Printing CMC7 on IBM Infoprint 1532

Hello,
We are setting up ECC 6.0 on iSeries V5R4 and have a problem
Now, we have iSeries applications which print MICR CMC7 characters on an Infoprint 1532 printer without problems. It is configured as IPDS/AFP
From SAP we are unable to print CMC7 characters, we have tried following oss 133.660, using the printer as it is defined for iSeries app. (IPDS/AFP) and, in SAP, device type IBMNP without success. We have defined it as a non IPDS emulated printer (emulating 3812, host print transform, *INFOPRINT1500) and, in SAP, device type HP5MI, HPLJMI, SAPSCS, ..., without success
We opened a SAP message and were told to use device type SAPGOF and buy a converter to transform to IPDS. We have been told that the sw is Infoprint Manager with SAP peature. Its price is quite high
We think that if we can print CMC7 from iSeries without problems, we should be able to print CMC7 from SAP
We think many customers must be printing CMC7 or, at least MICR characters from SAP on iSeries, it must not be too difficult nor expensive, but can't find how to do and now we are quite hurry
Is it possible to print CMC7 on an Infoprint 1532 without any other sw? If not which printer or kind of printer should we use?
How should we define the printer on the iSeries and on SAP?
Any oss note we should follow?
Thanks in advance, Ximo Escobedo

Hi Volker, how are you? do you remember me? You certified me in SAP CPC to ASCII
Well, you are right, I work for IBM, but I don't like to use an expensive solution if there is a cheap one (don't worry, I know you did a joke). In any case, the customer has asked the SW to IBM in test mode. Perhaps the SW makes many things the customer likes and he buys it. IBM, the customer and myself would be glad and we would have our problem solved
We want to print MICR (magnetic) characters with font CMC7. Untill now, they have been printing checks (cheques?) from iSeries applications with DDS through the Infoprint 1532 with the MICR module, and works really fine
All of us thought that if i5/OS was able to print so, SAP on iSeries would be able too, but we can't find how to print CMC7 with same printer
We have 2 DEVD in i5/OS: the IPDS/AFP one and another one emulating a 3812 with host print transform and *infoprint1500, as I said when I posted original question
Is it possible to print MICR CMC7 with Infoprint 1532 with MICR simm? How? If not, what would you recommed us?

  • IBM Infoprint 1145 not working properly with Snow Leopard 10.6.4 (Network)

Since the last OS update to 10.6.4, IBM Infoprint 1145 printer doesn't work properly. We have the printer working as a network printer with all the protocols enabled and now it takes almost 5 minutes to print a page.
No problem with the rest of network printers.
I have reinstalled the drivers again and it behaves the same.
With 10.6.3 and older versions the printer worked perfectly.
    Any ideas?

Solved... The problem was due to the use of an external DNS. Using the DNS servers of my organization within the network configuration solved the issue.

  • Missing IBM Infoprint after installing driver

I installed the OS X package for the IBM InfoPrint 1130 from opendrivers.com. HOwever, after installing it, doing Add in the Printer setup, it still isn't in the list. I am trying to install it for an IP printer.
    TIA

Someone made a mistake - that driver shows up in the Lexmark group.

  • Can't print from my IBM

I've spent the last couple of days reviewing similar posts, and tried suggestions within with no success. Here's my problem:
I have an older iMac running 10.3.9 wirelessly connected to the internet with an Airport Extreme I picked up about a year ago. Recently I decided to run my printer through the Airport. My Mac found the printer with no problem, and prints just fine.
I also have an IBM ThinkPad, running Windows XP. I have no trouble, after initial setup headaches, getting the ThinkPad to find the network and get online, but I can't print from the ThinkPad.
I used Bonjour to find the printer, an hp deskjet 940c, and the setup seemed to work. (I used the manufacturer's disk for the driver.) But everytime I try to print I get: "this document failed to print" error message. The ThinkPad is connected to the network and online.
I also wish the ThinkPad could find the iMac. Is this wishful thinking?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but now I'm so close.
I can print from the IBM thanks to ifelix.
I can get files off the IBM onto my iMac, again after using ifelix's guide.
I can't get the IBM to find the iMac.
Here's where I'm stuck: stage 6 of his guide: http://tech.ifelix.net:80/3001.html
I type in the address of this network place, which I confirmed in my iMac under "sharing" and then I'm prompted with a window titled "Connect to 10.0.1.3" It wants me to enter User name and password. I've tried both for the iMac and the Thinkpad and neither work. The window disappears and then quickly returns having added the prefix "10.0.1.3\" to the user name. I've tried using the iMac username and shortname. Nothing works, I can't get past that password / user name window to the "What do you want to name this place?" screen.
    Any suggestons?

  • Pre-printed forms on IBM 5577 dot printer

    Dear all,
I was wondering if there is any SAP tool in order to use pre-printed forms (with specific layout) on IBM 5577 dot printer which would allow to speciy a pre-defined layout.
Or do I have to define for each field the position on the pre-printed form thanks to SAPscript editor?
    Regards.

    HI Cany,
There is no such tool to identify the problem .In scripts and smartforms we have to define the layout pertaining to printer and its configuration settings.once the layout is defined and the printer is defined during the printing the printing begins automatically.in ur case u r talking about pre printed forms like application forms like cases, for this we have to know the length of the form initially and take care to identify the length of the field and also position.Hope u understand this.

  • HP photosmart 2610 printing forms on IBM Lotus Form Viewer 3.5

I have an HP photosmart 2610 printer that will not print forms from the IBM Lotus Form Viewer 3.5.  I've tried on 2 different computers (one w/ Windows Vista and one w/ Windows 7) and neither will work.  I get the following error message:
    Sun Jan 29 15:34:42 2012 0 Viewer : Printer Driver's EndPage() Failed
     at PRINT ERROR(.\src\FormViewer\PrintEngine\CPrintEngine.cpp:1960 Fri Mar 27 10:34:52 2009):12880:8
Is there a fix for this?  Thank you!

    Hi there ptspaid,
To eliminate and potential software problem lets try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Is it possible to create a printer driver for unsupported printer?

I need to print to an IBM Infoprint 40. IBM has drivers for Classic, but not OS X. Can I somehow use the driver information in the classic file and make it into an OS X driver that Tiger can read/use?

This printer is a postscript printer. You only need a .ppd file, not a driver. A .ppd file specifies page sizes, resident fonts, and if applicable, print dialog menu plugins. Unfortunately, OS 9 .ppds are not completely compatible with OS X because of different plugin architectures. It doesn't hurt to try the OS 9 .ppd, but it may not give you the options you expected. Windows .ppds are sometimes less dependent on plugins, and can be used in OS X.
To use a .ppd that isn't "installed," choose model "Other," which gives you a file selector dialog, so you can go choose the .ppd file.
    Hope this helps.

I've got an Epson R1800 and a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5. I just tried printing an 11x17 print and it was extremely light (almost draft-like quality).
Using what version and what driver? There is a know problem with the Gutenprint drivers v5.1.3 that come pre-installed with Leopard. For Epson printers, they will default to Draft mode unless you specify a specific resolution. Later versions of the Gutenprint drivers have corrected this.
After downloading what I thought was the latest driver, I tried again, to no avail. Every time I try and load a new printer it only provides me with the Gutenprint selection.
What version of the Gutenprint drivers are you using? What settings have you tried under the Printer Features section of a print window? You need to make sure that you select the type of paper you are using to print. You should also set the *Image Type* (Output Control Common 2) for the type of job you are printing. If things are still too light, you can try increasing the Density or perhaps just the *Black Density* under Output Control Extra 1 2.
    Any known work-arounds????
Have you tried the driver from Epson. It is not included with Leopard. You need to download and install it separately. Start at _http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportLeopard.jsp_ to find the driver download.

List of device types in SAP Releases 4.6x/6.xx/NW04/NW04s
    OSS NOTE : 8928
Installation of new device types ********************
Many device types are appended as a zip-attachment to this note.
README.TXT contains information about these device types and codepages.
README_UPLOAD.TXT contains information on how to import the device
    types.
    PRINTER DRIVERS AND DEVICE TYPES:
In R/3, a distinction is made between "printer driver" and "device type". The device type consists of all the attributes defined for an output device. For correct access, these must be made known in the R/3 system. They cover aspects such as control commands for font selection, page size, character set selection, character set used and so on. One of these attributes is the printer driver to be used by SAPscript (R/3 forms processor) for this particular printer.
If your printer is not specified in the list below, ask the manufacturer if the printer is compatible with one of the defined printers or if it can be used with another emulation (for example, Postscript).
If the printer is not compatible or cannot be operated using an emulation, you must create a new device type (if the printer is not compatible). To print from SAPscript, you must choose one of the existing printer drivers.
At present, there are five SAPscript printer drivers. They include:
for HP-PCL5 (for example, HP Laserjet 3,4,5,6 series)
for PostScript printers (PS level 2)
for PRESCRIBE (for example, Kyocera FS-1500)
    for device types SWIN/SAPWIN/xxSWIN/xxSAPWIN
    for all other models.
The last driver is known as the "standard driver". It cannot provide absolutely precise positioning on the paper and does not support proportional fonts. Printer drivers are relevant for forms output with SAPscript. For the output of ABAP lists special printer drivers are only used as of Release 4.5A. They are anchored in the C kernel and are developed and maintained exclusively by SAP.
In the spool environment, device types refer not only to printers but also other output devices, for example, fax machines. Device types support specific printers or printer models. Device type definitions are stored completely in tables and can be individually adapted, modified or enhanced. If SAP performs such an adjustment for a customer, it constitutes a consulting service, and is generally charged seperately. On the other hand, the list of device types, above all in conjunction with SAP's hardware partners, is continually expanded.
    COMPATIBLE PRINTERS:
Some printer models have been so successful on the market that many OEM products, clones and compatibles are also listed. You can often use compatible printers with R/3 by entering the printer definition of the original. Since complete compatibility is extremely rare, SAP can offer no assurances regarding the usability of compatible printers. This also applies to follow-up models made by the original producer.
    LIST OF PRINTERS:
This is the list of device types supplied by SAP in different Releases. Most of these device types use "Western European" or "North American" character sets. Some device types in newer Releases however, also support other character sets and language areas such as Russian or Czech.
The device types named in this list are supported in the standard R/3 System as of the release mentioned.
If an OCR-A font (prerequisite for check printing) or an OCR-B font is supported in the R/3 device types, this is indicated. However, this generally requires additional font cassettes or firmware for the printer involved, since few printers have an OCR-A font "built in." For additional information about this, contact the printer manufacturer.
Check related notes attached for addition information on printer supportin R/3.

  • Printing from SAP via main frames

    Hi,
We are runnnig Our SAP 47 on Solaris Operating System.  We have a requirement for printing form SAP using Mainframe Print Queues.  Does any one have any info on how to setup print queues in main frame or printing from SAP via mainframe servers.  Any Info would be really helpful.
    thanks in advance

You can use IBM Infoprint Server for z/OS.
    <a href="http://www.printers.ibm.com/internet/wwsites.nsf/vwwebpublished/ipserverhome_z_ww">http://www.printers.ibm.com/internet/wwsites.nsf/vwwebpublished/ipserverhome_z_ww</a>
But this is priced feature of z/OS and requires some customization.
    Regards, Martin

  • Print of jewel case covers

When I print jewel case covers I experience the following issues :
    - The song list is OK, but first song does not show song number, so it looks like below example
    Song A
    2. Song B
    3. Song C
    4. Sonc D
    - The front cover mosaic shows white squares for some songs, instead of the cover art.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated

  • Change Font size for Line printer when Printing ALV

We are using device type IBM 64xx LP+ emulation 1.00A to print to an IBM line printer.
I would like to change the font size of an ALV report I am sending to the device.

What/Where can I add the font size
    Set to P-Series Emulation (SSCC P 0)

    Line Spacing = 6 lpi                          (SFCC 2)

    Thanks,
    Mike

You will find the P-series emulation here: [LinePrinter Plus programmer's reference manual|http://www.printronix.com/WorkArea/downloadasset.aspx?id=4546] (printronix doc)
You don't have many options with P-series. Maybe it's better to choose another emulation, and get the IBM 64xx programmer's guide.

  • Printing wirlessly, Windows 2000 to Airport and Bonjour not working

My set-up is as follows: Airport Extreme with printer sharing on and my printer is listed. 5 year old iMac connected to Airport Extreme via ethernet and running 10.3.9. Printer Sharing, Personal File Sharing, Internet and Windows Sharing is on and the iMac prints fine. PowerBook is connected wirelessly with an Airport card and is running the the latest Tiger. Again, Printer Sharing, Personal File Sharing, Internet Sharing and Windows Sharing, is on and my PowerBook prints fine. BTW, I'm printing through a HP 7200.
My wife has a 3-year-old IBM Thinkpad running Windows 2000 with a wireless card installed. She can join my Airport network and connect to the internet fine. Sharing is on. I've installed the HP software and it shows up in the Printers pane and I also right clicked and turned on sharing for this specific printer. I can select it and it prints fine if I hardwire the printer to the IBM's USB port.
When I installed Bonjour and the pain for available printers comes up non are listed (my wife has several printers in her Printer pane as it is a work machine and she sometimes has to bring it to work and print. At home she usually uses her own Lexmark but I want her to be able to use my printer as the Lexmark isn't that great). I've tried everything including re-installing Bonjour (yes, even the latest Bonjour) and even the HP printer software/drivers. Nothing seems to work.
And I thought Bonjour was supposed to be "seemless"?Any ideas would be much appreciated. I've been fiddling with this thing off and on for a few months now to no avail. Thanks in advance!

I appreciate your suggestions but I have a slightly
more complicated wireless network: I have an iMac G5
in my home office, and my daughter has a PC with
Windows 2000 in her room with a wireless card.
Internet comes through a DSL modem in my office into
an Airport Extreme that is networked with an Airport
Express in my daughter's room. The Express is
needed to boost the wireless signal to her room.
Move the Express to a position two thirds of the way from your Office to her room.
If the signal is weak when it arrives at the Express, it can't do anything to boost if if the computer is in the same room... It won't do anything.
If you move the AX to a position where it can receive a stronger signal it can then boost that stronger signal to an area which otherwise would receive a weak signal.
An AX can not improve a weak signal by itself, it needs to recieve a strong signal to begin with, all it does is increase the prospective range of the wireless network.
    You say
    her
computer can recognize, using Bonjour, an HP printer
    then you say
However, her computer neither sees the HP printer
Can she see or not see the printer?
I would move the AX as described and see if that makes a difference.

  • 1020 Prints blank pages

HP printer 1020 Q5911A built in August 2007 fails to print after install.  (posted to another solved thread).
I bought a used 1020 (circa 2007 with 2400 pages printed) for some friends.  Upon connecting to their Dell desktop, it took off, loaded the USB drivers from window's site, then some drivers from HP's site.  Attempts to print cause flashing red and green lights alternately, followed by the printing of a blank page.  I tried my laptop but to no avail.  I took it home for a more careful analysis which follows:
I have an identical 1020 which I'm very happy with. (circa 2006 with 2400 pages)  I downloaded the LJ1018_1020_1022_Full_Solution Original CD install application and the HP Printer Scan Doctor to a thumb drive.  By deleting the 1020 printer and reinstalling from scratch, my 1020 prints fine. Connecting my friend's 1020, deleting the 1020 and reinstalling the software, it will not print the test page as requested.  Upon re-doing this procedure, I observed that on the first attempt to print the test page, the printer alternately flashes the red and green lights and prints a blank page.  Additional attempts to print the test page causes a solid green light and a blank page printed.  After several successive attempts to print the test page(5-6), it started printing a document I may have  attempted to print much earlier (days). But nothing showed in the queue.  It continued to print this document on the next several attempts to print the test page, but I can no longer be duplicate this behavior.  This shows that the fuser, etc., is working.  (The printed test page by the former owner is what sold me on the purchase.)  I installed another toner cartridge, but no change.
I ran the HP Printer Scan Doctor.  Everything checks out OK.  I'm a retired computer test developer, so I know my way around, but this has me stumped.

Let me clarify. Upon connecting the printer to my friends system, it took off and loaded USB drivers and HP software, but would only print blank pages.  One of the pages I chose to print was a scratch document, which appeared to go to the printer with flashing lights on the printer as normal, and I assume it got stored in the printer's memory.  By making the printer not-ready (no paper), attempts to print the test page, caused them to show up in the queue.  Making the printer ready w/paper caused it to apparently transfer the files to the printer, but they came out blank. (I'm not sure how this works:  Does the software in the host construct the test page using data collected during device initialization and send the page to the printer, [which I suspect], or does the printer construct the page on the fly locally and print it?) This was true whether using the Dell desktop or my Lenovo laptop.  After deleting the printer and reloading the software on my laptop, the symptoms remained.  So I took the printer home to troubleshoot it.  Hooking up my printer to my laptop, it would not print until I deleted the printer and reloaded the software.  (I take it that there is some data that is specific to the printer that prevents switching printers without reloading the software- perhaps microcode difference.  But it appears to download new microcode everytime the software is reloaded.  Many years ago I redesigned the Dot Matrix printer tester when IBM went from the 40/80 chars/sec to the 120 cps, so I know that interface, but now everything is intelligent.)
Running the scan tool showed everything working properly, so I assume that its was doing some communications tests as well as some self tests.  No !'s.
Having limited visibility to the internals, I just kept trying to run the test page several times.  The first  page after software reload causes red/green alternately flashing during file transfer, followed by the printing of a blank page.  Subsequent attempts printed blank pages, That is untill I kept trying and all of a sudden it started printing the scratch document that I had requested it to print many pages before and over at my friend's house.  So it appears that it just kept walking through old memory in the printer and printing whatever it found there, and not the freshly downloaded test page.  Wierd!  This it continued for 3-4 test pages, probably because I had previously requested it to print the scratch document several times.  Like the pointer is not getting (re)set to the correct location in the printer memory after downloading the file.
My laptop runs windows 7.  Not sure about my friend Dell, but the symtoms are the same.  I appreciate the instructions for a complete uninstall, etc and I will try that.  However, I don't have  to do that to get it to run my 1020 which is only a year older.  I can't imagine they changed the pc card in the printer, tho that could happen.  Its like its getting the wrong microcode.  How do I interrogate the pc card, or does all that show up on the test page.  And can the test page be redirected out of the queue to a file so that it can be examined using document software.
I will download the software and do the procedure as you suggest.  However, I hate to do this on my fully functional laptop using my printer. The printer is connected directly to a USB port on the computer.
As a EE, and having the same problem both at my friends house and mine, and with my printer and my friend's printer plugged into the same power strip, I think a power strip problem is remote indeed.
I'll post another reply after I run the HP Printer Install Wizard and report the results.
    Thanks much.
