Printing from iPad 2 to Canon MG6120 Pixma Printer

Hi There Apple Community,
I'm trying to help out my Mother-In-Law (who I like) and I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for her to print from her iPad 2 to her Wi-Fi-enabled printer. It's like this:
I'm trying to print from an iPad 2 to a Canon MG6120 Pixma Printer. Now, I know that the printer is not AirPrint compatible at this time and I've downloaded EuroSmartz Print n Share (v4.5.2), but I'm just not satisfied. It works to a degree, but you have to print from within the app for it to work and the quality is much lower than if she were to simply use the desktop PC (a newish HP running Windows 7 Home Premium). The app is also hinky when trying to use its native browser to log into secure sites, which is the primarly use that she is going to use it for -- buying tickets and other stuff and wanting to print up hard copies.
So, I am asking a few different questions:
1. Does anyone know of any hacks to the aforementioned Canon printer to make it work with the iPad?
2. Does anyone know of another app that works with PCs that allows for easier printing?
3. Does anyone know of any hacks to the iPad 2 that allows it to print to non-AirPrint-enabled printers?
Many, many thanks to any and all who answer!

Exactly my point: it's not a problem of not having the right printer, it's a matter of iOS not allowing it because Air Print is blocking it, probably because of a deal with HP.
But, I've solved the problem so now I can print from my iMac, my Mac Air, my iPhone and my iPad. No thanks to the folks at Apple who purposely blocked that functionality.
Can you print from your iPad directly to the printer without involving an intervening computer, yes or no.

IIS there any way I  can print from my iPad  to my canon mx860? I have tried and shows no AirPrint available . I would really appreciate if someone lets me know how to. Thank you

As Rudger said, the service runs only on particular printers.
However there is a workaround by using a 3rd party software, which emulates such a server.
This software has to run on a computer either mac or pc in you local network - same as the printer.
The printer needs to be installed on this computer.
Now the software emulates the airprint-server and forwards all print-jobs from your ipad or iphone to the printer.
    One example: http://www.netputing.com/applications/handyprint-v5/
Try searching the web for airprint server for mac/ pc , whatever applies.

  • Prints too dark and contrasty when printing from IDCS3 to Canon IP4000 inkjet printer

I have a problem with colours when printing from IDCS3 onto a Canon IP4000 inkjet printer and Ilford Galarie smooth pearl paper. I cannot find a solution to it or maybe I am not looking for the right search terms. Maybe someone can help me here.
I am using IDCS3 on a Mac G5 PPC with 2Ghz dual processors running OS 10.4.11. I have an Eizo ColorEdge CE210w monitor which I profile regularly with a Gretag Macbeth eye-one device.
I have designed a 50 page document with about 200 images. Now when I print from IDCS3 the images are too dark and very contrasty. But when I print the same image from Photoshop CS3 the print is fine.
I have been using the canned ICC profile from Ilfords website.
The one difference was that in Photoshop I had a choice of rendering intent in the print dialogue which I set to relative colorimetric. (I have subsequently found that I have the choice of rendering intents in ID if I select each image and change the RI before I get to the print stage which can be a pain)
I would appreciate your help with this as I do not really want to redesign the layout in Photoshop all over again.
    Thank you in advance.

You can change overall rendering intents for each document under Edit/Assign Profiles.

  • How to print from iPad or iPhone to Lexmark printer?

I have tried all that was suggested by Lexmark and Apple forums, still no luck.. looking for someone who figured out the 'trick' of making this work
    I have a Lexmark X6570 on a wireless network
I have installed LexPrint Listener on a Windows PC and confirmed the service is running
As there is no 'control panel' or configuration capability on this listener, not sure what it is looking for or doing
I have shared the Lexmark printer that is configured on this PC (and it works fine from the PC)
I have configured my Norton Internet Security firewall to allow TCP and UDP via port 9195
I have installed the Lexmark Mobile Printing app v1.3 on my iPad and iPhone (both running latest IOS
    TROUBLESHOOTING
All devices are on the same wireless network and SSID, same IP subnet
Printer, PC, iPad and iPhones are all working on the wireless network normally
I have shut off the Norton Firewall temporarily, still no luck
ANYONE get this Rube Goldberg solution working???? Don't really want to buy a new iPrint capable printer, the Lexmark works great otherwise.... I also don't want to drag a sniffer home to diagnose!

I think Lexmark also has an app. And, while I don't have a lexmark printer, I have a kodak one, but I use Print n SHare to print to it from my iPad. So there are a few options for you to explore

  • Printing from iPad to any shared wireless printer

Did anyone else lose the AirPrint capability on a brother wireless printer as i did when I upgraded to ios5?
The error message is "no AirPrint printers found".

    Swim2500-
If you happened to be using the Print n Share App on your iPad, upgrading to iOS 5 stopped it from being accessible from within other Apps unless they have the "Open In" option.
If you were sharing your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi, you may need to re-install the AirPrint Activator program, or find an updated version.

Printopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...

So I deployed the iPrint Appliance 1.0.1.69 to solve our "Can't print from iPad" problem and now am getting stuck at the printer/copier. We're getting a PDL IMG DATA INVALID error on our Canon IR 4075.
Anyone else have this problem and conquered it? Any suggestions where to start?
I enabled LPR support, which didn't make a difference.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
Works fine with our HP printers.

How to use Canon Selphy Photo Printer (CP900) to print from iPad 3?  I would like to print the photos in my ipad on my Canon Selphy Photo Printer (CP900) which has wifi...

    hi
ideally if you want to print from the ipad you should have an airprint enabled printer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
however, there are workarounds, you can download a decent third party app to print such as print n share, printcentral or printdirect

That printer does not support airprint. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356 for lists of Airprint capable printers.
You will have to print with one of the many print apps. Canon has some in the App Store.
There are many other print apps as well:
    PrintCentral
    Print n Share
    etc.
    Check the App Store.
