Printing from CS5 to HP Photosmart c310a printer

I recently purchased an HP Photosmart C310a printer and am having trouble printing.  When I print from photoshop I get completely horribly different colors represented from what i see on the screen.  I have set up the color management as best as i can (setting everything up in adobe rgb or sRGB, putting in the correct photo paper, and best quality levels, in the settings).  I have tried both letting photoshop manage the colors or letting my printer do it without much difference (although i haven't figured out if/how to turn off the printer driver management of the colors when i have photoshop managing the colors).  Does it matter if i send 16bit info vs. 8 bit?  Should i print from the RAW cr2 file or make a TIFF (I have tried both without difference in the print.).  Any other important settings to keep in mind?
When i have printed from iphoto, the colors are managed perfectly, but weird horizontal bands come with the print.
When printing a diagnostic test on the printer, everything comes out perfectly and cartridges are all full of ink, so I am pretty certain this is based on a software/color management issue.
Am I missing something?

No one has replied yet and HP has never played well with Apple, so the best I can do right now is to point out a site that has proven very helpful to many users wanting or needing to read up on color management and printing:

  • 10.6.7 won't print from CS5

I went through hours of troubleshooting and was finally able to print a jpeg from CS5 by going to File/Print in CS5, select Print Settings in the middle column. That opens the Apple print dialogue box and I select Color/Quality Options and change the RGB Color to Device. After that, I was able to print fine even after changing it back to the original settings.
    I hope helps someone else...

I spent hours troubleshooting with Adobe and Apple with this very issue. And I think I found a resolution doing my own troubleshooting...
From CS5 go to File/Print and the Adobe print dialogue box opens. In the middle is a field to select Print Settings, under Copies. Select Print Settings which will open the Apple print dialogue box. Hold down the Layout field and a list opens. Select Color/Quality Options and change RGB Color to Device.
Doing this seems to reset something because I was finally able to print! And returning to the original settings seems to work again too. So, it's almost like resetting the print function from Photoshop. Although I hate to say it, seems the issue was with OS 10.6.7
I hope this is helpful to someone else.

  • Printing from CS5 Extended

I have upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion and now I cannot print from CS5 extended version 12.0 x 64. Have you a patch for this please. As a Photography tutor, it is essential to have this working correctly.

  • [none] on center of page when printing from CS5

All of the sudden a [none] is printing accross everything I print from CS5. There is no error message and the print goes through without a problem.
I can print from MS word and other programs without a problem. I'm printing to an HP3800 and my OS is Win7.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I did the ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting photoshop. I also uninstalled the only plugin I had installed.
Below is the last bit of information from the Help -> System Info....
Plug-ins that failed to load: NONE
    Flash:
       Mini Bridge
       Kuler
       Access CS Live
       CS Review
       CS News and Resources
    Installed TWAIN devices: NONE
Guess it could be a font issue. What do you reccomend for font validation (OS win7)? Found this info on MS website. http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fontvalidator.mspx
NOTE: The proof I am currently trying to print is flat....
UPDATE: I am able to print the same document from CS6 on a mac without issue.

  • Why can't I print from CS5? Mac and Snow Leopard

I can't print from CS5. I have a Canon Pro 9000 MKII, and all drivers are up to date. Whenever I need to print I have to close the image and reopen it in CS4. I have an iMac running Snow Leopard and can print from all other programs.
When I do try to print from CS5, I get a dialog box (see attached). If I click the "Cancel" button (the only option) the print command in the menu is grayed out until I restart CS5. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

One other thing to try is changing the name of the printer queue, which may convince Photoshop and the system that it's a different printer, so old print settings will not be used.
Open your System Preferences, select "Print & Fax", and then select your printer.
Click the "Open Print Queue..." button. When that opens, select the "Printer Setup" icon (it should be rightmost in the top row), and then change the name of the printer. and OK.

  • Some Photoshop issues after upgrading from CS5 Master to CS5.5 Master

    Hello
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to the Adobe stuff. Not so with PC's
    Win 7 SP1 x64 8G RAM etc etc...
I have a CS5.5 Master License and it is the update from CS5 that has thrown a wrench into my works.
I had CS5 MAster Collection happily running along; no problems. I decided to buy the CS5.5 upgrade and I installed it in place.... that is, on top of the CS5 stuff.
    Now I have Photoshop problems;
    1.  The upgrade did not over-write my PS 5 directory... it created a PS5.1  Directory. D'oh! No plugins in PS5.1!! Not what I expected at all. I  just wanted it to upgrade. Is it normal for Adobe products to do this (the answer seems to be yes)  and if so how do I get my plugins in the new version? It's kind of a  pain... I have a lot of photoshop plugins... What do most users here do? Uninstall old versions first? Change the "plugins" path? I don't require the older version of PS5 on my hard drive... but now the plugs are in PS5 and the OS opens PS5.1... whoops!
    2. My  Photoshop printing broke in both versions 5 and 5.1. I am just using an  Epson 3880 and when I try to print in PS I get a message to the effect  that the printer is no longer available (it is) and it's the wrong  profile... trouble is... the Printer menu item then becomes greyed  out... I can't change anything. Can't fix. Does that ring a bell with anyone? This seems to be related to the upgrade. My Lightroom 3.x still prints the exact same photo with the same profile and printer just fine.
So.... If  anyone can shed some light on these two specific issues I would really  appreciatte it! and with so many pieces (it is a huge Suite) would I be better  off un-installing CS5 and then installing CS 5.5? What are the hardcore  adobe users thoughts on best practices for upgrades?
    Thanks a ton! -- David

    1. Yes, Adobe apps always install in new folders.
    2. Try the Photoshop forum for Photoshop specific questions.
Most of the apps weren't really upgraded. The .1 releases just added CS services as far as I know.
I just built a new machine and installed InDesign CS5 and then installed the CS5.5 Master Collection. Your needs may vary.

  • Interactive pdf from CS5 won't work on Adobe Digitial Editions

I am an ebook publisher creating enhanced ebooks with video, using CS5 to produce interactive pdfs. These work fine on Reader 9, but why won't they work on Digital Editions? This is crucial if they are to be delivered online.

I totally agree with vivrainbow. there is absolutely no point at all in creating an ebook reader if it is not going to display an ebook correctly. It's a complete debacle.
I've just started experimenting with pdf from CS5.5 and found that a pdf which displays and works perfectly in Adobe Reader, does not do so in ADE (and i hate the way ADE displays a watermark which is set to only show at print).
And writing off this complaint as "actually rather special" is actually rather ridiculous. ebook publishers are not in control of the software their end users choose. if someone has a bad experience reading an ebook in ADE they are just as likely to blame it on a crappy ebook file rather than ****** software.

  • Can't add HP Photosmart C310a

I have an HP Photosmart C310a all-in-one. I'm running a MacBook pro with Yosemite, also a compaq notebook with Windows 7.
The problem is that the printer can't be added to any computer in the house. I have tried resetting the network settings and I still can't see the printer to add to my printer list. There is one other printer in the house which is on the same network and works perfectly fine.
Any hep would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey @ronjoe1 ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
Have you hooked up the Photosmart to the wireless network? If you can't see it on either computer it is 1 of 2 things.
    1. The printer isn't connected to the network.
    2. The printer's internal modem is broken and you can't connect it to the router anymore and therefore you can't see it on the network.
Please let me know if the printer is connected on the network.
    Have a great day.
    I worked for HP.

As far as i know I'm using Adobe Java 7. None of my CS5 suite works anymore............and i really dont want to upgrade to a monthly cloud service fee as i hate this policy with a passion.

This goes for Dreamweaver CC on Mavericks!!!!! THANK YOU!
I couldn't launch Dreamweaver CC. An error told me to install "java se 6 runtime". But when I clicked  OK I got another error telling me there is a network problem! I found this forum post on CS6 products, so I tried the download link, installed java 6 and presto, it worked! Thanks!

  • Upgrade paths from cs5 to cs5.5

    Hello,
I just got off the phone with customer service. I upgraded from CS4 to CS5 in late December. I would like to upgrade InDesign from CS5 to the 5.5 version. I was told this isn't an option because I own the suite.
This perplexes me since I have purchased many, many single items from Adobe in the past--from Pagemaker 3 pretty much on. Is it really true that once I went to CS2 I abandoned my rights to upgrade individual products?
It seems a bit unreasonable, after spending $600 at the end of last year, that now, three months later, I need to spend another $400 just to update one program. Am I missing something?
I am posting here because the representative I spoke with had a really, really hard time understanding English and I'm not sure he even got my question. It took him over a half hour just to find my account and verify that I had a registered version of Design Premium. He told me that part of the problem was that I have purchased so many Adobe (and Macromedia) products over the past 15 years that I now have four accounts and that it was not possible to consolidate all my software under one single account. This also sounds very odd. HELP!
    Thanks!
    Ruth

I looked into crossgrading. The whole thing was a comedy of errors. My new custom built super-charged PC developed an un-diagnoasable software error, and then got stolen after being sent in for repaired. At the time, it seemed like my best option was to start the migration from Windows, buy a Mac laptop, get software to run on it, yet still keep my Windows options open in case the PC was found. I was using a backup PC to keep work on schedule.
I used one of my Macromedia cross-platform suite products to upgrade to the Mac CS3 suite. So it wasn't as expensive as it could have been. In hindsight, yes, I should have just abandoned the PC and crossgraded. But I was very fearful after all the computer issues I had encountered that I would have problems with one or the other of the two computers and I felt I needed some redundancy just to ensure I didn't have more downtime.
I'll look through the Adobe site for a license transfer form. When I called several months ago, the agent, made it sound like these were very difficult to come by. Or perhaps, the agent just didn't know. I've ran into this several times with Adobe. One agent tells you one thing, another says something entirely different. Customer service is lacking in my opinion.

  • Photoshop CS6 issue with shortcuts and my keyboard after upgrade from CS5

I recently upgraded from CS5 Extended to CS6 Extended on my Mac (Mavericks), but installed it in English instead of German this time. I transferred most of my presets just fine, but none of the keyboard shortcuts were working. All I got was an unequal sign for all shortcuts and even manually changing them didn't get them to work. I found a few discussions about this issue and ended up adding a German keyboard, as I am always on the Romaji setting of my Kotoeri (Japanese) keyboard. That seemed to solve the issue, but only if I change to the German keyboard before opening Photoshop. Shortcuts don't work in CS5 anymore either unless I do. Sometimes the shortcuts also stop working a while after I change back to the Kotoeri keyboard.
Now I would like to know if there is any way to get around this issue. Isn't there a way to get my shortcuts working again without constantly having to change keyboards? I much prefer the Kotoeri one since the icon for the German keyboard in my menu bar looks extremely obnoxious, in my opinion. It's mostly a cosmetic thing to me, but I would love to get everything back to the way it was before.
I'd much appreciate any advice or help.

I am having a similar problem. Just upgraded to Apple Yosemite and all none of my keyboard shortcuts are working in a clean install of Photoshop CS6. Every menu item has some form of the ≠ sign. I've trashed the .plist file, rebuilt permissions, etc. Even basic keyboard commands, like Command-N for NEW or Command-Q for QUIT do not work. In fact, many don't show up in the menu at all. I don't have this issue in InDesign CS6 or Illustrator CS6. Every once in awhile, maybe 1 time out of 20, menus and keyboard shortcuts work properly, but I can't find any pattern.

  • Mini Bridge Layout Changes from CS5.5 to CS6

I recently upgraded from CS5.5 to CS6 on my work PC and I noticed a real annoying change with the layout of the Mini Bridge, specifically in InDesign. I was really hoping (and praying) that there would be a way to get the layout back to the way it was in CS5.5.
When the Mini Bridge is open the way it used to be was split at the top with the left side with favorites and the right side with a file navigator. The favorites portion was always there and did not disappear when you clicked on a folder, rather it just loaded the file list up in the bottom portion of the window. I REALLY miss that. Now in CS6 there is a drop down bar that is a pain to use and navigate through and when you click on the favorites (or any other option) it loads into the only navigation bar when you click on a folder it does not display the folders inside of it, instead just files in the folder.
Is there any way to get the Mini Bridge back to the original way? Is there an option I can click to get it to display the favorites list at all times and go back to the way it worked in CS 5.5?
    Adobe CS 5.5 mini Bridge - <a href="http://dsmy2muqb7t4m.cloudfront.net/tuts/000_2010/347_a_look_inside_indesign_cs5/t2 8.jpg"><a href="http://dsmy2muqb7t4m.cloudfront.net/tuts/000_2010/347_a_look_inside_indesign_cs5/t2 8.jpg"><span class="mceItemHidden"><a href="http://dsmy2muqb7t4m.cloudfront.net/tuts/000_2010/347_a_look_inside_indesign_cs5/t2 8.jpgPlease">http://dsmy2muqb7t4m.cloudfront.net/tuts/000_2010/347_a_look_inside_indesign_ cs5/t28.jpg</span> Please
    Please Help!

I've found mini bridge is unusable when it is docked. If you float it then favorites is on the left.
Sounds like you are describing the docked version:

  • Migrating settings, actions, plug-ins etc. from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud)

    Hi,
I wondered if someone could help me with the transition from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud). I'm on a Mac with Mountain Lion.
I would like to migrate as many settings (i.e. workspaces where relevant), personal Photoshop actions, plug-ins (i.e. Type DNA, FontShop [Photoshop], Scriptographer [Illustrator] and Blurb Template Creator [InDesign]) as possible from CS5 to CS6. What is the easiest and smoothest way to do this?
Some settings, actions and plug-ins might not work with CS6, I don't know. I can't find where my Photoshop actions are archived atm.
Can I import extensions from Adobe Extension Manager CS5 to Adobe Extension Manager CS6?
Should I uninstall all CS5 apps? I'd like to keep InDesign CS5 for backwards compatibility at least.
Does Audition completely replace Soundbooth? What about Flash Catalyst, Device Central and OnLocation?
Edit: I have already installed all the Creative Cloud applications btw. But I haven't uninstalled any CS5 apps yet.
    Thanks,
    Eivind

    Hi Elvind,
I would suggest keeping both CS5 and CS6 versions on the system until you are fully transitioned, longer if you want. When you launch Photoshop CS6 it will ask you if you want to import settings from the prior version. Third party plug-ins may or may not be compatible between versions so you might need to check with the manufacturer to find out. You would most likely need to reinstall any third party plug-ins that integrate into existing Adobe product installations though.
I found this document for Photoshop CS6
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preset-migration-photoshop-cs6.htm l
For the PS actions, I normally open the actions panel, highlight the actions set (folder) I wanted to migrate, from the flyout menu of the panel choose the option to save the set, this creates the .atm file. There is another option for importing actions in the same menu.
I can't speak to migrating in relation to the other products. I would recommend posting in the respective product forums.
