Printing both sides

My MacBook Pro won't give me a Print Both Side Option From my Brothrt Printer. The Booklet option in the print window isn't the solution. I upgraded to 10.9.
Ito seems that the 2 sided option is complicating things. Anyone want to simplify? All other applications print 2 sided on computer but PDFs don't.

Hi immisty,
Because of the way printing on both sides work, the second side is printed a bit different that the first side.  There might be some adjustments though.  Which model printer do you have?  Which program are you printing with?  Do you know which driver version you have installed on your computer?

  • Can't print both sides (manually) with Windows 7 but can with XP

My OfficeJet 5510 has "Print Both Sides" as an option on the "Finishing" tab, when I use it from the desktop running XP, which it's connected to with USB. That option doesn't appear anywhere when I try to print from my laptop running Windows 7, over a wireless network. This issue seems to be mentioned in many posts, but never seems to be answered. Is 2-sided printing (manually reinserting the pages) an option with Windows 7, or just with XP?

Hi  - The difference is that with XP, you're using the HP print driver and with Win7, you're using the Microsoft driver, since it doesn't look like HP made a "Full-featured" driver for the OJ5510, since Win7 came out well after the OJ5510 released.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you'll be able to manually print on both sides of the page unless the software app you're printing from offers a feature.  If the app doesn't have an option specifically for manual duplexing, you might be able to specify printing only odd numbered pages, then re-loading those pages and printing the even numbered pages.  Not a great workaround, but at least an option.
    Hope that helps.

  • When I first installed my HP 7510 All in one it would automatically print both sides not now

When I first installed my HP 7510 onto my HP Pavillion Slimline it would print both sides automatically and wait for the ink to dry before taking the paper back in to print the other side. Now if I want both side printing I have to take the paper out manually and reinsert it.. I am running Windows 7

    Hi there,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

How do I get my macbook OS X 10.5.8 to print both sides of paper with HP Officejet 6000 wireless?

If it has that available, when the Print Dialog comes up, click on Copies & Pages, choose Layout, look for 2 sided printing... some Printer Drivers may have it under abother heading.

  • HP LaserJet P1006 won't print both sides (duplex)

I have been using my printer for two years now and haven't had a problem till i needed to print on both sides of the page. It tells me to do all of the steps for it and then at the end it says push the go button or ok and i have no such buttons on my computer that show up or on the printer. There is a cancel button and a power button on the computer.
Does anyone know how to make it work? I have tried reinstalling the drivers for it and still nothing works.
    Thanks,

Yes, I just downloaded the Apple HP update 2.3. The driver that was showing in my Printer Setup Utility was 1.2.0.224. Now I downloaded and installed 2.3 but the Printer Setup Utility only shows 1.2.0.224. 2.3 is not listed in the driver list. Why is that?
2.3 is the version of the update, not the version of the driver.
According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669, 1.2.0.224 is the correct version of the HP driver.
Final question: why do I have problems nobody else does?
People are having a variety of problems. It may be because of permissions, previous versions of the HP software that was installed and not deleted. Since there wasn't support for this printer on Snow Leopard until the 2.2 update, it's hard to guess what the issue was, but you're not alone - read some of threads here.
If you run into this problem again, delete the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/hp folder, delete your printer from Print & Fax, then run Software Update and re-add the printer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing both sides of letter?

I just got a new i mac and iwork. I tried twice to print a letter on both sides, as I always could with Appleworks by just clicking Page One on the print page that came up. This has no such print page, and unless I pull out all the paper but one, it just prints on one side of 2 pieces of paper. Where can I find the option to just print one page at a time?

    +Thanks...that solved this problem.+
    Sue,
Thanks for the feedback. Once you have changed that Print Dialog preference, it should stay that way. The majority of word processing settings will be found in the Inspector, so for most other problems, that's the place to start.
The Pages User Guide, available for download from the Pages Help menu is a good source of information. If you haven't yet read it, it's worth at least a quick scan.

  • Printing both sides of paper

How to I get my HP Laser Jet 200 color printer to print on bothsides of paper.
what is the set up procedures?

    Hi Jim11:
The HP LaserJet 200 does a manual duplex, meaning that you have to print the first side and then reload it into the paper tray manually to print the second side. Here's a link to the post where it has been solved, and encourage you to look at the manual (pages 25-26) that show how to select duplex from the print screen and how to manually put in the paper when printing on the second side.

  • Deskjet 5525 printing random characters, one line per page when printing both sides of page

Hi. I have a deskjet 5525 wireless all in one printer.
I have installed all of the necessary hardware and have updated it. We have two computers running windows 7, 64 bit. I have not been able to update the firmware on the printer because the HP Device Updater program that does it cannot communicate with the printer via usb cable or wireless on two different computers I have tried.
When trying to print two sided documents, it will print ok for about two pages, but then, it will start printing on line per page of random characters, blurred lines of text, gargabe basically.
This is the second printer as the vendor replace the first one with the same problem. You would say, oh a software problem, but I have reinstalled the HP Deskjet 5520 series SW a couple of times, reinstalled the printer, but the problem continues.
An old HP deskjet 3845 worked for us pretty well on the same computers.
    Please help.

    Hi Onemangosta,
I would like to help with the garbled text you are experiencing. I have found a great document for you to use and I can also help you with the firmware update.
Troubleshoot text that might be gibberish, nonsense, or look garbled or scrambled
In order to update the firmware on your printer ensure the printer is on the wireless network and touch the Web Services icon (this icon is the 1st of the 4 that run across the top of the front panel - looks like 2 little cell phones). Scroll through the Web Services menu, find and select Product Updates, select Check for Product Updates.
If the printer is already up to date the front panel will say so, if it is not, the download and install will begin. It is possible you were unable to do the update form the computer because the printer does not need an update. The HP Device Updater will only see a printer that requires the update.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Dinesh_G,
Sorry for the delayed response.  Try adding an alternate driver.  Here is a link that will provide steps for that.  Click Here  Check which PCL driver you are currently using and add the alternate (PCL5/PCL6).  Please see the below for additional clarification.
Utilize the above link for exact steps on adding the driver.
    1. Check which driver currently used-PCL5 or PCL6-this will be located near name of driver in print folder or print properties
    2. Follow steps provided in link to add whichever one the currently installed driver is using
         A.  Select HP as manufactuer
         B.  Select HP universal printing PCL 6 or HP universal printing PCL 5
    3. Attempt duplex print job

  • Printing scripi on both side  of paper

    Hi All,
I want to print script on both side of paper.
    my observations.
the output device they are using it prints report on both side of paper.
in script , processing mode selected D  and i am printing dunning letters.
in main program used NEW-PAGE. that should not make any difference.
let me know from script side what i have to do and also from my device type what else i have to check.
    urgent
    Regards

    hi,
We can print both sides of the paper
<b>You switch to duplex or tumble duplex mode with a form page for which one of these modes is specified. To continue printing in the current mode, for follow-on pages you must define another page in which the Print mode field is empty. Otherwise, the following pages after the mode switch will continue to be printed only on the front sides of new sheets of paper.
The reason: When SAPscript sends a page with Print mode D or T to the printer, it not only sets the print mode accordingly. To ensure that the first page in the new mode is correctly output, SAPscript also instructs the printer to output the page on the front side of a sheet. If SAPscript sends a sequence of D or T pages to the printer, the output is printed only on the front side of each sheet.
You define a first page named FIRST for a form to be printed in duplex mode. You therefore set the Print mode in FIRST to D.
To make the duplex printing work correctly, you must define a second page FOLLOWER in which Print mode is left empty. In the form definition, you specify FOLLOWER as the follow-on page for FIRST and for itself as well.
Your text is then printed in duplex mode. FIRST switches the printer to duplex mode and forces printing of the first page on the front side of a new sheet. FOLLOWER accepts the duplex mode and sends no further mode print controls to the printer. The printer therefore alternately prints FOLLOWER pages on the fronts and backs of sheets.</b>
The print controls that must be defined for a device type depend upon the SAPscript printer driver that is to be used with the device type.
    set the followint print control.
    <b>SPMDU</b>
Begin duplex printing (both sides of paper). (Needed only if supported by device.)

  • Can the B210 Print on both sides?

I have an Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - B210a running on Windows Vista on an Compaq laptop.
I know it is not a duplex printer.
But my old HP 940C allows me to select a "Print on both sides" button on the printer properties advanced page.
Does the B210a support the same function?

    Hi,
Based on this, NO, it can not print both sides automatically.
