Printing Entire workbook problem

Discoverer version 10.1.2.48.18
When printing an entire workbook the printout is not consistant at all. There's a looping of a grouped item and the grand total does not print out at all. The reports look great in print preview but the printout is completely off. We first thought it was the printer driver issue but after testing on many printers both network and local printers the same problem occurred.
Although it's not consistant in accuracy it's usually inaccurate on all printers. Please help us figure this out.

I just don't see the problem but I'd suggest you repost to the Discoverer forum

as the traffic there is much higher on Disco issues. Hope it'll help get you as resolution as someone's come against it before in your version.

Printing entire workbooks in Excel on Macs

We just purchased Acrobat 7 for our office thinking that it finally had the ability to print all the worksheets in an excel workbook. Unfortunately it seems this feature is not supported by 7 :-(

I just "acquired" a copy of Excel 2004 to replace the Test Drive version I have been using for several months. [And, yes, you can trick it into giving you another 30 days.] The Test Drive's main 'Crippling' is that it won't print, so I was using a work around (described below). Now that I had an un-crippled install I was looking forward to printing to PDF a full workbook of a mere 3 sheets and encountered the same "Prints all sheets over each other leaving only the last" problem as y'all have been having. I though, "Surely not even Micro$oft could put out a piece of software that has such a STUPID bug!" But after seeing this problem noted in other boards as well, I learned that I need to lower my expectation of M$ even further, if that is possible. The work around I have been using (and looks like I'll continue to use) is to open the file in NeoOffice <www.neooffice.org> which is itself an 'Aquified' version of OpenOffice. Once open, you can print the file and use the PDF button in the print dialog, or better yet, I use the built-in 'Export as PDF...' and it will not only save all the sheets to PDF but will make an index to the start of each sheet. Now you are asking why I'm not using NeoOffice instead of Excel. I is because the spreadsheet I'm using was developed on Excel and has a bunch if VB in it that the NeoOffice developers are working on, but it doesn't yet supports. Again, there is no problem from Micro$oft that Open Source Software can't fix. Hope this helps.

Print to pdf in excel does not print full workbook

I have 18 separate sheets in one workbook. I need to print all of the sheets into one pdf.
When I go to "Print" and "Save to PDF", the resulting PDF only includes the last 15 sheets of the full workbook.
I always select "Entire Workbook", or make the range from Page 1-18, but it will still only save the last 15 pages every time.
Are there other settings I need to change? Ideas anybody?

Hi, I never use Ms Apps, but I think I remember something about Page Breaks in Word/Excel causing PDF problems... does quite explain the 1st three missing thoigh... unless it's maybe over writing them?
Can You Print to PDF a single page #1 & such, then combine the 3 indivual ones with the 15 page one in Preview?

HP Photosmart C6380 won't print entire page

My HP Photosmart C6380 won't print entire pages. Some lines near to the end of the page aren't printed. Once in a while it prints the entire page.

PDF printer has a problem with Safari in "Reader" mode in Windows7

As shown in the image above. When I try to use the PDF printer to print out a web page in Safari "Reader" mode, the lines near the bottom of each page get squeezed like this. There is no problem with XPS printer. I guess this problem is because of some incorrect settings in Safari or the PDF printer?
My system is Windows 7 Pro. I am using Acrobat X Pro. The page I am trying to print is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_band_structure. This problem only happens when the webpage is adjusted into "Reader" mode in Safari.

I am sorry, I did not make my question clear. I would like to save some web pages only in "Reader" mode, because in this mode all the advertisements are filtered out and the pages look much nicer than the origional layout.
I first let Safari to active "Reader" by clicking "Reader" button.
Then I click "Print" button and select Adobe PDF as the printer.
The problem is the PDF file has something wrong (shown above), and I would like to know how to avoid this problem.

Let me give you a slightly different perspective than everyone else here. You are using an unsecured wireless network, which means that all your network traffic is easily available for viewing by anyone else using that network. That's bad. Very bad, for you, unless you absolutely trust everyone who lives within range of this network. So stop doing it.
As to the Mac not connecting, wireless networking is simply too complex for any reasonable answer without more information. There are many possible error points, and as often as not it's the Mac that can connect and the Windows PC that cannot. Since you can't give us any information about the configuration of the neighbor's network, and can't make any changes to it, we can't do much to help you troubleshoot it.

When I tried to print I had problems.

I got a new Macbook pro yesterday. Brilliant!
I used Time machine to transfer everything. I'm getting used to most things but
when I try to print I had problems.
I downloaded new driver but still no go.

Print Empty Workbook

I have an unusual question...
I would like to be able to print a workbook that returns no data. The reason I need to do this is for documentation purposes. We have several workbooks that check for various exceptions and if everything is right, the workbook will return no data. To be able to document that no "errors" were found, my users will want to print the workbook showing the parameters used to produce no results. If I try to print from Discoverer Plus, I get a message that says "Operation failed. No data can be printed as there are no rows in this report"
Anyone have any ideas on how I could trick it or change a setting to allow it?

Do you happen to know if I can do a union all with 2 folders rather than tables/views? The reason, is I don't want to have to re-create the folder that already exists in my Business Area...
As it is, I guess I'm going to have to re-create all the workbooks I have that are based on the folder.

Print Entire Website via a Button (k)

We just received a strange request from a client. They want a
button on
their website that when the user hits it, will print every
page in the
website.
The only way I could see accomplishing this is to make pdfs
of the
individual pages and then combine them into one big honking
PDF that the
user prints.
Is there such a thing as a "Print Entire Website" command? I
know that
there are apps that print a whole website, but we want
something that
the web user can just click.

Print Color Management Problem ?

I have a print color management problem I cannot solve. It reminds me of the print color management problem I had over a year ago when the compatibility conflict between LR and MAC Leopard produced horrible prints. I have Snow Leopard now and been out of the country for some months and yesterday when I tried to make some prints the same problem reemerged. So I downloaded current drivers (and ICCsfor Premium Luster) from Epson and LR 2.6 and spent a good part of the day with Martin Evening's book. I followed (I think) his instructions to make the basic print step by step but the prints still were terrible. My problem is with the color management pop up in the print settings dialog -- it says "color matching" not color management and I cannot check either "no color management " if I want LR to control the process (Kelby) or check "color sync" if I want my Epson R800 take over. I have no idea where the "color management" pop up went. I'm clueless as usual and probably omitting a step because of frustration or brain numbness. Any help would be appreciated. WJS

The settings in Lightroom are simple. and contain in the Print Job panel in the Print module. You either select manage in printer (and then select the profile in the printer drivers) or select the profile here and then turn of all colour management in the printer drivers. The second option will usually produce the best results. What you don't want is to have the profile selected in both LR and the printer drivers, so if the driver doesn't have an option to turn of colour management then you may be forced down the first route. However it would be an unusual decision for a printer manufacturer to make drivers that can't turn off colour management, so you may wish to ask how to do it to your printer manufacturer or check the printers handbook.

How to default Preview/Finder to print "Scale to Fit Print Entire image/Fill Entire Paper"?

I have to print PDFs. Preview or printing directly from Finder prints scaling 100% and many many times the edges of the PDFs are left outside of the printing area. I have the correct paper size selected (A4) and actually the PDFs are also A4 but for some reason 100% zooms in a bit and cuts the sides of the print outside.
I can of course fix this by selecting Scale to Fit and Print Entire Image but I do have to do this every single time I open a PDF. I want to make this option my default! And preferrably so that I can use CMD+P from Finder to print directly without having to open the PDF. I already know what is in it...
I have tried different Terminal tricks I have found searching the web but no luck, this and others with Preview closed before executing the command

Please help and make my life easier. Cannot be this hard.

I got a work around for this. Instead of using RTF template, I used Microsoft Excel itself as template and did the formatting in excel.

I used to print photos in my HP psc 2210 printer without any problem including the 8X11 enlarged photos, but now it gets caught at the end of the printing resulting in shortened images. Does it have to do with the thickness of the photo paper? It was able to do it before. Are there any adjustments to be made?

It looks like you've tried some of the troubleshooting steps listed in this document, but there are a few more to try first. Click on the + besides the XP section and follow the steps in order. See if this helps, if it doesn't I'll look for some more.
