Printing Fonts from PS CS2

I have noticed that if I create a new file in PS CS2 and either print or create a PDF to print, the fonts come out with a gray "halo" around them on my $80k laser printer.
Any ideas?

So I have narrowed it down to something PS is doing to the file on output. Even when I output a PDF from the same PS file I get the haloed fonts. When I recreate the same art in InDesign or Illustrator the fonts are razor sharp.
Weird.

  • Printing crooked from Illustrator CS2

When I print from Illustrator CS2, from my Mac OS X, on my HP All in One Printer the document prints crooked on the page. The printer is brand new (I bought it two weeks ago.) I checked to see if other applications were printing crooked too: Word prints fine, Adobe Photoshop prints fine. Any suggestions on what the problem might be, and how to fix it?

  • I have an officejet 6500 wireless, doesn't print fonts from quickbooks after moved to new house...

I have an officejet 6500 wireless and it worked just fine - used it for pronting from Quickbooks.  Moved to new house. Because of new router had to reinstall via install CD.  Install worked fine.  When printing checks from Quickbooks I now get a message that says the the printer does not support the font being requested - it used to...what's up with this?

Does this only happen when printing from Quickbooks? Have you tried adjusting the settings in QB's? The meesage you are receiving is saying that the font that QB's is wanting to use is not supported by the printer.
I've included a link to the Hp website that has some updates available for this printer that might help as well.

  • Printing problem from Photoshop CS2 to HP 3500CP plotter

I am running Photoshop CS2 on the computer connected to my 3500CP plotter. I have for the past few years had no problem printing. This past several days tried to proint a banner for my daughter's birthday and whenI go from Print with Preview to start the print it shows the plotter is receiving the file. The plotter automatically does a printhead check and then shows it is printing but then just starts rolling a blank page out until I stop it and reset everything. I have run several tests on the plotter and all come back good so I am guessing it is coming from Photoshop though I am doing nothing different than I have before. I hope someone has a suggestion sisnce I need this banner before Friday. My daughter turns 33 on 11/11/11. Thank you in advance.

Well... I fixed the problem a little differently. I got a 100% + costs refund from HP themselves and bought an Epson! Boy, was that ever the right decision to make. I've had not a single problem with the Epson where the HP gave me a litany of endless drama. I can't understand why a printer maker needs to create faulty and bug ridden software that wants to take control over both Windows and Photoshop and then they try and blame everyone except themselves.
The HP Z5400 postscript printer proved one important thing to me... You only ever get what you pay for. I run canvas about4 to 5 hours a day with the Epson. I had to stay at work past 8 hours a day just to get the same amount of work out of the HP. For speed, I've never had anything faster than a Canon 8100 but the hidden costs of ownership are horrendous. The HP was the cheapest printer I've had and the slowest. The Epson is economical to run, performs at a reasonable speed and doesn't have any hidden costs.
After 5 months of hassling HP to get the "next day, on-site" support I paid $1200 extra for and never got, I can guarantee you I'll never , ever own another Hewlett Packard product again. I had to go to the Asian Pacific head off to get anyone who'd listen to me. The Australians wanted me to sign a form I'd keep my mouth shut and sacrifice nearly a grand I'd put into it before talking about a refund. Then I discovered they'd been fined 3 MILLION bucks by the competition and consumer watch dog in Australia over telling someone who bought a $200 printer to go take a walk when it dropped its guts a few weeks after buying it. That mob is pure poison for consumers.

  • Printing graphics from InDesign CS2 to an HP 4000 PS Laserjet

My HP 4000 Laserjet will not print InDesign CS2 documents that have pictures, other graphics, or objects created in InDesign with either a drop shadow or feathered.
I have an HP Laserjet 4000 which I previously used with Pagemaker 6.5. I could set the screen lpi and angle values for exactly as it needed to be using the Acrobat Distiller PPD and print documents (with pictures and graphics) to the post script printer with no problem. Now I am using Adobe InDesign CS2 and I don't seem to have same the printing options and control that I had with Pagemaker. But mainly, in Pagemaker, when I printed a document I could select the HP 4000 PS printer in the Print Document box and it listed Acrobat Distiller in the PPD box which is what I used.
Now with InDesign CS2, when I select the HP 4000 PS printer it only shows the HP 4000 PS series ppd (and this may be correct). Although I can still set the values for screening (lpi) and screen angles and screened objects that are created in InDesign will print to whatever screen values I selected, the document will not print when pictures and other graphics are placed into the document or if an object created in InDesign has a drop shadow or is feathered. When I remove the graphics and drop shadow, it will print, however, another problem is that it will not print certain fonts properly (leaving out certain letters in certain words - for instance the "l" in "floor".)
Is this a compatibility issue between this older Laserjet and InDesign -- is there another driver that I need -- or am I overlooking something that's obvious? I'd appreciate someone's help who may know what the problem is so I won't be doing the trial and error thing.
    Thanks,
    Cliff Stone

Thanks everyone for their input. As far as the memory shortage, I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. I can create a document in Pagemaker of only 200KB that prints fine and the convert the same document to ID and it fails to print.
I think Dov is right about the 4000 because I remember when the printer was new, there were some incompatibility issues with Pagemaker that I had to work around. The Adobe people told me back then that Pagemaker and HP postscript printers didn't get along very well.
I'll check with HP again (I've already written to them twice with no response) and see if the firmware upgrade Dov mentioned is still available, however, even though this 4000 has been very durable and a real workhorse for me, it may be time to put it out to pasture and invest in a new Postscript laserjet.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks again for everyone's help.

  • InDesign (CS 5.5) won't print fonts from a file that prints correctly in CS 3

    Hello,
I installed CS 5.5 last night and installed all of the updates (on Windows XP with SP3). I have an Okidata B4300 laser printer with Postscript 3 emulation installed. Several typefaces (both True Type and Open Type, 4 fonts tested so far) are not printing from InDesign CS 5.5, but when I open the same file in CS 3, it prints correctly. All of the fonts are installed in the Windows font folder and have worked for years. No printing errors in Photoshop CS 5.5 or in Word.
I've been going through the "troubleshoot printing/PDF export problems in InDesign" guide, focusing on the application level. Here's what I've done so far:
    1. Restarted the program, printer, system
    2. Did a disk cleanup, defragmented the system, and ran an error check
    3. Recreated the InDesign preference files
    4. Downloaded the Adobe Universal Postscript Windows Driver
Each time I try to print my test file, I encounter the same error--
    Error: undefined
    Offending command: @FS
    Stack:
    6.81257
    4.60767
    9.74377
    9.86353
    -mark-
And then, in parentheses, it prints the text that should have printed.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jill Shultz

    Hi Dov,
Just to double-check: you meant delete the Adobe Universal PS Driver and reinstall the Okidata PS driver, right?
I wasn't complaining about the situation; if there was anything in the tone of my message that pricked, I'm sorry. I know Adobe doesn't purposefully cause problems or make its software unnecessarily picky. That would be bad business. And I only asked about the possibility of a glitch because I was working with my back turned away from this CPU as it did the installation, so if there had been a momentary warning, I would likely have missed it. Glitches happen, even to the best software.
I was asking questions hoping for another test that might provide a definitive answer. I know that doesn't always happen when troubleshooting, but it's a lovely goal, especially with the looming specter of hardware replacement.
The Oki printer has been a workhorse under heavy use, so I wouldn't replace it unless it was really necessary. In fact, if the reinstallation of the Oki driver doesn't fix the problem, then I'll probably test all of the typefaces to see which ones work straight up and which require the PDF workaround. I might live with the problem for a while.
Is there any info on the Adobe site about which printers implement PS correctly?
Thanks for all of your help!
    Jill

  • Giant print font from internet programs when printing with Firefox

When printing from any internet application when I use the print hot link or the printer from the tool bar the print is GIGANTIC. A single page prints on 4 pages. I logged in to Internet Explorer and I do not have this problem from that browser. I went to about:config and reset the printer and still the same problem. I have printed from maps.google.com, from my online banking and credit card apps. When printing from email and printing .pds' no problem. When print Word documents, no problem. Something changed in Firefox and I can't find it for the life of and I am wasting a lot of paper. Please advise.

Please check you are logged in, and try again.
Why do I get this ERROR message when I try to confirm my question by clicking on the link in the email?

  • Lpr printer font from terminal--how do i change it?

    i have MacOS X 10.3.4 (640 MB ram); Terminal 1.4.2 (v100)
which i inherited; recently discovered gnu under all that gui.
i love it. but when i cat|lp, i'm stuck in 18pt Monaco, and
lose a line on every page.  not to mention, tabs are hosed.
changing fonts on the terminal window works fine, but does
affect the print. man lp mentions -o raw, but no other options.
    help?
    < Edited by Host >

indeed. Textedit can read most of 'em, and print them to suit.
the peculiar advantage of lpr is that it's much slower
which is a distinct advantage when the black cartridge is
low on ink-- 2nd & subsequent pages will be faint with
textedit (unless i colorize it); lpr is legible all the way.
"fine, but does affect the print" should have been
    ..does _not_ affect print
    cheers

  • Images print too dark from Photoshop CS2 and CS3

Having used both CS2 and CS3 I now realise that the prints that I work on in either appear much brighter on the screen that they do when printed, as much as 3 stops darker when printed. I have also noticed that in other programs such as Google Picasa that I use as a viewing tool the images appear closer to the images from the printer. I have used various pro-labs that require their profiles to be used and my own epson 3800 printer at home and despite trying lots of different settings I am unable to get prints that look like they do on the screen they are always darker.
I am using windows XP on a dual core 2.4 PC with 2 Gb ram and an ATI Radeon X1600 series grafix card which I have just updated the driver on. The monitor is an LCD type and is calibrated weekly using a spyder 2 express.

First isolate whether your display is too bright or your printer is too
dark. I'd start by printing images from another source and see if they
look as they should. www.drycreekphoto.com has a number of calibration
images that should do for this purpose.
Once you've isolated the problem, we can take it from there.

  • Why is the printed font so small on a print job I send from my email to my new HP Photosmart C510

Why is the printed font so small on a print job I send from my email to my new HP Photosmart C510? I sent it via HP ePrint from a lotus notes based email account. It was just a text message but it was so small on the print out I could not begin to read it.
    Thanks
    Matt

At the document you plan to print, go to "file" in upper right corner.  Select "print preview".  Atop that window, select font size.  Recommended minimum 60%.  May need to adjust with different documents.
    Good luck!

  • Printing font Barcode3of9 from Crystal Reports XI

I have an issue with printing font Barcode3of9 from Crystal Reports XI utilizing Manhattan Associates Performance Management (PM) UI application.
The font is applied to a field that is converted from a number to a text using the CStr formula in Crystal Reports XI in order to display the value as a barcode.
The barcode on the report is converted successfully in the PM UI 100% of the time.  However the business tries to print the report using the print or the export the report functions and the barcode is not converted 100% of the time into a barcode only the value of the field displays.
The font is installed on the server that the business accesses and I have installed the font on the web server for our testing environment, but it still does not aide with fixing the issue.
Does anybody have any experience with this issue?
    Thank you

Please contact Manhatten Assoc. for supporting their software.

  • Placed PDFs don't print correct size from InDesign CS2

I am using CS2 stuff on Mac OS (leopard) with Epson RX680 printer. It's a large document with several placed files. Two are PFD files (color) that print too large. Looks fine on the screen but the printed document looks like it's trying to tile. (Page is divided into four sections with large section of file printed into each.) These placed files print fine from Acrobat and PhotoShop. Also, the document has several placed PDFs that print great. Help. Am on deadline.

Thanks a bunch. Long story short, I printed from Acrobat in high res,
scanned it in high res to TIFF and used it that way. What a pain!
What a crime. It may look good on screen and even off your desktop printer, but you've now rasterized everything and captured the printer dots from your printer, which should reproduce quite nicely on an imagesetter.
The answer to this kind of problem is never to rasterize the PDF, but to find out what's wrong with the print driver or printer, but if you're going to take a shortcut, the least you should do is open the PDF in Photoshop at 600 ppi or (preferably) higher and save as a psd or tiff. Scanning is a waste of time and will only degrade things more. If the PDF is choking the printer, odds are pretty good a bitmap image with enough resolution to preserve some semblance of the vector data is going to do it too, by the way.

  • New printer prints fine from web, gets stuck sending data from all Adobe CS2 programs

I'm trying to print envelopes on a Lexmark x5650 I just bought. Things can print just fine from all sources but as soon as I try to print from InDesign CS2 the print manager just shows "sending data" and doesn't do anything else. In fact, the same thing happens from all Adobe programs. If I pause the job and start it again then it gets stuck "opening printer connection". I deleted all my other printers so there weren't any other print jobs anywhere else. Help me please!
Side note, when I reinstall the printer the help assistant it tells me at one point that there are print jobs running and I have to cancel them to fnish the install. For the life of me I cannot find this print job, it's no where to be seen in the system preferences printer section.

If you did not, then that's the reason it isn't working. Do it. Make sure that the specific printer is selected in Page Setup and then check the Printer Features under the Printer button.
Ignore the dire warnings that pop-up when you click those buttons.
It should not be necessary to go to PDF first.
