Printing Errors from Illustrator CC

I have been having intermitent firmware Error (900.43) on my new Lexmark MS510DN when printing from Illustrator CC. I have upgraded to the most recent version of the firmware and drivers for this printer. Also had this problem with a T642 lexmark printer. when this happens I can save and then open in Acrobat and will print but it I open in Illustrator the affect file will error out again. Called Lexmark and they checked printer settings and could not find anything wrong on the printer end. I am running on a Mac Pro running OS10.9.1. As I stated earlier this only happens every once in awhile and dont create the file any differently than any other.

Thank you Larry!  I had suspected Fiery because of other issues we've had in the past, but figured since we'd recently updated everything (including Fiery) to the latest and greatest that the problems would dissipate.  I'm so glad to hear it isn't just us!
In the meantime, I have some successful workarounds I'm using.  They're not as simple as they should be, but it will get us by until Fiery decides to address this problem.  Right now, I get better results when using Photoshop CC to repaginate or combine PDF before printing.  It seems to be working!
Thank you!

  • Printing directly from Illustrator CS4

I'm getting ready to purchase the CS4 web suite.
However, I've had problems printing my projects from Illustrator - and - yes, from translated Acrobat PDF files. The colors are washed out, and the layouts are a bit off on my HP 9600. My HP 9600 worked beautifully with a Postscript driver prior to my installing Safari on my Mac. Since the release of Safari, the Postscript driver is incompatible and HP no longer supports it. A new, 2008 version of the printer didn't solve the "washed out" appearance of my Illustrator files; so I returned it.
Can anybody recommend a professional (workhorse) printer (no larger than 13" x 19") that can print accurately from Illustrator - that doesn't involve a "pat my head, rub my tummy" workaround?

Thanks! I did reposte to the indesign forum. I just though that maybe someone in the type forum ran across this issue. Thanks so much!

  • Printing directly from Illustrator

When printing directly from Illustrator is there a way to have the dimensions printed along with crop marks and other standard marks that are available on the print dialog screen?
    Thanks,
    S

With some adjusting the artwork actually prints ok, not great, but not as bad as the text, which I created outlines but still fuzzy.
After doing more research, I don't think my laser printer (Brother 2270DW) is postscript and I can't find a driver for that specific model and for a mac.
I've tried printing eps, opening pdf via preview (which some suggested), print as image, uncheck bitmap, use PCL setting on the printer... nothing seems to work. I guess new printer? Or is there another roundabout way?
    Thanks!

  • How to export or print PDF from Illustrator with crop and reg marks?

    Hi all,
I realise this is probably a very obvious question, but I've just upgraded from CS3 to CS5.5, and I'm tearing my hair out with the loss of Adobe PDF printer driver. I've looked on forums and can't find this question - prob. so obvious that no one else has asked it.
Can't seem to export as PDF from Illustrator ,only 'save as'. This doesn't give me my crop marks. I've tried putting in crop marks - Effects/Crop Marks - but this places the marks outside my trim, at the edges of my background image, which comes out 2mm all round for bleed purposes.
How can I set crop marks to denote the dimensions of the page size, regardless of how much crap I've got spilling out over the edges for bleed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!
PS: Bring back the PDF Printer Driver pleeeease!

You can turn on crop & trim marsk when doing a save as to PDF. But turn on some bleed values greater than 0 (not  as in my screenshot) or you will not get any bleed of your artwork, just the marks then.

  • Printing crooked from Illustrator CS2

When I print from Illustrator CS2, from my Mac OS X, on my HP All in One Printer the document prints crooked on the page. The printer is brand new (I bought it two weeks ago.) I checked to see if other applications were printing crooked too: Word prints fine, Adobe Photoshop prints fine. Any suggestions on what the problem might be, and how to fix it?

So I have narrowed it down to something PS is doing to the file on output. Even when I output a PDF from the same PS file I get the haloed fonts. When I recreate the same art in InDesign or Illustrator the fonts are razor sharp.
    Weird.

  • Print issue from Illustrator CC

When attempting to print to the Multifunction (bypass) tray on a Canon copier, the paper is pulled from tray one.  Is there a setting in Illustrator CC that is over-writing the print driver settings?

AI doesn't care for such stuff. There's probably some "auto" setting somewhere in your driver that tries to detect the paper size and pulls the sheets from the respective stock tray...

  • PDF Printer error from IE8

I can use the PDF Printer with no problems in any situation except when trying to print to PDF in Windows 7 which uses IE8. I can't create a PDF from any web page at all. The document never gets created and the print queue reports that there was an error but it doesn't identify the error.
I tried disabling my antivirus program and I tried disabling the Windows 7 firewall but neither resolved the issue. I also disabled accelerators in IE8 but that didn't work either.

I have the same problem and running v9.2
Still no answer I can find. I refuse to turn off protected mode so end up printing to a MS Document writer/office image printer. If I need a pdf I convert that.
It about time Adobe fixed it

  • Printing PDF from Illustrator CC

I often open PDF files from customers with Illustrator to modify them when pagination or page position is incorrect.  I have been doing this in Illustrator for many years without issue, but since the CC upgrade, Illustrator invariably quits when I try to print.  Sometimes the print actually goes through to the printer, but I have to relaunch Illustrator CC and reopen my file to continue every time.
    I am using:
    Illustrator CC 18.0.0
    Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
iMac 27" 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 20 GB RAM
Xerox Color 550 (with 550-560 Integrated Fiery)
Any ideas?  Anyone else experiencing this issue?  Any advice would be much appreciated.
I can be emailed at [email protected] as well.
    Thank you.

I can go direct from word or my document scanner to PDF with no problems. I did notice though, that I have two instances of Acrobat 11 Pro under Installed Programs.
    1. Adobe Systems, installed 5/14/2013, 1.93 GB, version 11.0.00
    2. Adobe Systems Incorporated, 5/14/2013,  1.85 GB, version 11.0
Perhaps this is causing some sort of conflict but which one do I remove?
    Please help.

Id CS6. I keep getting message that update failed. Using W7 SP1.
I was printing to PDF because that was the way I had always done it on previous versions of acrobat. But I just read on one of the forums to export to PDF which I did and the issue was resolved. I found that there was a quantum leap in output to PDF by exporting.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Print picture from Illustrator Community Hewlp

I would like to print out thr Tool Panel Overview picture for Illustrator CS5 as found in Community Help. Can't get it to print. Tried copy and paste to no avail. Any suggestions?

    You mean this:
You should be able to right-click (Windows) or Control-Click (Mac) with your mouse in the image and then choose "Save Image As". Then save the image to your computer, open it with a graphics program, and print it.

  • Mysterious lines and gradient when printing from Illustrator or pdf on PC and MAC

First of all I have to admit I'm not a big computer brainiac but this issue keeps on reoccurring no matter what computer I use. When creating files/layouts in Illustrator and either saving them to pdf and then printing or printing directly from Illustrator either from a PC or from Mac (I use both) the print outs come out with mysterious lines and gradient not matter what colour is used. The lines occur on solid colour prints, when gradient or transparency are not used and when they are used as well. Any ideas suggestions how to make them go away?

    Monica,
Here's an image of a print out that was meant to be a solid black colour. This happens with other colours as well not just with black.

  • Printing user validation errors from .php file back onto a form

Hey all. I have written a simple contact form with the extention .php. It includes the php validation and the form inputs on one page. If the input does not validate, a warning in red is printed at the top of the form after the user pushes submit. When I cut and paste the php validation code into a seperate file, the validation errors print on a blank screen. What I want is to have the same results with a seperate php file as I do when I include the php code on the form. (print errors from the seperate php validation file back onto the form).  Thanks for taking a look

You want the form to submit its results to a separate file which processes the data.  If this separate file finds errors, you want it to return control to the form page which would a) display the error messages, and b) populate the fields with the data entered?
If that's the case, then the processing file would have to send the errors and the data back to the form page either as a) URL variables, b) a cookie, or c) entries in a database.
    Does that help?

  • Xerox 7400 weird behavior when printing from Illustrator/Acrobat CS3

    Hi,
Since I have Leopard, every time I try to print anything from Illustrator on the 7400N and doing more than one copy, it looks like the printer takes every copy as a separate print job (but in the print queue looks like one).
This is what it's going on:
    - Illustrator takes much more time to process the same printout, let's say... if I want to print 20 copies, it looks like it takes 20 times the amount of time it does when printing just one copy.
    - The printer takes much more time to print, and before it prints every copy I see the message "Processing Data - Please Wait" in the 7400 LCD Display. That message should pop up only one time at the beginning, not every time it makes a copy.
But all this happens when I print vector images, if try to print a raster image from Photoshop for instance, or a PDF document from Preview (which rasterizes the image before sending the printjob to the 7400), everything behaves normally.
It looks to me that the problem pops up only if If the printjob is sent using postscript language. I had CS3 and the same printer under Tiger and no problem at all, so I believe it has a to be a Leopard problem. Any help will be appreciated.

    Gah!
Why the hell is that disabled by default???
The other way I fixed it was to change from "Times" to "Times New Roman" and that worked (even without the Download PPD Fonts option checked).
    Thanks!

  • Best workflow for image (LOGO) from Illustrator to FCP?

Greetings to all. I am struggling with this -- I want to bring my company logo into FCP 5.1.4, FROM Illustrator to FCP. Easy enough? Not for me.. as I have two issues:
    1. My imported image looks great in the viewer, but jaggies in the Canvas.
I understand that for DV NTSC 48k, my frame size is 720x480 -- but in another post, I read that it is best to export as 720x540, .tif (another person said 720x540 jpeg, because jpeg embeds sRGB proile -- but that will be part of question #2) -- the square pixel vs. 4:3 pixel issue...
My Illustrator image is all vector art, and all fonts are outlined before export. I am saving as high-res (300 dpi). I tried saving as tif, jpeg, pdf. I tried bringing the PDF into photoshop, and saving as a psd. I tried opening pdf. No matter what I tried, the image looked perfect in the viewer, but like doo in the canvas. A tif, file size 720x540, 300dpi looks correct in the viewer, but jaggie in the canvas.
YES, the green "render" bar was visible in the timeline -- of course, that must be the problem -- but then I rendered the still clip, and there was no difference. I made sure the render indicator in the timeline was "dark grey" -- but yet, the imported still image from illustrator looks jaggie and not good enough for production in the canvas.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE?
    2. Color space -- regardless of the jaggies issues, my imported still image from illustrator is all washed out when imported.
Regardless of file type. Yes, file set to RGB. Yes, gamma set to 2.2 (also tried setting imported still gamma to defualt - "source" - no change)
My LCD display (mac book pro C2D 17") is calibrated, using a Spyder2. Gamma is set to 2.2. My print output from illustrator (saved as pdf x-1/a) ALWAYS prints as expected.
If I add a color correction filter, and juice up the saturation, I can try to make the still image look close, but this shouldn't be the case, YES?
My expectation is that a still image in illustrator or photoshop should look the same in FCP.
What kind of newbie error am I making? What am I missing?
Thank in advance for any guidance.
    Jeremy

I have been sending jobs to print (magazine ads, web, general print) for ages, and my printed materials come in as expected -- that is, within a few % points of my display -- which is what we are expecting -- and also EXTREMELY close to proof prints, using a reasonably high-end inkjet printer, with correct paper profiles... that is to say, that although I am no expert in color management by any means, I have what I need so that what I see on screen is very close to what is printed on a local printer, or a million dollar press.
CAN I EXPECT to achieve anything close to this with video?
When you print something on paper, you get to see exactly what it will look like and that's exactly how your customers will see it too. With video, there are infinite variables affecting this such as incorrectly calibrated displays; cheap TV components; the difference between CRTs, LCDs and computer displays; the size / resolution of the display, etc. There are so many variables that it will look different on every screen. All we can do as content producers is calibrate to a common standard, achieved through a properly-calibrated broadcast monitor.
But if your film has a single use in mind, such as a trade show, it is better to ignore the above advice and use the display device it will end up on as the monitoring device, if you can.
I am not near my FCP machine right now, so I can't try the test -- but I will try to revert my display color profile to stock apple LCD, and see what this brings. I know that FCP has simply NOT looked correct to me on my machine.
What do the "big guns" who are using FCP and having to use pre-defined creative print elements, created in AI or Photoshop or whatever -- all color matched for print, what do you guys do when you need to integrate this into FCP?
ARE FCP editors using Apple's 1.8 gamma (I guess you must because FCP uses it regardless of your colorsync profile, per the above article). ???
I set it to Source and have had no problems because I create still images on the same machine with the default gamma of 1.8. I think what happened was you created the images in Photoshop with a colorsync profile of 2.2 on the monitor but perhaps a different profile embedded (if any). When you brought it into FCP, FCP automatically assumed it was created at a gamma of 1.8 and boosted to 2.2 but as the images was not created at 1.8, it was already very bright to begin with and so was boosted x2. That's my theory.

  • AI images not printing correctly from InDesign

    (Reposting from Color Management Forum)
First off, please forgive me if this is  not the right forum or if I am not using the right terms.  I am the network admin for our company and I'm posting this on behalf of our designer.
We recently added PostScript drivers to our Sharp printers, and we have been seeing odd printing results when printing embedded .AI files.
We use CreativeSuite CS5, and our developer has hundreds of images with pure white and transparent backgrounds stored in .AI format.  When these images are embedded/linked to an Indesign document they print with a solid black background and what appears to be an inverted color pattern, almost like a photo negative.
All embedded EPS images print fine.  The affected .AI files print fine when printed directly from Illustrator.
The embedded images print fine using a PCL driver.  We are trying to implement the Postscript driver for better color quality.
    Any ideas?
(We are using Windows XP SP3, x86
Server based network printing on Windows 2003 x86)
    Thanks in advance
    Matt

Unfortunately, no we are still dealing with it.  Like you, I have found very little on this anywhere else.
Sharp has been very helpful, trying to see if it is something in the PS drivers, but to no avail.  I'm pretty confident that there is nothing wrong with the PS drivers since everything else prints just fine.
So far, our designer is either converting images to EPS documents or converting the InDesign file to PDF before printing.  Frustrating and time consuming are an understatement, but it is getting the job done.
If you do find something, please post back here! I'll do the same.
    Matt
