Printing 'checked calendars' in iCal

I have 25+ calendars in iCal and always found the following functionality useful (which is described in iCal 2.0 Help online):
+By default, the calendars that are currently selected in the main iCal window will be printed. Selecting or deselecting calendars here does not affect what's checked in the main calendar view, it only affects what is printed.+
I didn't realize just how useful this feature was until I upgraded to 3.0 and it stopped working this way. Now whenever I go to print a calendar, ALL calendars are checked to be printed as the default and I have to uncheck the ones I don't want one by one (or by group).. even more annoying because the window they give you to do this in the Print dialogue box is tiny not resizable.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any help on how I can get iCal to work properly? I checked iCal help within the application and it says the default is the same as I listed above from 2.0. Your feedback and help is much appreciated!

I'm adding a "me too" too. This is making me crazy. I have about 10 calendars that I have to uncheck to print one calendar every day!

  • How do I print monthly calendars in iCal 5 with location?

    Hello,
Our office uses iCal to manage our schedule. I cannot get a monthly printout from iCal that displays location information i.e. information entered as location on iCal. Previously on our windows machines we had to use Outlook Calendar Assistant for this (which I still can't understand because this seems to be a very trivial problem, at least to me). The printouts are demanded by some older employees that absolutely need paper versions.
Can I export an iCal file to another program to print my calendar the way I need it? Can I do it from iCal directly? Outlook 2011 isn't an option at the moment because it does not sync with Google Calendars yet. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    With pleasure!
Great to know it worked for you

  • Printing blank calendars in iCal

How do I print out a range of BLANK calendar months (eg, October to December) that I can then fill in manually?

I'm glad you figured it out because I don't think I would have.
I think your request (ie printing blank calendars) is unique enough as to not be found in any help or tutorials but I think after reviewing some info and playing around w/ iCal you'd discover the answer yourself. You might want to look here for a nice overview: http://www.apple.com/support/ical/ and especially the link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/work/10/ as well as iCal's Help menu.

  • Can I print small calendars in iCal or from some other program?

I have a calendar in iCal that is used to keep track of my girlfriend's class and work schedule (which is wildly different from day to day). I would love to have this calendar on my iPhone but it must be in a different color like it is in iCal so that I can differentiate her schedule from my own easily. I thought a nice solution might be to simply print a small business card sized week view of her schedule and keep it in my wallet, however I can't seem to get ical to print a week view on anything smaller than an 8x10 sheet of paper.
It would be a great help to me if you could show me how to either sync to my iphone in a different color or print a small portable "cheat sheet" that I can carry with me...
By the way Apple, if you're reading this, how come we can't keep calendars that are separate in iCal separate in iPhone? Unless I am just being a dunce on this one, you should consider making this possible on the iPhone.

Ok it is a long one but it is possible to resize it without any external programs.
Only one calendar is synced to iPhone (ie one colour)
    To print your calendar small:
    Choose File/Print
Select everything you want on the calendar, don't worry about sizes yet and click Continue
In the print window, choose Paper Handling and select Scale to fit paper size
Choose the size you would like (business card?)
You can either print or Save to PDF

  • ICal: Effects of Inability to Uncheck Checked Calendars

We had several issues in iCal:
    1. Restoring an iCal backup file using File>Restore iCal would result in a hang; the candycane progress bar in the "Restoring iCal. . ." dialog box would move, but the restore would never end. This forced us to either force-quit iCal or kill the iCal process in the Activity Monitor.
    2. We could not refresh the Mobile Me calendar with our iCal file. In other words, we could not replace the Mobile Me calendar data with the data from our iCal file.
What we learned tonight in half an hour on the phone with one of Applecare's crack product specialists was that +calendars that users can not uncheck are corrupt, and will break iCal/Mobile Me processes+ like these.
Every calendar in iCal has a checkbox next to the calendar's name in the left column. Checking the box displays the events associated with that calendar; unchecking the box hides the calendar's events. If the checkbox setting on +any one calendar+ cannot be changed, the corrupt calendar will break processes in which it is included and possibly prevent operations +involving the entire iCal file+ containing other calendars as well.
One workaround is to copy the calendar's events manually into a different, working calendar, then delete the corrupt calendar containing the nonresponsive checkbox. That's what we did today with assistance from the Applecare product specialist on the phone, and it worked. All of the iCal capabilities, including restoring backups and replacing data on the Mobile Me calendar, started working again.
So if iCal behaves strangely or refuses to respond, it might be a good idea to first click checkboxes next to individual calendars. if the checkbox state can't be changed, repairing the calendar with the nonresponsive checkbox before taking other steps can save a great deal of time, effort, and frustration.
Tonight we owe a special thanks to Applecare's iApps prouduct support team, who quickly helped us get iCal and Mobile Me functioning again after several days offline.

    ltrager58,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It appears to me that "Help" is incorrect. The calendar selection for printing is ultimately made in the "Print" window using the "Calendars" pane.
I suggest that you provide iCal Feedback.

  • ICal defaults to print ALL calendars-help!

I just went to print my first calendar from iCal after upgrading to 10.5.6 from Tiger. Instead of iCal defaulting to the calendar I was working in, it defaults to print all calendars at once. I have to uncheck every calendar except the one I want to print. "Help" explains that the default should be the calendar I selected and was working on. Any suggestions?

  • How to Sync two calendars in iCal

OK, here is my problem. I can access two calendars with iCal (one is on Google Calendar and the other one is on a Microsoft Exchange 2007 server) how can I synchronize them the best? I want to keep both in their original place, but I also want things to show up in both.

    Stephen,
It seems to me that you have correctly determined that it makes sense to only publish an identical calendar from one of the computers.
After appropriately backing up your calendars, you might want to consider Resetting .Mac Sync. It appears as if both of your computers are using 10.4.6, but just in case..."If you sync between computers with different versions of Mac OS X, try to reset the sync data from the computer with Mac OS X 10.4, if possible."
Make sure that "Synchronize my calendars with other computers using .Mac is checked in the General Preference of the iMac.

  • Printing w/ Titles in iCal

I have created a calendar group to be printed, however iCal is showing me no option to print the calendar with a title/header, and will only display the month at the top of the page.  Is it possible to print this calendar displaying a title across the top? I have created calendars for many different projects, and want to have them all clearly labeled once they have been printed. thanks.

  • IPod not showing all Calendars from iCal

I just got a new iPod classic and when I hook it up to my MacBook and sync my calendars from iCal not all of them show up. I have tried syncing all and some selected, but if it didnt show in all, it wont show even checked off. Is this a bug in the system?
    Thanks

    Hello Kristen,
Have you double checked the media type of these TV Shows in iTunes? To do so, locate the TV Show, right->click on it and choose "Get Info" from the Shortcut Menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Options tab. There should be an option for *Media Type* with a drop down list next to it. Make sure that is set to "TV Show" and nothing else. Then hit OK when you are finished and sync the updated changes to your iPod.
Another thing to check is the settings you have configured from under the *TV Show* tab for your iPod in iTunes, when you have it plugged in. It may be set to sync all "unplayed" episodes. You will want to change this to something that is more fitting.
I would start with these two possibilities, and then we will go from there if need be.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I print my calendar from I-Cloud?

How can I print my calendar from I-Cloud?

If you computer is syncing calendars with iCloud, you can print it from your computer's calendar program (such as Outlook or Mac iCal/Calendar).  Otherwise, you'll have to take a screenshot of it on icloud.com and print the image.

  • How do you link Google calendar to iCal in Maverick?

Just downloaded Maverick (great) to my late 2008 aluminium laptop but cannot link Google Calendar with iCal.  In iCal tried deleting old account and re-entering but still iCal does not sync, although it still does on iPad and iPhone.  Any ideas?

    Hi there,
I have tested this out on my backup disk and there is a slight modification to the method. Will highlight this with quotation.
    ================================================================================ ==
It appears that once upgraded to Mavericks, the calendar folders are no longer compatible with the latest version of iCal. Hence why it crashes.
    To remediate,
    Close the iCal App
Duplicate the folder (For Backup reason)     /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar
Delete all content with in      /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar
    Go to:-
System Prefences | Internet Account | iCloud
    Uncheck Calendars, Recheck Calendars
    Select the iCloud profile
Press "-" to delete the whole iCloud profile.
Recreate the iCloud profile by select "+" then iCloud
Enter your iCloud Username and Password
It will asked you if you wish to merge the database. (You may have to do this more then once)
    For every other google calendar
Uncheck Calendars (if already checked), Recheck Calendars
Hopefully this will recreate all the calender folders within /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar and start re-syncing.
Once you are satified that all your calender are syncing, delete the /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar copy
    Good Luck.

  • Remove Exchange Calendar from iCal

I have an Exchange Calendar in iCal (Mountain Lion) that I want to remove. How can I do this? If I select it and choose Edit the Delete option is greyed out. The account is not listed in Preferences > Advanced either.
I want to delete it because every time I receive an invitiation in Outlook for Mac, the invite is being placed in the iCal calendar, but does not appear in my Outlook calendar.

I think I discovered where iCal/Calendar is getting the Exchange calendar data from. Initially I wondered whether the iPad/iPhone were doing something odd, but no, the Exchange mail account was set to sync Contacts and Calendar on both, via Active Sync.
I then plugged both devices into the Macbook and opened iTunes and checked the Info tab - "Sync Calendars" was not ticked.
I then discovered that in Mountain Lion a change was made to the Mac System Preferences under Mail, Contacts and Calendar - I saw my Exchange account listed and so clicked to edit it. It brought up a screen showing that Calendar was ticked. I unticked this and my appointments sent to me in Outlook are no longer appearing in ical - which is what i wanted.
Hope this might help someone else.

  • My reminders are gone from my Ical since upgrade.  What do I need to do to input reminders in Ical and be able to print reminders with my ical.  Thank you

My reminders are gone from my Ical since upgrade.  What do I need to do to input reminders in Ical and be able to print reminders with my ical.  Thank you

I totally agree.  I just wasted .5 hrs trying to figure out how to manipulate and sync the reminders with the iCAl.  Thanks for posting this thread online, I can stop wasting my time now.  Apple, please change it back or make these apps sync.
Side note.  I was creating my to do list and found the ability to asign a date by draging the task to the calendar in the bottom right.  Then I discovered that I can drag that same reminder/to-do task into iCal and it will be created as an event. Would be great if I could simply sync the reminders to iCal instead of draging them over though.  Then when I make the change in one the other can update with the next sync.  This also prevents human error if I drag and drop the reminder onto the wrong date in iCal.

  • Print Current Date on iCal Printed Output

My wife likes to print out her weekly calendar from iCal (which she sync's with her iPhone). It would be very useful if iCal could place "the dated printed" on the output hard copy. This would prevent outdated versions of the calendar from getting confused with the latest version printed. I just have not been able to figure out how to get this accomplished with iCal. I'm probably just overlooking something obvious. Help, please!

Is there a way to set the dock icon to update in Panther.
Not without keeping iCal open all the time.
