Printing Differences btwn IDCS2 and PDF

IDCS2  and Acrobat 7.0 Professional - Vista Home Premium.
I am working on a book, with planned dimensions of 6 x 9. The text block is 4.5 x 7, with a 1/2 inch inner and a 1 inch outer margin. I save all files as both Indesign and as a pdf.
When I check the output of a given file, the Indesign file is faithfully followng the preset. However, I've noticed that sometimes the PDF text block is only 4.25 x 6 5/8. There doesn't seem to be any obvious pattern to the deviations, because other sections of the book print PDFs that do follow the preset dimensions.
I've looked at the settings on the PDF print dialog but don't see anything amiss. The preset dimensions haven't changed.
I need to straighten this out before I can send the final output to the printers.
Where have I gone astray?
Thanks,
Ed Bebee

Bob:
I've set the print dialog to print out the margins and text box guides. That is what I'm measuring. This does not seem to bother ID CS2, but the same file prints about 1/4 inch less width for the text box and about 1/2 inch for the height of the text box when printed with Acrobat.
I'll check the scaling setting, but don't recall setting it. I assume that it should be "off" or "zero" or whatever means that it isn't set.

  • Problem printing photos in Pagemaker and PDF

I publish a newsletter that contains lots of photos. I do layout in Pagemaker. The last issue when I printed out the document to proof it all the photos printed in solid bright blue, even the black & white photos. The same when I converted to PDF. However the file is fine. I burned it on a disk to take to my printer and he had no trouble. Photos print fine in preview and in photoshop. Old Pagemaker documents are also fine, just anything new or anything I make a change to and then save. My non-Mac son seems to think it could be a corrupted printer driver, but I'm nervous to download a new one for fear I won't be able to print anything.

Not sure what's causing this, but you'll get more exposure of your question in the Tiger printing forum at http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=756
    Suggest you repost there.

  • Difference btwn RMI and Network prog.

    Hello to all,
iam currently learning RMI and pls tell me what is the difference between RMI and Network Programming(using sockets....)
    Thanx in advance.

RMI sits on top of sockets and basically lets you send objects over the wire. Network programming is underneath and it handles all the transmission issues.

  • Difference Btwn Syncing and Manual?  (I know how)

Is there a difference between syncing and manually adding your music to your ipod? I mean, I know auto syncing does it automatically and manual you have to add the music in, but . . . does syncing do or add anything else to your ipod other than music? Or are they both the same, just the 'management' part of it is different? Thanks.

Hey thanks. For some reason I always thought that auto-syncing added alot more than just the music to the ipod. Don't know why I thought this. I'm ok w/ratings and playcounts not being added as I don't pay attention to this anyways.
Since we have a new computer and new itunes, we finally got out of the 'registration loop' we had been in and can now get to the summary page to actually manually manage things. Thanks again!

  • Why are there print differences between Reader and Acrobat Pro

I have a PDF file generated by InDesign (CS3). When I print the PDF from Reader (8.1.4) I get lighter text than when the same file is printed by Acrobat Pro (9.1.0). A close examination of the printed letters shows that the text printed from Reader is not solid black, while the text from Pro is solid black.
Is this typical or is there something I need to do to improve the printing from Reader?

I am a CADD Coord. (CADD Mgr)designer) I used to do a lot of design. Just recently we have noticed that anything printed from Adobe, the reader or the full version, is printing so lightly in many cases that it looks like it is missing data. whenever we create teh PDF from Autodesk products or Bluebeam Revue, it is the same. Bluebeam prints perfect. Yet the exact same file printed through Adobe is very, very light. Even printing as image it does this. And it appears at random. Some people print ok, but the exact same printer sent by someone else, using the same method, comes out too light in Adobe.
I have contacted Autodesk and they have punted it back. Anyone have any answers or clues to fix? i send out deliverables for clients all the time and I hate to find out they print and miss something of the design.

  • What is the difference btwn Reader and Acrobat Pro?

    Hello,
My Requirement in broader sense: I am developing an VISITOR Info. Adobe Interactive Form, i have Designer 8.1 and Reader 9.0 in my Windows 7 Laptop. When i checked the menu EDIT-->form properties --> Compatability, its Adobe XML form File (XDP)

My 1 sub-set of my Requirement: Front desk guy want to open this VISITOR Info form and enters addresss details + attaches some ID proof photo copy of JPEG format + Writes some COMMENTS in the form
    Pls. let me know
    1) is my software inventory is enough to go ahead and develop a interactive form (as mentioned VISITOR Info)? or do i need any more software?
    2) I saw Acrobat Pro version 10.x.......do i need this softaware as well to get my requirement done (VISITOR Info)?
    3) What is the difference between Reader 9.0 and Acrobat Pro 10.x?

  • Printing problems with Indesign and pdf

You need to provide an awful lot more information that what you have provided to us in order for us to assist you.
What version of InDesign? What OS? What PDF presets? What printer (brand and model) is it failing on? It the printer a direct PDF printer or are you printing to PostScript via Acrobat or even something else? What fonts won't print? Error messages? An example?

  • Printing: difference between PrinterJob and DocPrintJob

    Hi,
I'm having some trouble understanding the difference between a PrinterJob and a DocPrintJob, mostly about when I should use either, and how their print method operates.
The API Specification is short on description and the "Java Print Service API User Guide" doesn't offer much help either.
Any shining light in this obscure area would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    -ph

It's probably not a bug, but it's not a Pages problem. Printing is handled by the printer driver & each one, even for the same manufacturer often work differently. Check the documentation for your printer & the various options available in the print dialog.

  • Printing differences between LR and CS2

Today I downloaded a trial of LR. I've played with it all day and am fairly happy with its organizing capabilities. However, when I printed a file from LR on an Epson R2400, on Premium Luster paper the print is close to colorless.
When the exact same file is printed from CS2 on an Epson R2400 with the same paper - the print was perfect.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Katherine

Katherine, Are you using a paper specific icc profile picked by going to other under Print Job/Color Management/Profile: Other... in Print and choosing the correct profile. AS well are you turning off color management in the Print Driver, so there is no double management?
LR needs all the correct dotted i's and crossed t's and when done it matches PSCS with the same settings evertime. (though with some printers, Epsons, prints do seem a bit on the Dark side. this could be due to wrong Gama setting for Monitor Profile, it is reported. Us 2.2 for better results on a Mac.)

  • Printing differences between Aperture and PS

I have been using Aperture for almost two years, but I have never been happy with the results I get when making inkjet prints. I have custom built profiles, calibrated monitor, all goo d color management etc., however I get very different prints from the same files when print from Aperture that I do with Photoshop or Lightroom. Why would Aperture interpret the same profiles differently? And what rendering intent is it using? I built some new profiles yesterday with the XRite ColorMunki and the prints made with PS are an excellent match to the monitor. Some of the darker, more saturated blues in the Aperture printed image go bright purple. Aperture prints a bit lighter than the monitor as well. I am printing from the same saved Tif file that was processed in Aperture, and sending it directly to PS out of Aperture.
    Thanks
    Peter

Assuming your settings in the Aperture print dialog are what they should be - If you are not sure there are plenty of topics on that, the issue could be the following.
To make a long story short at some point the combination of Leopard, Aperture 2, Tiger printer drivers and printing preferences seem to cause really horrible Aperture printing issues. The only sane procedure I have used and recommend to make it right again are:
Delete all the printers from system preferences.
Make sure that you download and install the latest leopard printer drivers (again).
Trash all of your old Aperture preferences.
Put all of your correct preferences back in to the print dialog.
    Try again.

  • Difference btwn TPM and Mkting Campaign

    Hi Friends,
What is the difference between trade promotion and marketing campaign management.
    Thanks and regards,
    Mahesh

    Hi Mahesh,
Campaigns are the ways and mediums which helps in communication, increasing awareness, increase sales and wide range of activities. It can be done through mailing list, product promotions, telecalling etc. Meaning you are trying to reach your customers for increasing customer base, entering new markets or increasing sales or product awareness.
For ex: Product demos or stalls in an exhibition
Trade Promotion Management is an activity which is done with the help of your channel partners. The check here is "trade", which means distributors, retailers, wholesellers, re-sellers etc. The purpose remain the same like to increase customer base or sale revenues but here the incentives are given to your channel partner.
For ex; Commision to the wholesaler/distributor for selling 100 cartons for a particaular month.
    Please reward points if helpful.

  • What is the Difference btwn PORT and SOCKET

Hai, what is the diff. between Port and Socket and is Port related to Hardware?

Or another way, A socket is the connection you make, the port is the channel that the socket connected on.
A lot of ports are assigned to a certain use eg 80 = http. So when you try to access a web page, your browser tries to make a connection to the server on port 80, the server software will listen on port 80 on the server computer for htp request.
