PRINTING FROM FIREFOX I GET BLACK LETTERS ON A BLACK BACKGROUND WHICH IS UNREADABLE. WHY?

I have very low vision so I have the screen colors in Firefox set to black background with white letters. When printing anything from anywhere in Firefox, web site screen or this screen, I will get a black piece of paper. It prints the black screen background but prints black letters on it which is unreadable. It also wastes lots of ink. I cannot use anything with a white (or light colored) background, I am so dazzled bu the screen that I can't see anything.
It would be useful if the printing output colors could be set to ignore any special colors set on the screen.
I have the same problem with Thunderbird. I can't print my emails.

  • When printing from Firefox I get random letters, numbers, boxes.

    This happens when I print from email and Firefox. Sometimes I get the random letters, numbers and boxes with a small phrase with correct spelling. For example, this happened when I tried to fill out a US passport form. The form itself was okay. What I typed in printed with the random letters, numbers, boxes except for my husband's occupation. That printed okay.

    How do I do a screenshot? Sorry, I am not very computer literate.
    Another problem. Since I changed to UTF 16BE we no longer can access our bank account. It allows us to log in but goes to the squares, letters, and numbers when we open the account statement. I am not sure what the code was before I switched to UTF 16 BE.

  • Emails printed from FIREFOX have spaces between letters

    Same email printed from INTERNET EXPLORER prints fine
    A document in WORD prints fine
    Has been working fine for weeks; just today, received an email, printed it (on FIREFOX) and got spaces between letters - spread out (UNREADABLE)
    Tried a few other emails, same thing happened
    An older email I had printed previously, that had printed fine, I printed again today: and it printed with spaces between letters.
    I've reset settings - problem still occurs
    Please advise

    That is caused by a Bug in Firefox 4.0b12. It was fixed in Monday's Minefield nightly 4.0b13pre development version. The fix will be in the Firefox 4.0 Release Candidate.

  • I cannot print from Firefox, keep getting "an unknown error occurred while printing."

    Whenever I attempt to print something from Firefox (email, receipt, and so on), printing fails and I get the message "an unknown error occurred while printing." Printing from Internet Explorer works without any problem.

    I came across the same problem today, also using a 2600N. Window updated the drivers through a Windows update yesterday, so I suspect that's what caused the problem since it was working fine before.
    I tried the reset in about:config and that didn't do jack, but I was able to solve it by removing the printer with device manager and then disconnecting it from my PC, plugging it back in, and letting Windows reconfigure it automatically. It works now.
    Good luck

  • Nothing happens when I attempt to print from Firefox. I have no such problems with IE or Chrome. Why can't I print?

    Whenever I try to print from FF, nothing happens, no error messages and no printing. If I go to the same page using Chrome, I have no problems. Should I uninstall and reinstall FF? If so, how can I export my bookmarks? Whenever I attempt to backup or export my current bookmarks using the instructions in the help file, I am told I have no bookmarks to export. Not true!

    I have tried resetting the printer options in about:config, reinstalling Firefox completely, and removing the printer-reboot-let Windows reinstall. Same error no matter what.

  • All of a sudden I can't print from Firefox. I reinstalled the printer and also reinstalled Firefox. No joy. I can print from Safari.

    I have an IMac, OS X 10.5.8
    I've had it for more than a year and have always been able to print from Firefox without a problem. I have an HP deskjet 6850 printer.
    Now I can't print from Firefox. When I hit print, I get the dialog box but if I click print -- or even click "preview" nothing happens. The dialog box disappears and nothing prints.

  • Cannot print from Firefox

    For some time now I cannot print from Firefox. I thought it might be a glitch after an update, but have updated again since and it still does not work. If I try to print to a printer, nothing happens. If choose print and then save to PDF it seems to work, but then when I try to open the file I get an error message from Adobe saying "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.". On the other hand, I can print and save to PDF from Safari without any problem. I am using Mac OSX 10.5.8, Firefox 6.0.2.
    Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
    Please do a CLEAN install:
    Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
    Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
    Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
    After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
    Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    Windows:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • I can't print from Firefox (on a MacBook) since I tried to instal the new version. How do I uninstall it (all components), and then reinstall?

    Can't print from Firefox - it crashes.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I upgraded ==
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.22.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Safari/531.22.7

    Also can't print from FF 3.6.12, but it doesn't crash. There's no error message, no job gets queued to the printer. Other applications (including Safari) print without a problem.

  • Printer prints fine from internet explorer but when i print from firefox it its grainy and unreadable

    Everytime i print from firefox my text looks grainy i can print from other internet web browsers such as internet explorer google chrome. I have tried resetting the printer defaults and settings through walkthroughs on here and i have tried the settings in the print menu what else can be done to fix this?

    Do you get the same issue if you try printing to a PDF printer driver -- is the output grainy in the PDF? If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat PDF software, here are some free PDF printer programs to consider:
    * PrimoPDF: http://www.primopdf.com/
    * PDF Creator: http://www.pdfforge.org/download
    (If you are viewing the information you want to capture inside Firefox, this add-on can capture it to PDF, although despite the name, this does not use Firefox printing so doesn't really address the question at hand: [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/print-pages-to-pdf/ Print pages to PDF].)
    Although it doesn't seem obvious, Firefox's option to use hardware graphics acceleration can affect fonts. Usually the problem is manifested on screen, but it might help to disable this feature and see whether it affects the printouts as well.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''gfx''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''gfx.direct2d.disabled''' to toggle its value from false to true (it should turn bold). ''This is the one for which there is a checkbox in the options dialog.''
    (4) Double-click '''gfx.content.azure.enabled''' to toggle its value from true to false (it should turn bold).
    You usually need to restart Firefox before this takes effect.
