Printing from Laptop through network with router

I have a new HP Laptop, a Linksys Router and a HP Officejet 8500 909a All in One Printer. I use to be able to print from my laptop with no problem. Now I am unable to do so and have tried everything I know to correct the problem. Needless to say, I need some suggestions.

The OJ 8500 A909a only has ethernet connectivity. Just plug in the ethernet cable to the printer and the router, wait for 1 minute, and print the network cofiguration page again. You should see a valid IP address.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

  • Print from laptop wirelessly to hp4630

My HP 4630 officejet has been printing nicely wirelessly from all of my laptops and devices; since my password via: my internet provider has changed, the printer is not connecting wirelessly to print from laptops; I've done the wireless wizard with new password but still no connection; I've troubleshooted, disconnected everything and have spent hours to fix this problem! I'm frustrated and ready to return printer to store. (

Remove your password from your SSID and see if it connects with no password.

    Hi,
Apple's AirPrint only support specific models while using wired or wireless network connection.
Plugging a printer into a USB port of Apple base is not supported for AirPrint:
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsules are not supported with AirPrint.
As well you must use AirPrint enabled printers for a such, none of your printers are AirPrint enabled:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
There are 3rd party solutions which allow sharing a printer connected to your Mac as AirPrint, Printopia as example provide a such:

First, AirPrint is not something you buy. It's built into iOS.
Second, John asked if you could print from an iPad with a cable:

Third, in your reply to me, you said "you can" which would imply that one can print from an iPad via a cable, which again cannot be done.

I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

The following model is airprint compatible, is this the one you have?
    HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP
If not the "dnf MFP" model, then no.
The router needs to support the Bonjour protocol.  If not, the airprint won't work.

  • Printing from XP through router, OS 9.2.2 to USB Printing device

HI. I have a domestic network:
    - iMac G3 OS 9.2.2 hooked into USB hp 950 all-in-one printer
    - iMac ethernet linked to D-Link router (ADSL conection)
    - also, portable PC (XP) connected to router
    - also, trying Miramar PCMacLan 9.1 software
Please, help... How can I print from XP/PC to the printer in the Mac?

    Well, I have learned that:
    - Miramar PCMacLan is for Mac printing on a PC printer
    - for having a PC printing on a Mac printer, you need DAVE
Now, Dave only works with Postcript printers.
As hp PSC 950 is not a ps printer, I am investigating if I can solve it with Ghostscript (an utility that allows previewing ps and and printing ps on non-ps printers).
    To be continued...

  • Is there Anyway to print to an HP printer on an isolated network with an Android Phone?

I've got a very unique situation and I have been unable to come up with a solution.
I have a jobsite that needs a printer.  There is no internet at that location so I can't do a full blown eprint.  The other tweak is that the users only have Android cell phones.
I tried setting up an older HP 5510 printer on a Linksys print server on a wireless router that did not connect to the internet and then putting a google play store app called "lets print" on the android phone and seeing if it would print.  Look like it was going to work except it didn't.  I could see the print going to the router then the print server and even what looked like going to the printer but noting printed.  If I connected my laptop to the router and printed it work.
So,  If I buy a new HP all in one (say the Officejet 5740) which has eprint capabilities can I just point the android eprint app at the IP address of the printer and get it to send the job there or is the internet absolutly required?  Understand that I would have the android phone go on the local wireless network that the printer will be on and actually, the android phone may have internet through it's cell phone provider but the printer will not.  I'm not sure if the internet is needed to render that's why I'm pointing this out.
This is a very tricky one.  Deep thinking needed.  Thanks for your help.

You will need  to install a printer capable of wireless direct in order to print from a mobile device.
It is quite straightforward and does not require that the printer have an internet connection.
The printer will use its own wireless radio and provide an SSID for you to connect to.
There is information on the subject at the following URL.
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/wireless-printing-center/wireless-direct.html
This is from the menu on my current HP Envy 120 product loan.

  • Hp c309- problems printing from laptop wo pc on

My printer is set up through my pc and my wireless router. I am finding that I cannot print wirelessly unless my pc is on. Does this sound correct? I don't want to have to keep my pc on all the time as we don't use it that often. I'd also like to reinstall the printer through my laptop so that is the origin. Please help.

You have mentioned that the printer is connected to the PC and to a wireless network.
As long as the printer has valid information for the network, you should be able to use the printer wirelessly rather than shared (with the print server).
The easiest way to accomplish this task would be to uninstall the printer from the other computers and to reinstall the printer making sure to select the network option.
Depending on the software version, you may be prompted to enter the IP address of the printer.  If you do not know what this is, you can get this by going to setup>network>View Network Settings on the printer and select the appropriate network option.
I recommend setting up the printer only as a network printer rather than network and USB if possible.  This would prevent some issues from arising and make the printer installation a little easier as a whole.  However, we can leave the printer connected with a USB cable to the "print server" computer as I'm not certain if you need to have the printer physically connected to that computer.

  • Hp officejet 4500 wireless won't print from laptop. It is connected to laptop. It prints from desktop

We have a HP Officejet 4500 wireless printer which was first installed in 2011 without any problems. We also utilize a HP LaserJet P1006 printer (not wireless) with our network. I cannot print from my laptop to either printer, but hubby's desktop has no problem. Both printers stopped working for my laptop at the same time. Everything worked perfectly until a few weeks ago when I could no longer print directly from my Dell Inspiron laptop. When I check on the connectivity of both printers to my laptop, the information tells me the printers are connected to my laptop.
My husband has a Dell desktop (our main computer).
I have tried everything I know to fix this problem, including shutting down the desktop, my laptop, the router, and the printers (including disconnecting the printers from the desktop with the cords that connect to the printers). I have followed all instructions on how to restart the entire system...plug the router in, plug in the printers & turn them on, and lastly restart both computers.
I am not what one would call "computer savvy"; as a matter of fact, I am quite computer-challenged. If any of you can tell me in extremely-easy-to-understand language what to do, I would appreciate your help.

  • Can't print from (only) one networked computer

We have multiple desktops and laptops in our home network. We print to a wireless-network-connected HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one printer. We are able to print from multiple computers to the printer but from one laptop we cannot. I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor on the problem laptop; it finds the printer but when it tries to connect it says the printer is not connected. However on two other machines (both desktops as it happens) I can connect and print no problem. The problem laptop is running Windows 7.  Any thoughts on why the one laptop won't connect to the networked printer? (That laptop is connecting to the wireless network per se with no problem; I downloaded an updated Print and Scan Doctor from HP Support for example.)

    Hello Swegnson.
I understand your concerns using your Photosmart C7280. Please follow these steps to connect your printer on your Windows 7 computer:
    1) Go into your Devices and Printers, right click on your printer, and select remove device
    2) Next, Click on your Start Menu
    3) Click on the HP folder
    4) Click on the Photosmart C7280
    5) Click on add a device, then add a new printer
    6) Click on wireless and follow the instructions
(Make sure you turn off any Firewalls or Anti-Virus running on your computer.)
Please let me know at this point, if your printer is unable to connect wireless.
Once you have your printer connected, please follow this HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Please inform me your troubleshooting steps.
Looking forward to hear from you.

  • Can't print from MAC on network

HP PSC 1410 connected to a Lenovo running Windows Vista.  Printer is shared on the network.  Print job from MAC gets into print queue on Vista machine.  Status goes from Spooling to Printing but then goes to Error - Printing.  Can print from other Windows machines on the network.

    Hello @jerseyjim119!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
From what I understand it sounds like you are trying send the print job from the Mac to the printer shared through the Vista computer. From what I can find you can only share the printer with a Mac on the network using USB into a AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station.  Do you have your printer plugged into one of those Base Stations?  Here is a link regarding Setting Up Your HP Printer on a Network with Apple AirPort.
I am unable to locate any other way to share this printer on the network through a Windows operating system to a Mac computer and I am not too sure if that connection is supported.  For any further assistance I recommend contacting our phone support.  Please call our technical support at 1-800-474-6836. • Printer won't print from laptop

Here goes!  I hope this is enough info.
I have an old (but faithful) HP v40 All-In-One color printer that worked beautifully until August, 2014.  I got malware on my laptop and when I got software to work on removing the malware, my printer would no longer work with my laptop. When I replace the ink cartridges, the printer prints the alignment page with no problem.  It just won't print any documents from my laptop any more.  Somehow I have v40, v40 (1) and v40 (2) printers listed under the printer/devices & cannot erase them.  Anyway, I have created a default on all three and it still doesn't print.
When MS updated files to my computer, could the original printer driver be too old to work with the updated files? OR
    your suggestion please!!
Unfortunately I don't have the Internet anymore so it may take a day or two to get back to whomever answers this post.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi @KJazz
I understand you are having some troubles with ol' faithful, aka your v40 printer!
Running the Print and Scan Doctor might help, but you would need internet to download it. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Source:Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows
Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor> www.hp.com/go/tools
***  You could go somewhere where you would have internet access, and download the Print and Scan Doctor to thumb drive. Then use the Thumb drive to install it and us it on the computer.
If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
I look forward to hearing back from you
