Printing from file manager in Solaris 10

Is is possible to print from file manager in Solaris 10, I can print from the command line but not from file manager, when I try there is no output lpstat shows nothing and no error messages. Latest patches are applied as of 14/04/08.

I've found I can print as root but a user can't, wondering if there are any special privilages, I've found an allow and deny command but they can print from the command line so not sure this will fix the problem

Windows 8 and IE 10 crashed after printing from Report Manager SQL server 2008 / 2008 R2

We have a problem with Windows 8 in combination with IE 10 and printing reports.
When we print a report from the Report Manager 'http://<servername>/reports' the browser crashed after a print.
Sometimes before printing and somthimes after printing or when you close the browser.
Al other operating systems like XP, Vista, Windows 7 with different IE versions have no problem.
I tried the report manager from SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
The same error occured when printing from our Internet application and the reportviewer.
(ASP application written in Visual Studio 2010 and reportviewer version 10.)

Thank you for your response. Your answer was the
reason for finding the real problem.
In december 2010 a SQL Server 2008 fix was the cause. I don't remember exactly the problem, but we changed the RSCLIENTPrint-x86.cab file. But instead to use the version of SQL Server 2008 we used the version of SQL Server 2008
R2 (10.50.1600.1). This worked until
Windows 8 (Internet Explorer crashed when printing).
We fixed this problem by using the RSClientPrint-x86.cab file from SQL server 2008 (10.0.5500.0).
But we now get the known problem that the
activeX always must be installed again.
The reason for this is that the version of
the SQL Server (10.0.5512.0)
and the rsclientprint.dll (10.0.5500.0) is different. SQL Server is newer (caused
by a security patch (KB2716436)).
Do you know when this problem will be resolved
by Microsoft?
Work arrounds
I've also tried to install the RSClientprint.dll
every time automatically (without user interaction).
But this will be delayed the printing for more
than 4 seconds. This
is very annoying.
Another workaround is to generate a PDF and print the PDF. But this is also
a lot slower.
Uninstall the security patch. but I don't know the security risk.

Printing from SJSE 8 on Solaris?

How is one printing from anywhere in SJSE 8? For example I would like to print the source code from one of the document windows. When I bring up the print dialog, the print service name is displayed as "destination" and status as "Not accepting jobs". The name drop down shows no printers and the properties button is grayed out. How do you specify which printer to print to?
This is on Solaris 10 X86 and SJSE 8.
I am new to both the IDE and Solaris so I kind of stuck here.

The query to obtain the list of available printers seems to use system calls. On solaris, this would mean printers must be specified in the .printers file in the home directory or in /etc/printers.conf. (man printers)
On my solaris sparc system, i have a file called .printers in my home directory which has a line like the following:
_default printer1
The ide displays 'printer1' as the destination printer in this case.
Can you check your ${HOME}/.printers file (and create one if it does not exist)?
BTW, the properties button may be greyed out even for an existing printer, if the printer does not support the functionality.

Can't see files on MAC from File Manager on Passport

Don't know if this is truly a Link issue, but in File Manager on the Passport (both in 10.3.0 and 10.3.1.1581) I have the option of selecting either of my Mac's (both Yosemite, both on the same network) in the device menu. However no amount of waiting ever shows files on the computer.
This is such a great feature it would be great if it worked.
If I create a folder in the Passport on the Mac, I can see that. If I add files to it on the Passport or the Mac I can see them.
I have removed all the folders in Link and re-added them. I initially started with having my Home open, but also tried just Documents folder, or Music. Same result. The only difference is where the test folder is created on the Mac when I add a folder on the Passport.
Are there settings on the Mac to allow this?

Both Macs on Yosemite. Have not been successful at loading on old XP computer as it creates a VPN connection which will not connect to the Internet.
I did notice on the Mac that I now have a new admin user - access-bpf. Don't know what this is I did not add it and I am the administrator. I added it to the file sharing user list with full access, but no difference. So I removed it from the access list - no difference. So I then removed the account - no difference.

File deleted from file manager

By mistake I deleted a file from phone memory in the file manager. Is to important to have all the orgianal files in the file manager or do I reload the software. What do I do. i have a E 7.

Is this a personal data file you deleted (e.g. a text file, picture, etc.) or just some random Nokia file? If it's the latter, do you remember the name or location of the file? (Nokia's File Manager gives you access to only a small subset of the data on the phone, making it generally very safe.) If your phone still works normally, I wouldn't worry about the loss. I have never used an E7, but the phone memory on my E73 contains only a few log files and remnants of system .sis files that my phone will never miss.
If you've accidentally deleted a personal file from the phone memory and don't have a backup, then you may be out of luck. I am not aware of a "file undelete" utility for Nokia phones.

Viewing images from file manager in C5-00.

When I open an image in file manager it does not open. An image viewer opens but does not display the image. Then I've to restart the phone to get rid of image viewer from open apps. Does anyone has the same problem? Any solutions? Firmware version: 071.005

Does any image cause this (including camera pictures), or just some? Do the images display normally in Gallery? What about images stored on the phone (temporarily change the camera's memory setting and snap a photo) vs. on the memory card? For this test, you may want to temporarily remove the memory card.
I am hoping you'll find that images stored on the phone display everywhere 100% normally, which would mean some corruption on the card. If so, back up any important card data, connect the phone to a computer with USB and Mass Storage mode (or use a separate card reader), and check the card for errors in the same way you would check the hard drive. If the computer can find and fix the problems, then hopefully the issues are solved. If not, you may need to reformat the card (as FAT32). Worst case scenario is that the card could be going bad. I hope that helps!

Well just use the PPF functionality where you define Action Profiles and Actions, and then assign each Action Profile to a case type.

WebDAV access from File Manager gone from Belle

The Files (formerly File Manager) app has been stripped of its WebDAV feature.
For me, this is a big inconvenience, as it means that N8, E6, 701 now has no built-in means of exchanging files with our home Synology NAS box. (AFAIK, Belle has no FTP, NFS or AFP client "out of the box" or available in the Store, and I'd have to cough up £3 for MyExplorer to add a Windows file-sharing (SMB) client to N8, E6, 701 etc.)
I don't know if anyone involved with Belle on the Nokia side, reads this forum, but after asking them why they felt they had to remove a genuinely-useful feature, I would plead with them either to restore the WebDAV client functionality to Files, or provide a separate app to enable some kind of file-sharing (WebDAV, SMB, FTP, whatever).
If I have to pay for a third-party client to give me this functionality, no problem, then so be it, but I do have to ask why a 2012 smartphone platform is shipping without a single means of exchanging files over a network (and I don't count USB or Bluetooth file-transfer). For that matter: does anyone know why WebDAV was removed from Files?
Maybe I'm the only user who even noticed that WebDAV was gone, but I just had to "vent" a bit...

Unfortunately, myExplorer does not support WebDAV. However you can still connect remotely to your NAS or other file server in two ways:
    A. By forwarding the SMB port in your router.This is easy to setup but it is not very secure. While authentication information (user name and password) is protected, as they are never transmitted unencrypted, the rest of the traffic will go over unsecured connection. Here is what you have to do for this to work:
    1. Forward port 445 (or 139) on the file server (or NAS) in your router to another port (for example 22678 - the number is not important, what is important is to write it down for later).
    2. Create a new network share in myExplorer and type the external IP address of your router in the field "Computer IP address). If your external IP address is dynamic and you are using some kind of dynamic DNS, instead of IP address, please fill the DNS name of the router in the field "Computer DNS name".
    3. Fill in the port number from step 1 in the field "Port number"
    4. Select "Always ask" as access point because you may need to use different access points depending on your current physical location (3G on the road or Wi-Fi in the office, etc.).
    5. Please note that you will have to add exception to your firewall for port 445 or 139 as most firewalls block the ports 445 and 139 when the other IP address is not local. This is true even for the built-in firewall in Windows.
    B. By using VPN network. This method is better from security point of view but it requires more work to setup. First you need to setup a VPN network from your phone to the LAN where the NAS is located. This can be done in few different ways and the concrete steps depend on what kind of VPN you are using. After you have working VPN, all you need to do is this:
    1. Fill in the NetBIOS name or the (local, not external) IP address of the computer.
    2. Select the created VPN access point as the access point for this network share.
    Please note that both methods above require some knowledge about the networks. We are planning to create a tutorial, which explains the needed steps but it is not ready yet.

We just upgraded to Adobe elements 12 -
In doing so - one of the files that I have been working on for months didn't totally convert over...so in file manager I have 450 pics...in the same folder in Adobe I have 54 pics..how do I get these all imported correctly?

Which operating system are you using?
If your using mac os x 10.6 (snow leopard) or windows xp or vista, then the below solution will not work and you shouldn't try to install the dng converter 8.5
You could use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your files to dng copies which should then open in pse 10.

Problem with printing from file to printer

I've been having problems printing more than one page of text from a file to a specified printer in addition to the fact that the number of pages the print dialog says are to be printed is always 9999! I have tried overriding functions from Pageable too, which gave me problems. I tried making the pageIndex more than one page, but it just prints out blank pages after the first, even if there is more data in the file that should have been printed. Here is my code, and if someone could give me some helpful advice I would very much appreciate it! (Thanks in advance for your advice!)

Well, I changed some things around, and assuming that in a file around 45 lines is a normal page, I am able to get the right amount of pages to be displayed in the dialog and to print, but still, the first page is printed fine and the rest are blank. I am baffled as to what I'm doing wrong. Printing to a printer should not be this hard to do! I have also noticed that many other people have had the same problem, but with no solutions. I am using the jdk 1.3.1 - is that a problem? Here is my new code and if anyone can propose a solution to the blank pages problem I would be very grateful!

Printing from call manager

I like to print the help screens and also print the screen displays while in Call Manager. The network engineer did not recommend this. We tried it anyway - we added a driver and defined a printer but sometimes it would cause the IExplorer to spike the CPU up to 100 percent. Any suggestions on how to print?

Not sure why you need to be on the server it self to do screen captures. Everything is doen through the Web interface.
From your desktop, load a program that captures screen shots. I use "screenhunter" I can press F6, crop the picture and save it and one click to a designated folder. I have created a couple docs for my clients this way, not having to be on the server at all.
Remember, the console at the server for CCM, you should hardly ever have to log into for day to day administration. Everything is done through IE at your own computer.
Loading other software, print drivers, etc onto CCM is probably not supported by TAC anyways.

Moving pics from file manager to albums?

Hi guys
Im getting so fustrated with this. This seems simple but i dont know why I cannot do this
I have pics from my computer which it lets me copy to my phone, but it wont let me copy it from my phones memory to an album? I try and just drag and drop the picture to an album in my phone but it wont let me
Can anyone help or tell me whats going wrong here

You don't say what phone you are using, but I'm guessing it's a recent S60 smartphone.
You can't drag/drop into albums because the albums are not folders on the memory, they are databases. The only way to add them to albums is to get them to the phone, then go through "Photos" or "Gallery"*, select the photos by going Options>Mark/unmark>Mark multiple**, then select Options>add to album and select the album.
You cannot normally add files into the Download or Captured albums, they are usually reserved for the phone to use for images downloaded from the internet or from messages, and captured with the camera.
*The name is sometimes different depending on model
**if your phone doesn't have the mark multiple option, you'll have to select files by going Options>Mark/unmark>Mark
