have need to submit a XML Publisher report from Quoting/iStore module in Oracle Ebusiness. The out put should be viewable in PDF format and user should be able to print. can anyone pls help on how this can be achieved.

OAF: passing parameters to report from OAF page and running concurrent prog

Hi Everyone,
i have an OAF page with 10 fields after filling those fields i need to press "Submit" button.
On pressing Submit button 5 parameters i have to pass to the xml publisher report to run the concurrent program and display the output in pdf format.(Out of 10 fields on the page the first 5 fields will be passed as parameters)
How can i pass parameters from OAF page to the report(concurrent program)?
and how can i call concurrent program?
and how can display the output of the report in pdf format after calling the concurrent program?

XML report will generate output in PDF format , first you need to try generating report separately , manually submit
the concurrent program and make sure every thing goes well .
Once the above step is done you can try to submit the concurrent from controller class . The submitRequest method
will return the request ID of the concurrent program .
Now with the help of this request ID you can redirect the page to Oracle standards Request Page( you can monitor
the status of concurrent program and view output ) this can be done with the following piece of code

Creating an XML Report from OAF page

Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a PDF report from an OAF page. From the below code , I was able to print the XML with the values.
I know i should map this XML to RTF by creating the Data defiition through XML publisher responsibility.
My understanding :
1. Generate the XML from Conttroller
2. Load the XML to RTF and map the fields
3. Register as Data Definition and RTF
4. Output seen
MY QUESTION IS : If i load the values from the below XML to the RTF and register in the data definition , i will get the same values every time it is right . From my understanding, if the data has to change in the report, ,there should be a way which will directly send the generated xml from the controller to the RTF (Without step2)

Thanks for your reply. I have gone through the link you provided . It gave me excellent information. But just one clarification , when we create the data definition, dont we have to add any of the files like 'XML Schema','Data Template','Preview Data','Bursting Control File'.
The reason, i am asking this question is, when i proviously worked with XML reports in 11.10.2, we used to attach a .xml file to the Data Template of the data definition ,which would populate the RTF.
Now here, if i dont attach that file in the data definition, will the XML data direclty mapped from contrlloer ?. I assume ,The only thing i need to do is to MAP the XML tags to RTF before registering ..

Calling XML Publisher Report from OAF using the conc programs xml output

Hi all
I am trying to call a report from oa Framework. I have developed the Template in the Ms-Word and for Generating the xml data i used the view object defined in OAF, this approach is working for me...i used the following code to do this in the AM as mentioned in many places...
public XMLNode getEmpDataXML()
OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)findViewObject("EmpVO1");
XMLNode xmlNode = (XMLNode) vo.writeXML(4, XMLInterface.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
return xmlNode;
now i want that instead of the view object i should use the xml generated by the report which is registered as concurrnet program with output as xml.
I am submitting the concurrent program and able to get the request id ...
Now from here what should i do.. please suggest...

I am thinking of doing something very similar. What i was planning on doing is submitting the request, and then redirecting the user to the concurrent request page. They can then use the standard functionality to view output and get the xml to use the appropriate template.
i would be interested in how you get the concurrent request id from the submitted job.

Print BI Publisher Report from SIM

Hi.
Can I set some parameters in the report link .xdo in SIM for print a report?
I want to print a report in XSL-XML (from XSL template) format by default!! (and NOT in XML Data BI Publisher).
Like: /folder/name_report/name_report.xdo?_xt=XMLDIRECT&_xf=txml.

I think you can create a default printer in BI that would print any report that is scheduled in BI. In windows you would be required to share the printer using IIS on linux you would be required to share the same using a CUPS server

Error While Running XML Inline Report From OAF Page.

Iam getting the below error whiile generating the XML Inline Report using : DocumentViewerRn
*"An error encounterd either due to invalied Template details or due to null Data Input Stream. "*
We tested the same in other instance , it is working fine without issues.
I check about the XMLData, there is no issue in it too.
Any Thoughts about the reason for the issue ?

How to use 2 vo's in xml publisher pdf genarate report from oaf--urgent

i am integrating xml publisher report from oaf. I found one good artical published by prabaker in apps2fusion site and i implemented the same. But it is used onley one view object to generate pdf. But in my case i want to use 4 view objects to generate report as pdf. So, kindly suggest me how to resolve this issue.

Hi,
When we develop simple XML report also we used to get single data source either generated either from RDF or PL/SQL, in OAF XML data is coming from VO and XML Publisher API’s will process that data.
This approach works fine if you are having one VO, but if you are having two VOs then it is not possible (As per my understanding and comparing this scenario with simple XML publisher report).
I also faced same problem few months back, on my form I was having two VOs one for header and other for Lines and I have generate Report to show the data for both Headers and Lines. In my case I created a separate VO that was containing both Header and Line details and I was passing header Id to query that. I used query this VO only when someone clicks on “Print” button and it worked fine for me.

I have an HTML page (with JavaScripts),
I want to Run BI Publisher report from this page directly to a printer. (and send parameters).
Can anyone help me, and send me Demo URL or Demo code to do this?

you are going to have build out a servlet that the page can call. The servlet will need to implement the supported web services to schedule a report. The schedule can include the delivery options ie to a printer. So you would create a schedule that runs the report immediately via the scheduler and then to the printer.
I dont currently have any servlet demos but the services are pretty well covered in the user docs.
check them out and give it a try, if you get stuck let me know
