Printing from forte

Hi there
We have the situation where we have a printer shared on NT 4.0 , the client
on windows 2000 (forte 3.0.L) .
When they go into forte and look for the default printer (through the forte
window - print setup) , there is no printer . Therefore if they try to print
they receive no printout .
There is a default printer and printing can be done from other applications
They go out of the forte application and back in and the printer is there
and printing works.
Has anybody experienced this ?

I encountered the same problem printing report with gray areas with Forte'
3.0.G. Your suggestion is really good.
We can't print our reports with a monitor resolution of 256 colors (gray
sessions are totally black) but we produced good reports with gray sessions
with monitor resolution of 65000 colors.

Hi,
I am asking this question on behalf of a friend of mine.
He has a Forte application that formats a report layout and prints to a
printer. When the monitor color is set at 256 colors, this report prints
out totally black. (It prints properly if the color is set to 16 bit). This
report uses about 10 arrays with about 15 records each. The really
interesting thing is that if he removes 9 of those arrays, the report
prints without a problem. He is suspecting memory problems but would like
to know if anybody else has encountered problems with their application
trying to print to a printer and the resolution, if any. He has installed
Forte 3.0.G.
Any help would be appreciated.

Print out Forte Arrays

Greetings All:
I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience printing out
Forte Arrays[screen tables] from the Forte Window it exists in.
Example:
A Forte window exists that contains Forte Arrays. I
want an option to either select from the pulldown
FILE menu or select a button which will automatically
print out the contents of that Forte Array.
Has anyone tried to resolve this kind of problem before?

Faxing from Forte

We have an application from which we'd like to send faxes. We would
ideally like to send in the fax number, recipient info, and maybe some
cover page text and have the fax go out automatically. Another requirement
is that we'd need to be able to do this over a network since only the
server will have a fax modem. I know that there are numerous fax software
packages out there that act as printers (under windows) where we could then
use the Forte printing facilities to send the fax. I'm not sure, however,
how we would go about passing in the parameters and having the fax go out
automatically. Usually a dialog box will come up allowing the user to
enter the fax #, etc.
Does anyone out there know of a good fax package that might support
something like this (maybe using OLE?) or one that has an API that we might
be able to hook into from Forte? If you have done this kind of thing
before in any manner I would also be interested in that.

fax system is GammaLink. They supply various types of fax boards and
development tool kits which can be called via from Forte via C API's. The
vendor URL is:

The fax clients containing the fax boards and GammaLink software can be
deployed on a Forte node over the network. The fax boards generally expect
to receive graphics in TIF3 graphics format, although other formats may be
possible via conversion capabilities within the product.
This may be overkill for what you are looking for, but it should be a good
source to get you started in the area of requirements and reference information.

Location where I am picking these 3:
navigation:select any AR responsibility
customer->standard(query with any customer)->customer address
we have enabled 'site use information' dff in customer address window, from this dff we are taking these 3 parameters.
reason to add these 3 parameters:
we cant treat all the customers same. so we need to send some smooth(no harsh) dunning letters to some of our most trusted customers. so how can we identify gud customers in the list.
so we have enabled site use information dff. those customers who is have values for these 3 parameters. will be treated as v good and reguler customers for us. so for them we can send other dunning letters.
note*: this is to identify the customers like reguler customers,non requler customers.
bez in spwaned program we have parameters like 1.customer low 2.customer high. thats it .so it is very difficult to find out the nature of customer.
pls advice me on this..to proceed further..

I can't print web pages since a recent upgrade to 4.01. The print command works but the page comes out empty. right now a copy the link to IE and print from there. HELP!

When printing from the mozilla 4.01 browser the printer spits out blank pages. It seems like it happened after downloading and running mozilla 4.01 browser.
I have to copy the link to IE (boo!) to print the coupon or page on my printer.
Why?

The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
"Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
You need to remove the checkmark on "Always use private browsing mode" to leave Private Browsing mode or chose the "Remember History" setting.

How can I print from the icon in FF5?

I have been unable to print from any of the icons in FF5. This has only occurred in the past few days. The only way I can print is to "Select" on the page, and then "Print Selection" on the print screen. I can print from IE by using the icons.
This is also true with my Yahoo email.

In Mac OS X, right-clicking the document's icon brings up a similar menu, but documents are printed from the application, not from the OS. The application is launched, the document opened,and the document sent to the printer, bypassing only the Print dialogue.
The same route may be triggered by dragging and dropping the file's icon onto the printer's icon in the Dock.

I can no longer print from a website. I can from other browsers but not Mozilla. Help

I used to be able to print any time I needed to. Then the print became so small I could not read it. Then the pages I printed from the website, printed blank pages. I contacted Thunderbird because this was first noted on email when I tried to print something from a website, they told me it was a Mozilla problem. So I then tried to print straight from the website and got the same thing. Nothing. The page is completely blank when printed.

These suggestions are not the problem and I have contacted HP and they have run all the diagnostics and they say the problem is not with the printer or the software. All other browsers print, just not Mozilla

MFP M127fn connected, test printing OK, can't print from applications

Hello Everyone!
I have just set up my M127fn via USB on a Windows 8 system. The set up went fine. I have a small stack of test pages from the HP software, but it won't print anything from any applications like MSOffice. The HP diagnostic software (Print and Scan Doctor 4.6) can communicate with the printer and everything checks out OK.
Any suggestions?

Can't print from iBook G4 via Windows XP to an HP PSC 1410

I realize this question is very similar to others on this discussion but I haven't been able to find an answer to my problem.
I cannot print from my iBook via XP to an HP PSC 1410.
I can print from my iBook via XP to an HP LaserJet 4L.
I was able to print from my iBook via XP to an HP882C that was connected
to the same USB port that the HP PSC 1410 is connected to now.
I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.3
I have a PC running XP with an HP LaserJet 4L on a parallel port and an HP PSC 1410 on a USB port.

I think I correctly followed the instructions at:

They worked for the LaserJet printer.
When I attempt to print from the iBook to the 1410 the HP doesn't print at all.
I don't see any error messages on the iBook. The document gets spooled onto the Windows print spooler, the printer even starts making noises, the print heads move about a bit and then stop. The print job just sits there in the queue with a status of "Printing". The print job is then stuck and hard to delete.
I don't need to be able to scan or check ink levels from the iBook.
I would just like to be able to do color printing.
What else should I try? Given the symptoms where might I be going wrong?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi all,
I finally figured out what the issue was, Why it fixes it I can not say,
but it does.
On the Shared printer on the Windows side, go to the properties of the Printer.
Go to the Ports tab, and deselect the "Enable bidirectional Support" (do not
have it checked). Once this is done and you also do not have any firewalls
setup on the Windows machine (Windows, MCAfee, Norton, ....). You should be
able to print.
Finally!!!!! I hope this helps many many people. As I have had many
people asking for the solution if I found it.

Wireless printing problem with hp officejet 100 mobile printer from win 7 dell laptop

My hp officejet 100 mobile printer was working fine with my dell XPS 15 in bluetooth wirelessly until my laptop crashed. Now I can not get it to print internet info except with hard wire connection. Page loads half way and then stops. Must shut down laptop and shut off printer or hard wire and shut off bluetooth. down loaded lastest drivers to no avail. printer will print from cell phone and win 8 computer via bluetooth but not win 7 laptop.

Sorry you are having problems with printing from the internet. I have a few more questions to ask you before I can be of much assistance.
What web-browser are you using?
Do you have any problems printing from Word or other non-internet documents?
What did you do to fix your computer (system restore, clean install of the OS, etc)?
Have you tried an alternate web-browser?
Make sure to install all of your Microsoft updates to see if that helps. Otherwise, answer those questions for me please and I will be happy to help.

How do I select a thick paper to print from Indesign? I have to go to the printer to select the thicker paper. I would like to select the paper from my computer in Indesign. Other programs allow this.

At the bottom of the print dialog box is a button labeled Printer. That will lead you to the printer-specific options like paper weight.

HP PhotoSmart 6520, Printer offline, Wireless printing from Windows 8.1 and others

My parents own an HP PhotoSmart 6520. They have 3 or 4 computers. 1 Is connected to this printer via USB cable. 3 Are "connected" over wireless. The printer has the latest firmware updates according to checks from the printer front display.
Problem is this:
1) When first starting the printer, and the printer gets on the wifi network, all wifi-available devices can print to it over wifi. We are also able to browse to the printer config web pages to see status, and change configs as needed.
2) After about 5 minutes of printer inactivity, all wireless clients can't print to the printer to print, and can't connect to the printer's web page. (The printer appears to be offline to each OS that uses WiFi to get Internet access.
3) If we visit the printer control screen, physically attached to the pinter, find the network configuration, and choose to "turn off" wifi at the printer, then after off, "turn on" wifi and see an IP address get assigned, then all WiFi machines can print to the printer over WiFi. However, after 5 minutes, again, the printer is offline. No matter what or how much each WiFi-based machine sends to their printer queue/spool, the printer remains offline.
4) If the USB-connected machine prints to the printer over USB, the printer once again becomes available over the wireless network.
The work-around is terrible. (Cycle WiFi access every time they need to print from Wireless devices.)
Things we have tried:
1) This is running the latest firmware according to the WebService section request to check for upgrades. They are on the latest according to the results. (no help)
2) DHCP was the initial config for network settings. I moved to a DHCP server configuration with static IP served by printer MAC address. (No help)
3) I switched to totally static IP address, thinking it might be a DHCP lease-time/renewal issue, or custom vendor string issues or bug. (no help)
4) Enabled/Disabled IPv6 even though they are on a NAT-ed network with only IPv4 support. (no help)
5) Visited printer config with web broswer, and change energy saver setting from "5 minutes" to "15 minutes" because the ~5 minute window seemed like an approximate time limit. (No help)
6) Enable/Disable other settings through the web and restart the printer. (No help.)

In testing this, with static IP or not, from other machines, when we can print over WiFi to the printer, the IPv4 address is ping-able from peers on the network. After ~5 minutes pass, and the pinter goes "offline" there are no ping replies to the static or other IP address assigned to this printer. By all accounts, when the printer is "offline" it really is no longer on the WiFi network. Meanwhile, oter devices can ping each other. (All computers, smartphones, tablets, etc can all respond to ping.)
None of the other devices suffer from dropped access to the WiFi and Internet.
Suggestions?
I do not have access to this right now, but I can walk my parents through whatever steps are needed to resolve this.

1) When online, generating report, reports online
2) When offline, report reports that it is still associated with access point
3) Printer is about 2 feet away from the access point it is communicating with and has max-bars showing signal strength.
4) Channel allocation for WiFi was selected based on least used channel, and works very well for all other devices on this channel.
5) There is only one accesspoint with the name it associates with.
6) The only options for power-saving "auto-off" we see via web pages from printer are: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes, and changing to 15 minutes does not allow the printer to remain online for 14 minutes -- it still goes offline to the network after ~5 minutes -- even agfter changing this settings and power cycling the printer.
7) No wireless extender is being used.
8) We tried static IP, Dynamic IP, and statically assigned DHCP served IP.
Once printer is "offline" when visiting printer to tell printer to disable WiFi access, then re-enable it, all machines with items in their printer queue/spool *immediately* de-queue/de-spool their printer jobs to the printer.

I see you are using a Hot Spot, I believe we have found the reason for the connectivity issues. There may be a setting that needs to manually configured for the Hotspot to 'allow' your printer access. Also, hotspots may have limitations and restrictions that may cause connectivity issues.
Take a look here: Setting up the Printer as a HotSpot, it shows a Laserjet but the same steps apply.
Keep in mind that Hotspot connections are 'best effort' connections due to the issues of inconsistencies within the connection. They are not routers. Therefore, you may experience issues in the future when using the Hotspot for your connection. Usually a powercycle or hard reset of the HotSpot will resolve such issues.
I would not recommend getting another Hot Spot as the connection is not guaranteed, you could however try a Wireless Router if you are looking to upgrade anyways.
