Printing dashboard with network printer

Is there any way to send/print the dashboard page to physical network printer? i am having links to HTML print and PDF print. But i want to print with network printer. please give some suggetion.
thanks

Currently there is no out of the box solution. But with some amount of work you can make it very robust by using ibots and BI Publisher Java APIs. You need to basically call the delivery manager API from the ibot. You can pass the output of a dashboard to the API which can print to a local printer. I have an example in my blog entry here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/oracle-bi-ee-101332-calling-bi-publisher-java-apis-from-ibots-storing-reports-in-file-system-using-delivers-and-bi-publisher-scheduler/. Though this talks about storing the reports in a file system, the idea is the same. Instead of a file-system destination use printer as the destination.
Thanks,
Venkat

  • Adobe reader XI: doule sided print problem with network printer (windows 8 pro)

Hi, I'm facing a problem with my old printer, the xerox phaser 3160n. It was connected to my notebook through network connection, and everything works well with Adobe X /Win 7 OS (including the double side print, of course) last month, I have upgraded my NB to windows 8 with clean install
clean install my printer driver for windows 8 too, and Adobe reader XI was also downloaded through official website.
However, since I was about to use double sided print in Adobe reader XI (11.00.02) it couldn't obey the order, but just print one side as usual
I have checked the "option" of my printer, and it was correctly set to "double-sided print". I have tried word 2013 to open the same pdf, and choose the same "double-sided print" and it works perfectly.
Is this problem a bug? and would it be corrected in the next update version??
(I remeber I've saw a similar issue too, with network printer, but I couldn't find it)
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
Meanwhile, after insatlling the latest driver for printer from the manufacture website, restart the spooler service as a test.
Start > Run > cmd and type "net stop spooler" after that "net start spooler" or start > run > service.msc and restart it over the GUI.
Run Printer Troubleshootor under Action Center\Troubleshooting\Programs\Printer, and check if it helps.
And yes, the manufacture should have more sence about the printer, it's recommended to contact them.

  • Printer issue with network printer model # laserjet 4350tn

printjobs of multiple pages is inserting blank pages in the job ex. if its an 6 page job it will mix in 1-2 blank pages in between.
Is it mechanical a setting on the printer itself or the printer properties on the network that is causing it.
Users experiencing issue have windows xp

after perhaps 1/4 page of print I get an "out of memory" error message.
You are probably using background printing. Your print image is written to a spool file and the keyboard is freed up for your use, while the de-spooler (such as Print Monitor, Espon3 Background, or whatever that printer uses) works in the background, sending your document to the printer.
The out-of-memory message is likely coming from the de-spooler, not the Mac OS. To fix, either allocate more memory to your de-spool program, or print "live" and endure not being able to use the keyboard while your document prints.
I have max ram installed (384MB)
Contrary to what the knowledgebase says, all models and all revisions of Beige G3 can run 3*256 MB RAM, for a maximum of 768 MB total, provided you install the correct 256 MB modules for a Beige or Blue & White G3. There are module height limits for the desktop model, modest ones for the tower, and for all practical purposes none for the All-In-One.
If I boot straight into OS 9, ... the USB port doesn't show up in the port list.
If you are using the same image for Classic and Mac OS 9, you may not have the correct Mac OS 9 drivers for the USB card installed. The simplest fix is to re-install Mac OS 9, taking care to Re-install all Networking items. It is not destructive, and generally takes only a few minutes.

  • Extreme lag for Print window with networked printer

Hi, i have 10.4 on an iMac and my Powerbook.
I have a USB printer shared via airport from the iMac.
With any program, the first time I click "print" it lags extremely. The delay is like 3 minutes. The first few times it hung like that I forced quit the programs, but have since learned it recovers if you leave it. Subsequent printing panels come up instantly.
If I turn off airport the print dialog comes up instantly even in newly opened programs.
So, my question is, what the heck? Is there anything I can do? I didn't have this probem in 10.3, so I guess this is an introduced bug. I don't believe the configuration ahs otherwise changed.
    thanks.

If your previous Epson worked via Windows Printing, then you know that you can't use an Epson-supplied driver for Windows Printing. You Must use a Gutenprint driver or other CUPS modular driver. The Epson driver is limited to USB only. If there isn't a Gutenprint driver yet available, you may need to buy a CUPS modular driver from www.printfab.net.

  • Canon IR 3235 -- snow leopard -- problems with network printer

    Hi,
since yesterday I've problems to print to the network printer [canon IR 3235-3245] -- updated to snow leopard ca. 14 days ago, then experienced printing problems, search this list for answers, then downloaded new canon drivers, re-configured the printer in system preferences, send the print command --- and got 100s of white sheets of paper instead of the 2 pages I wanted ...
what was wrong, or can anybody give me a clue to solve this?
    thanks, bommelkamp

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
With regards to the printing of 100's of white sheets, this could be a result of using the Canon PPDs but not having the PostScript license enabled in the iR3245.
The iR3245 series is supported by the Canon UFR2 v2.00 driver. This is the driver to download if you haven't done so already. With this driver installed, you create an IP printer using LPD as the protocol and a queue name of LP. Then in the Print Using select the "Canon iR3235/iR3245 UFR II (UK)".
Alternatively you can use Generic PCL Laser Printer for the printer model instead of the Canon UFR2 driver. This will get you printing but does not support any of the copiers finishing options.

  • Can't print to ethernet networked printer... suddenly!

Today, for some reason I can't print to our networked printer, a Kyocera FS-6950DN laser. All I am getting now is a 'Network host is busy, will retry in 10/15 secs' and the job just holds.
So, what have I tried. To eleminate any printer issues I have successful managed to print direct from my MacBook (also running OSX 10.6.8) without a problem. So the printer seems fine. However, if a connect directly (again via a single ethernet cable) to my MacPro it won't print. I have deleted the printer and created a new one. Actually, I have done this several times. When I go to create a new printer I can see the printer listed a a bonjour printer. I select it, then I use 'generic postcript'.  I can choose the my printer here, but I seem to remember that this was a problem when I set it up originally and I was advised to use the generic option. I click add and that used to work. But not now. I have checked that the printer has a static ip address and it does. I have also tried adding the printer as an IP printer and adding the IP address etc maually, but again this doesn't work. I've tried this both with LPD set or IPP set. I get the same busy error message.
Trawling the net I have noticed lots of people with Kyocera print issues relating to the latest OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 update. Although having succesfully printed from my MacBook that would suggest that 10.6.8 isn't the issue in my case.
Any help or pointers in the right diection would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks – Roy
I should also say that I have done the usual... repaired the permissions and reset the PRAM etc. I have ping tested the connection from my MacPro and there is a response from the printer. It's just not finding the printer when I send the job to print?

Managed to fix this by changing the ip address on the printer. It seems that the address was out of range for our new router. Changed the printers static address back to something within range and the printer bust into life. Simple as that. Only took me a day and a half to work it out... : )
If you have similar issues I hope that my post is helpful.

  • Trouble printing to a network printer

I am having trouble getting me mac to print to a network printer. I can go to add printer, it sees the network and the printer. The mac has the software as a choice, Canon MX320, and adds the printer just fine. But when I go to actually print something, even a test page, it just sits there and says "printing" in the status menu and never does anything. I have also loaded the Canon software on the mac itself, which did not seem to help. Does anyone have any advise?
My mac is connected to a windows computer via ethernet. The printer is hooked to the windows computer. Mac sees the computer and the printer and pretends that it is working, but printer never responds. I don't really print from my mac that much as I use it primarily for FCP, it just would be nice if it could. I have tried to print to a dell on the network and a lexmark, but just thought the problem was that those printers were older and the drivers wouldn't work with the mac. So when I got a brand new Canon and plugged it in, I thought it would be a cinch.

Because you have the printer connected via USB to Windows you cannot use the Canon driver on the Mac. For this type of connection you need to use an alternate driver like Gutenprint or PrintFab. Gutenprint is preferred because it is free and comes with OS X. However the MX series is not yet listed as a supported model, even with the latest version of Gutenprint. So if you wanted to stick with Gutenprint then you would need to find a compatible model to the MX320. Some previous posters have mentioned that the MP150 and MP160 Gutenprint drivers have worked with their Canon.
If you don't manage to get the Gutenprint driver printing correctly you could look at using [PrintFab|http://www.printfab.net] which does cost €49 but does have a 30 day trial so at least you could try it out. And it does list the MX320 as a supported printer.

  • Trouble Printing from a network printer

I recently purchased a MacBook and I am having problems printing using the network printer. It's a HP Color LaserJet CM1017 (or 1015) and my MacBook connects to the printer yet never prints. In the queue it says "On hold authentication required"
    Please help!

You didn't mention if you're trying to share the printer or not.
Using a popular search engine, the general advice is to delete the printer and add it back in.

  • Printing to a network printer - printing error "Adobe Print Engine" failure

I was printing to a network printer all day and then it just stop. The printing error read: "Adobe Print Engine failed to output your data due to an unknown problem." Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this problem? It is happening with ALL of my printers on my network.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Have you made any recent changes/updates to any Adobe software on your system?
Also, you say that you are having this problem on all your network printers. Does this mean that you can't print to any network printer from your computer, or that no one can print to any network printer?

  • Authenticated Printing to A Network Printer

Really hope someone can help me. I want to set password printing to the network printer here at work. I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 and I have the printer already in my printers queue by IPP protocol. The Printer/Photocopier/Scanner is a Xerox Workcenter 5638 and I know I can set up the pcs in my office for secure printing. But can someone walk me through exactly how I would do that here on my mac. I have tried with no success. Thanks in advance.

The Mac driver would need the same menu as the Windows driver in order for you to enter the password before printing. Have you checked all the menus with the Xerox driver when you select to print?
We use Canon and there is a similar function they have called Dept ID Management. In order to print to the copier when this is enabled, the driver has a menu called Special Features and here you have the ability to enter your account number and password.
If you cannot find a menu that allows you to enter an ID, select the printer queue in Print & Fax , open the Options & Supplies menu and select the Driver tab. Here there may be an option to enable secure printing.
If you still have no luck with enabling the setting, then I can download the driver and check it. Let me know if you need this done.

  • Printing issues on network printer (Xerox Phaser 4500DT)

I need to be able to print to a network printer which is a Xerox Phaser 4500DT. It is simply networked from its IP address. I have the latest driver. Every time I try to print anything the job automatically goes on pause. If I click resume, it does print, but this takes time, every time I print. The URL is "pap://*/Phaser%204500DT/LaserWriter".
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since upgrading to 10.5.6 I can no longer print multiple jobs to any of my Phaser 4500 machines(N/DT)? If the printer is clear, the job will spool and print.
If more than one job is sent or multiple users print at the same time, the local print queue is changed to 'PAUSE PRINTER' - I have tried printing via Appletalk, Bonjour & IP printing, the same problem occurs.
Why does 10.5.6 not allow you to spool and queue a print job any more? This is VERY frustrating in a busy office with multiple users attempting to print at the same time! - Any advice would be gratefully received!

  • Printing issues on network printer (Sharp MX-N700N)

    Hi all,
Well my issue is twofold really. Primarily, I need to be able to print to a network printer which is the Sharp MX-M700N. Now it's on a windows network, so I added it to my printer list via it's IP address. So far so good...so now I have the latest driver avaialble from the Sharp consumer website (sharp-usa.com) and what happens is anytime I try to print anything, the job automatically goes on pause. Even if I click resume, it then pauses again immediately.
Now the second part of my issue, is that other people in my office who are also on Macs running 10.5.2 have added this printer via it's IP, but they used an older driver (for version 10.4.x) that was downloaded off of the Sharp service site, accessible only by authorized technicians. Now here's the thing....they can print to it perfectly.
So immediate thought is...use the driver they're using right? Well, when I try to install that driver, it's telling me it can't because a newer version is already installed. I've gone into Macintosh HD > Library > Printers to find the driver to try and delete it, but there's tons of stuff in the Sharp folder there and I'm worried about just randomly deleting files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Reading through your post, you may find that the latest driver you have will work, you just might have to ensure you have the correct protocol selected and queue name entered. If you look at one of the other Mac's that is working, you can select the print in the list, select 'Open Print Queue' and then select the Info icon. This will display the General tab and in the lower section next to URI will be the protocol and queue used; ex lpd://ip_address/print.
If you do have the exact settings in your Mac, and you want to look at removing the driver, then check that an uninstaller is not included with the driver installer. I've seen with the Canon copier drivers, you have the option to Uninstall and this removes all the files located in /Library/Printers/Canon/PS. Hopefully you have something the same for the Sharp.
If not, then copy the contents of the Sharp folder to another location and then delete the original folder contents.

  • HT3049 Why do I keep getting "Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME" when trying to print on Windows networked printer over wi-fi?

Why do I keep getting "Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME" when trying to print on Windows networked printer over wi-fi?

If I run the following (on the machine I'm trying to set up the share)
    smbclient -L localhost -U%
    I got the following output
Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED)
so I thought it might be something incorrect with the iptables side of things, however I haven't really touched that at all and it seems to look correct
    iptables -nvL
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 667 packets, 79977 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT 157 packets, 20724 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
So from my (very little) knowledge this appears correct (I think)... However it appears that something is blocking access somewhere.

  • Printer to a network printer at a customers office...

I am a pc user switching to mac...
The mfg of the printer must offer MAC and PC drivers to hook directly to a USB on a MAC. So, a mfg like Dell (make by lexmark) will not work with MAC (no drivers offered for MAC), but someone like Lexmark will (drivers offered for MAC). Right?
If a mfg says there printer offers MAC drivers, you must confirm they at OS X drivers, but beyond that, there are no surprises or compromises from the PC drivers. The printer will work as expected with no surprises. Right?
So, how does this work with printers not directly attached to the MAC via USB, but attached to the network via an ethernet cable? For example, if I hook a Dell AIO 966 to a USB MAC, you have to hack it to get it to work (if at all), because Dell does not have MAC drivers. But, it has a ethernet plug, so if I hook it up to the network (with works fine from PC), do I still need MAC drivers to install on the MAC to use it over the network? I think that answer is YES (I hope the answer in no), which leads me to this question...
If I am in an office and join their network with my Mac, I would not be able to use their network printer because I have not installed that printers MAC drivers on my MAC (which would probably be more trouple than it is worth)...that seems to limit my ability with MAC joining ad hoc networks a customer location (for example). Taken a step further, I would not be able to use any of their network assets (e.g. scanner) for that same reason.
Is all that right, or can any computer print to a network printer without drivers installed?
    Please advise
    Thanks!

richard804 is correct. You will need to configure file and printer sharing on all the computers.
Follow this link to configure File and printer sharing.

  • Printing to a network printer by command line

    Hi
I would like to know how to print to a network printer from the command line using its IP.
    In windows we can do:
    lpr -S<Server Ip> -P<Server Ip>
How can I do it in linux?
I could not find any clue in the man page and have googled but vainly. Always I was redirected to CUPS.
    Thank you!
    Serge

My question in fact is: Is it posible to print directly to the IP of the printer, not to its name?
I think in general you can't do this.  With the standard tools ( CUPs, LPD, etc. ) you need to first set up the print queue(s), then specify which queue to send the jobs to by name.
There was a tool called rlpr which did exactly what you're looking for, but it is completely separate from CUPS and the other print spooling software, and it's site seems to be down ATM.
