Printing dates on photos

I posted a question about the ability to use IPhoto to print dates on pictures in July of 2008.
I received one reply that shareware called Acorn was available to do this.
I cannot find any such shareware and the suggestion that I make a book to get a date printed on a picture is not a solution, not even close.
I know that some people think that printing dates on pictures is ugly, but there are also many people like myself that happen to think the ability to put dates on pictures is really nice. Matter of fact, when I bought my Sony HI Def Camcorder last year, software for doing this was included for doing this on Windows. Now I dont like to go there and I am having a hard time trying to figure out why its so horrible for Apple to not include the ability to print dates on pictures in IPhoto. No one is making anyone print the dates, just give us the ability to do it if we want to. In looking at the forums, I see several who are also struggling with this problem with no solution in sight.
Can't someone please help out on this issue. Perhaps taking the windows software and making a Mac version. Thanks so mulch for your help. This is really a frustrating issue and will not go away.

In order of price here are some suggestions - and links:
Seashore (free)
_[The Gimp|http://www.gimp.org/macintosh>_ also free
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
[Pixelmator|http://www.pixelmator.com> ($60 approx.)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • How to print date on photos

Can anyone please advise how to print the date on photos on my HP C6380 All in One printer.  I have managed to change the settings  to do it before but now it is defeating me.  I would like to make it a default if I can.
    This question was solved.

Well since there is no date and time setting on the printer you will have to use whatever software you have to super impose a time and date on the photo.  Then print it on the printer.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

  • How to print date & time in photos

    Thanks for the help.
I need to print either photos with time and dates in them... or the Bridge contact sheet with date and time info.
The final printed image will be used in court to photo document evidence.
Do I have to do a screen capture or is there some other way?
My camera will not allow me to imprint time and date.
I'm using CS4 on both Windows and Mac.
Thanks again in advance for the taking the time to help.

I may have sent this twice, but I'm new to this and this is my first time trying to post.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  Much appreciated.
And will follow up on your suggestions.

I think there are (various) Scripts about for that.
    For example addExifDate1.5.jsx:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&extid=1346521
One should be able to adapt it to include the time.
You could ask in the Photoshop Scripting Forum or http://www.ps-scripts.com/

How to print date & time stamp on photos?

    Three methods:
File>process multiple files>labels. Be sure to uncheck "same as source", or the originals will be overwritten. It is best to work on duplicate files, esp. while learning.
Use the horizontal or vertical type tool to add the information manually to each picture file
If the same information is to be applied to several pictures, e.g. a copyright notice, use  of a brush made in PSE is very efficient

The date they were taken us in the EXIF data and is included in the export
However it is trivial to modify it so I doubt that it would hold water in court

  • Can i print date/time on selected photos in IPhoto? (version 9.5.1)

  • Print time and date on photos

I need to print date and time on some photos that I print; who can I do this.  Do I need special app?

What app are you using to organize your photos? If you are using Aperture you can create a watermark and put the date and time on it however that would be tedious. You can also annotate documents in Preview which would allow you to input the date and time, again this would be tedious.
If you have a large number of files to do this with then you may want to automate the process by learning how to do this in the pre-loaded Automator app on your Mac.
You can also look in the Mac App store to see if there are any apps that offer that feature for you.
Finally, many cameras have that feature built into them, primarily point and shoot cameras.

  • How do I print titles on photos

I would like to be able to print my photos with the title either on the edge of the photo or on the photo along one edge. I would also like to include the date, so years from now I know when the photo was taken. (Yes I know that I could write this on the back, but prefer having it printed with the photo.) Is there any way to do this in iphoto? (I presently use my Nikon software, which does this, but would like to switch to iphoto if I can figure out how to include the titles and dates.)

    Hi malachite,
no not with iPhoto. You can set up another graphics program such as PS or PS Elements as an external editor within iPhoto Preferences and add your text to the photo there and save it with the same name and flattened. The edit will then be reflected within iPhoto.

  • Printing date in the actual picture?

Hi, I have iPhoto on two machines. One older and one newer. However, I cannot figure out how to save an image with the date -in- the image. My wife wants to print photos that included the date taken on the picture. Is there a way I can do this in iPhoto?
Our old camera automatically printed the date in the image, but the new one seemingly does not. The file has the information on the date and time taken, but we cannot figure out how to get that information onto the image itself.
    Help?
    Thanks,
    -Josh2

Josh2, hi, do you have AppleWorks?
I just tried it, if you don't have too many photos to add dates to...
Open AppleWorks, click on the Drawing Starting Point. Go up to File>Insert, locate the photo you wish to date, Then click on the top left button on the tool bar, it looks like A on a graph paper background. Figure out how to choose your font color, adjust your text frame to the proper size, type the date and any comments. Click Save up in the File Menu. I made some cutesy prints. "Don't we clean up Good?" That sort of thing.
My Kodak digital has the date on photo option , it has just saved me money. Get out your instructions. If it can do it, it will tell you how to set it.

  • Print settings for photos for HP Photosmart 3180

When I first hooked up the HP3180 I tried printing photos from iPhoto and could select 4x6 from the iPhoto Print window. I printed several photos easily.
After my daughter had been using the MacBook for several weeks (wirelessly connecting to printer through Airport Express), the Print settings changed. Now, my Paper choices include many choices of strange sets of numbers numbers but none are 4x6, 5x7, etc. Also the Presets used to include "Photo Paper" and other choices. What happened to those settings? Is it Express or Bonjour-related. There is no way now to select 4x6 in the Print window.

All of the directions received from all parties still do not solve this problem.
The correct printer Epson Stylus 2200 is selected in System Preferences as well as in PS Elements.  There are any number of dialogue boxes that open none of which allow a selection for type of paper or quality.  It even warns you when ready to print that the quality is only 220 dpi.
With my photo on the screen and a Command P or selecting print from the PSE File Print Menu the screen has the following settings
    1. Select Printer          Epson Stylus Photo 2200
    2. Select Paper Size    Letter
    3. Select Print Size      8" x 10"
    x     Crop to fit
    Print 1 copies of each

Note again all suggestions received work just fine if in IPhoto Command P opens screen with a selection called presets and it allows selection for photographs and type of paper.
Again thank you all for your help and patience.

  • Dates on photos

How do I get the dates printed on my photos that I order from iPhoto? I have contacted the camera manufacturer (Casio) and they said "YOU WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE OR DOWNLOAD DIGITAL CAMERA, IMAGING OR EXIF READING SOFTWARE THAT CAN EXTRACT THIS INFORMATION."
Can anybody explain exactly what this means and how it works?
    Thanks.

Hi, janis153. Imprinting the date and/or time at which a photo was taken is normally a function of the camera being used, and occurs at the moment of taking, not when the pictures are printed. Some cameras offer that feature and others don't. From what Casio told you, it sounds as though yours doesn't.
Using photo editing software that allows typing text onto an image, you could manually add any desired textual information to your photos before printing, but adding the date to every one of them in that manner would be a very tedious business. Perhaps there is software that can extract the date from the metadata that the camera writes as part of every image file, and then automatically "stamp" that date into the image. If so, that would be much less tedious, but still an operation you'd have to intitiate yourself before sending photos out to be printed. And I don't know what software you'd do it with: I'm not aware that either Photoshop or GraphicConverter, the two most powerful image-handling applications I know, can do it. iPhoto 4 certainly can't.

  • My printer -photosmart plus B210a prints but the photos are very very dark HELP please

I have a Hp photosmart plus B210a just trying to print out some photos and they are very very dark The photos themselves are light and of a high Dpi any suggestions anyone ??? please they are of my son's wedding so are very important to me

What program are you printing from? What operating system? What are the printer settings for paper type and quality?
If you are printing from a program that allows selection of CMYK or RGB printing then select the RGB setting.  Even though the inks are CMYK the driver is expecting RGB data.
