Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem

I've seen this before when placing some of the blizzard of pdfs of all kinds that land in my inbox into Indesign. I can't remember if I ever solved it, but one work-around has been to place the pdf, then export as pdf, place that into a new document.
It's not working this time though. The pdf in question was created in Indesign CS2 (4.0.5) in Windows, the Windows fonts are all embedded, I'm using CS2 Mac. Everything else prints fine to a variety of output devices.
Can anyone shed any light, is there more information I can provide?
It prints from Acrobat, which is what I'm doing, but not when placed into ID.

Possible solutions include a bunch that I can't try, such as issues with fonts or colour spaces, as it's a supplied pdf. Given the resolution of exported jpegs, exporting as such won't do. I suppose I could try converting to eps via Photoshop.
This is weird one:

Umm, if I was printing only an odd page, I wouldn't get very far printing even pages only, now would I?
If I ever get to work through the snow, I'm going to look at this one first:

It doesn't mean much to me, but it might be a plan. As I said, for this document it doesn't really matter, I can print from Acrobat, but if a placed pdf is only part of a document I could be in trouble.
It's weird, one problem, all kinds of possible causes. If I'm being a pest, someone please say, otherwise I'll report back on which solution/workaround succeeds.

Anyone else had this or have any thoughts?

I am seeing this error too, but I've narrowed it down to an isolated set of circumstances. My client has begun rolling out Active Directory integration with Macs on their network. Here are the specifics:
-- Mac OS X 10.5.4, IDCS3 5.0.3
-- Using the Directory Utility, Macs are bound to AD with using the mobile account option (user folder is cached locally on workstation, hosted on the network)
-- The message immediately pops up after clicking 'Print' button in print dialogue.
-- Printers are a couple of different versions of DocuColor (250 and 260) with Fiery RIP front ends. Print queues are hosted on an AD print server and listed as Open Directory under Kind in the Add Printer dialogue.
-- Only IDCS and ILCS3 (13.02) exhibit this problem. PSCS3 (10.01), Acrobat (8.1.2) and Safari do not have the same issue, so it appears to be Postscript related
-- Printers not going through AD (IP or BonJour enabled HP B&W lasers) print successfully when logged in via the networked user. Logging into a local admin account resolves the problem as well.
-- This issue appears on freshly imaged machines, G5s and MacBook Pros, not just an isolated workstation. So its possible there is a problem with the source image, but it was created by another office and I'm just a consultant onsite at another location trying to sort things out. Other workstations still using Thursby's Dave software for file and printer access, running 10.4.11 do not exhibit same issues.

I have created a keychain entry to match this with no success.
-- None the suggestions in linked KB doc. resolve the issue. But that doc seems to be outdated as it references CS 1 and 2 versions of ID.
So, has anyone seen the same issues? AD integration appears to be the common thread, but I cannot find the cause.

Did you change the internal naming/IDs when you created your varient? If not, try removing the version you began with. Paths all closed, etc?
Ian's application works fine but I don't use the light version--isn't there some limitation with it?

Adobe print engine failed to output your data due to an unknown problem using modified font

I have a document I created in InDesign CS5.5 with no issues. One of the fonts had a some issues with how the letters looked, so I modified the font (True Type) with a font editor. The documet on screen looks fine and passes preflight with no issues, but when I try to print it to any printer or PDF (Adobe PDF or Winpdf wirter) I get the error: adobe print engine failed to output your data due to an unknown problem. I also tried to create a document in MS Word with the same modified font and had no issues printing. Can anyone check into the issue with InDesign with this font if I send it to you? I also did try to create a new document in InDesign with just some text using the modified font and it will not print that one either.

Why is Flash now so unstable in Firefox? The Flash has crashed indicator is now a familiar visitor (it generally goes when I refresh the page so it's not hugely fatal!) But . . . I'd start with disabling Hardware Acceleration, as described in the video troubleshooting guide below:
Video playback issues
If that solves the problem, make sure that your graphics drivers are current.
If it *still* happens with current drivers, please give us detailed information on the graphics card and driver, so that we can disable hardware acceleration on this configuration and start a conversation with the appropriate vendor.
The best way to get this information is to do the following (on Windows):
Open a command prompt
Type: dxdiag
Hit Enter
This should launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
Click Save All Information (or whatever that save button says).
Paste the contents into a reply here, or you can click Use Advanced Editor in the upper right of the reply window, and then attach the file using the link at the bottom right of the reply window.

The .html file plays in Firefox, but the url link does not work. I'm on Mac 10.6.8.
html plays fine in Test Movie/ Flash Pro CS6.
All software is up-to-date including Flash Player just downloaded.

I'm getting the error "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed" whenever I try and watch livestreams on Justin.tv, although any other content that requires flash works fine.

I've tried uninstalling flash and firefox separately and neither helped.

To avoid this error, the RetainSameConnection property should set to 'True' for the Connection Manager - Application_DB.

Issue With Business Objects Installation-STW00213 The Central Management Server has failed to start.

Hi,
I am in the process of installing Business Objects XI 3.1 in one of our server. While installing I am getting the error 'The Central Management Server has failed to start. Press 'retry' to attempt to start it again or 'cancel' to skip any actions dependendent on the Central Management Server. STW00213.'
I have tried re-installing the BO, and also tried installing without giving admin password. But it doesn't work. And also I ahve tried giving the passwords of database and CMS Admin without Sepcia Characters. But it also doesn't work.
If I cancel and install the BO, Server Intelligence Agent is not available in Central Management Server.
Could anyone help on this issue?

Hi Prakadesh,
Try these steps.
1. Stop and disable the service of current SIA. You can do it from start-->run services.msc. Double click the SIA service and change the status to disable.
2. Login into sqlplus and drop all the CMS tables.
3. Create a new SIA pointing to Oracle from the CCM.
4. Start the new SIA and check if all services come up and you are able to login into Manager servers.
If this does not work, check the event viewer for error messages.

I can't load any flash content within Firefox. I instantly get the following error: "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. Reload the page to try again.".
So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, restarted my computer, and disabled hardware acceleration all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so scratch my last response. Disabling hardware acceleration through Firefox (orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available" ) did not work however step 3B did. Following your link, right clicking on the Flash logo and disabling hardware acceleration there has fixed my issue.
