Printing from Adobe Reader X; file turns to "Print" file (*.prn).

When I try to print a PDF file from Adobe Reader X, the system presents me with a "SAVE" window with the PDF file renamed as a "Print" File (*.prn).  I am unable to print this.  However, if I locate the file in a folder, and click on it, then click "Print" from the drop-down menu, the file prints correctly.
Has anyone else had this problem, and what can be done to correct it?
I'm using Windows XP Professional on a slightly older IBM compatable computer.

In the print dialog disable the entry 'Print to File'.

  • Pulling Images From Adobe Reader PDF File

I was sent some artwork in a Adobe Reader PDF. How do I pull the images out of it to use? Thanks.

Don't know that you can with Reader. You should ask in the Reader forum that is linked at the top of this forum. In Acrobat it is easy, but Reader does not have the editing capabilities of Acrobat and it is probably not directly possible.

  • My computer locks up when attempting to print an Adobe Reader XI file.  How do I fix this??

My computer locks up when attempting to print an Adobe Reader XI file.  How do I fix this??

adobe reader 11.0.10  windows 7 home edition  Everything was working fine, but I got a "communication not available error" and rebooted the wifi.  The next day, when I went to print, after selecting the number of copies etc, I clicked on "print".  The next screen is the progress report   "Printing xxx.file.", and nothing happens.  The computer is completely lock and I have to reboot.  I can print excel and word files, but no pdf files, either from the internet or one of my documents.  I have tried saving the internet pages and then printing later, but that doesn't work either.  One suggestion was to go to edit, preferences, security enhanced and turn off enable.  That worked for one document ( a test) from my computer, but when I tried another file, no go

  • Can't print PDFs from Adobe Reader 7!

A few months ago I started having problems printing from Adobe Reader 7.
I can view PDFs fine. I can also view PDFs online through Safari with the Adobe Reader plug in.
What I've resorted to doing is using Preview to open PDFs that I've saved from Adobe Reader, and I can print fine through Preview.
But that isn't quite a good fix for me!
I can also print documents in other formats from plenty of other applications, so I know it's not a printer-talking-to-Mac issue.
What happens is this - I have a PDF open in Adobe and send it to print. The printer comes up in the dock like its working. After an appropriate amount of time (the time one would expect the document to print), it disappears from the dock as though it is done printing. But no document ever prints. And the printer never displays that it is receiving information to print.
Yesterday I spent a good chunk of time working on this problem to no avail.
I ran "detect and repair" in Adobe Reader but no problems were found.
I threw away Adobe Reader 7 (I think I was up to 7.0.7) and its preferences and other files and downloaded and installed Reader 6. I still couldn't print from Reader.
I installed patches and updates incrementally to from Reader 6 to 7.0.5 by allowing Reader to update itself, but that didn't help.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. That didn't fix the problem.
I tried printing the document through Reader as an "image," but it just crashed the Reader.
I also downloaded and ran "Printer Setup Repair" (something I saw suggested in someone else's post about an Adobe print problem) but that didn't help matters either.
I'm sort of stumped. I'll also post this to the Adobe forums, but from what I've seen the folks over there are not really Mac users.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Ann,
A few more thoughts or your dilemma...You might try looking at your system.log with the utility Console to see if it might give you a clue to the problem. (Not that I understand all the stuff in those logs, but when MS Word and Quark did not produce printouts, the Console log named the problem fonts.)
The culprit may be the Adobe Reader PPD or Plugin. The path to those are HD/Library/Printers/PPDs/Resources/en.lproj/ADPDF7.PPD and HD/Library/Printers/PPD Plugins/AdobePDFPDE700.plugin. So if you try deleting Adobe Reader stuff again, be sure to delete those docs too, before re-installing.
Note: I use Acorbat Pro 7 so I do not know if the filenames ADPDF7.PPD and AdobePDFPDE700.plugin are the same for Reader, but the paths might be helpful.
Before uninstalling and re-installing both Adobe PhotoShop and Reader, I would suggest that you check the integrity of you hard drive. Overtime, stuff gets out of place and some applications are more sensitive than others. If there is something wrong on the hard drive, replacing the applications will still produce the same problem. Repairing disk is different from repairing permissions. As in my previous post, boot up your computer with your OS 10.3.x Install Disk 1 and launch the Disk Utility app from the CD. Click on Repair Disk...
    Hope this helps.

  • Partial printing only from Adobe Reader via Server 2008 print spooler

    Hi there,
We've recently set up a new print server for our school. It's running Windows Server 2008 (not R2) 32 bit. We have 8 printers, which are all HP LaserJet P2035n.
All printing works fine, except for PDF files from Adobe Reader. PDF files from Adobe Reader go through the print server with no visible errors, however they print strangely.
Often there will be a blank page at the start. Generally they will not print all pages (e.g. 4/10 or so) and they will cause the printer to error.
We do not get this problem using other PDF readers or with the Google Chrome PDF plugin.
Could you please provide some troubleshooting steps? Based on elimination, it seems to be something to do with the way Adobe Reader communicates with either the print server or the printer, causing some type of malformed request.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Can't print from Adobe Reader X

Whenever I try to print from Adobe Reader I get the message "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close." The error signature is:
    AppName: acrord32.exe
    AppVer: 10.1.2.45
    ModName: acrord32.exe
    ModVer: 10.1.2.45
    Offset: 0005e985
It does not matter if a PDF file ois on the web and it opens as a web page or if I open a file that is alreadty on my comuter.
I tested printing from an older version of Adobe Reader and it does not create a problem (that version is coming up when I download files that
    are on my Cloud server.
What is the solution, if any?

Kindly try the workaround available at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/928/cpsid_92870.html and this should help resolve the problem

  • Cannot Print PDFs from Adobe Reader

    Hey gang-
Just purchased a new Brother MFC-9420CN color laser printer. Works great- with one exception.
I am unable to print any PDFs with it from Adobe Reader. But note this: The very same PDFs print fine using Preview! I initially discovered this problem using Adobe Reader 7.0.5, so I downloaded and installed the latest Adobe Reader 8.1. No Help. I also reinstalled the latest Brother Drivers- no help.
I then went into Printer Setup Utility and did the Reset Printing System- re-added all Printers- but no help. I am running OS 10.4.9 on a G5 iMac.
I've seen this mentioned elsewhere including here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2643378&#2643378
Thoughts on how to fix this?
    Thanks!
    Dave

When you select print from the menu bar a print
window opens. Verify that the correct printer is
selected. Adobe will over ride some defaults and put
in itself. Let me know if this didn't work.
Thanks Glynn, but the correct printer is indeed selected. This is a weird one!

  • Some Adobe PDF documents don't print from Adobe Reader; with other software it works correctly

    Dear community,
I'm facing the problem that some Adobe PDF documents with lots of colors and lines (size less than 3 MB) don't print on our printers from Adobe Reader XI.
The same files when opened with PDF XChange or PDF Architect are printed out without problems.
How can I provide an Adobe Reader that is able to do so? Any recommendations about solving the issue are very appreciated.
    Best regards
    Christian

Word document problem fixed at the moment by deleting and adding the Lexmark printer again.

    Hi,
Thanks for using Adobe Reader. Sorry to hear that you are facing problem in printing from Adobe Reader. We will certainly help you out here but will need some of your help in triaging the issue so that Engineering can reproduce it in house. After that only we will be able to address the issue.
    Please share the below details-
    1. First of all, can you please let us know the current version of Adobe Reader which you are using? It should be 11.0.10. If it is older than this, then I will recommend you to update it to current version -    11.0.10
    2. If you already on latest version, please let us know if you started getting this issue recently (with 11.0.10 update) or you were seeing this issue earlier as well.
    3. Are you seeing this issue with some specific pdfs or any pdf in general? I mean have you ever able to print any pdf so far using Reader, For investigation, please attach PDF file, or you may share your email id for communication
    4. please specify the OS platform(32 or 64 bit ) details ?
    5. Printer details( Brand- Model and driver details), and also please check the behavior While using or other printers (if available) to give a Print ?

  • How to get print from adobe digital edition file

I coundn't print a document from Adobe digital edition file. will appreciate to know to method doing print from this program, thanks.

If you are in ADE (digital editions) you should be able to read a file of type .epub (assuming it is properly authorized).
It is while reading in ADE that need to try ctrl-I/cmd-I to ADE to check the rights.
If you are reading in ADE and ctrl-P/cmd-P doesn't work is it probably because you do not have rights to print the document.

  • How do i delete files from adobe reader?

How do I delete files that I do not want to view again from adobe reader?

You want to delete the actual PDF files, or just the entries in the Recent Documents list?
If it's the files, delete them from where they are stored on your local disk.
If it's the Recent Documents list, that depends on your operating system.
