Printing error with odd/even pages

Apologies if this is the wrong group, I looked for a more
appropriate one
but there doesn't seem to be one on this server. If there's a
better place
to ask this question, please let me know.
Anyhow, I'm using Acrobat Reader, latest version (I updated
off the Adobe
site after first noticing the error just to be sure), and I'm
having a
couple of serious bugs when it comes to printing odd-only or
even-only pages
of a multi-page document. (I don't have one of those snazzy
re-feeder
printers that can do both sides, so if I want to print
double-sided I have
to do first one then the other.) At any rate, the problems
are thus: on a
document which has an odd number of pages, if I tell it to
print all
odd-numbered pages, it will invariably skip the first page.
This one's not
that serious, as I can just manually print page 1 after the
fact. The
really annoying problem occurs when I try to print the
even-numbered pages.
What happens in this case is it prints the first page (i.e.
Page 2) *twice*.
Once on the back of page 1 and again on the back of page 3.
Needless to
say, I now have to throw one of them out and redo it. (I've
taken to
printing the even-pages first now, so I can use the backside
of that extra
page 2 for scrap paper, whereas previously the extra sheet
was basically
useless as it was printed on both sides.) The bug does not
seem to occur
with documents that have an even number of pages. Only those
with an odd
number. Doesn't matter if I choose back-to-front or
front-to-back. Doesn't
matter what printer I use, I've tried 3 different ones (and
made sure I had
the latest drivers for each) and it happens in every case.
I'm guessing
that there's some confusion in the software as to the number
of pages it's
supposed to print. If a document has an odd number of pages,
there's one
more odd-numbered page than there are even-numbered pages,
and it's getting
it backwards, printing one more even-numbered page and one
less odd-numbered
page. Anyhow, it's really annoying, and a waste of paper and
ink as well.
Any ideas how to avoid this? (Seriously considering editing
the documents
and adding one blank page to the end of every document with
an odd number,
though it seems like that shouldn't be necessary...)

  • Odd/Even pages with data from two tables

    Hi Forum,
Can you please extend help/suggest with the following scenario:
I have two data tables and one table records needs to be printed on odd pages (Front page) and the other table records need to be printed on even pages (Back page). I need alternating front and back pages based on data records in the tables. Also second table will be having lesser records when compared with first table.
I'm able to get the alternating Odd/Even master pages. But the first table is being printed in both the odd/even pages first and then the second table is being printed in both the odd/even pages. How can I restrict the printing of the first table on odd page and second table on even page?
    Thanks for your help/suggestions.

You can play with pagination tab in your LCD tab, but I have never learnt enough to be able to use it effectively.
If I were in your shoes, I would alter the DDIC structures in the backend so you will only display it in the form, without any suicidal actions through the pagination, scripting or similar stuff.
How: If you need to alter pages, you can do that in your backend, right?
Like you can have a structure page with attributes:
    - up/ front: data for the front page
    - down/back: data for the back page
and you will alter the data in the table with this structure as a line in your ABAP program and will use to form to display the trnaformated data only.
Well... I don´t tell it is clear/right/ proper solution and cannot tell if there are any obstacles which will not let you use this scenario in your case, but you could consider this as an option...

  • Bates numbering odd even pages on right left sides of page

with acrobat 9 pro is there a way to bates number files with numbers on the right side of the page with
odd numbered pages and on the left side of the page for even numbered pages. when printed and bound into a book would like to have the bates on the outer edge of the pages.

Thanks for the link. The following are a couple of quotes pulled from it:
    > The rules governing the use of zero appeared for the first time in Brahmagupta's book Brahmasputha Siddhanta, [19] written in 628.
    > The Indian numeral system (base 10) reached Europe in the 11th century, via the Iberian Peninsula through Spanish Muslims the Moors, together with knowledge of astronomy and instruments like the astrolabe, first imported by Gerbert of Aurillac. For this reason, the numerals came to be known in Europe as "Arabic numerals". The Italian mathematician Fibonacci or Leonardo of Pisa was instrumental in bringing the system into European mathematics in 1202
I have read several articles and a book (The nothing that is, by Robart Kaplan) on the subject right around the turn of the millenium. I was flabbergasted by the arguments of those that wanted to jump start it a year early.
In the book was a humourous quote of a 14th century European mathematician trying to explain what a zero was exactly and how it was used in simple arithmetic. It seems so obvious to us now that people have a hard time accepting that it wasn't always there.

    Jia Shun,
I had the same issue for printing A/R Invoices - I created a Crystal Report based on a SQL View, works fine with A/R Invoice document, but the Draft Invoice printing has 3 pages: 1st page blank, 2nd page with watermark "DRAFT", 3rd page my Crystal Report layout without any data. When printing normally it is only 1 page.
Here is what I did as a work around:
Create two SQL Views, one select from OINV (joining INV1 and other tables needed), the other select from ODRF (joining DRF1 and other tables needed), for the draft printing.
Create two identicle Crystal Reports, only difference are: datasource location (from different views), the "draft" crystal report has a watermark section.
Go to Administration>System Initialization>Print Preferences and uncheck "Print draft watermark..."
Import both crystal reports. Invoice can be printed normally. But the Draft Invoice has more steps: Open Draft document report, change settings so it shows the DocEntry in the Draft Table. Select and open the desired document, hit Print Preview, and enter the DocEntry, it displays the layout with data and "DRAFT" watermark.
This is a workaround. I don't like it because it is not scalable - too much workload if you want to print 100 invoices.
Hopefully someone will provide a better solution.

  • Print odd even pages of book

I am printing books using Aperture.  The only way I have found to do this is:
    1. Create Book/Album
    2. Duplicate the Book twice (name one: Odd, name other:Even)
    3. for Even Copy, delete all content of odd pages (pretty easy to do).
    4. For Odd Copy, delete all content of even pages (leave the pages just make them blank).
    5. Print Even copy (Blank pages will not be printed - amazingly)
    6. Reload Even copy then print Odd copy
Has anyone found an easier way to do this?
    Nancy

Hmm, are you sure? Here's a screenshot for an Epson 3880, but would they really have taken away this feature on a later model?
If it is the case that your printer does not have this feature, then hmmm. I guess you'd have to do it the way you are doing it.
Maybe someone else has an easier workflow.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 300 color MFP runs cleaning and Mis Prints Error with Printing above 5 pages

I have an HP Pro 300 Printer with New genuine cartridges. But when I print or make copies of multi page jobs it always comes up with a message on the screen which says "cleaning"  and then give a "Mis Printer Error".The printer is out of warranty. The Print quality is excellent but the error it gives all the time is a major problem. Has anyone solution for this? Please help! Thanks

Restoring the defaults doesnt usually purge out the memory of a printer.  You need a cold reset to complete that proceedure. Cold Reset steps:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/HP-LaserJet-Pro-200-color-MFP-M276nw-Cold-reset/td-p/5060955 The video at the bottom of the first page is very helpful.

  • Officejet G85xi printer errors with Windows office 8

I recently purchased a new PC with Windows 8.  I downloaded the most current drivers for my Officejet G85xi.  Each time  I try to print I get one or two good pages and then the printer stops and an error pops up in the control menu.

I used the G85xi without issues (other than paper supply out) using Window XP on older PC.  The printer has not worked properly since it has been connected to HP Envy 700-074 running Windows 8.1.  When I am lucky I get 2 full pages of print before "print error" appears.  I have tried Printer Doctor, deleting the printer and re-adding it, set higher priority, checking USB 2.0 port connetion, etc.  It usually will finish a text document not much more than a single page, but PDF documents are very limited.  I have spent hours trying to print one 9-page PDF document.  Should I ditch what was a wonderful printer?  Should I ditch a new HP PC with Windows 8.1?   Even if I buy a new printer, can I trust it will not stop printing on page 2 or 3 in the middle of the page?

  • Different Odd Even page body

    Hi,
I have a requirement where the body of the report is different for odd and even pages.
I am able to get the requirement done with XSL-FO, but I need it with Microsoft Word Template.
Can any one please suggest on this.
    Regards,
    G V Ranjith

From what I understand you want to print data on one page and then the terms on the next page?
And you have no idea when the page goes from one to the next?
My first suggestion would be to print the report as you normally would and then turn the paper around and print the T&C
on the back of every page, although I understand that this is obviously not what you want.
Their printer has the feature to print on both sides or do they have to physically turn the report around and put it back into the printer?
Not sure how you would be able to find the difference unless you can somehow count the lines per page and then put in a page break
after a certain amount. According to your needs you would also need to place different header on the first page than the rest of the report.
How far have you got so far? If you want you can email me a copy and I can try play around with it:

  • How can I fix this printer error with Samsung SCX-4300 and SCX-4521f on Windows Server 2008 R2?

I have two printers installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit):
    1. Samsung SCX-4521f
    2. Samsung SCX-4300
There are two computers (Windows 7 Professional, 32-Bit) connected to this server that utilise these shared printers.
The drivers installed are as follows:
    SCX-4x21_Win7_Print.exe (Win 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Win 7    3.04.96:03    Print Driver    11 Dec, 2009    12.37    MULTI LANGUAGE)
    SCX-4300_Print.exe (Win 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Win 7(32,64bit) 3.04.95:07 Print Driver Jan 19, 2011 53.07 MULTI LANGUAGE)
After printing documents for some time (within a 24 period) the printers no longer respond to print requests.
On the server opening "Control Panel\Hardware\Devices and Printers" shows the two printers with yellow exclamation marks.
The "SCX-4x21" printer shows the "Status" as "Needs troubleshooting" and "Printer: Error".
The "SCX-4300" printer shows the "Status" as "Needs troubleshooting".
Neither will print a test page.
Searching for new drivers automatically returns saying: "The best driver software for your device is already installed".
The error persists and nothing will print.
When double-clicking on the "SCX-4x21" printer (or going to "Control Panel\Hardware\Devices and Printers\Samsung SCX-4x21 Series") you see the following:
"Printer: Error" and "N document(s) in queue".
Clicking on either of these brings up the print queue and shows a document with the status of "Error - Printing".
As each job with an error is cancelled the next one attempts to print and also displays an error like the last.
Once all the jobs are cleared the printer information says "Printer: Ready".
Sending a "Print Test Page" sends the printer into an error state saying "Printer: Error".
With the "SCX-4300", sending a "Print Test Page" displays a bubble saying: "Toner Empty: Replace Toner".
However, I can't see any specific error messages.
How do I find out what exactly "Needs troubleshooting"?
    Please can anyone advise further?

The printer (SCX-4300) has stopped again.
Since it has been stopped I have done your recommendations:
Unticked the "Enable bidirectional support" option under the "Ports" tab in the printer properties.
Set the "Interactive Services Detection" to Automatic and started it.
Unfortunately the printer did not start printing, the print jobs did not restart or delete.
I decided to check the Operational logs that we enabled.
The first job I see goes like this:
    Information: Rendering job 41.
Error: The print spooler failed to delete the file C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\00041.SHD, error code 0x2. See the event user data for context information.
Information: The print job 41 was sent through the print processor SSE1MPC on printer Samsung SCX-4300 Series, driver Samsung SCX-4300 Series, in the isolation mode 1 (0 - loaded in the spooler, 1 - loaded in shared sandbox, 2 - loaded in isolated
sandbox). Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 0x0.
    Information:Printing job 41.
    Information:Spooling job 41.
    This job actually printed.
Other jobs printed fine with no error.
There are no other errors in the "Operational" log other than the "print spooler failed to delete" error.
Any ideas what to try now?
Update: Unticking the "Enable bidirectional support", clearing the print queue and then trying again seems to have fixed the problem for now.

  • Forcing pages to start from odd/even pages

    Hi,
I have a book with this kind of documents in it:
    1) Cover, starting on an odd page.
    2) 2nd of Cover, starting on an even page.
    3) TOC, starting from an odd page.
    4) Main content, starting from an odd page.
InDesign CS5 lets me define a general setting with Book panel > Book Page Starting Option. However, I don't see any setting to let me force each document/chapter to start from an odd or even page. Is there something like this somewhere?
Without this kind of control, I must choose Continue on the next page as a general rule, with the risk of having some chapters start on the wrong page.
    Paolo

Peter, I think this is the correct solution. Very easy to do, since the first paragraph of a page that must start on a particular side is usually a "special" paragraph (chapter title, legals, TOC, and so on).
In case the page begins with an illustration, I can try with a hidden paragraph, or a paragraph containing text of the same color of the page.
This is, however, something that InDesign could learn from FrameMaker, whose book documents can start each one from a separate side.

  • How to rotate odd/even pages in opposite directions?

I have a number of pdf documents with more than 1,500 pages. The left pages are rotated 90 degrees left and the right pages are rotated 90 degrees right. Using the Acrobat view and rotate feature, all pages within the document rotate. This makes 'the odd pages 'upright' but the even pages are then 'upside down'.
What is an efficient method to rotate all these pages to an "upright" position that reads 'normally'?
My goal is to covert these into searchable pdf documents using Acrobat Pro XI.

FOLLOWUP: Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully these answers will also help others in the future who face the same dilemma. I had 'jumped the gun' in the respect that I was new to Acrobat and had not discovered the Tools > Pages > Rotate method within the program. That worked perfect on another document that needed to have pages rotated in bulk. Also, I will now investigate the 'coded' method to learn a little more about the capabilities within Acrobat. Thanks again!

  • Strange Printing Issue With New HP & Pages

    Hello!
I have a very strange printing issue with a new HP printer. I have written pages documents heavy in Texts which are located within tables. The documents print fine on a Cannon and Epson printer and look great but when I print the document on my new HP Laserjet Pro 400 Colour M451nw some of the text on some rows come out of the printer looking like they are bold / slightly fuzzy. This only happens with some of the rows of text, not all of them. The font is the same in every row with the same format.
You can see this in the attached image. The first line (Thanks very much) has printed correctly but the subsequent lines look bold / slightly fuzzy.
After a lot of testing the only way I can resolve this is if I copy the content into a new pages document and only then it will print and look ok with the HP printer.
This must be a problem within my origional document. I would simply copy and paste everything into a new document however this would take a very, very long time (over 5 years of work producing teaching materials and over 100 documents and thousands of tables and formatting that cannot be copied and pasted).
Also, on other printers you can see the lines seperating each row of the table. These lines are not visible on the HP print outs, even when the table is copied into a new document.
Has anyone come accross an issue like this before? Is there a way I can fix this without creating a new document? Do I need to get a new another new printer (the 4th printer this week!)?
Any advise, wise words would be greatly apprechiated!
    Thanks!

Sorry, Fruhulda. After 4 hours on the phone with Apple care they are taking this issue further themselves. It seems to be a problem with our pages document and the compatibility with certain drivers. We have still not gotton to the bottom of it and Apple are going to get back to me when they have an answer.
We also worked out that the issue only happens when you print via Ethrenet & USB. Printing via Wifi is ok and there are no quality issues.
    Very Strange!

  • Printer Error with all iWork products

Hi. I don't have a printer attached tot eh computer but I want to save a document as a PDF. I can do this in all applications other than iWork applications. printer Error comes up. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

    It seems a bit odd.
I'm able to do that on the iMac intel inside which I uses for trsts.
I never connected a printer to this beast and the Print to PDF feature works perfecly (I didn't try the export to PDF entry).
Sounds as a corrupted file somewhere.
    You may try to trash:

  • Printer error with InDesign CS4

I have the Adobe Master Collection installed on Windows 7 64bit (Pruchased through MS Volume License).  Before installing windows 7, the system had Windows Vista Business 64-bit installed and had the same problem, so it is not OS related.  Connected directly to the computer via USB cable is an HP Design Jet 130.  All programs are able to print to it without any problems including Photoshop (64bit), Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator (32bit), Excel, Word, etc.  However, when trying to print a document from InDesign, I get the following error:
print driver host for 32bit applications has stopped working
After click ok, the printer selection box comes up, with the post script printer selected.  When you go and try and change the printer to ANY other printer including the DJ130, I get the following error:
Printer selection failed.  Restoring the previous selection.
I am still able to print documents from InDesign by saving them as a PDF and then opening them and printing them with Adobe Acrobat Pro, however, I should not have to do this, and this can become very time consuming.  The printer is also shared on the network with two other computers and they have no problem printing to it from InDesign.  Before I installed Windows 7, I completely un-installed the Master Collection.  After Win7 was installed, I re-installed the Master Collection, and I was able to print perfectly from Adobe InDesign.  It seems that one of the updates breaks it's printing capabilities with this printer, or at least on this system.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, or are there any other things that I can try to resolve this?  I have 8GB of RAM in the system and don't really see switching to a 32 bit OS to be an option as I would loose the ability to use 1/2 of my memory.

I am having the exact same problem. I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and Design Premium CS 5.5.  InDesign is the ONLY program that will not print to any printer. I get the "Printer selection failed." error every time I select any printer, even the Adobe PDF one. I have a Brother printer, an HP Plotter, and even an Oce copier/printer.  InDesign gives the error no matter what printer is selected form its own list.  Photoshop and Acrobat do not give me any issues, nor does any of the MS Office programs nor Autodesk softwares.  It's only InDesign that fails.  Reparing doesn't do anything and reinstalling every printer driver is pointless because it's only InDesign that produces the error.
Does anyone know what to do to fix this?
