Printing CD artwork

When I print the artwork for cd cover, my entire music library is listed as songs for the album.  It does it with every album.  How do I correct this?

Whoops, was making a stupid mistake. Problem is solved, could a moderator please delete? Thanks.

  • Unable to print album artwork, though it is in iTunes

    Hello,
    I have iTunes 8.0.2.
I purchased an album from the iTunes store, removing it immediately from the 'Purchased' list for reasons I won't bore you with. I burned a CD and then went to print the artwork, to find that it came up blank in the preview. I checked in the 'Music' list, in artwork display mode, and the album is, indeed, there, with the correct listing and graphics. However, perhaps due to my having disrupted the cohesion of the album in some other way, whilst all others display 'Play album' when hovered over, this one shows up 'Play Selected'.
Can anyone tell me what I've done and how to correct it?
    Many thanks,
    Alpha

CDs don't contain artwork so you wouldn't find any connected with the files that were burned. When you download music from the iTunes Store a proprietary format artwork file for the tracks you download is placed into the Album Artwork folder inside your iTunes folder. That's why you can see artwork against the original file(s) in iTunes and not against the files on the CD. You should be able to print a CD insert for the album using the tracks in iTunes. Highlight the album tracks and go to Edit>Print>CD Jewel Case Insert, choose the style of insert you want from the Theme menu.

  • Best File Type for Printing Ai Artwork

    Hi all,
I have been designing in illustrator for a while, but am fairly new to designing media for print.  I am uploading a poster-size graphic to a web site that only accepts .jpeg and .png.  The graphic will be used on the web and will also be printed.  I know .png is preferable as it is not a lossy format and works better with vector art, but .png does not support CMYK color space for printing.  In a situation where I can only choose betweent the two, should I choose .jpeg over .png for better printing, despite the lossy format?
    Thanks for your help!

I have to disagree. Only some digital printers prefer RGB files. Most want to get CMYK files. If you have text in clean black dreated a workflow with RGB involved will transform any clean black in clored 4c-black which has to be avoided.
That's said it will exclude also PNG files. PNG  does not support CMYK and neither color management. So the printed outcome will not predictable.
And if you send an Illustrator file for print use only PDF.
AI would be fine, if the printer in not openen the file in Illustrator but only in Acrobat. If you have used fonts which are not available on the printers side or if you have linked files included into you AI file, opening an AI file will destroy that file. But if someone is using only a PDF or the PDF part of the AI file it is ok.
EPS does not support transparency nor does it support color management. So it is to avoid also.
JPG, PNG, TIFF and others are rasterizing the artwork and text by the image's resolution contrary to vector artwoork which will be rasterized on the devizes' resolution. This ends in a raggy edge of the vectors you really won't want.

  • Can't print album artwork

When I make a playlist, highlight a song and attempt to print a single cover, I do not get the album artwork to print. All I get is a monochromatic colored cover with the playlist text. Why is this?

Hello, I am also frustrated with this inability to print covers from ITunes. However, I stumbled upon a website which may hold the solution. I sent the following message to maximized.com. If more people sent email, maybe there is a solutin at hand. They may be the ones who created the ability to print from ITunes:

    HELLO,
I assuming that your iCoverArt: Introduction to our iTunes Utility, has some relationship with printing jewel covers, etc. from ITunes. I have attached a copy of a cover that I tried to print. You will see a black box where the artwork should appear. Additionally, you will see that the background image does not print on the other side where the tracks are listed. There are several posts on the Internet from othere people experiencing this issue. Apple is not responding to problem requests from users.
Are you aware of this problem? do you have a solution?

  • Unable to print album artwork

After burning a CD i'm unable to print the album artwork off. it says it's sending to printer but printer just feeds a blank sheet of paper straight through. Please help.

  • Printer shifts artwork off centre

I have a PDF created from PS CS6 which is a Letterhead layout. The design has two lines (strokes) that run down the left side of the page. ( see image below )
Consequently I am wanting to print this to an 'HP Photosmart 7520' with borderless printing.
Unfortunately the result always appears to shift the artwork to the right subsequently the graphic strokes are shifted away from the left edge. ( see image below )
I have checked all the printer and acrobat settings and have tried printing;  'actual size' and 'fit' options but have no success. I have tried printing direct from PS but it is the same. I wonder if it could be a driver issue.
Any help on this would be much appreciated

its temporary fix/workaround, but have you thought of creating a custom paper size and tricking it into printing correctly?
or rotating the saved image upside down in reference then having a wide blue border that essentially gets cut off?

  • Why can't I print available artwork on CD inserts anymore?

I used to be able to print a mosaic of available artwork on CD covers.  Now, selecting the mosaic option only produces a block of solid black. All recommended updates, etc. installed.  No other probs with printer, etc.
Appreciate any help / answers. Thanks

Turns out it would only work if the tunes were imported from a CD, not from another source. Then I upgraded to iTunes 8 and it seems to work fine.

  • What's the correct way of preparing artwork for print in Illustrator?

I want to print an illustration on 8.5in. x 11in. paper. Whenever I print, the artwork always fills the whole page and all of the artwork doesn't show. So I created a new document and these are the settings. Are they correct? Thanks in advance.

Your new document setting are correct, CMYK & 8.5 x 11.
Unless you have borderless printer you cannot print to the edge of the paper. This keep from toner getting into the printer and one side is usually the shortest so the gripper can grab the paper. Usually this is only about 1/8" around and one side about 1/4".
If this does not help, can you please provide a measurement of how much is missing and describe where it si your are determining all of the artwork does ton show, is this in the print window or other.

  • Why do my pattern swatch colours print differently to rest of my artwork

I have some 2 coluor artwork consisting of 2 x pantone colours purple and grey.
Within the artwork is a stripe pattern swatch consisting of the same colours. On screen the colours are fine and I've checked all the colour settings and these are fine too.
Why however when i print the artwork does the pattern print in a different colour???
Please help as I'm going out of my mind with this one.!
    Anthony

I am having exactly the same problem.
The colours of a pattern fill print very differently when it is expanded.
All the colours in the pattern swatch are CMYK. They look identical on screen when the pattern fill is expanded.
When printed, the mustard yellow, the appley-lime green, and the purpley-grey look completely different.
I'm using CS6 Illustrator, FOGRA39. I'm wondering if this is a printer issue maybe?
This is really frustrating and very worrying as I use pattern swatches a lot, and colours need to stay the same as they are approved.
I've found this thread and another one from 2010 with what sounds like the same issue (Pattern Swatch Colours) but neither have been resolved.
Please help if you have any ideas!

  • Why does my artwork print slightly larger than actual size? - MacOS 10.9.2

I have an issue which I have no answer.  Every time I print an artwork for product mockup, say a 3x5 card, it prints slightly larger than a 3x5 card.  I have to manually scale my artwork down to 98.5 in the print dialog to get as close as possible to the actual size.  Its not related to a specific printer.  I have an HP printer and a Canon printer and the issue exists exactly the same between the two.  I'm running Illustrator 17.1 on an iMac running MacOS 10.9.2.  Can you please help make this easier for me?

    Wayne,
Are you using PostScript printer drivers (or at least PostScript emulation)? Non PostScript drivers may behave a bit like gremlins.
What happens if you Save As or Print to PDF and then print from that using the actual size/no adaptation to paper size?

  • MG5420 Is There a Way to Sharpen Print-on-Disc Artwork?

    Hello,
BOTTOM LINE: Can I change the Print Quality setting when printing my artwork on a printable disc?
I recently changed from an Epson R220 printer to a Canon MG5420. Both allow direct printing onto printable CD and DVD discs. I changed printers because of Epson's tendency for the ink nozzles to dry out, making the printer unusable. Three R220s have died on me that way, in spite of my trying several solvents to flush them out.
I create the artwork (photos, drawings, text) in Photoshop, save it as a .jpg, and import it into Canon's Disc Label Print software.
I've noticed that the disc printing I got from the Epson printer was significantly sharper than that I am getting from the Canon printer. I see that in the Canon program you can make facial adjustments (sharpness, etc.). Is there a way also to improve the overall resolution of the printed images? As is, the resulting printing is acceptable, but I know from my experience with Epsons that it could be better.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Since starting this thread, I've done more exploring and found a partial answer. Don't know if it's the best, but it helps.
    The steps are:
After the artwork is on the template and before printing,
    Right-click on the image.
On the drop-down menu, select Correct/Enhance.
    Click on the Manual tab.
Increase the sharpness on the Sharpness scale. (I tried 10, and it seemed to work well to sharpen the text.)
It's still not up to the level of the Epson printer I had, but the text is less jagged. Of course, too much sharpness can make other parts of an image--such as people's faces--seem less realistic.
Next time, I might try a mid-range sharpness to see if that is a good balance.

  • Unable to transfer album artwork to printer

Since upgrading to Leopard I have been unable to print album artwork. When I hit Print the artwork does not transfer to printer. This only applies to iTunes. All other applications o.k.

    Erica,
It sounds like you may not realize that for CD's you add to iTunes yourself, you have to add the artwork yourself as well.
One way to do this is to find the album cover at a web site such as amazon.com. Save the artwork on your computer, a new folder called
    i Album covers
might be helpful for this purpose.
Now it's time to get the artwork into iTunes. Select
    b Library
    in the
    i Source List
    and click on the
    b Browse
icon in the top right corner of iTunes.
Now select the CD in the Browse pane and press the
    b Ctrl
    and
    b I
    keys at the sqame time.
After confirming that you want to edit information for multiple items, you will be taken to the
    i Multiple Song Information
    window. Double-click the large
    b Artwork
box and then navigate to the image you downloaded from amazon.com and confirm that's the image you want.
You will now be able to view the artwork in iTunes by selecting Edit menu > Show Artwork and it should be on your iPod the next time you synch with iTunes.
I hope this is the answer to your problem. If not, post back.
