Printing freezes applications

Printing on this machine freezes the application (ie TextEdit) forcing a force quit. I have reset the printing system, added new queues, and tried printing from TextEdit and preview. Both freeze.
I am seeing the warning "No limit for Validate-Job defined in policy kerberos" in the cups log.
I have run routine maintenance on the drive, fixed permissions, cleared cache files.
Revert to previous CUPS version? Any other suggestions? Thanks ...

Found this, check it out, might be of some assistance.

  • MFP M127fn connected, test printing OK, can't print from applications

    Hello Everyone!
I have just set up my M127fn via USB on a Windows 8 system. The set up went fine. I have a small stack of test pages from the HP software, but it won't print anything from any applications like MSOffice. The HP diagnostic software (Print and Scan Doctor 4.6)  can communicate with the printer and everything checks out OK.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!
I have replied twice to your last posting, but have heard no response. Unless a solution can be presented quickly, I fell I must return the product. LPug and play was introduced with Windows 95 and this HP product has not lived up to that 20 year old technological standard. My previous replies are copied below.
    Please respond soon.__________________________________________

    Hello again!
I haven't heard a response to my most recent reply. Is there anything you can suggest before I give up and return this HP product to the store? I would like a quick resolution to this. As an update to my previous email (copied below), printing is no longer working through Adobe Reader.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • How to print formated data/report on client's printer (Web Application)

    Hi All
I want to print some formatted data/report ( it might be 1000 pages) on user's printer.
    Application is web based
Technology used are Java - jsp - servlets
    i want functionality like...
when user click on print button/link, data is fetched from server and all pages (it is formated data so i want alignment on page while printing) should be printed one after another.
Also printer selection dialog should displayed one time when user click on print button/link.
    Questions:
    1. How i will transfer all data to client (web browser) from the server ??
    2. And how i can print that data on user's printer ??
There is requirement (or limitation) that I can not use applet for this purpose.
And also it is not fix that we must use java tech., we can use any othere tech. but condition is that it must support multiple platform (in short platform indipendant)
    There is solution like ...
    I can use window.print() function of DOM/JavaScript,
but it prints only one page which is displayed on browser.
I don't want to display any page. and want to print all pages.
if any one done or have idea then let me know.
    Thanks in Adv.
    Shailesh Koradiya

    thanks linxpda for reply,
we can use ActiveX component for windows platform for printing purpose, same way we can use platform specific component for printing... (for linux, unix, sun solaris etc...)
if it is possible then let me inform.
    Thanks,

  • Code 128 Barcode printed from Application Express

    Hi,
My colleague and I have written a procedure to generate Code128 Barcodes. These appear fine on the screen within Application Express 3. But when we export the file as an RTF or PDF document to our BI_Publisher server running under LINUX RedHat the Barcodes are greyed out and cannot be seen.
Anyone any ideas on how to solve this? It is extremely irritating only to be able to offer our users the ability to print the Application Express page off rather than a proper document.
    Thanks

    Hi kcbemssr,
I don't know weather you can see this reply, but i still want to say something about this.
Did you used another type of code 128?
you can try this. and here is a site i recommand you, it's all about barcode, you can get code 128

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g won't print from applications from IMac OS 10.7.5

Just had a software update today, now it won't print from applications (Excel, Word, etc).  I've done all the troubleshooting in the exact orders and have also shut everything down, reinstalled, turned off router, etc.  Don't know what else to do.  Prints out printer status report, Wireless network test results shows that no problems found, congratulation on the successful setup of your wireless printer.  IP addresses on wireless and printer are similar.  Looked all over forum, but couldn't find a solution.  Printer is not even 2 months old.  Doesn't make sense.  Seemed to stop  printing after we used the scanner, not sure if that is an issue for any reason.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • Adobe Reader 9 Print Freeze - includes Fix

Since installing Adobe Reader 9 on one computer, I cannot print a .pdf file from that computer.
The print process freezes at the small "Progress" pop-up (0 progress) - eventually freezing the computer altogether - forcing a computer reset.
Windows XP Pro SP3, network printers connected to another computer on a home network. Printers are an HP Laserjet and an HP Inkjet. Printer drivers are up to date.
    - All other printing, with other file types, works fine from that computer.
    - Prior to installing Reader 9, the 8 and 7 Reader versions printed fine from this computer.
    - The same .pdf files print fine from another computer.
I've also tried uninstalling Reader 9, and reinstalling it; I also tried uninstalling Reader 9 and re-installing Reader 8, and even re-installing Reader 7. Whatever the problem, it has now disabled .pdf printing from any version of Adobe Reader on that computer, where it had previously worked.
Again, this ".pdf print freeze" problem is only on this computer, and only after installing Adobe Reader 9.
    The fix:
Uninstall Adobe Reader 9. Restore computer to a date prior to installing Adobe 9. (Just unistalling didn't do it.)
Install prior version of Adobe Reader - 8.13 works here.
I can print .pdf files again.
I had one .pdf file that I had saved when I had Adobe Reader 9 installed, and still can't print that one.
I got tried of trying every other "Fix" I could find - none worked. The real fix would have been not installing Adobe Reader 9 in the first place, but maybe this will help someone.

You may want to try the windows installer cleanup utility.
    Download the utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

  • Printer freezing after printing label - C#, PM43

Hi, I'm building an application which runs on PM43, uses LCD and keypad for interaction.the application should run in a loop, like ask for the input, print the label, then go back to the main screen where it asks for input. After it takes the input, and prints the label, the printer or application kind of sleeps unless we press some button on the printer, and then it goes back to the main screen. otherwise it would stop on the "Printing..." which I show before calling the Print function. another point I noted is that application would go back to main screen if the print function is not called, for example if the entered part number is not found in SQLite DB, then it shows "Item not found" and goes back to main screen. but if the print function is called, then it is stuck after printing and we have to press enter or some other button to take it back to main screen. so, it looks like to be a problem between Printing and Canvas. I'm uploading a sample project. there is a far loop, in each iteration, it should print a label, show the "Completed Printing" message for couple of seconds and then go back to main screen for a couple of seconds, and then start the next iteration.but this also seems to be stopping after printing unless we wake the printer by pressing some button. please guide.thanks Regards,Zeeshan

I'm not sure if this was ever fully resolved this, or if the user will even check this response, but in case it helps someone else I'm answering. I believe the problem with the code you provided is in the attempt at multithreading. In the main function you created a new thread using the PrintingThreadFunction, and started it immediately. This function alters the canvas (which I believe should only ever be directly changed from your programs main thread) It also attempts to do this before the Canvas loop is even started using run in the main (previous) thread. Quick Quote from the Smart Printing Resource Kit Developer Guide:
"The UI functionalities provided through the C# API are single-threaded. You shouldonly enter the UI main-loop from the main thread, and you should only modify UIobjects from the main thread." (pg. 22)
I highly recommend using delegates to handle the multithreading, and to only modify the canvas from the main thread. I am also guessing your timer event which partially resolved your issue lives in the main thread as well.

  • Printing hangs applications after upgrading to x.4.9

I thought the upgrade to X.4.9 went smoothly until I tried to print today. I can now no longer print from any application to either of my connected printers, or print to pdf. The application that is doing the printing hangs on the "processing page" window after I tell it to print, and is chewing up %100 of the cpu according to the Activity monitor. I tried reinstalling cups and Reseting the printing system via the print Utility (both of which have been suggested on other posts to solve X.4.9 printer issues) and neither of those worked. The weird thing is I have printer sharing on, and my wife can print to the printers that are connected to my machine from her laptop. I can see print jobs that she sends to the printer in the printer que of the print utility. Its just whenever I try to print, the application hangs before the file can be sent to the print que.

Try opening Disk Utility and running Repair Disk Permissions. You may even have to do this after booting from your OS X disc then selecting Utility > Disk Utility.
The other thing would be to look at the cups error log to see which process is failing. Once you identify it then sometimes this sort of error can be resolved by changing permissions on the file so that you have read/write.

  • Printing causes application to freeze

When I try to print from my Macbook the application I am trying to print from freezes and I have to "Force Quit" it to get the Macbook to respond.(I have previously had the Macbook printing via my desktop Mac and wifi network)
The System Profiler shows no printers in the printer area.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    DaddyPayCheck,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am using an Epsom Stylus Printer through my desktop iMac. All applications freeze when I try to print from them (even emails).
The "System Profiler" under Printers shows no printers found, although I have reinstalled the software a couple of times.
It has worked in the past but I think may have started with this problem after updating NeoOffice.
    Cheers.
    JR.

  • All things related to printing causing applications to freeze

I would love to uninstall my printer and reinstall it, however when I try to access Print & Fax from System Preferences, it locks up and I have to Force Quit. When trying to print from any application, the application freezes and I have to Force Quit. Help!

Next on the list is to do an Archive & Install, saving user and network settings. See http://www.apple.com/support/leopard/install/ for details.

  • Printing freezes many applications

    Hi All,
I have a Windows 7 laptop that sporadically experiences program hangups when printing to any printer. It's not just one program, it happens in Office 2013, Acrobat XI, even the Windows photo printer. But it doesn't hang "low-level" apps like notepad.
It will occur when printing to any of the various printers on the network (some Canon copiers, and several HP LaserJet colors), and even printing to the Adobe PDF printer and a usb-attached HP laser printer. Rebooting solves the problem for a few days, and
printing works fine, then it resurfaces and I cannot print until another reboot. It seems to be a problem with the Windows printing subsystem rather than any specific application or print driver. I've run an system file check which came back clean. I've never
seen anything like this and I'm pretty much stumped.
    Anybody have an idea?
    Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. No there are no related events in the system or application logs other than the "Application Hang" event identifying the program which I had to close forcibly. Unlinke "App Crash", this event doesn't include any helpful clues or point
to problem DLLs or anything. I've thought about removing all print drivers and starting over, but that doesn't seem like a strong lead since it occurs with various printers and virtual printers like print-to-PDF or XPS.
I'll give it a try though. Thanks again.

  • File-print freezes my applications

I installed printer software and now my file-print function doesn't work in word/excel/email, but i was able to get it to work in textedit. I can use the printer icon and it prints fine. I called the printer company and did extensive checks and the problem is not on their end(hence file-print works in textedit). I think the software did something to my operating system. I tried uninstalling the printer software and that didn't help. Any advice on how to fix it?

Try the things in #E4 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

  • Adobe PDF printer freezes on my Win 7 x64 with Acrobat XI

Purchased and running Acrobat XI Standard latest update 11.0.10 on Win 7 Pro x64 (6.1.7601  Service Pack 1), a rather fresh installation (2 months).
Adobe's conversion to PDF doesn't work when using the Adobe PDF printer. The printer initiates normally but the conversion freezes midway and no PDF is created. Same trouble in every application.
From the Firefox Acrobat toolbar I get the error message "an error occured during PDF conversion"
PDF conversions triggered from within Acrobat or Office 2007 toolbar do work sometimes but not always. For example, when converting a DOCX from within Acrobat (create PDF from file) the error message is "could not open...since the file format is not supported or the file is damaged" which is nonsense.
    Other Acrobat functionality seems okay.
I already purged and reinstalled Acrobat, same result.
    Any ideas please?

I can convert XPS to PDF, and AcroTray.exe is active and running. But the Acrobat PDF Printer still freezes at approx. 10% progress bar, see screenshot.
