Printing from IE8 6 bit

I am using the 64bit version of IE8 and am unable to print anything from a web page. I googled the problem and found a solution, namely, to turn off Protected Mode in the IE security settings.
Whilst this indeed works I am uneasy about working in this mode. Is HP producing drivers for the 64 bit version of IE8?
My printer is the F2480.

There are no Vista 64 bit drivers listed. Just 32 bit.

  • Printing from a 32 bit client in a 64 bit environment (laserjet 4000 n with windows 7)

I have a HP laserjet 4000n connected to a 64 bit windows 7 machine.  Another client (32 bit) on my network wants to print to that printer.  I saw on the support website instructions for how to do this:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=...
So far, I have installed the 64 bit driver (just re-installed and I can print from the 64 bit server).
I then downloaded the 32 bit driver files (for PCL 5) and saved them.
I then went to the printing properties of  the printer and chose advanced drivers and checked the box "x86". The instructions called for finding the file "hpcuXXXc.inf".  In the printer driver folder, there were 2 subfolders - one marked 64 bit and inside that folder was a file "hpcu112t.inf" (file ends in "t" not "c") - so I chose that file and pressed ok and got the following error message:
The specified location does not contain the driver HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL5 for the requested processor architecture.
I then downloaded more drivers (for PCL 6 - even though my printer is labelled PCL 5).  This time, I got no 64 bit subfolder (only one folder labelled windows vista).  However , there WAS a file labelled "hpcu112c" this time - so I chose that and still got the same error message.
    Help!?
    Thanks.

    Phychopomp1,
Windows 7 64 bit is able to run 32 bit programs. However, some programs will have issues.
Have you checked your programs against the Windows 7 compatibility list: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=2394
This should tell you if they are compatible or not with Windows 7 64-bit.
There are compatibility settings that you can try once you have installed the software also. Right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then go to the compatibility tab and try the various OS settings.
If those things fail, then you should try Windows XP Mode (convenience link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). This will allow you to install your programs in a virtual copy of Windows XP SP3 using Windows Virtual PC. Once XP Mode is installed, when you install your software into it, you will get a shortcut to use the program from your Windows 7 start menu without even seeing the XP Mode window.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I wirelessly print from a 64-bit Windows 7 laptop to a printer on a 32-bit Vista laptop?

My DeskJet 722c is connected to my 32-bit Vista computer.  I would like to print documents out on the printer from my 64-bit HP ProBook S-series laptop, which is running on Windows 7.  I can do this if I disconnect the printer from the 32-bit computer running on Vista and connect it to the computer running Windows 7.  But I don't want to go through the hassel.  How do I connect to the printer from my Windows 7 computer, going through my Local Area Network?  Do I need to install a Windows 7 driver on my Vista machine?  Do I need to install a driver for Vista on my Windows 7 machine?   If so, how do I do this?   I'm confused

  • Acrobat X Std does not print from IE8 menu, rt click works...

    Weird.
I can't print an embedded PDF in IE8 going through File, Print. Nothing happens. There is no error, the thing just disappears.
File, Print Preview shows the frame images, but not the embedded PDF. I can, however, right click on the embedded PDF and select Print from that menu and it prints properly.
Acrobat Standard 10.1, Win7 x64 Ent, IE8, all updates are current for all items.

The x64 version may be the issue. Even AA X is a 32-bit application I think. That may mean it does not show up in the 64-bit environment. At least that is a thought you might pursue, not that I really know what I am talking about for 64-bit machines.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro freezes at the attempt to print from IE8

    Hi,
I have reoccurring problem with printing to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.2 (apparently the newest) from various IE8 web pages. Every now and than the little window showing the progress of printing just freezes and the only way to get forward is to end process (using Task Manager) of the printing (adobe) and IE8, (which gets stuck at the same time as well).
Just few minutes ago I just tried to do the same on Equity Thought website from my account and it repeated the same trouble.
I have cleared all temp files and rebooted and tried again, this time switching IE8 to compatibility mode prior, and result is the same. New Adobe Acrobat is failing to print to PDF from some websites and I am unable to find solution on my own.
I have browsed Interent and it appers I am not alone in this problem. IE8 seems to provide a lot of trouible to users of Adobe Acrobat software. However I was unable to find any solution for my case.
On the other PC, where I have still Acrobat Pro 7.1.0 I do not have any problem with printing to PDF. IE8 does not need to be in compatibility mode for this.
Both PC are on Win XP pro with SP3.
So I would assume this is not MS software problem but Adobe.
    Therefore my query is:
Is anyone familiar with this type of problem and knows where to look for solution, or maybe even knows what the solution could be, please.

No, I do not think I used Adobe PDF Maker before.
I use only Adobe PDF printer that is created during the install (in my case it came with CS3).
The “freeze” happens when the little window called “creating Adobe PDF” comes on and blue progress indicator starts moving to the right. Somewhere past half way it just gets stuck and I can wait one, two, three or more minutes and nothing will happen. Hide button sometimes works and sometimes does not. In any way after that everything freezes (means Acrobat and IE8 stuff) and the only way to clean it is to use Task Manager to end processes.
I use Acrobat extensively to print from web, from AutoCAD and from all MS Office applications for last nine ten years (since Acrobat 4) and this is first time I have any trouble.
What do you mean by "new hook"?
Why would it affect Acrobat 9 and not version 7?

  • How do I print from a 64-bit client to 32-bit printer?

My company just bought 2 new pcs, 3120MT and they are 64bit windows 7 Pro. Since there's just one printer in the office, it's connected to a Windows XP Pro 32bit machine. How do I get my new pcs to print from the network to that machine?
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Sharing from Windows XP to any newer OS might do you a problem, as the host PC's OS have drivers for older operating systems only.
The easiest way would be to share it from the Windows7 to the Windows XP
We can try setting the sharing manually by using an alternative driver, However, you will have to provide me your exact printer model in order to provide you any possible steps to try.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.

  • Acrobat Professional 7.0 hanging when printing from IE8 (Vista)

Hello.  I've done my best to troubleshoot on my own but am encontering problems when trying to print a document from within Internet Explorer 8 on a PC running 32-bit Vista.
Mind you I can print as I always have from any other browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera) without problem, but whenever I attempt to print any item to PDF using the installed Adobe PDF printer driver, the document simply sits in the printer spool queue with an "Error - Printing" status.  I have no problems whatsoever printing to PDF from any other application (Word, Excel, etc.)
I've done my best to verify any settings within IE, Vista, and AP7 that seem like they could have interfered but wasn't able to find any.  I wouldn't be surprised it it's the result of IE's layer-upon-layer of bloated and settings, but I have absolutely no idea where to begin.
I'd appreciate any useful guidance from others who may have experienced this, or a similar, phenomenon.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at Adobe's Knowledge Base to see what versions of Acrobat can fully work in the Vista OS?

  • Can't print from IE 8 64 bit version only

I am running windows 7, 64 home premium.  I have a HP c4599 all in one printer.  I installed all the latest drivers/software from the HP site.
I have no problems printing from any application such as word, excel, opera, etc.  I can even print from IE 8, the 32 bit version.  However, if I attempt to print from IE8, the 64 bit version, when I select print and then printer and then hit print nothing happens.  I don't get any error messages or anything.  Nothing gets put in the queue.
Does anyone know what the issue is?  Can you not print from IE 8 64 bit?  It is strange that I have no issues printing from any other program.
    Thanks!

Had the same problem but fixed by using other designated printer as default but printing to the same printer.
Could print a test page from new 8500 wireless printer and docs from Excel, Word etc but nothing from IE8 using the print drivers for Windows 7-64bit....decided to use old Officejet 7680 printer and it worked for all situations including IE8......compared both  printer test pages and discovered the environment for the 8500 which didn't work was windows NT x86 and the environment for the 7680 that worked was windows x64.......interestingly the driver names were the same, the config file was the same and the help file was the same, etc  but the data file was different too. The data file for th 8500 was hpw185g3.gpd and the data file for the 7680 was hp7600t.gpd. In other words, I select a 7680 printer software to print to the 8500 hardware.
Recommend you add a 7600 printer choice (or some other hp model) and compare printer test pages printed from the same printer .....hope it works.

  • Issues with 64 bit win 7 clients printing from 2008 R2 print server

    Hello All,
I have a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit server built with a print server role. My issue is  64 bit win 7 clients cannot add a new printer. The clients see the printer in the list, starts the printer installation, get to the point of downloading the
driver & then fails ' Windows cannot connect to the printer. ' the error is 0x0000012 or 0x000003ee. Any way I try to add the new printer I get the same result. The only way I can get the printer added is to do a local printer with the full path \\servername\printer_name
and then "have disk" and point to the driver folder on the print server to get the printer added.
Anyone have any thoughts on why the 64 bit clients will not add a new printer from a 64 bit print server ?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Please check if you can ping the print server successfully from this Windows 7 client computer. Did you encounter
the same issue when add other printers? Or just for this one printer?
    Please type
regedit on Run to open Registry Editor and follow the path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections and check if there has existent printer connection on the registry key.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Faulty, noisy grey prints from LR 2.6 64-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, HP B9180

I've been using Lightroom for about a year, and recently retired my old Windows XP 32-bit system and built a brand new AMD Quad-core Windows 7 64-bit PC. The C: drive is a brand new Kingston V+ SSD 128GB, supplemented by a 1TB SATA3 WD Caviar Black D: drive. My LR Catalog resides on the SSD C: drive (carried over from the old system), though my photo storage is on a LaCie 1TB eSATA disk. I currently have 4GB of DDR3 high-quality RAM (I do plan to add more) and run a largely trouble-free HP Photosmart Pro B9180 printer via USB 2.0 cable. My catalog and photos are all nicely intact onscreen, but I have the following problem when I use the Print Module:
Prints from Lightroom 2.6 64-bit for Win 7 (a fresh install) come out of the printer as large fields of grey noise (!) They are quite difficult to describe, but they are absolutely not a simple profile problem in any way that I can imagine. That is, the entire printed photo is grey noise (actually quite a bit of chroma noise as well on close viewing) but perfectly white borders if the print is set up for borders . If the photo has any very white highlight or very dark/black shadow areas, those portions do appear in the print as white highlights or red shadows, respectively. Other than those extreme highlight and shadow areas, the print is absolutely unrecognizable, appearing as only greyish chroma noise. ????
This problem is true for all of the follwing situations:
Whether the source file is .JPG or Canon RAW
Whether I print on Glossy Advanced or Plain Paper
Whether I print in Best, Normal, or FastDraft mode (from the printer driver)
Whether I try Application Managed  Color, Printer Managed Color, or no color management at all
The one exception to this problem occurs only when I select the Draft Mode Printing checkbox in the LR Print Module and go on to print in draft mode. In this case only, I can get a recognizable print (a typical draft quality print is made without any other problems).
I do not have problems printing from Open Office, Firefox, or even full photo-output prints from Canon Digital Photo Professional of the same image files (without LR adjustments, naturally), nor did I have this problem printing in LR 2 32-bit on my old XP system (It may have been version 2.5 the last print I made, however).
I have already perfomed a "repair-install" of a freshly downloaded LR 2.6 64-bit installer, yet the problem remains. I have not yet tried to completely remove LR before reinstalling. I have not yet reinstalled my HP 64-bit printer drivers, as the problem was limited to Lightroom.  Happy to post images if helpful (I'm new here, I'll have to check the rules and instructions).
Have not found anyone else with this problem in my searches. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is extremely disruptive to my workflow and revenue stream
    Camron
EDIT: Photo of comparison prints: Canon DPP on left, LR 2.6 on right (same image file)

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have tried each idea in the order suggested. Unfortunately I have not yet solved the problem.  In some circumstances, with certain paper profiles and no other color management in place, I get faulty prints but they have large areas of solid color in areas where there is a large amounts of color saturation in the original image. The faulty image below is printed to plain letter-sized paper ar Normal Quality. One clarification I wish to make is that my HP printer driver was not specifically a 64-bit driver, but rather 32-bit/64-bit driver compatable for Win 7.
I may try completely uninstalling LR before reinstalling, instead of a "repair-install" but I am still open to other suggestions.

I have been having a pretty consistant problem since doing a clean install of Win7 Pro and Acrobat Pro 9.2.  If I print preview a webpage and then try to print from it to a .PDF, the screen comes up asking where to file the printout and just hangs.  I can't do anything in the windows explorer window that opens to pick a place to save the file.  I can't cancel it.  The only way to get back it to force it shut down IE8.
Anyone else experiencing this and have you found a solution?
I have also had a few site where a link opens a .PDF and the same thing happens if you try to save the .PDF that you are viewing.

Try Running Disk Utilites and Repair Permissions.
Use a Utility such as Cocktail, or Oynx to remove Font cache files.
Run Font Book and Resolve Font Conflicts (more than one copy of the Same Font).
Also while in Font Book select all you fonts  (Command/apple-A) click on a Font, then choose Validate Fonts.
Try these and come back with results. Someone else  May be able to come along and suggest something else to look at.
