Printing from Illustrator does not match Photoshop

I have CS3. The colorsuite is matched across all platforms so colour profiles are all the same.
I print pure cmyk colours in a document, so one square is cyan, another magenta and so on.
When I print from photoshop, it prints the colours correct. Each colour is printed from each printers colour cartridge directly. But when I print from Illustrator, its not printing purely. The colours are darker and have mixed colours under a magnifier.
Ive tested on different printers and with colour management off on their drivers so should use adobes.
Any ideas why Illustrator is coming out muddier? Many thanks in advance.

Yes the mode is definately CMYK in photoshop. See the images attached of scanned closeup of the print out of yellow.
Yellow below is how it looks when printing from Illustrator and Acrobat. You can see its added dots to it.
Yellow below is from Photoshop. You can see its pure yellow which is what I want.
Edit: Just tried Overprint: Simulate in Acrobat. No change.
Edit2: "I would like to know what's the definition of "correct"?" For a start Magenta looks like a dark red. Cyan is blue but a dark shade of it.

  • Archive sequence number from standby does not match primary

I have two unix servers configured, one as primary and one as standby, both in 11.2.0.2. When I run the verification scripts, I noticed that my standby's archive log sequence does not match the primary.
    From standby:
select database_role, open_mode from v$database; Result: PHYSICAL STANDBY, MOUNTED
select max(sequence#) from v$archived_log; Result is null
archive log list;Database log mode Archive Mode
    Automatic archival Enabled
    Archive destination /arch/standby
    Oldest online log sequence 0
Next log sequence to archive 0
    Current log sequence 0

    Hello;
I don't think you have Data Guard working.
select max(sequence#) from v$archived_log; This should return a number.
Do an alter system switch logfile; on the primary, I'm thinking the new log never makes it to your standby.
Once you have this working consider running something like this from your Primary:
    SELECT name as STANDBY, SEQUENCE#, applied, completion_time from v$archived_log WHERE DEST_ID = 2 AND NEXT_TIME > SYSDATE -1;
    select max(sequence#) from v$archived_log where NEXT_TIME > sysdate -1;
You can change the first query to include both the Primary and the Standby.

  • Printing from Preview does not bleed to edge of paper

I am not sure if this is the right place to post, but it is is an issue with the OS, I think.
When I print from ipad or iphone, my printer has no problem bleeding the image and printing onto the entire page, L or XG size paper (I am in Asia currently).  However, when I print from preview, it does not work.  It always creates a border around the image.
I have added a custom size paper for the photo paper I am using and the printer settings show that the unprintable area is zero on all sides.
I also select "fill the paper" from the print settings and the preview on screen clearly shows that it is filling the entire paper.
Yet, when I print the document, there is always a small border around the entire image.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  I can workaround it, but it would be great if it just worked from Preview.
    Thanks in advance!

Well, my paper size is not listed, so I had to do a custom size.  So, I put in the exact size of the paper, which is KG size (Japan photo size) and is 102 x 152 mm.  I also have L size in there which is 89 x 127 mm.  Then, I put the non-printable area size as zero on all four sides.
Is it simply that my paper dimmensions are wrong?  I took it from the package and from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photo_print_sizes
Perhaps I should use 100 x 150 for KG size?

  • File Printed to PDF does not match file displayed on Print Screen in OD

I have Oracle Discoverer reports (scheduled) that I open and print to PDF files monthly. My files process and display on my computer screen without any errors. However, when I click FILE-PRINT, I immediately receive the error message "Not all rows have been retrieved. Data may be inaccurate." Most times the PDF files print correctly. However, sometimes not all of my columns are calculated when my pdf file opens. Changing settings under options (Query Governor) does not appear to make any difference. Any help would be appreciated. Sandy

    Hi Sandy,
this is not an error as such, when u run the report in oracle discoverer desktop, it will fetch only first set of values when you scroll down, it will fetch next set of values and so on, if u go to the setup in the discoverer desktop in the edit menu, you can actually set number of records to be retrieved, If u set that according to ur requirement, you will get all the records and it will be properly printed.

  • Paper Size Error: The paper size selected in the printer driver software does not match the paper

I see this question several times, and one response asking the person to have patience.. however that was in February - it is now April, and i am not able to locate an actual answer to this question. My printer is also giving me this error (Officejet Pro 8000 -A809w), even though is it very obviously not true. I have unplugged and replugged and restarted, etc. I am trying to print on a regular landscape oriented 8.5x11 sheet of paper. The last thing i printed was a single envelope (also appropriately chosen in page setup), with the paper guides narrowed.. the envelope printed and i moved the guides back to the normal position and replaced the letter sized paper. Now the printer tells me that's not what i've done.
Running Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3  - it worked fine all day til now. It's done this a time or two previously, but unplugging the printer has solved it - not this time.

    Hi,
The source can not be different, because there is only on source
repository and that is OpenLDAP. Even the Novell's libraries are built
from the OpenLDAP Source only. The source changes and bug fixes from all
the JLDAP maintainers (both from and outside Novell) wil be checked in
    to OpenLDAP's JLDAP repository only.

  • Button active area does not match Photoshop layer size

I have created several text-only buttons for a menu using Photoshop. When I reveal the active area in Encore, usually the bounding box for the active area is correct and goes right around the text, but for several of the buttons, the bounding box is way wider than the text. There is a simple graphical highlight that is also part of each layer group, but the bounding box is way larger than where that appears. There is nothing in any layer in the button group that accounts for the extreme width of the bounding box for the button in Encore. Any ideas?
I have deleted the offending button groups and copied one that didn't have the problem, only to have the same extra-large bounding-box appear. Quite strange.

All right, I finally got around to looking at this again, and, as expected (by me, even) there was a stray pixel or something in the highlight layer. I did a ⌘-T to get a transform bounding box in PS, and saw that for the highlight layer, it went way off to the left. Weird. So I then highlighted the area where I thought it might be and applied a Hue/Saturation to see if I could bring it out a little, since I couldn't see it. I tried raising and lower the brightness with a transparent background, a white background, and a black background. I couldn't see it on any background, even zoomed in to 800%. I still don't know what it was, but I just drew a marquee around the highlight that I wanted, inverted the selection and deleted, and now the bounding box for the button is as it should be in Encore.
The extra weird thing is that this seemed to happen on random buttons in my design. In PS, I would create a new button group by duplicating the one above it, then move it straight down below the previous button. I replaced the text and then moved the highlight a bit to the left or the right to be in the correct spot in relation to the new bit of text. And that duplicted layer group which had the correct bounding box with no extraneous bits in the highlight layer would then all of a sudden have the incorrect bounding box and apparently some little bit that PS could see, though I couldn't. Strange.
So, still a bit mysterious, but thanks for your help and ideas.

  • DBMS_CRYPTO MD5 hash value does not match 3rd party MD5 free tool

    Hello,
I am using Oracle Version: 11.2.4.
I have a problem where the MD5 value from DBMS_CRYPTO does not match the hash value from 3rd party MD5 free tool (MD5 Checksum Calculator 0.0.5.58 or WinMD5Free v1.20) and also the MD5 hash value calculated by an ingestion tool where I am transferring files to. And in that thread (Re: MD5 HASH computed from DBMS_CRYPTO does not match .NET MD5 I provided the reason why DBMS_CRYPTO may not match hashes produced by other methodologies.
I have no idea why you copied and posted all of that Java code the other poster and I provided since code has NOTHING to do with the problem you say you are having. Thte other poster's question was how to write Java code that would produce the same result as DBMS_CRYPTO.
You said your problem was understanding why DBMS_CRYPTO 'does not match the hash value from 3rd party MD5 free tool ...'. and I answered that in the other forum.
    >
The Crypto package always converts everything to AL32UTF8 before hashing so if the .NET character set is different the hash will likely be different.
See DBMS_CRYPTO in the PL/SQL Packages and Types doc
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_crypto.htm
If you look at the spec header for the DBMS_CRYPTO package it shows this note:
-- Prior to encryption, hashing or keyed hashing, CLOB datatype is
-- converted to AL32UTF8. This allows cryptographic data to be
-- transferred and understood between databases with different
-- character sets, across character set changes and between
-- separate processes (for example, Java programs).
-- If your 3rd party MD5 free tool (MD5 Checksum Calculator 0.0.5.58 or WinMD5Free v1.20) do not use the AL32UTF8 character set then the hashes will likely be different. You can't modify DBMS_CRYPTO so if the hashes need to match you need to use 3rd party tools that either use the correct character set or can be configured to use the correct character set.
The problem in the other thread was how to WRITE Java code that uses the correct character set and I showed that OP how to do that.
So unless you are writing your own Java code all of that code you copied and pasted is useless for your use case.

Thanks for the reply but my syntax is correct.
    t_checksum := lower(RAWTOHEX(dbms_crypto.hash(src=>l_clob,typ=>dbms_crypto.hash_md5)));
The typ argument tells dbms_crypto what type of hash value to produce.

Hi. I'm a Mac user. After entering the redemption code from Adobe Photoshop CC, I keep getting an error saying "This card was purchased in a country that does not match your Adobe ID. You can try signing in with a different Adobe ID or get in touch with us if you need help." What should I do?

Did you purchase the software in another country than where you live?

My Adobe Acrobat does not always print from Illustrator.  This is very time-consuming to have continuous problems that are obviously software based.  I have no issues with Illustrator, but we communicate on this campus via low res PDF files as proofs for approval.  Acrobat gives me no reasons why it does not want to print, it just says it can not print the file.  Fonts are NOT and issue here.  It will created a high res Illustrator PDF file but I can not print a low res PDF file.

This usually happens when you introduce a specific dependency like trying to resample certain placed image types and things like color profile conversions fail. Also stripping native AI data to reduce file size may cause this. Generally it is not recommended to print to PDF from apps that have native PDF saving functionality, anyway. You can just as well get the same result using AI's Save As feature.

  • Color does not match printing in preview

Printing a photo directly from iPhoto ('08) does not match the color on screen. Using an Epson 2200.
The colors are dark and saturated. Maybe the problem is setting color management in the advanced dialog box- I have it set to: "No Color Adjustment" as per Epson.
Is there a setting that is recommended? I can't find any help in help.
I'm well aware of color management problems printing via Photoshop with the Epson printer.

    Hi McJPP,
You're using one of the built in color setups for Photoshop, so no big deal there. Since you have your monitor properly calibrated and profiled, ColorSync shouldn't be having an issue handling the difference between the image's color space and your monitor's. Questions though. Is the image RGB? Does it have an embedded profile? If so, is it Adobe RGB 1998? I'm assuming that it does since that's your working RGB color space in Photoshop.
The grab on the left is the preview copy using:
By preview, do you mean the Preview button on the print dialogue box at the bottom left next the the PDF button? I'm guessing yes since I can produce the same kind of result. It's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try.
I took a simple grayscale image and made it RGB. I then did the same thing you did. Left image is Photoshop handling color for an Epson Stylus Pro 4000, using a profile I made for a DuPont paper. Then clicking the Preview button when the print dialogue comes up. Right image is letting the printer handle color and clicking Preview. The result is below.
Believe it or not, there's nothing wrong. Photoshop (more accurately, ColorSync) is showing you what it had to do to the pixel color values to adjust for how the inks perform on the chosen paper. The end result, with proper profiles, is that the printed image looks like what you see in Photoshop regardless of how it shows in Preview mode. The Epson driver doesn't make this visible cue even though you've turned ColorSync on there, so it simply shows you the same thing you see in Photoshop, even though it's making the same adjustment to the pixel color values.
You should get essentially the same final output no matter which way you print the image.
