Printing double side

Hi,
I have a problem printing from a network printer, the printer is Toshiba e-studio600-04423023. i wanted to print double side for my pdf file or any word document, but the option in "printing option->layout->two sided" was grey out , i am not able to click on it. The printer have the option of printing double side, as all my colleagues have no problem with it, i will greatly appreciate if any advice is given to me.Thanks

But i don't have the finishing menu (unlike window OS) under the print properties, the closest to "layout" is "paper handling" and i have checked but couldn't find the option to print double side.
Are you saying i need to enable the options on the printer itself ?? i believed the option is already enable unless have to set it specifically for mac user, cos the rest of the guy can able to print without the same prob.

I found this information on HP site, but the article was quite old. May still be relevant:
1. Create a multi page document, or something that is more than one page.
2. Go to File/Page Setup.
3. Ensure the printer is listed in the Format for menu.
4. Click OK.
5. Go to File/Print but do not print yet.
6. Change the Copies and Pages menu to 'Layout'.
7. The Two-Sided option will be selectable only if the P2015 is listed in the Printer menu at the top of the print dialogue box.
8. Once you have chosen Long-edged binding, for example, click Print.

How in the world do I print double side on Mac?

My 9999th problem using Mac. I use an Epson.

What printer model are you using? Does it support duplex printing? If it doesn't then you'll have to do it manually. There are numerous websites describing how:

Cannot enable option to print double sides

When given the printing options in Apple Pages before pressing "print," the option to print 2-sided is set as off and I cannot change the option to print 2-sides.
To be more exact, in Pages, I go to file-print-layout-and the two-sided option is grey and unclickable.
I had to manually print one side and print the other side seperately but I would rather do it all at once.

Do you see the option to perform manual duplexing but not being prompted to reload the printed sheets or may you do't see any such option anymore?
If you found the option but the device attention light bliks without showing any prompt on your Mac, reload the printed sheets faced down, then open and close the top cartridge access door to resume the 2nd side printing.

Unable to print double side using cannon D500 series

Im using OS Lion..I could'nt enable the double sided printing in my printer..any suggestions pls..

Depending on the application you are using you may need to press the Show Details button at the bottom of the print window to see the additional menus.
For example, if you are using Preview and select to print you may see a window like below.
If you press the Show Details button, as shown with a red box around it, you will then see a different view of the print dialog, as shown below.
And as shown above, if you click on the Preview menu you will see Finishing, provided you have the D500 set as the printer.
And with the Finishing menu selected you will see the ability to select 1-sided or 2-sided.

HP LaserJet 1200 in the network does not print in double-side mode

I have HP LaserJet 1200, connected via USB cable to the PC (Windows XP SP3). I have connected this printer via LAN to my PowerBook G4 - and from my PowerBook G4 i cannot use doube-side mode of printing! All sheets that leave the printers are printed on one side only - the "Duplex" setting by these clients is just ignored.
I check out the option "Doube-sided printing" ("Двусторонняя печать"), but this printer prints only on one side of paper, instead of two. I tried HP drivers 1.1 and 1.1.1 and even "CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.0 beta 4" drivers. The same problem...

Manual, not hardware!, double-side printing works as follows: press Option-P, checkbox on "Double side printing" ("Двусторонняя печать" in russian), OK. Printer prints odd pages on one side and then lights the LED. Further printer waits. Then we must reload (without any flipping!!!) these pages in main tray AND THEN WE MUST PRESS THIS GREEN LIGHTING LED on the printer! Furthermore, our great HP LaserJet 1200 will prints the other even-numbered pages!
It works very well in our LAN - from all XP/Vista PC's, when we print on this XP-connected HP LaserJet 1200 - everything is fine. But not from Mac.
But when we print from Mac on this XP-connected printer - double-side option is totally ignored. Printer just prints immediately all pages on one side without any pause, lighting LEDs, etc...

This is exactly what I am having issues with... but i dont know WHERE to adjust the documents offset. My document is printing where it is off like 1/16th of an inch or a little more vertically, and a little less than a 1/16th of an inch horizontally when you hold it up to the light.. I know it is possible to do it when it is a pdf, and that is what I am trying to do.. but I cannot seem to find WHERE to adjust it.

My iMac is networked to a brother printer with automatic duplexing capability. It will double-side documents from all sources except from Word. I can't find anywhere in Word to change the settings. Any advice?

Nothing in the pre-print dialogue boxes gives me the choice to double side. In the same place that I am given the choice to double-side when printing from other sources, Word only offers 'collated'. Any advice?

Mac Microsoft Word 2008 double side printing

Hi.
I recently purchased Macbook Pro 15, and installed Microsoft Office 2008.
I have a SamSung Express 282 series laser printer.
When I use my window pc or window labtop, it double-side prints all right.
But when I try to double-side print with Mac Pro Microsoft word 2008, it doesn't work.
From the Print menu, I go to 'printer feature' and click on 'reverse two-sided printing', but it keeps saying
"Changing the setting of Reverse Two-Sided Printing to On would cause a conflict that cannot be resolved. No change will be made,"
and does not let me click on it.
Does anyone know what's going on?
I really want to save some trees and do only double-sided printing, but it doesn't let me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Be sure to pick the OS X Lion 10.7 driver from the pulldown menu before selecting the driver category below it.
If that doesn't work, contact Canon. There are some Lion supporting double sided printers for sure.
Mind you,when manufacturers rely on the CUPS drivers as they did in this instance they may have
taken the easy way out, and that might avoid having the double sided printing.
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl899 may be able to patch those drivers to give you double sided printing if the Canon ones do not.
There are a few other open source alternatives*.
When double sided printing doesn't work, the trick is to rotate the pages upside down and feed face down switching odd and even page numbers.
Test with single sheets first, and then once you get the hang of it, do multiple.
I don't know where your printer feeds, so you'll have to try a couple times to figure out the correct direction.

Black ink only & double side printing

This is regarding a printing issue using my newly bought printer. I wish to print double sided using the option black ink cartrige only under grayscale printing. However, when I select double side printing, there were only 2 options under the grey scale printing (off which means color or high quality). Is there a way to select both double side and black ink cartrige? Furthermore, does grayscale printing using high quality option uses ink from the black ink cartrige or also from the color cartriges? thanks in advance

What printer model? What operating system?
Generally there are two options for grayscale printing, either "use black cartridge only" or not. If the "use black cartridge only" box is not checked color ink will be used as it provides better print quality.
Some printers and some drivers do not support "black cartridge only" when printing in duplex mode. In duplex printing a small amount of color ink may be used to underprint the black print to make it dry faster to prevent smearing in duplex printing. (Not intuitive, but it is correct....)
See here for some information on how ink is used. Some ink will be used for servicing even when printing with black ink only.

Double Side printing in Lion?

Ever since I upgraded to Lion I've noticed that I cannot double side print in Reader. Other apps are set to double side print without issues, but I can't get Reader to DSP. I have Adobe Reader X (10.1.0), Mac OS 10.7.1 and a Lexmark Prevail Pro705. I've even gone to the Lexmark site and updated my driver. Any thoughts? I checked the sticky on the Forum Homepage about Lion compatability, but I was unsure how to translate the work around to my situation.

I ran into the same issue - Adobe Reader does not print double sided on my Lexmark Genesis S815. Did you find a solution in the meantime?

Double side printing from SAPScript, last page missing

Hello all,
I try to setup double side printing from SAPScript, but have a problem and hope that somebody might help me.
In my form I have two pages with main window (FIRST and NEXT) which have print mode set to 'D' and next page set to 'TANDC'. Page 'TANDC' has only one VAR window which contains terms and conditions text.
Now, everything works fine except that T&C text isn't printed after last page (ie. after last 'NEXT' page). Is there a way to force printing of last (back side) page?
PS: Calling 'WRITE_FORM' from the print program at the end didn't help either.

this has a same effect as calling NEW-PAGE from form.
Again, window 'FOOTER' is printed on a new page instead bellow 'MAIN' window and there are no T&C on the last sheet. I also tried to explicitly call text element in window 'FOOTER' before calling 'CONTROL_FORM', like this:
CALL FUNCTION 'WRITE_FORM' "last element in 'MAIN' window
       EXPORTING
            element = 'LAST'
       EXCEPTIONS
            OTHERS = 01.
CLEAR sy-subrc.
CALL FUNCTION 'WRITE_FORM'
       EXPORTING

It looks like the 'FOOTER' window is under control of SAPScript, not of print program.
Note: 'CONTROL_FORM' call is placed immediatelly before 'CLOSE_FORM', so at the last possible place.

Anybody here have try the double-side printing?

It doesn't work when I try to do the double-side printing. And in the schedule info, it is Single-side --!!. Of course our printer support the double-side printing.So,any idea about this?
And I add the filter to transform the pdf to ps,is this the possible reason that the tray selection and double-side printing do not work?

To print on both sides (Duplex Mode), you have to
1.Have a Postscript ready printer.
2.Install Pasta
3.Install and Setup third party software like xpdf or Ghostscript to convert the PDF to PS file
4.Setup Printer Style and Pasta Config file
a.Define custom print style like 'Duplex PDF Publisher'
b. Assign this print style to Printer Type with with standard PASTA driver 'PASTA_PDF'
c.Then query printer driver 'PASTA_PDF' and on the arguments field, enter following -pn$PROFILES$.PRINTER -f$PROFILES$.FILENAME -c$PROFILES$.CONC_COPIES -Fpasta_pdf.cfg
d. Verify that the file $FND_TOP/resource/pasta_pdf.cfg is present and that it contains only one "uncommented" entry corresponding to the installed third party tool, as follows:
preprocess=pdftops -duplex {infile} {outfile}
pdf2ps (Ghostscript) by itself does not support the duplex option. You will need to use XPDF software (pdftops).

Double side print

I can't double side print because the pdf size is always changing & my printer only will do the double side print if the document is standard size 8x11. How can I change the size of my adobe so it defaults to the required 8x11?

That is specified when the document is created.
But in your case, can't you get it to print when changing Page Size & Handling, e.g. Fit, or Shrink oversized pages?
