Printing causes all programmes to crash

Hello,
I'm using a MacBook Pro, with Mountain Lion. Following a software update, today, whenever I try to print to my HP P3015 printer, all programees (e.g. Word, Safari, Acrobat) freeze then crash.
However, if I click on the print icon in Word, it prints, but does not go to the print menu. I need to be able to print from the other programmes though, so please could someone help?

The Crashlog is:

  • Printing since updates causes all apps to crash

Since the last round of updates from Apple, including the EFi firmware update, I am unable to print at all.
I have two printers, neither of which will print, I dont even get the print box come up before the applications "Unexpectedly quit".
I am using an Epson R1800 printer and a HP Laserjet 1018, the latter of which I know doesn't work with OSX natively but using a 3rd party driver always has.
I have tried running the Disk Utility to repair permissions, and also run the reset printer option, followed by a reboot and then added the printers again. Still no joy. I have also tried these steps but only added one printer at a time and still the apps crash.
    Has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Paul

Try downloading the 10.4.10 Combination Updater from Apple and re-update.

  • Printing causes ALL apps to give "Not Responding " error

After installing the recent round of Apple software updates ( iweb, pages, numbers, iphoto, etc) anytime I try to print from any application it causes the app to go into not responding mode..... the print diolog box never appears. If I force quit the app, restart it and then print everything is fine.... for awhile... then it starts all over again for each app.... any ideas?

Your probably have a permissions problem. Open Disk Utility and run Repair Disk Permissions.
If that doesn't help, open the Printer Setup Utility, click on the application menu and select Reset Printing System. Close Disk Utility and add your printer again. Note that you may have to run your driver installer again.

  • Selecting 'Print' causes ALL applications to quit

Ever since my G5 iMac died on Xmas day (it then went to my nearest AASP for surgery under extended repair programme - not back yet.....)nothing but problems with airport extreme.
Made the mistake of allowing my Brother in laws ASUS notebook use my NTL ( I am in UK BTW) cable modem via ethernet cable while he was staying with us. (he could detect the AE basestation, but no amount of typing in the password would allow him to connect)
Ever since then, have had problems with maintaining contact with Airport, somedays good, somedays needed to use ethernet cable and just cut out AE, anyways, have since been unable to connect to HP 6540 printer (connected to AE via USB port) wirelessly, and have had to connect to laptop port on front of printer via USB port on back of Powerbook G4 (this one, having to stand in for iMac - still awake at this point?), have reinstalled HP drivers from CD provided with printer/downloaded fom HP.com, it then asked me to connect to a printer, and pointed me to the HP on the network, I hit OK, and it even printed off a test page in colour - luvverly I thought.
Now though whatever application I wish to print from, Mail, Firefox, IE5.2, MS WORD, Appleworks etc, they ALL just quit.
anybody got any ideas what the heck I have done wrong here?
In print set-up it allows me to select the network HP6500, or the 'local' one I ahve tried to set the network one as default printer but no joy, all Apps quit.
Beginning to think wireless is just not worth the hassle.
The PB G4 is running 10.2.8 and running at 667 Mhz, signal strength is about 4-5 bars.
The AE base station is only 6 months old, and worked pretty well until I had to remove the Imac from it as detailed, and went back to ethernet cable to modem.
The 'ethernet cable is connected to the WAN port, the only way to get it to communicate with the outside world it seems...........

  • 4.2.7 upgrade causing all apps to crash as well.  Anyone else?

Just upgraded to 4.2.7.  All apps purchased or free crash upon launch.

When I signed on to Itunes on my computer to synchronize my IPhone Apps a message came up asking me to "Authorize this computer or all apps will be deleted" or something to that effect.  I authorized by entering my MacBookPro (MBP) password.  Once I did that all apps sync'd and all IPhone apps then worked.  It only took a few minutes.
Originally when I tried to sync it came up with a message saying it could not sync the paid apps and I might lose them if I tried.  Apparently this was because the MacBook was not authorized (and therefore legal) to sync.
I don't know why the ugrade screwed up all the apps but syncing through ITunes restored them.
I'm not a newbie to Macs but I am to ITunes, IPhones and MacBookPros so I am learning as I go.
I discovered all this with a little trial and error.  Hope it works for you.

  • Printing causes Office 2013 applications to crash

We’ve a fresh installed Windows 8 Pro and Office 2013. Printing works correctly in every application but Office 2013.
Word, Excel, Outlook … printing causes the application to crash.
Any idea if this is a known issue?
    Regards.
    Peter
Peter Van Keymeulen, IT Infrastructure Solution Architect, www.edeconsulting.be

This is the answer that fixes the problem every time, based on my experience and that of others. It works for both the 32 & 64-bit versions of Windows (I'm one of those odd ducks who runs 32-bit Windows 8.1 Professional and it worked perfectly for me).
The problem is not Windows, either 7 or 8, it's Office 2013 and a variety of unique HP LaserJet printers.  By the way, the glitch occurs whether you use networked printing or a USB cable; I discovered that early-on when I
was trying to troubleshoot the issue.  Also (and it should go without saying), always reboot the computer after you make the change to the driver.  Thanks to Shane, who apparently was the first one to discover the solution over a year ago, right
after Office 2013 came out and the problem manifested itself.
After lots of testing I have found a setting that has fixed all my HP CP5520 and HP M4555 printers that were crashing when printing from Office 365's 2013 pro plus.
It's the driver setting in Device settings -> Installable options -> Printer Status notification, this needs to be disabled.
I hope this also fixes other peoples problems.

  • Printing causes Application Crashes

    Hi,
I have a Macbook that I hook up to my Lexmark 5300 series printer via USB to print. The problem is that when I print (PDF or Document) it causes my application to crash. It does not even bring up the print option dialogue box. This includes Adobe Reader (Professional and Version 9), Preview, any Office program. I thought it might be the default PDF printer, so I deleted that. The only printer in the queue is the Lexmark. Is there anything else I should try?
I am able to print from InDesign oddly enough, but it isn't a PDF it's a .indd format.
    Thank you!

    Updated drivers are a wonder.

  • I can't print on all printer in my network, no programme does print!

I have problems to print on my other Power Mac G4 with Panther 10.3.9 on all programms. In every programme comes the failure "Failed to print". But if a make a Postscript file with de PPD of the printer i can drag it on de printer utility and then on the printer symbol an it does print it. But when i want to print directly from the application i can't get it out. What can it be? I've made an Archiv installed and then it works for 2 days an today morning it begins to fail again. So please your Apple freaks all over the world help me because we've had to produce some stuff for tomorrow morning!

  • Printing causes macpro to crash/restart

    printing causes macpro to crash/restart

OK, I understand borderless printing is not supported on plain paper, but I don't think a hard crash is an acceptable result.
I can live with the minimize margins turned on but that opens up another documented bug where the last line to line and a half are not printed on the last sheet in a print set, If you are only printing one sheet at a time than every sheet will be missing this print. Has HP come up with or even looked into why this is happening?
    Thanks,

  • Network printing causes application crash

I have a iMac G5 with a HP Deskjet 3930 printer hanging off of it. It's networked with my MacBook Pro via a 802.11b Linksys router. Whenever I attempt to print off of my Macbook Pro, there's a 50% chance that whichever application I'm running will immediately crash. The other 50% of the time, it will spend several seconds thinking, then reluctantly allows me to print. I've seen Safari, Pages, TextEdit, Preview, and TextWrangler all crash this way. There's never an issue with my iMac printing.
This is a really strange issue that really bugs me. It may have something to do with Bonjour or my router but I can't really tell. I always have full signal strength on my network but routinely see the DHCP error that seems to have started with 10.4.7 (both the iMac and the Macbook Pro are running 10.4.7). Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!!
MacBook Pro, iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I am experiencing continuous problems with printing to a WINDOWS networked printer (HP color lasarjet 5550). All MAC apps crash instantly, including those in OFFICE for MAC, even though I can install and see the printer. I have pinged te printer, and even printed a test page from the FIREFOX window that opened after PRINTER SETUP UTILITY/UTILITIES.
I cannot access the network thru FINDER. Yet, in PARALLELS, I can access files on the network and print successfully from all windows apps.
I tried the solution that Pere Phil described. The only difference is I am trying to print thru BUILT IN ETHERNET using IP address. When I tried a test print from FIREFOX (I WAS ON THIS PAGE), it crashed.
    Can anyone help?
P.S. I am a newbie to MAC and my workplace is remote and I don't have access to phone support except thru a satellite phone (i.e. excessively expensive). A direct email to me with solutions that have worked will be most appreciated. If this continues I will soon be an ex-Mac newbie.

    Hi,
The log message here told this is caused by igdumd64.dll , which is a component of the Intel graphics driver:

  • HP C4680--Won't print, causes OS to crash

Hi, all. I have a week-and-a-half old HP C4680 printer. I have been almost totally unable to use it for printing at all, since every time I attempt to print OS X 10.5.8 freezes up about two pages in, the printer stops, and I get a "need to restart your computer" message. This happens when trying to print from Word or Preview (I haven't tried printing from any other programs yet). I have been able to use the machine to scan without incident, though. I have updated all of the drivers, checked for any OS X updates, etc. Wondering if this is a known issue for anyone or if there are any suggestions to help me get this working before I give up and take the thing back! Thanks!

    Hi zmogy,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to print on the 10.9.
I will be happy to help you.
The HPPrinterDriver2.16.1 is the latest HP printing and scanning software for OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard.
Plug the printer directly into the 10.9 computer and run the Apple Updates to install the Apple drivers.
OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac.
    Test the printing.
I can't guarantee it will print over the server.
    Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
    Have a nice day!

  • My iPod is Causing my PC to crash when I plug the iPod Touch in.

I've plugged my iPod Touch into my laptop (USB) port and it immediately caused my laptop to crash.
I allowed the PC to reboot and tried again in a different port with the same results.
Any suggestions as what may be the problem.
Never had a hint before that this might happen.
The iPod is only 2 months old.
    Thanks.

Thanks again for your interest in my problem AndrewT.
    Ok you mentioned three things:
    1. Uninstalling the ACER camera.
    2. latest version of iTunes and
    3. Printer.
Regarding the uninstalling the camera - I haven't done that but worth a try. When I initially plug the iPod in it comes up as a camera (not as an iPod as it should do). I don't use the camera a lot so maybe thats the way to try and see what happens.
Regarding the latest version of iTunes - yes I've got that no problem and regarding the printer - seldom used and hasn't been used since well before this problem came about.
I'm getting more convinced that its a Microsoft Update that's causing it. I read somewhere about this but can't remember where now.
I had to again reload all the software because of other problems i.e. back to original recovery, so while loading the new software I tried the iPod touch and yes it worked. However, with all reloading of sofware there was the usual updating and after loading a number of these updates together I tried again and as expected the blue screen again.
Needless to say I'm rather frustrated at this outcome but won't give up as yet.
Thanks for your continued interest. Maybe between us we'll get it solved. It doesn't appear that others have this problem and Apple Support have never heard of it.
