Printing from Pagemaker to H.P. Printers

I have had 4 HP Printers.
The first was a Laserprinter which worked very well.  But it was monotone and I needed colour.
So I added a 'All-in-One' printer but this resulted in the Laserprinter not responding any more.  In addition the new printer would not print from PM when it felt like it.  It sometimes worked if the PM document was the first of the day but once Work etc were used no PM could be printed.
The new printer then became old and had to be replaced.  I bought a Photosmart C4480.  Again Pagemaker was a case of hope & pray.  In addition the selected page set up was ignored, no margins, unless I reduced the image to 90% or smaller.
I contacted HP.  They had no answers, the only real suggestion they made concerned Windows, Mac was totally ignored.  After a long drawn out series of e-mails they decided to replace the printer with an identical model.  That has arrived and has refused completely to print from PM, so I can't check if the format problem still exists.
So, is there something in PM which stops printers suppled by Apple Agents printing from PM?
I visited my local Apple shop.  They tried to sell me a new Apple application!!

Pagemaker is 10 years old. If you want a printer to work with it you need one from the same time period. If you want to use new gear then you need new apps. I recommend you get InDesign.

I don't get it, I read one post about why would we have to buy an AirPrint Printer when we have used the "print to a wifi printer" just fine in the past?  Yes I feel that's exactly what's happening to me now too. I want to print from my iPhone and iPad to my WiFi Printer which is also now connected to my Airport Express WiFi network just fine. No problems.

Very glad you added that bit of information because I see different problems similar to this.  I want to share with them what you did and hopefully you not only fixed your specific problem but you can lend some more advice to others with problems like this. Thanks!

  • I have a e printer and thee printer is on the same wifi net work as the iPad, when I select print from the iPad the response is no printers. I can successfully email from my iPad to the printer. How can I make my iPad recognize the printer?

I have an e printer and the printer is on the same network as the iPad. When I attempt to print from the iPad I get a message no printers available. How can I get my iPad to recognize the e printer?

This printer has worked for me with out fail at my house.  I am traveling in an RV and am at the mercy of the RV Wifi.  I do not have access to the router.  The printer has been recycled a number of times as well as the Ipad.  The printer is set up and has access to the wifi.  It seems to me that the Ipad and Iphone are not recognizing the connection with the e printer.  I was hoping there was some adjustment that could be made to the Ipad and Iphone.  I can email to the printer from both gadgets.  I will try to recycle the devices again.

  • Can't print from iPad to brand new Photosmart Prem eAIO C310 - says "No AirPrint Printers Found"

I spent 70 mins on the phone with Apple.  They couldn't get it to work.  Have ios 5 on the iPad and have reset it to brand new settings twice.  Have both the ipad and the printer sitting within 3 feet of the router.
The printer  works seamlessly with a laptop using Vista and another laptop using Windows 7.
It is only with the iPad that it won't work - and that is the only reason I bought this printer, so I could print from the iPad.
I have followed 5 of the 6 steps in order on the "The Printer is not Found,' 'No Printers Found,' or 'Printer is Offline' Message Displays on the iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch" HP help document.
The only thing I haven't done is verify that my router can forward Bonjour packets. (we are doing that right now)
The bluetooth setting on the iPad is off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello suesheldon,
I’m sorry to hear that you are having and issue but here are a few questions/suggestions:
Does the printer have the most current updates
Have you ever been able to print from your iPhone before?
Try a AdHoc Connection Test.  This connect the Ipad to the printer bypassing the router.
Start by restoring network defaults on the printer-go to setup-wireless-restore network defaults-yes
Once defaults have been restored turn on the wireless connection on the printer. -  do NOT connect it to your wireless network at this time.
On you Ipad got to Settings-Wifi-Choose a network-  look for the network that starts with HPC310 and select it.
Wait about 3 minutes to make sure the ad hoc connection is established.
Once this is done try to print.  If it prints, then the issues is most likely in the router.
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

    Hi to the Mac Folks,
I have 10.6.8 and have installed two new printers HP 8610 and an Epson 7880 and can not find the Page Set-up menu anywhere in the applications I a trying to print from. This is regardless of either printer selected.
I primarily print photos from Photoshop CS5.  The term Page Set-up has gone missing in the file pull down menu. Can't make any choices  There are no page sizes, paper types, appearsto be locked on a 13x19 size paper format. Either being too large or too small.
Saw a 2008 locked issue about this however none of the help fit my situation, options discussed are not available to me.
Preview has no "Page Setup" - or does it?
Does the constant struggle with computer compatability weirdness issues ever end or is it a enslavement scheme?

    Hey,
if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders.  You can then navigate all the contents as normal.

  • I can't print from my Blackberry....when I select "I know my printers address" and I type this

I can't print from my Blackberry  9900 to my HP photosmart 5510 (but have wireless printing from my iPad working fine). In the BB I select the "my Printers" option and then go to "I know the printers address" option. I then type in the customised email address that I used on setting up the printer (that ends in @hpeprint.com)  but it then comes back saying "Printer not found! Please check the address and try again". What should I do ? Many thanks.

I would try setting the account to allowed senders only first, and then add the email you registered the blackberry eprint app with to the allowed list. This should hopefully resolve the issue.

  • Printing from the Delivery Engine to non CUPS enable printers

    Hello,
I have a EBS R12.1.1 customer who has a requirement to either Email or Print AR Invoices. However, they have rejected using BIP the Bursting and Delivery Engine because their printers are not CUPPS enabled and they dont want them to be. So instead they have designed a custom solution which forces the invoice print to run for an individual invoice at a time. Obviously this is now causing them some performance issues.
Is there a workaround that is used to get round the restriction that the delivery engine can only to to CUPS enabled printers?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi,
Assuming you are generating PDF output you can actually print via Delivery Manager directly to printers without a CUPS installation as long as the print itself is enabled for IPP requests.
This is done on the print server itself using Microsoft Internet Information Services (MIIS) and will need to be done by the clients infrastructure team. Once it has been enabled you can navigate to the print server via a web browser using the supported syntax (something like http://<print_host>/.printer - check internet for syntax). You will then see a list of printers enabled for IPP printing on that server. You will be able to click on the printer which will take you to a standard page showing the current printer status. After selecting the printer, make a note of the URL from the print server as you will need this.
You can then use delivery manager to submit a request entering the print server for DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.IPP_HOST and the path to the printer and printer name for DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.IPP_PRINTER_NAME.
You will also need to convert your PDF file to PostScript so that the printer can interpret it. See documentation on using GhostScript (pdf2ps) to do this. Once the conversion utility has been installed on the server you can set DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.IPP_DOCUMENT_FORMAT_POSTSCRIPT and DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.FILTER to the executable on the server which will perform the conversion.
Some of the newer models of printer support PDF natively in which case you won't have to perform the conversion (which can cause a slight shifts in the report layout since the PDF file is actually converted using an algorithm).
One other thing, you won't be able to use the same approach for faxing to IPP enabled devices. In this case you definitely need the CUPS request broker having been through a lot of pain in trying to get it working.
    Good luck.

  • Canon Printer Software 2.3 from Apple: now lists two printers

    ISSUE:
I recently ran Apple Software Update, and it installed *Canon Printer software update 2.3*. I now have 2 Canon iP4300 printers in my printer list (System Prefs/Print & Fax) and in all print dialogs.
Is it OK to delete one?
    These are listed:
    Canon iP4300 (original)
Canon iP4300-1 (newly added and now shown as the "default" printer)
*_2nd QUESTION: EVERYTHING THE SAME EXCEPT..._*
Everything prints as usual without problems (regardless of which printer I choose), and the options and features of both listed printers appear to be the same. But there is one minor difference I want to check. In System Preference/Print & Fax, I click the "Options & Supplies" button to give me more info about the selected printer.
Canon iP4300 (the original) shows this:
    Queue name: Canon_iP4300
    *URL: usb://Canon/iP4300?serial=A2BD20*
Canon iP4300-1 (the newly added printer) shows this:
    Queue name: CanoniP43001
    *URL: usb://Canon/iP4300?location=26200000*
Does anyone know what these URLs signify and why are they different?
    Thanks so much.
+P.S. I had installed all the latest drivers for my printer from the Canon web site BEFORE installing Canon update 2.3 from Apple.+

    L.A.B. wrote:
The previous driver version was 10.26.0.0, which I had downloaded from Canon. (The Canon Canada Downloads site does not show a 10.26.1 for this model; the most recent is 10.26.0 -- honest; I just double-checked it today.)
The 10.26.1 driver was included with the 10.6.3 (build 10D575). Canon Australia is also only showing 10.26.0 also so I'm not sure where the .1 update came from. The vendor supplies the files to Apple so it seems that Canon has not updated their driver links to show even the latest 10.30.3.0 driver they have supplied to Apple for this model, although they have done so for other models.
Anyway, let me remedy my omission by showing all that is listed for each printer's info (System Prefs > Print & Fax > Options & Supplies > "General Tab"):
*Canon iP4300 (the original) shows this:*
    Name: Canon iP4300
    Location: LAB's Computer
    Queue name: Canon_iP4300
    Driver version: 10.30.3.0
    URL: usb://Canon/iP4300?serial=A2BD20
*Canon iP4300-1 (the newly added printer) shows this:*
    Name: Canon iP4300-1
    Location: LAB's Computer
    Queue name: CanoniP43001
    Driver version: 10.30.3.0
    URL: usb://Canon/iP4300?location=26200000
Thanks for the extra information. I would say now that due to the different URL of iP4300-1, the Mac believes that it is connecting to two physically different printers, hence both printer queues being present. However I have never seen a USB connected device show its URL with "location=". I have always seen it as serial for USB connections. Do you have some other device connecting between the Mac and the iP4300, such as a USB hub?
Given that both queues work and are both using the latest driver, then I suggest it would be safe to delete the iP4300-1 print queue. Although there is every chance that it may return automatically after a restart of the Mac or printer.

That might have been the situation for the beta's and first RC's, but I have a final build. Plus the fact that other Windoze notebooks see the printer on the Vista box just fine leads one to believe it is a mac/Vista specific issue.
If anyone actually has experience with a MAC and Vista , I would appreciate hearing from you.

I have a new Macbook pro and need to run some Windows software, it appears "Parallel" should work well from what I've have read. Will I have any issues or problems accessing and printing from various printers on my Windows 7 network within Parallel? Is Parallel in fact the best way to go?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.
