Printing briefing book from reader as a PDF

Hi all,
In 10g, is there a way when viewing a briefing book through the briefing book reader, to print as a PDF? Similar in concept to when you're in Answers, open a briefing book, and clicking on the 'Print Now' button.
Thanks.

Thanks, Nico.
I tried that route already. The user would have to print each page one by one. There's 15-20 pages. If all pages can't be saved at once, the user will have to go to Answers to open the briefing book and click the 'Print Now' button. Then they have all pages in one document via one click of a button. Originally, the user didn't want to be bothered with remembering to go into Answers (they don't use Answers much and this metric package is run once a month) so I was going to do this with ibots and send the briefing book reader via email.
Thanks again.

  • How do I print a book from book creator on the ipad?

I have created a book on the ipad using book creator.  I do not have an apple computer, I have only got the ipad.  I cannot email the book as it has too much memory.  I have exported it to itunes as pdf.  Can I get it printed in the apple store from pdf in itunes?

Once you've exported the book to iTunes as a PDF, connect your iPad to your PC/Mac and open iTunes.
In iTunes, click on your iPad from the top toolbar and go to Apps.
Scroll down to the section which says File Sharing, and click on Book Creator. You'll now see a list of Book Creator documents which should include the PDF you exported.
If you right-click on the PDF you can save it to your desktop, ready to send to a printing service.

  • Not printing acrobat files from Reader 9.4/Win 7 64 bit

I have just had to get replacement PC with Win7 64 bit and have loaded Acrobat Reader 9.4.(Prior to demise of old PC Win XP SP3 and Reader 9.x)  I have an HP Deskjet 960c printer connected through a NAS as a network printer.
I have problems printing acrobat files  PDFs (which used to print on old PC) to that configuration. I open document (displays fine), select print, press OK. Goes through spooling doc - 100%.; Then nothing happens - nothing shows on doc list on printer - JUST GETS LOST IN THE ETHER.
Same file prints on printer if direct USB connected.
Word/Excel files print both through NAS as server and on direct usb connect.
Still printes from another XP machine fine.
    Tried XP compatibility no change
ONLY does not seem to work on printing PDFs via NAS Print Server.

Ok, I have now gotten Reader 10 installed, can open files from my desktop but IE 9 keeps crashing when I try to open PDF files even though I exited and relaunched IE 9.  I did take ownership of all the folders containing Reader 10 and then clicked OK when I got the error notice about the shortcut being installed. • After I upgraded to Firefox 4 on Windows XP, I was no longer able to print anything directly from a website except PDF files. I can print documents from any installed program on my hard drive. My printer is an HP LaserJet 1220

I edited my original question above to provide all the info that I can think of. It is very frustrating to no longer be able to directly print from a website except for PDF files. I can do a work around by copying a web page to Microsoft Word and then printing it but I don't understand why I lost a basic function. David Pollock

    Use Preview .app
Open the first jpeg in Preview and:
+Menu > Tools > cmd A (select all) > Adjust Size > Click on Padlock to unlock > Measure: Pixels > Fit into: Custom > Uncheck Scale proportionally > Check Resample Image > enter 3x height and keep resolution the same+
You should now have an 3 times as high but distorted.
Paste the 1st image back into file and slide it to the top.

  • Can't Print Book from iPhoto or Preview, but Can Print from Adobe Accrobat

I have spent 2.5 hours on the phone with HP, an am now unsure if the problem is with HP or Apple.
When I try to print a single page from an iPhoto Book (or a group of pages), I receive an error message on the HP 4650 printer (49.4C02). I saved the book as a PDF and tried to print from Preview with the same results. I then opened the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat and WAS able to print. I am able to print individual photos from iPhoto.
I searched this discussion board for problems printing to the HP 4650. One suggestion was to use the driver for the HP 4600. I tired that and it produced the same error on the printer.
Using Adobe Acrobat is a viable work-a-round, but I am curious why I cannot print a book from iPhoto. Any thoughts as to why Adobe Acrobat works and iPhoto and Preview do not?
    Thanks,
    -Dale

HP has _ a firmware release that addresses this error _ - have you installed it?

  • Briefing Book Title shows the name of the Analysis along with Report Name

    Hi,
When I add a report to the briefing books, The title of the PDF document shows the report name and below that it also shows the name of the analysis. Normally we save our analysis with some standard naming conventions having some special characters. Client does not need that name in the PDF.
How can I stop the Analysis Name to appear on the briefing book?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Gaurav A.

That's a great question, and it seems like something that should be standard with iCal.
The only thing I could think of would be to add the patient as an invitee, but that still wouldn't solve the problem of having their name be the title of the appointment. But the auto-complete function is there.
The other option (which is more convoluded) would be to use Filemaker Pro. It is extremely powerful and customizable and there are plenty of people out there who know how to develop for it. This option would be more expensive, but it could also be custom-tailored to your needs.
Those aren't great answers so I'm interested to see what others say. I'd like to implement it into my own iCal app.

  • Automatic generation of PDF file from briefing book in OBIEE11g

    Hi all,
Could anyone tell me if exist a way to generate PDF files from briefing books automatically in OBIEE11g?
    Thanks

I only got so far when I tried to do this in Windows. The problem comes when you try to tell the printer to print to a file with a particular name.
The first steps are to get GhostWriter for Windows.
Then you install the Apple LaserWriter pro 600 driver which can print to a postscript file (try it manually first). GhostWriter can then, with a command line command, using a java Process, convert that to a .pdf file.

downloaded acrobat reader 11 onto my Mac Book Pro, it can open the file but will not print. Get a message that says PDF cannot be printed, however, I forwarded it to someone else and they could print it, no problem. I called HP and spent an 1hour with them and then called Apple support and worked with them for 3 hours. No one can figure it out. Is there something wrong with this version? the pdf was created in 2004. Do I have to pay to get Acrobat?

Let me give you a slightly different perspective than everyone else here.  You are using an unsecured wireless network, which means that all your network traffic is easily available for viewing by anyone else using that network.  That's bad.  Very bad, for you, unless you absolutely trust everyone who lives within range of this network.  So stop doing it.
As to the Mac not connecting, wireless networking is simply too complex for any reasonable answer without more information.  There are many possible error points, and as often as not it's the Mac that can connect and the Windows PC that cannot.  Since you can't give us any information about the configuration of the neighbor's network, and can't make any changes to it, we can't do much to help you troubleshoot it.

  • When printing a book to PDF, bookmark definitions are not saved

I recall seeing another post about this issue and I can't find it now, but none of the workarounds mentioned there worked for me, so here goes:
I am working on a book migrated from FM 9 to FM 11, and when I print to PDF, I specify the bookmarks I want to display in the Bookmarks tab of the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog. The PDF prints fine, but when I want to print the book again, FM doesn't remember my settings, forcing me to set the bookmarks from scratch every time. This has proven pretty tedious seeing that I'm working with an old book in which the styles aren't intiutive, so trying to remember all of them every time isn't the best of fun. When I print a single file in the book, the settings are saved properly.
In the previous post, I remember reading that this was a bug in FM and trying the following suggested workarounds (none of which worked): Switching to structured mode; saving the desired setting in one file in the book, printing that document, and then printing the book (was supposed to result in FM remembering the settings for the entire book); saving the book right after it prints; selecting all files in the book and saving as PDF, as opposed to selecting the book and then File > Save as PDF.
I'd be glad to know if anyone has any ideas, or if Adobe are planning to post a fix for this issue.

It is my understanding that FrameMaker uses the setting stored in the first document of the book when creating a PDF from a book. So, open the first file in the book and make a PDF, setting your bookmarks as you want for the whole book. Then create the PDF of the book. Check the settings before you click Print to make sure they are what you want. You may have to make a few changes, but it should remember them the next time.
I work with FM 9, so this may not be relevant to FM11. I find it necessary to open the PDF settings dialog each time I make a PDF of a book, and click Save/OK/whatever, to make sure the bookmarks are created correctly. The settings are always correct, no changes needed; but I find it necessary to open the dialog and close it to get the bookmarks correctly indented in resulting PDF. It may have been fixed in FM11.

  • Get extra bookmarks when saving a book from FM10 to PDF

I'm doing a couple of documents (books) in FrameMaker 10 that are to be saved as PDF. When doing the PDF Setup and the Bookmarks tab, I have Generate PDF Bookmarks checked and then include paragraphs such as Chapter Title, Heading 1, Heading 2, etc., with the appropriate bookmark levels set.
The process seems to go okay except, I get a bunch of extra bookmarks, all pointing to my Table of Contents.
What's happening is, those headings are also used in generating the TOC, so in the contents, I have paragraphs tagged Chapter Title TOC, Heading 1 TOC, Heading 2 TOC, and so forth. The Acrobat Distiller (I presume) is picking up all of those TOC headings and making bookmarks to them. It's not a terrible event, just a bit of a nuisance.
Interestingly, the TOC-tagged paragraphs don't show up in the Include or Don't Include lists.
It would be a simple enough matter to open the pdf file in Acrobat and delete those extra bookmarks. But we don't have the full version of Acrobat here and are using the add-on with FrameMaker. Can't delete the bookmarks in Acrobat Reader.
    Any ideas?

I always use structured FrameMaker. So, I restarted it into UNstructured FrameMaker. You are correct. There is no drop-down for Elements and Paragraphs, because in an unstructured document, there are no elements...duh.
I found that if I open the TOC file, then do a PDF setup just for that file, I find the headings in the Include column and move them to the Do Not Include column.
This indicates that the TOC paragraph tags are in only the TOC file, possibly others.
Like PDF settings in general, I am guessing that when you print a book, FrameMaker gathers information for the Include/Excludes lists from the first file in the book. In my books, all the files in the book use the same template. So, the TOC tags are in all the files of the book, not just the TOC file.
So, you can try opening the TOC file and the book file. Select all the files in the book file and import the paragraph formats from the TOC file into the selected files in the book. Now when you print from the book, the first file in the book contains all the required paragraph tags, which you can move from one list to the other. My guess is that they will appear in the Include list, because that is the FrameMaker default.
I have also found that the book file may not remember your settings the next time you try to print it. So, I open the first file in the book and print it to PDF with all the bookmark settings, etc, I want. Save and close it. When you print the book, the settings are most likely to appear when you open the PDF settings.
    Hope this will help,
    Van
