Printing from iPhoto 08 on Printer Epson Stylus Photos Rx 500?

Up to before I purchase a new 20" Mac OSX 1.5 Leopard from Tiger X 1.4.9 I had no problems printing on my Epson Stylus Photo RX500, but, even after having a new driver for Epson, the printing is a "****", I no longer have, as before the ability to chose the quality of print which I desire, I mean the best rendition for subject which I photographed, like Portraits, I no longer can control the printing speed as I used to before (for qualities) and am left with photos with lines, no matter what I do. I wasted 2 sets of ink cartridges, and lots of papers to try to circumvent the problem, to no avail. Sometimes using mat paper works well, glossy no.
Cam I have some help ? Tanks.

I had the same problem. The new driver I downloaded never worked properly. I ended up buying a new printer. I still use my Epson to scan with no problem. I actually need a part for my Epson RX 500 if you'd be willing to part with your scanner lid for a price. [email protected]

  • Printing from Elements 8 using Epson Stylus Photo R300

Help!  I'm really quite useless at all this computer stuff, and my problem is slowly driving me mad!!!  I am trying, unsuccessfully, to print from Elements 8 using an Espon Stylus Photo R300.  However, I dont know what settings to use.  I can get prints - but they dont represent what I see on the monitor.  I have tried using Picasa and the representation on the print isnt too far removed from that on the monitor.  iPhoto is slightly worse.  Can anyone tell me in simple english what settings I need to use - I have seen other discussions on the same topic and think that color management should be done by the Elements 8 and not the printer?  Any help would be very much appreciated - before I lose it all together

Hi Syd.   I was out on the web and saw where you respond to a message about printing using R300 printer. If you can help me that would be great.. this is the message that I sent Jayne who was having a problem..
    Hi Jayne,
Did you get you problem resolved.   I am experiencing the same problem with with element 8 and Epson r300 printer.  I tried both support groups Adobe wanted me to upgrade to element 9. and Epson gave me the phone running.  I have taking the printer to a Epson service center and the printer is working fine. I have change the various options in the software and no sucess.   I  had one image that I only crop and it the colors came out wrong.  Now if I don't touch the image and just print it the colors come out fine.. So please let me know if you got it resolved.

  • IPhoto 6 and Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Printer

The photos that I print from iPhoto 6 to my Epson 2200 printer are all coming out way too green. What settings do I need to use in the print dialog -- and color management? -- to get decent results? I can print beautifully from Photoshop CS2 to the 2200. I just can't figure out what settings to use in iPhoto. Thanks in advance for your help with this question. _sidpink

Kingstone's reply was helpful even though a little discouraging. But it made me realize that the problem probably lies with the choice of which software is doing the color management. The Epson 2200 printer driver provides some "advanced" settings in the print window, and I had been specifying "No color adjustment," because that's the setting recommended when printing from Photoshop. I had simply been trying the same setting when printing from iPhoto. But I went back and printed a photo from iPhoto using the "Color Controls" setting (without changing any of the variables), and the print came out perfectly! So I've answered the question to my satisfaction thanks to Kingstone's reply -- and I don't have to go out and invest in Photoshop Elements.

  • Photo printing from Iphoto 09 using epson r200 printer

Mac Mini, Iphoto 09, Epson stylus photo r200 printer.
Hello, I have been trying to get a decent printed photo (6" x 4" high gloss photo paper) using the above. All I seem to get are very poor quality prints. There does not seem to be a way of telling iphoto what medium I am using or the correct resolution I wish to use. Can anyone help !

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
If paper type is available it is in the printer specific options on the second print window - select the photo(s) you want to print, click print, select the printer, paper size and print size and click print - in the resulting window any available printer specific options will be in the pull down line toward the bottom of the window - if they are not click on the gray triangle to the right of the printer name to open the full window -- note that the available printer specific options are controlled by the printer driver - not iPhoto

  • Problem printing from cs6 photoshop to epson stylus pro 4800 printer

Has anyone had trouble printing from cs6 on a mac running lion to a epson stylus pro 4800 printer?   I keep getting an error message saying  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.""   The computer sees the printer just fine and has the latest driver installed. I have removed it and reinstalled it many times . I need help with this.

Yes, the menu items are not unavailable. We were already aware of the "Reveal Arrow" issue under OSX v10.5.3. The most important print menu items such as "Print Settings" and "Color Management" are simply not present. As previously stated we've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest (v3.66) "Universal" print driver on both hosts and all of our client Macs. A resolution to this problem is very urgent as our semester begins this week and currently students can not print their next week assignments.

  • Skin Tones Look Wrong When Printing From iPhoto

    Hi
I'm having trouble getting the caucasian skin tones to look right on photos printed with my Epson Stylus C86 printer on Epson Premium Semigloss paper. They look too pinky/purple when compared with the screen of the Sony DSC camera I shot them with and also my iMac's monitor. They just look wrong as though the subjects have a combination of bad sunburn, high blood pressure and are blushing at the same time!
I've tried the following tips synthesised from other threads:
    1. Downloaded the latest set of drivers from Epson's website.
    2. Ensured that they are associated with the printer in ColorSync utility.
    3. Selected the Use ColorSync option when printing from iPhoto's print dialogue box.
These made no difference to the default behaviour i.e. same color problems.
Could anyone guide me to a solution? I would rather not have to use another application to print them if possible. I'm not used to my Mac not "just working".
    Thanks

What color profile do the pics have? Is the printer set to the same profile?
    Regards

  • Printing from iPhoto only has two paper presets?

When I print from iPhoto to my Epson R1800 I only have access to two paper presets. matte and matte fine? I do not want either of these and I believe it is effecting my print jobs. I tried looking into modifying the presets via this link, but the truth is that when I open the ...Contents/Resources/Presets.xml file I see all the presets are in there, so the issue is somewhere else?
Apple has a dev guide on changing these presets here:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Printing/Conceptual/PresetDraft/presetsintro/chapter_1_section1.html
    Thanks for any feedback.

  • EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 780 with Mac Pro

Epson's latest driver does not seem to install on a Mac Pro w/ OS 10.4.8 and I am forced to use Gimp Print drivers. What settings do I use in this driver to make sure that printer color management on the Epson Stylus Photo 780 is disabled when creating a printer profile?
Is there a way to see the ink levels and clean the print nozzles with the Gimp Print drivers?

We are actually talking about the same thing: free
open source printer drivers from Sourceforge.
OK. That clears things up a bit. The version that came with the
Mac PRo is still called Gimp-Print but has a version of 5.0 something beta 2
    so it's a bit confusing.
Gutenprint 5.0.0 is the first stable release of 5.0.
Gutenprint is the new name for Gimp-Print as of the
    5.0 release.
OK. It looks like perhaps the Mac Pro shipped with a beta version, 5.0 beta 2,
so I'll try installing the 5.0.0 version.
    This release represents the
    state-of-the-art in current Gimp-Print development.
    ...snip>
(No, I didn't write that! You can read all about it,
    and download, from here):
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3
I recognize it. I've been reading the documentation. It looks like it might even do a better job than the Epson driver but I still have to figure out how to go about using a custom printer profile with it. My Mac Pro is at home so I'll have to wait to install and try it. I also have to try and fix my wife's broken PC first- she just won't learn.
When you say 'the driver' did you mean Epson's driver
The Epson driver doesn't seem to want to decompress properly with S. Expander on the Mac PRo. I tried downloading it several times.
or the Gutenprint that you have? Not that it really
matters - the Gutenprint downloads as a disk image
    which contains the installer.
The one you downloaded (whichever it was) was in .sea
    (self-expanding archive) .hqx (hexadecimal), which
your Mac should be able to open using Stuffit
Expander. If you don't have that it's a free
download. That download format is a bit old hat and
IMO reveals the age of the driver.
Yes. But it's an old printer too and Epson has moved on.
I like the printer though(well, more or less if I can keep
the nozzles unclogged) and it still does a good job.
    And the price is right.
The 'Ink/print head' button I mentioned is part of
the printer window you get with the Gutenprint
    printer.
Try it and see what you think!
I will, just as soon as I deal with that stupid Win box.
    thanks for your help.

  • Epson Stylus Photo RX500

I am not able to add my printer in the printer set up utility & it doesn't show up when I go to print. I had it working for a few days, then all of a sudden it stopped working. I downloaded the 7-day trial version of the Fix A Mac printer repair program. It worked, but now it doesn't. I've also re-installed the printer. I have an Epson Stylus Photo RX500. What is going on? I recently upgraded my system to OS X 10.4.11. It worked in OS X 10.3.9, so it should work in 10.4.11.

Which driver did you download? It is important that you download a PPC (not Intel) driver.
Also I notice on the [Epson drivers download page|http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=26321&prodoid =37472317&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh&x=37&y=6] there is a Smart Panel Patch v3.14A for PowerPC Macs with OS X (v10.3.5 - 10.4.x). If you haven't already tried this its worth installing.
Before doing this first delete the printer and reinstall once you have installed the patch.

  • Epson Stylus C88+ won't print from iPhoto 6

Recently bought an Epson Stylus C88+ printer to replace the Stylus C86 that is not printing well anymore. Discovered that the C88+ does not print from iPhoto 6.0.5! The printer does print from Photoshop Elements 2 and does print documents fine. When we choose "Apple P" it starts the printing process, makes the starting noise, but then stops and the red exclamation point appears next to the printer icon on the dock. The original driver came from the printer's install CD that came with printer. I had seen some instructions from Epson about removing and reinstalling the printer driver, so I have done the following: 1) removed the 2 printers above from the Printer Setup Utility, 2) reset the printing system in Printer Setup Utility, 3) removed the Epson folder from the Library folder in Mac HD, 4) deleted the Epson printer receipts from the Library folder in Mac HD, and 5) reinstalled the C88+ driver from the Epson website. It still does the same as before. Any othe ideas?

I'm not sure what I should be looking for in Page setup settings and iPhoto print window. How do I check the driver in Printer Setup Utility? I already added the printer after reinstalling the driver from the Epson website; Printer setup utility seemed to find the driver when I did that because the printer is listed and printer is otherwise working.
I also looked at Colosync utility as you suggested and found my computer under devices and verified the Profiles in Profile First Aid. Nothing was found wrong for any Epson device, only some Lexmark profiles were incorrect (they must be ones installed with Tiger that I don't use), so didn't do the repair.
Here is what it says in System Profiler for the printer (doesn't actually say Epson USB and I wonder what the question mark means):
    Stylus C88:
    Status: Idle
    Print Server: Local
    Driver Version: 2.72
    Default: Yes
    URI: usb://EPSON/Stylus C88?serial=FGS020609051637250
    PPD: EPSON C88 Series (1)
    PPD File Version: 1.0
    PostScript Version: (3011.104) 0
I'm not sure where they get that serial number from. The one on the back of the printer is totally different. I was a little suspicious that nowhere in the Printer setup utility or system profiler does it actually say I have a C88+; it just says C88 series, etc. It says on the C88+ download page says I would get driver v2.7aA. I guess this is the same as what I have. I was warned by Epson that the C88 and C88+ are 2 totally different printers, but when I checked the C88 download page it says I would get v2.5bA, so I don't think I downloaded the wrong driver.
For anyone else who has the same problem, I have discovered that as a workaround I can open photos in Photoshop Elements from iPhoto and can print them using Elements, so I'm ok unless I want to try printing an iPhoto greeting card, etc.
    Thanks for any additional thoughts.

  • Problems printing using iPhoto and Epson Stylus Photo R2400

I'm using OS 10.5.6 and iPhoto 8.0.2(402) to print pictures on my Epson Stylus Photo R2400.
I have other printers set up on this computer and they all print everything just fine regardless of the program I am using.
Using the Epson Stylus, I'm able to print from any other program than iPhoto.
When I try to print pictures from iPhoto, I get the error message...
can't open ` /private/var/spool/cups/tmp/4a18c65407c9b (the numbers at the end changes each time I try to print.
When I go in to check the folders out to see what might be causing the problem, the permissions on the folder cups and tmp have the following rights set up. system = Read & Write, _lp = No Access, everyone = No Access.
I've been able to set the everyone setting to equal Read & Write access, but I can't get the _lp access to change. When I reboot the computer, the everyone setting goes back to No Access.
Any ideas for how I can get this to work?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I don't have a tried and true fix for that but I would start with dumping the printer driver via the System/Print pane and then reinstall it. Go to the Epson site to download the latest driver for that particular model in case there's a newer one released.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • How can I remove vertical lines when printing from Aperture 3.2.2 to Epson Stylus Photo RX690?

I have been generally quite happy with my access to and use of Aperture 3.2.2 (recently purchased) for import and manipulation of photos and movies, etc.I am using Aperture on a MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8.
However I have been unable to print high quality images on Epson premium glossy, glossy or matt paper on my Epson Stylus Photo RX690.
High quality prints on screen show perfectly in preview, but all prints come out with good and accurate colours, but a series of vertical lines or bands of lines across the photo print.
Using the Aperture Manual I have checked my settings in Aperture for the printer, for colour and quality of paper etc and they all seem to be correct.
The Epson Printer is networked with a Toshiba (Vista) laptop which prints perfect results from Picasa and Photoshop with fine colour and no markings.
I would appreciate any help please.
    Cam Opie

    Thank you Mark
I thought I had done all the settings .....but no.
I now have perfect prints. Easy when you know how!!!
    Cheers

  • Printing from iPhoto to Epson Stylus R1900-Lack of Layout and other options

I have just begun using my MacBook Pro for photo use, and also just acquired an Epson R1900. When I print from iPhoto to the R1900, I can only print 1 photo per page. The usual Epson screen which has an option to change layout, e.g., to multiple photos per page does not appear. If I try to print from Mail the usual Epson screen does appear. Why not in iPhoto like it always has in the past on my iMac when printing to my previous, Canon i950? This is a major concern to me since my wife likes to keep our photos as multiples per page in a scrapbook. I'm using iPhoto '09, vers. 8.1.2., and OS 10.5.8, and the latest update of the Epson driver for the R1900 which claims to be fine with OS 10.5.8.

Well, I found how to get to "Settings." There is a button in the photo area entitled "Customize," which leads to a screen with various options on the bottom, one of which is "Settings." If I click on that I get a small dialog box including the option to select "Multiple Photos per Page." So far it looks like I need to do some very tedious custom sizing to get, say, 4 photos on 1 8x10 page. There is a "Layout" button on the "Customize" screen; however, it only wants to give me horizontal or vertical page orientations; or ones which have the option of adding a title underneath. In the past, if I choose multiple photos per page (or "N up") I could then choose how many: 2, 3, 4, etc photos per page and the program sizes them accordingly. I still get that when I use my old iMac with iPhoto '05 to print to the Epson R1900. Works nice and easy.
Also, I'm confused by the fact that iPhoto '09 does not allow a "Page Setup" file command. This is making it difficult for me to get the photos oriented in a way that they will fit in groups. So far, iPhoto '09 is proving to be very awkward to work with compared with my past experience with iPhoto '05.

  • Epson Stylus Photo 1290 - how do I remove items from the print queue?

Description of problem with "Epson Stylus Photo 1290" Application:
After selecting Show Completed Jobs from the main menu (Jobs > Hide/Show Completed Jobs) I am presented with a status list of print jobs (a.k.a. "print queue") that are either marked as "Completed", "Cancelled", "On Hold", "Printing" etc. Each and every time I print an item it is added to this list.
I simply want to clear this list.
However, the application's "Delete" button appears to only transform a "Printing" job to a "Cancelled" job, for example.
So how on earth do I clear the old (and, to me, useless) jobs listed in this print queue?
I know this isn't apple software but seeking help on the EPSON sites (and the rest of the net) has led me nowhere.
Many many thanks in advance if anyone can suggest anything!
    My set-up:
    Hardware:
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
    Boot ROM Version: MBP51.007E.B05
    SMC Version (system): 1.33f8
    Running: OS X 10.5.8
Problem App: EPSON Stylus Photo 1290.app, version 6.0.3
    Queue name: EPSONStylus_Photo1290
    Host name: localhost
Driver version: 3.09 (confirmed as latest)
    URL: usb://EPSON/Stylus%20Photo%201290?serial=WORLL0112061542320
Have print log files been cleared: Yes (using MacPilot)
Have print preferences been trashed/reset: Yes (all that I could find)
When did this problem start: not sure, I first noticed it several months after first using it on my MBP 10.5.x

Hmmmm. Doesn't look like I can edit my post. Okay.......
Contrary to what I've said above, this IS an Apple issue as the problem lies in the Print Queue, which is part of the OS.
The "fix" is to go System Preferences > Print & Fax and then delete the 1290 from the list of printers.
When the 1290 printer is re-added its print queue is now empty AND the Delete button does as it is supposed to do - it deletes items from the queue list.
    Hooray!

  • Fixed Epson Stylus Photo RX580 - Unable to print from AirPort in 10.5.x

After upgrading 1st Gen MBP 17" to 10.5.4 I could not print from the Airport, unless I used Bonjour through one of my 10.4.11 Macs. Much sadness. Found this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6170067 - near the bottom was "big ant" response (for an AL C1100). He has a 9-step process from Stepson, and it work fabulously. One suggestion - in the last step, you can choose which model driver, I advise selecting the second choice driver Epson Stylus Photo RX580 - Gutenprint v5.1.3. It adds better options for printing, especially for print quality options. I plan to try the solution on my office RX680 next.

After trying for weeks, I finally came up with a very simple workaround that allows me to print to the Stylus Pro 3800 wirelessly again. I don't know why I didn't try this before. All I did was change the way I connect the printer to the Airport Extreme Base Station from using USB to Ethernet. In the printer's front panel "Network Setup" menu I made sure that the Bonjour option was enabled.
After this, it was just a simple matter of adding the printer again from the Print Fax preference pane and everything worked!
So, if anyone else is having a similar problem, try using the Ethernet port on your printer instead of the USB one.
    Cheers
