Printing Booklets to an HP Color LaserJet 9500w/Multi-Function Finisher

I work for a private art school with a strong Graphic Arts program. WE recently purchased a Multi-function Finisher for our HP Color LaserJet 9500 hdn which has duplexing capabilities. Weve run into a road block trying to output booklets from InDesign that are saddle-stitched, folded and stapled.
The HP support people are recommending that I take a step backwards and try outputing from MS Word. Not really an option at a school where we consider the page layout standard as Adobe InDesign.
If anyone can shed some light on workable settings for this in CS3 please contact me at: [email protected] Many thanks.

How to print from iphone to hp color laserjet CM1017 MFP printer

In order to AirPrint from your iPad/iPhone, here's all you need to do:
    1. Make sure the printer and iPad/iPhone are connected to the same local network.
    2. Open something you want to print (on the iPad/iPhone).
    3. On the iPad/iPhone, tap the "Action" button (arrow curving out of a box).
    4. Tap "Print".
If you have any issues with printing, below are some steps that should help you out!
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Completely power off the iOS devices (hold the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until a message appears asking you to "Slide to power off". Slide across that bar, and it should completely power off).
    3. Power the printer back on.
    4. Power the iOS devices back on.
    5. Try to print again.
Those steps usually resolve the issue. If they do not, try this additional steps:
    6. Power cycle your router (usually done by unplugging the router’s power cord, waiting 20 seconds, and plugging it back in).
    7. Make sure that the iOS devices and the printer are all connected to the same network, then try to print.

  • Can't Print From iPhoto 8 to Color LaserJet

I recently purchased an iMac with iPhoto 8 installed. This is the cleanest, easiest-to-use version of iPhoto yet!
Except for a huge problem: I cannot print from iPhoto to my HP Color LaserJet 4650. I can print to that printer from all other applications, including photos in Photoshop and Preview. But when I try to print from iPhoto, I get a message on my printer saying "insufficient memory," which is not true. There is enough printer memory (160 mb) to handle almost any print job I can throw at it. Also, others can print photos from their older versions of iPhoto to the same printer without issues.
I have called HP, who say there are no known issues with their printers and iPhoto 8. I have also trashed the iPhoto preferences with no luck. Even my outside tech guy is stumped. For the time being, I can work around by exporting photos to the desktop and printing in Photoshop or Preview, but I would like to print directly from iPhoto. Any advice?

    Scott:
Thanks for the direction. Tom Rice's link took me to a site where I downloaded some scripts and a driver. After selecting the driver for my HPCLJ4650 everything worked just fine. I don't know why Apple and/or HP are not aware of the problem, but when I read the discussion link you sent me, it sounds like there are a lot of users out there having the same problems with their HP printers and iPhoto '08.
    Anyway, I appreciate the help!

  • Automatic Duplex Printing not working on HP Color LaserJet 3600DN in Windows 7. It worked before.

I have an HP color laserjet 3600 DN on Windows 7.  This computer came w/ Windows Vista and a 3600DN driver was installed and the computer was upgraded to Windows 7.  The printer did automatic duplex printing.
At one point, my computer indicated that it could no longer find the printer.  In an effort to solve this problem, I uninstalled the printer. When I tried to reinstall the printer the computer could not find the driver. At that point I tried to download a windows 7 CLJ 3600 DN driver.  Since HP doesn't provide this driver for Windows 7, I tried to download the Windows Vista driver for 3600DN.
However, when I go to the appropriate webpage by following the links, only drivers for Color Laserjet 3600 are listed (no 3600DN drivers).
As far we can tell it only allows Manual Duplex printing (no automatic duplex printing).  Clicking the "Two Sided Duplex Printing" option is there but only works when the "print on both sides (Manual)" is set on the Finishing page.  If manual is turned off, then it becomes single sided.
Can I get a driver that will allow me to do automatic duplex printing on on my HP CLJ 3600 DN using Windows 7?

How did you replave the duplex belt? How to deassemble the backside of a officejet and click the new belt on? I can't see nor do it y self

  • Very slow printing Illustrator CS3 to HP Color Laserjet 3600

    Howdy!
OS X 10.5.8 G5 dual 2.0. Printer is connected via Ethernet. I've created new printers using Bonjour, IP address, and HP IP printing under Other...
Illustrator hangs upwards of ten minutes with a beachball at the "Printing Page:" window, before the file shows up in the print queue.
Illustrator is printing fine to all my other printers, (hp Deskjet & 2 Epson Pro 4000's) and all my other apps print to the HP Color Laserjet 3600 nice and speedily. If I reboot, it takes about 45 seconds on the first print, then back to 10 + minutes, after that.
Happens with any Illustrator file. I've created several new files, both RGB and CMYK. Acrobat will print these files nice and speedily. I can place them in InDesign, and it prints them nice and speedily.
CS2 also hangs in the same fashion.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

I don't know if this is related, but...
My MacBook Pro (Airport) has always been dicey connecting to an HP LaserJet 4000 on my wired LAN. Before Snow Leopard, I used AppleTalk rather than IP printing because it just worked.
But Snow Leopard doesn't support AppleTalk any more, so I reinstalled the printer to connect via JetDirect (which supposedly provides more features). When it works, it works fine. But very often I get a message that it can't connect to the printer. The only thing I've found that fixes the problem is power-cycling the printer, which somehow enables queued jobs to print. Needless to say, this gets old.
Is there some trick I'm missing?

  • Printing Acrobat files with HP Color LaserJet 2605dtn

Often, but not every instance, when I print an Adobe Acrobat file on the HP Color LaserJet 2605dtn Printer the following happens: the text prints as expected but the entire text area (but not the margins) is painted over with an orange red. This happens whether there is a graphic image in addition to text in the documents or when there is text only. With other Acrobat files, the text and/or graphic prints without a problem. I would like to know how to fix this problem.

It's featured on the forums before. For some reason Acrobat 8 doesn't go well with HP colour laserjet printers. I've suffered the same.
Two ways round it. Which preset (if any) do you use in Distiller to process the PS file? The red effect only appears when you use certain pre-sets.
I usually solve the problem by opening the PDF in Acrobat 6, not 8, and then printing from that

  • I need a print driver for the HP Color LaserJet 3600 for OS X 10.8.3

You've got a double whammy there. CS2 is not universal so you're running
it under rosetta. Additionally, there are still problems with Leopard
    and CS3.
Keep an eye on the Leopard threads and give serious consideration to
    upgrading.

  • Can't print on Windows 8 with Color Laserjet 1600

I installed DOT4x64.msi on my new HP Windows 8 laptop, since that seems to be the only current way to hook up my Color Laserjet 1600. The printer now shows in the "Devices & Printers" section of the control panel.  But when I try to print something, I get an error message that says I can't print to that printer. I have spent nearly an hour on the phone with HP support with no resolution - in fact, after all this time, was told "this department doesn't support this printer!!!. Any ideas on a solution here? Thanks!

  • Printing by Bonjour to HP Color LaserJet 3550n

I have several Mac users who want to print to the networked CLJ3550n provided by their department. Although the CLJ3550n has a static IP number as do the Mac's, it seems to be accessible only by Bonjour. Once a Bonjour printer for it has been created, it is non-functional. Print jobs can be sent to it, but nothing is printed. Eventually, the printer is stopped. In localhost:631/printers, it appears to be printing to /dev/null. Is there any way around Bonjour? My work environment is one of DHCP for laptops and static IP numbers for everything else, but I have no way to stop people from buying low-functionality printers like this solely on the basis of price when they could have bought a CLJ4700 with minimal resulting support costs.

The IPP printing did not work. When I entered the IP address, I was presented with a choice of drivers. The default postscript driver did not work; The first page of the printout from the test page at localhost:631/printers had the classic stairstep of text with LF's but no CR and then many blank pages. The closest model to the CLJ3550 under the HP printers was the CLJ3700 which seems to be the same mechanically but possibly with postscript. This also gave the the stairstep page.

  • Printing problems (PDF files-HP Color Laserjet 1518ni: return the printer?

Hi everyone, I recently switched platforms and became a Mac user and had to buy a new
printer because my old HP deskjet is not compatible with my computer. So, I bought an HP
Color Laser printer, supposedly Mac compatible, but every time I try to print a PDF file it only
prints the first page. And then stops printing. I spent hours with the HP customer service, reinstalled
the driver, changed configurations, but it still does the same thing. The customer service representative could not solve the problem. I was wondering if there is any one else who had a similar issue with printing? Is it Mac OS X 10.5.5 that causes the problem? I am about to return the laser printer; it would be so helpful if I got some feedback. If it is a printer issue, then, which printer would you folks recommend that is not too expensive but efficient (I use the printer a lot and need an efficient one) and a printing speed of around 12-20ppm that actually does work with the Mac?
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for calling my attention to the Adobe issue. I did try and print a PDF file with Preview and it worked! How was the issue solved with Adobe 7? Maybe Adobe pro7 also similar bug issues; is it to Adobe that I should be reporting this or to Apple?
    Thanks again.
It's definitely an Adobe problem. The only solution I ever saw was either to print from Preview or to use later versions of Adobe Reader 8 or any version of Reader 9. I asked Adobe support what the problem was. I never got a reply.
You should know that Preview (and any other application which reads PDFs using Apple's PDF engine) has a problem with displaying Times Roman Italic, and only Times Roman Italic when launched under OS X 10.5.5. All other fonts appear to work normally; at least I haven't found one which has a problem, including other Times Roman font faces, including Times Roman Bold Italic. Preview seems to print properly, but the on-screen display has problems. The same files display properly with apps which don't use Apple's PDF engine, and also with apps which use Apple's PDF engine under versions of the OS earlier than 10.5.5, going back to at least 9.2.1. Apple is aware of the problem.
There seems to be at least two problems with the main PDF engines for OS X, Apple's and Adobe's.

  • Printing photos with Color Laserjet CM1312. Need proper printing software.

I'm trying to print photos from my Color Laserjet CM1312 multi-function printer.
I used to have a Photosmart inkjet, and tried to use the photo-printing softthat came with that printer, as I really like it. But that must have been designed just for ink-jet printers because the printouts end up way too heavy on ink density, to the point that some of the ink is actually scraped off during the printing.
What software should I be using for the color laserjet?
I don't need editing tools as I have Photoshop ... just printing tools.

    OK here am I again.
as mentioned before I created an bogus printer with:
    lpadmin -p test -v file:/dev/null
    verified the presence of the printer;
    lpstat -p
    $ lpstat -p
    printer Color_LaserJet_cp1515n disabled since Fri 01 Feb 2013 02:55:59 PM BRST -

printer test is idle.  enabled since Fri 01 Feb 2013 02:54:57 PM BRST
At first "test" printer was disabled for an uknown reason.
tried to use lpadmin -p test to enable the printer as described on the previusly mentioned web site, but couldn't get to enable printer "test". After reading alittle more on the internet I found the command cupsenable <printer> and indeed it changed the printer status.
    tried to print;
echo test | lp -d test
    result:
    $ echo test | lp -d test
lp: Destination "test" is not accepting jobs.
I tried to change the condition of the Color laser printer but did not made any difference with the cups command.
Conclusion: how can I modify this status to make the printer accept jobs?

  • Color LaserJet 3800 Printing Issues

I am in the process of upgrading our desktop computers to Windows 7 Pro (x64). In preparation for this we setup a new print server running Windows Server 2008 R2 and created new print queues for each of the printers on our old Windows 2003 server, installed curent drivers for each, and thought that all would be good.
The issue I am seeing is that our users who are printing to an HP Color LaserJet 3800 are getting letter spacing issues where some letters are crushed together and others are too widely spaced (see example above). I can print the same document to an HP Color LaserJet 3600 everything looks correct.
I have verified that the print server has the HP Color LaserJet 3800 driver that comes with Windows Server 2008 R2 and that the other printer is running the HP Color LaserJet 3600 driver. These are both probably the ones available through Windows Update. Finally, we have tested a solution where the Universal Print driver is intalled locally and that seems to work fine. However, I don't want to have drivers individually installed if I can help it.
    Any ideas here?

This seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support.

  • Problem with HP 3600n Color Laserjet Printer and new HP Notebook Running 64 bit Win7

I have a new HP notebook (dv7t-6100) with Core-i7 Processor, running 64 bit Windows 7 with all of the latest updates.
I also have a 27" iMac with Core-i7 Processor running 64 bit Windows 7 underneath Parallels 7. Parallels is a program that creates a virtual machine underneath Mac OSX.
Both versions of 64 bit Windows 7 work perfectly . . . EXCEPT, neither will print from my HP 3600n Color Laserjet. The iMac will print to the 3600n in OSX mode, and an earlier version of 32 bit Windows 7 under Parallels printed perfectly with this 3600n printer.
These facts prove that the printer is OK, the connection is OK. However, the 64 bit Windows 7 systems do not print.
In both of the 64 bit Windows 7 installs I allowed Windows to find and download the HP driver for this printer. Install of the driver was apparently successful. Still no printing.
One strange fact: Sometimes when I turn the computer off, the 3600n printer will print the items that had been in the queue before powering down. That is the only time it has printed anything . . . except under OSX on the iMac.
Does anyone know if there is a basic problem with 64 bit Windows 7 and this printer ?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just had the same problem with my MacBook Pro using 10.5.5 After trying a number of things, the following worked. (not sure what specifically ... just did this combination)
    1. Had the Apple store Genius Bar folks install the latest HP drivers.
    2. Restart computer
    3. Restart the HP Color LaserJet 3600
    4. Connected the HP printer and MacBook Pro directly into a switch, so the wireless was not an issue (both machines had IP addresses set and computer's was set to DHCP with manual IP).
    5. Instead of using the System Preference printing and fax tool, I started Text Edit, typed something and said "print".
Print window came up and said "no printer selected"
    6. I clicked on the drop down so it would look for printers.
    7. It found the HP Color LaserJet 3600.
    8. I clicked on the name of the printer and the computer went out and found the driver
    9. I clicked on "Add" and it added the printer.
    10. I tried a couple of test prints in different programs.
    11. I disconnected the hard wired ethernet cables and set the computer to be on the wireless.
    12. I printed a few more test prints in various programs.
I had previously tried selecting the printer and drivers through the System Preferences to no avail, but doing it this way worked.
    Blessings

Hi there, i am also meeting with the same issues like the cooldown mode printing.

Hi , I found something written by that you may find helpful regarding the printer going into cool down mode: I have provided a document with Resolving Control Panel Messages. Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet.
