Printing from N8 via home network

Hi there, I have had my new N8 for about two months now and I love it I must say, previous model was a N82, so I loved getting to know it ! One thing I had on my N82 was the ability to send images or text from the phone to the printer via my home wi-fi network, this was great and although i can still do it via blutooth it would be nice to have the network option. Am i missing something or is it not possible ???
Thanks

Anyone know of an app to print from iPhone4 via Brother 4070CDW?  Brother's app doesn't seem to support my model printer.  Thanks!

Setup a typical HP AirPrint Printer
    1. Insert the CD into the CD drive of the computer, and then wait a few seconds for the software installer to start.
    2. Accept the installation agreements, and then click Next . It might take several minutes for your computer to install the printer software.
    3. You will be asked to connect printer to computer with USB cable
    4. You will be ask how you want to connect to printer, select Network (Ethernet/Wireless) and then click Next.
    5. Setup will access computer and router for wireless settings.
    6. Setup will ask if you want to use wireless settings (SSID and Password) to setup printer. Select Yes and press Next.
    7. Setup will then send wireless settings to printer.
    8. Once printer is setup, you will be ask to remove USB cable.
    9. The printer is now ready for AirPrint.

You can use IBM Infoprint Server for z/OS.

  • No printing from XP via AirPort Express

We're using AirPort Extreme. A Windows XP machine is connected via Ethernet cable to the AirPort, and a Mac iBook is connected wirelessly. Both machines can access the internet without any problems.
Also connected to the AirPort (via USB cable) is a Canon PIXMA iP4200 printer. Printing from the iBook works fine, but we are unable to get the XP machine to print.
I've downloaded and installed the most current driver from Canon's website. (The printer works fine when plugged directly into the XP machine -- it's only through the AirPort that it won't work.)
I followed the instructions on p. 54 of the "AirPorts Networks for Windows" documentation -- creating a port with an IP of 10.0.1.1 when adding the printer. I've tried disabling the XP firewall, but that had no effect.
The printer showed in the XP "Printers and Faxes" window. It said "Ready" (not "Offline"). When we sent something to print, the job appeared in the queue. But then it would eventually time out with a message that the printer is either busy or there's some other error.
To complicate matters, I deleted that printer from XP's "Printers and Faxes" in one of my repeated attempts to start over. Now when I go through the process, it tells me that port 10.0.1.1 is already in use, so I can't even get it to show.
This is XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2.
We tried calling Canon support, but they don't support networked printers.

Also, I'm unable to repeat them now because it fails
at the step, "...if the IP address of the AEBS or
Airport Express is 10.0.1.1, put "10.0.1.1" and let
it generate "IP_10.0.1.1" as the port name."
This no longer works because XP says that that port
    is already in use.
At the "Up will come the "Select the Printer Port" screen" rather than create a new port, use the drop down box to select the IP_10.0.1.1 port which already exists.

  • Help needed to setup my Printer to work on home network...Please!!!

I recently purchased my first Mac, a G5 PowerPC. I have connected it to my home network (3 windows PC's and my G5) by way of a LAN router and everything works fine except getting my printer to function correctly.
I have an Epson DX4850 which works fine when connected directly to my G5 via USB but I cannot get it to work properly when connected to one of the Windows's PC's, its prefered location.
    I have done the following;
Opened the Printer Setup Utility and clicked "Add"
In the Printer Browser I selected "More Printers"
In the 2 drop down menu's I selected "Windows Printing" and "Network Neighborhood"
Then selected the name of my home network, then the name of the computer the printer is connected to then the actual printer.
The problem seems to be that the Printer Model is listed as "Generic". When I try direct it toward my specific printer all I can find are GIMP drivers under Epson. If I select "Other" in order to navigate to my specific printer driver I seem to have trouble locating it.

I recently purchased my first Mac, a G5 PowerPC. I
have connected it to my home network (3 windows PC's
and my G5) by way of a LAN router and everything
works fine except getting my printer to function
    correctly.
I suspect that I know why. Several printer vendors, including Epson & HP, have for reasons which make sense to them elected to NOT properly support the CUPS print system which OS X uses and has used since 10.2. Those who support CUPS properly deliver drivers which will work with any connection, including being shared across a network. Those who don't, well...
In the particular case of Epson, they're trying to push this thing: <http://www.buyepson.co.uk/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?PID=C12C824025>.
Actually, it does make more sense to use a device which puts the printer directly on the network than to share it from a computer. However, it seems... unlikely that anyone with sense will actually buy a 160GBP thingie to attach to a 100GBP MFD... Buying a second MFD would appear to make more sense.

There should be a specific GIMP driver for it. I think. I'm not sure, as the DX4850 isn't sold in the US, and many/most of the GIMP drivers for Epsons are written in the US. Which means that there may not be a driver specifically for that device, because the guys who'd write the driver for it haven't been able to get their hands on a machine to work with. If you can find out which print engine is at the heart of the MFD (the Stylus C86 or C88 engine is a possibility, but I don't know, I've never actually touched a DX4850) you can use the driver for that printer and it'll work just fine. At least, my old CX5400 used to work using the C84 GIMP driver.
When I try direct it toward my
specific printer all I can find are GIMP drivers
    under Epson.
This is because Epson's own drivers don't do sharing. This is a Feature, according to Epson. That way it doesn't interfere with their external, expensive, USB-to-ethernet print thingie. The GIMP drivers do do sharing.
If I select "Other" in order to
navigate to my specific printer driver I seem to have
    trouble locating it.
There isn't one from Epson. (Unless you have 160 pounds you're not doing anything with...) There may be a GIMP driver which will work.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • Printer won't print from one computer in network

We have a family network and for some reason on of the computers no longer can print.  The printer is a photosmart c7280 all-in-one.  I uninstalled the printer and driver and then downloaded a new driver and installed it to the computer.  The computer's network recognized the printer but nothing that is sent to the printer prints and i just get an error message but no reason why.  The printer is physically connected to a x-p computer and the computer in question is running Vista.  However, that shouldn't be a problem because this computer used to be able to print.  I just don't know what to check to make sure nothing has been turned on or turned off on the computer so that the printer doesn't recognize this printer any longer.
Before i downloaded the new driver, i deleted the old one and now I have just discovered that after i reinstalled the driver, there is not printer listed in the windows device manager.  The printer does show up in my network area tho and in the printer folder.  i have no idea what's going on.

Is the XP computer connected to the C7280 via USB?
How is the C7280 connected to the home network?
How is the Vista computer connected to the home network?  Can you open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address?

  • Wireless printer not found on home network

    Help!!!
I've got an HP Photosmart B110 printer. It connects to my Thomson Gateway router ok and the test report that prints out shows everything as being ok.
When I log on to the router it shows that it can see the printer
I'm using both a PC and a laptop, which both have Windows 7. The PC is 32 bit, the laptop is 64 bit. They will print ok when the cable is plugged in but can't get either to work on wireless. I've tried downloading the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility and it can't find the printer on the network. I've tried giving the printer and static IP address and all the settings on the router seem to be ok and I've run out of ideas
Can any one suggest anything else to try?

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. There is good news and bad news!
I tried most of things posted; I changed the wifi channel to 11, I unistalled the HP software on my laptop, disconnected the dsl cable to the router and then reinstalled the HP software (with my Mcafee firewall disabled) and SUCCESS, the printer worked wirelessly!!
So then I did it all again on my PC and it also worked.
I tried restarting my laptop and printer still worked wirelessly
I tried turning off the printer and put it back on and again it still worked.
    That's the good news.
Printer, laptop and PC all switched over night, turned them on again today and surprise surprise I can't print wirelessly.
The printer wireless test report says that it is connected to the router. When I log onto the router (Thompson Gateway) it can see the printer but shows it as being inactive. Is this a printer fault? A router fault? I'v not bothered disabling the router firewall today as I can't see this making any difference but I'm running out of ideas
    Any other suggestions from anyone??!!

  • Can print from MacBook via Airport, but not from eMac

I recently set up wireless network via an Airport Time Capsule. I've connected my Epson Stylus C84 via the USB hub. I can print wirelessly from the MacBook, but I get a "Communication Error" when attempting to print from my eMac (which works just fine when directly connected to the printer.)
    Thoughts? (It's driving me nuts!)

You'll need to invest in an Airprint printer, or look into a hack such as AirPrint Activator.
The only Apple supported/suggested method is to look into getting an AirPrint supported printer.  To find them you can go to store.apple.com and on the side is an AirPrint printers section.

  • Cannot Send Emails If Not Via Home Network

If I am at home I can send emails via my wifi network without problem but I cannot send emails outwith my home wifi range. This is because my ISP (Orange) insist that I send outgoing emails via mail.orangehome.co.uk so I have configured my email settings accordingly.
That outgoing setting does not allow me to send emails using the 3 Network or other wifi networks when I am away from the house
Anybody else having this problem? It is a real PITA and reduces the effectiveness of the phone significantly.
(A side effect of trying to send emails whilst away from my wifi network is that it screws things and any attempt to synchronise the mailbox thereafter results in an error 80072f30 until such time as I delete the message or messages in the outbox which failed to send.)
    John H.D. Tuach

    Hello Hans
The problem I have can be explained with what has happened to me just today!
I was sitting in the back garden and wrote two emails. (Normally my EE Brightbox router will allow me to use wifi in the garden so I thought it safe to send them.)
    Wrong!
Because I had no wifi signal for whatever reason, the emails were sent via my network (3) and not via the EE wifi network.
3 then attempted to send them via smtp.orangehome.co.uk (specified in my mailbox setup on my phone since EE insists I use that outgoing server) and I assume that EE then refused to accept them since they did not originate from an EE user. The phone (Lumia 920) at that point froze with the 'Sycnhronising' message static on the screen. When I went to 'email setup' I got a message to tell me that there was a problem with my email setup. Whether the main problem or not, my email password had been lost and even when re-entered, I had to switch the phone off and on to stop the  'Sycnhronising' message and get access to email.
This was slightly different from previous situations - normally I get the numeric error message mentioned earlier. Even now that I have deleted the two emails from the outbox I still cannot use email until I delete and recreate my email account.
I have my own email server which I would prefer to use for outgoing mail as opposed to EE and the Lumia does not offer any facility to alter outgoing ports (as far as I an see).
Sorry if the reply is a bit wordy but I do feel that this situation deserves wider exposure as had I known earlier I would have chosen a broadband supplier who did not dictate the setting for outgoing mail server.

  • Lynksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router - Help needed to share internet connection from PC to home network

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I have:
I am currently connecting my PC to a mobile phone as a Wireless Access Point to give that PC access the internet. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network?
To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router, although if anyone has any ideas how to do this I'd love to hear!
So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. My question is how do I set up my  Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! PS: both PC's are running on Windows 8

I have Cisco Linksys E900 router. I want to make my home Wi-Fi zone. But I don’t have Static IP. One more thing is that Service provider have web page Authentication. I have username and pass.
I am able to make SSID and security for my WI-FI LAN. I can use internet on one device. If I tried from second device again it’s asking me for username and password. While login it’s showing your first session in not logout. (Means I have to logout from 1st device and have to login on 2nd device.)
Is there any option that I can Use my all devices at same time?

  • Print to Windows Shared Printer from Mac on wireless network

My set up is: HP Deskjet 1050 410 USB to a WIndows 7 PC. The PC has 4 users, each password protected for login and  public (not protected) folders. The Macbook is running OS X 10/6/8. I have downloaded the latest HP drivers.
I found the printer on the workgroup network and installed it as the only printer on the Macbook. When I send a job to print, I am prompted to either login as a guest or as a user with a password. Either way, I get an eror message "On Hold (Authentication required)" Under Job Info is the following message "NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER"
THis is an improvement over what was happening before when I could not find the printer in the list and had to manually use the IP address. Even then, I could not print, I would get a communication error.
The first time I installed the printer driver (an earlier driver and earlier release of OS X 10.6) I had no problems printing from the Macbook. It found the printer and printed without any password authentication. Nothing has changed on the PC, the printer is shared with all users on the network, but I can't seem to print.
I noticed many postings with similar issues but I did not see any resolution. Help! (Thanks!)

hey just want to say thanks to you guys... I just this week switched to Mac after 14 years of heavy PC use. Mac's been awesome except for that I couldn't print to my PC based printer... now I can... and I couldn't of done it with out this apple discussion thread about HPIJS.

I just purchased canon mg5230 AirPrint compatible printer. Attepting to print from Keynote and numbers. Message-no airprinters found. Printer does work via wireless laptop. It will print a photo only via Canon app.

Not sure if this is a typo, but the 5230 is not on the list of airprint printers, but the 5320 is.
    Here is the list.

If you have the 5320, the from the printer control panel, see if you can update the frimware on the printer.  If you have recently bought it, it was not likely shipped with the current software.

  • Photosmart B8550 stopped printing from Win 7 Home Premium

I've had a Photosmart B8550 for several years. It used to print from my Win 7 Home Premuim setup, but won't now. I've attempted several fixes, driver un-installations and re-installations, including what is described in a thread that started on this forum on 7/15/13. The cumulative result is that I can print beautiful diagnostic pages from the HP Solution Center software, but nothing from any application running on Windows, nor a test page from the printer properties page in Control Panel. When I click the "Print Test Page" button on the printer properties page, I see the page flash briefly in the B8500 Series printer queue window and disappear -- but no page is printed. Is there a fix I haven't seen? Does this mean the printer has fried? Is there one last attempt I can make before (probably literally) heaving this one out the window?
    This question was solved.

    Hello jevaino,
I would like to assist you, but I require more information:
    Is your Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?
Is the printer connected to the computer using a USB or wireless connection?
Did you try installing the printer software from the CD, download from our website, or built-in drivers on Windows?
Please answer these questions as soon as possible so I can assist you. Thanks.

  • Can't print from Macbook via Airport Extreme.

I have just got myself a White Macbook and have it connected to my Airport Extreme. I already have an imac connected and everything is working fine internet wise but if I try and print from the macbook via the imac a window comes up saying 'Canon MP610 series @ newimac - connecting to xxxx-xxxxx-computer.local. on port631...' but nothing else happens. My firewall setting on the imac is at 'Allow only essential services'. If I change it to 'Allow all incoming connections' the printer works. I do have printer sharing switched on in both machines. Any help gratefully received. Thanks, Kevin

Try changing your firewall settings to set access for specific applications and services. This should allow printer sharing, while still keeping things blocked that you don't want.

  • Accessing windows machine from mac on home network

Having serious file sharing issues...any help would be welcomed...
I have a hybrid wired / wireless home network with one powermac, one pc and several laptops.
The laptops are all networked wirelessly through a time capsule (and no problem at all).
The powermac is in the living room connected via a router to the wall socket which in turn is connected to a cisco router in the basement which in turn is connected to the att uverse network router.
The pc is connected to an output of the time capsule.
Both the powermac and pc both have perfect internet performance...
But neither machine can see the other...
I presume it's because they're both on different routers, but surely there must be a way to set up all the routers etc that they realize that they're on the same network and force them to be nice? I'm sure larger networks have this configuration all the time...
If you can point me to some detailed guides how to do this or maybe an old posting...(I've already search a couple hours) I'd be grateful...

You need to create a bridge between the two networks and then point the IP and DNS addresses created by the bridge to each of the client machines. In your case it is the PC and Mac. Once they have the same router address and their IP's are on the same network scanning "list", they will see each other. In order to make this work you need:
    A bridge hardware device (http://z.about.com/d/compnetworking/1/0/H/3/linksys_wet54gv2-400.jpg)
A good amount of time to configure it properly
Best of luck and you may want to place the bridge in your home in the more central location where the laptops will be.
