Printing from Windows XP via an Airport Express

This might be helpful for anyone who has the same problem with their printer...
If you configure an printer via windows connecting via tcp/ip default most people use RAW_9100 or LPR, problem is that so far all printers I tested from Canon seem to have problems with LPR and completely do not work with RAW_9100...
Fix:
Simply change the RAW port to 9101, don't forget to remove all tasks from your printer queue first before changing.
If other people have the same problem and maybe a other solution please post here

Yes this finally made my Canon S300 print from XP while connected to an Airport Express. Other Macs on the network could print just fine. The XP Bonjour Printer Wizard was absolutely useless in trying to create a working printer. Here are the steps I took.
START > Settings > Printers and Faxes
“Add a printer”
Click Next
“Local printer attached to this computer”
“Create a new port” / select Standard TCP/IP Port from the pulldown requestor
Click Next
Enter the IP address of the Airport Express in “Printer Name or IP Address”
While entering the IP address the box below should automatically fill itself in as the same IP address and should insert “IP_” before it (after you have finished entering the first box)
Click Next
Check the “Custom” radio button
Click “Settings” next to it
**this is the important weird part that finally made my Canon printer work**
Change the “Port Number” to 9101
Click OK
Click Next
Click Finish
Select the Brand and Make (driver) of your printer
I clicked “Keep Existing Driver”
Give it a name or leave the one it created in “Printer Name”
Select whether or not you want it as the default printer
Select whether or not you want to share it (probably not since other can access it over the network in their own way)
Go ahead a print a test page and rejoice when it finally prints (I did)

You will need to install an App like Print Central on the iPad to try to print to the printer. It will allow you to print to most printers. Check with their support folks if you need more info.

  • I am having problems printing from my iPad via my AirPort Extreme network.

I am having no success printing from my iPad via my AirPort Extreme based local network. I can use this to print wirelessly from my iMac OS X 10.7.5 and MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8. I have 2 printer options: HP Laserjet (B&W) P1005 hard-wired to the iMac and HP Photosmart 7760 hard-wired to the AirPort Extreme. I believe I have checked all the correct boxes to enable the network and the iPad to connect, including ensuring that it is using the same network but when I try to select a printer I get the message that no printer can be found. Will it not work with an AirPort Extreme based network or only if this is connecting to wirelessly enabled printers which I do not have.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi,
Apple's AirPrint only support specific models while using wired or wireless network connection.
Plugging a printer into a USB port of Apple base is not supported for AirPrint:
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsules are not supported with AirPrint.

  • Printing from Windows XP via AirPort to printer connected via USB to iMac

Hello. I have an iMac (with Leopard, MacOS 10.5) and a Windows XP notebook, both connected to the internet wirelessly via an AirPort Express unit. Do you know if I could connect physically (via a USB cable) a regular laser printer to the iMac and be able to print wirelessly from the Windows XP notebook via AirPort?

It should work. Enable Printer Sharing via System Preferences -> Sharing. The Mac does need to be turned on.

  • Found a fix for printing from Mac and PC using Airport Express!

I hope this helps somebody else because it's taken me hours and hours of frustration to trip over this solution. I have a MacBook, Airport Express and a Windows XP PC. Internet worked fine but I could not print form the PC via airport. I tied all the various links from iFelix (thanks to him for what sure seems like a lot of work to help others) but they didn't work. Here's what did...
To setup a printer using the Bonjour Printer Wizard:
    1. Download the Bonjour for Windows installation package from the
    Apple site http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bonjour/.
    2. Install Bonjour for Windows by launching the BonjourSetup.exe file from the folder where place it was downloaded.
    3. Start the Bonjour Printer Wizard either by clicking its icon on the desktop or by selecting Start -> Programs -> Bonjour -> Bonjour Printer Wizard.
    4. Follow the installation steps until the Install Bonjour Printer screen appears.
    5. In the Install Bonjour Printer screen, select Generic in the Manufacturer list and then Generic / Postscript in the Model list. This step is the same for any printer model you have.
    6. Follow the rest of installation steps.
The key is the Generic and Generic/Postscript settings. I also set up the Parallels program on my Mac. These instructions come from their documentation. It's the only thing I've found that works. Hope it helps some of you!

  • Printing from wired PC to wireless AirPort Express

    Need some help, please.
I have an EPSON RX680 Connected to AirPort Express, which is joined to my existing wireless netork. I am able to print from my wireless laptop, but not my desktop, which is wired to my Lynksys wireless router.
The AirPort utility on the Desktop recognizes the AirPort Express and that the printer is attached there, but I have tried to manually add the printer using the TCP/IP 10.0.1.1 and other variations, such as port name IP_10.0.1.1 and 10.0.1.1_1 (the second one auto populated), but nothing is working right now.
Is it possible to print from the desktop wired through the lynksys to the printer connected to the Express when the Express is "piggybacking"? I do not have a wireless card on the desktop.
    Thank you!

You have to use the Bonjour Printer Wizard. If it's not showing on your Start Menu, uninstall Bonjour and then download it from Apple (http://support.apple.com/downloads/BonjourforWindows) and install again - the shortcut will be created.

  • Problems printing from OS-X via timecapsule (Airport extreme)

Just bought 500GB Time Capsule with my Macbook Pro and Brother HL-2070N. I have connected the printer via Cat 5 and provided it a static IP of 10.0.1.199 (airport is 10.0.1.1).
I can print a test page via the Brother BRAdmin software tool, which means I am talking to the printer. When I create the printer under the System Preferences (printers & faxes), it 'validates' the printer address and does not give an error message.
HOWEVER, when I try to print using this 'named' printer using the OS-X print option on word or safari, it spools the job but shows the status as STOP. I press PAUSE and RESTART in the printer spool status box, and get a response that "Cannot resume client connection error".
Any suggestions on how to print using Cat 5 and Time Capsule?
    thanks

  • Print from Windows desktop via network, when the printer was first set up on a Mac

My new printer works fine from my Mac mini. It is set up on my local network through a BT hub router, wirelessly, Bonjour enabled. When I try to set it up in addition to work from a Windows 8.1 desktop, the printer is recognised and the print-job goes to the print queue but then vanishes from the queue without any printing having started.I have tried using Wireless Direct for the Windows computer but it doesn't seem to help.I will now uninstall and re-install the Officejet on the 8.1 using the disc and see if that helps.I understand (is this right?) that enabling printer sharing doesn't help, as there are two different OS (Mac and MS).Any help would be very welcome.I had before another HP printer (Photosmart B110a) for the windows 8.1 (and on the Mac) and it never seemed properly installed on the Windows computer either. But it did print (but not scan etc.)

This problem is a result of a limitation in Windows 9x regarding the size of an image that you can send to the printer. The problem does not occur on Windows 2000/NT. This problem appeared with the increased color options of LabVIEW 6.0 on which the BB1.2 is based.Although it is not immediately obvious, your video driver and settings play a role in printing.
    1. Try adjusting the color palette your driver uses (i.e., 256 color, high olor, true color). The error may occur only in one of these modes. Also, change the resolution (number of pixels) to represent the Screen Area; e.g., change from a 1024 x 768 display to an 800 x 600 pixel display.
2.Certain video drivers also support "acceleration" modes. Using a non-accelerated mode often eliminates the error. For
Windows 95/98, right-click on your My Computer icon and select "Properties" from the pop-up
menu. On the Performance tab, click the Graphics button and change the Hardware Acceleration (e.g., if it is set to "Full", lower the setting a notch or two); for Windows 2000/NT, right-click on your Desktop and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu. On the Settings tab, click the Advanced button and go to
    Troubleshooting.
3.In Windows, the standard VGA driver provided by the operating system is very stable. Try using this driver in place of the specific one written for your video hardware. If the error is eliminated, there is likely a problem with your vendor-provided video driver.
4.These errors are most often fixed with the latest
video/printer driver. Be sure to contact your hardware manufacturer and install the latest driver. An easy way to determine if your error is "driver-related" is to move your code to another machine (and hopefully a different set of drivers) and see if th
e error persists. If the problem is printer related, try another printer.
5.Make sure there are at least 100M avalible space in your C: drive. If not, set the virtual memory to the other drive which has larger available space.

  • Airport Express Wireless Printing from Windows 8

I'm in the process of configuring a new laptop that came with Windows 8.  I want to be able to print wirelessly to an HP PSC 1315 printer connected to an Airport Express, which I had been doing successflly from an XP Pro machine that just died.  I am able to: (1) print wirelessly to the printer from a new MacBook Air (so wireless printing does work); (2) connect the Win8 machine to the internet via the Airport Express network (so the wireless network connection is OK); and (3) print from the Win8 machine to the printer when it's directly connected to a USB port (so the printer drivers are OK).  I have installed Bonjour 2.0.2 on the Win8 machine, but it's not seeing any printers.  I've also installed the Airport Utility (both 5.5.3.2 and 5.6.1.2) on the Win8 machine, but it's not finding any Airport wireless devices either.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Steve
P.S.  Incidentally, I can't install a viable Airport Utilty (AU) on the Air since the versions that will work with my older AEs (5.5.3 and 5.6.1.2) won't install on the Air.  The Air will only install 6.1, which won't talk to my older AEs.  Apple suggested I install 5.x on another Mac and then port it to the Air via a stick.  But I don't have another Mac.  Grrr.

Unfortunately, connecting your printer to the AirPort Express does not make it AirPrint compatible. You need to have a specific AirPrint compatible printer to be able to print directly to the printer using your iPad.
Check this Apple support document for more details on AirPrint.

If you have a Mac, you might be able to use a workaround using an app like Printopia. There is a free trial, so you will know in a matter of minutes whether this will work for you or not. Just remember that your Mac must be running in order for this to work.

  • Can't print from iBook G4 via Windows XP to an HP PSC 1410

    Hello,
I realize this question is very similar to others on this discussion but I haven't been able to find an answer to my problem.
I cannot print from my iBook via XP to an HP PSC 1410.
I can print from my iBook via XP to an HP LaserJet 4L.
I was able to print from my iBook via XP to an HP882C that was connected
to the same USB port that the HP PSC 1410 is connected to now.
    I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.3
I have a PC running XP with an HP LaserJet 4L on a parallel port and an HP PSC 1410 on a USB port.
I installed the following from http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
    hpijs-foomatic-2.02.ppc.dmg
    espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg
    HP-PSC_1400-hpijs.ppd
I think I correctly followed the instructions at:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3015.html
They worked for the LaserJet printer.
When I attempt to print from the iBook to the 1410 the HP doesn't print at all.
I don't see any error messages on the iBook. The document gets spooled onto the Windows print spooler, the printer even starts making noises, the print heads move about a bit and then stop. The print job just sits there in the queue with a status of "Printing". The print job is then stuck and hard to delete.
I don't need to be able to scan or check ink levels from the iBook.
I would just like to be able to do color printing.
What else should I try? Given the symptoms where might I be going wrong?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi all,
I finally figured out what the issue was, Why it fixes it I can not say,
    but it does.
On the Shared printer on the Windows side, go to the properties of the Printer.
Go to the Ports tab, and deselect the "Enable bidirectional Support" (do not
have it checked). Once this is done and you also do not have any firewalls
setup on the Windows machine (Windows, MCAfee, Norton, ....). You should be
    able to print.
Finally!!!!! I hope this helps many many people. As I have had many
people asking for the solution if I found it.
    Thanks,
    Steven Stuart

  • Cannot print from Windows or Mac OS

I have a Windows 7 PC and a MacBook Pro sharing printers via an Airport Express. Suddenly, jobs sent to the PSC 2175 would not print.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the software (Mac OS X and Bonjour) will not find the printer--it's not listed as an option.
I tried connecting the printer directly to the Windows 7 PC and "Plug and Play" did not work. I used the Wizard to install the printer to LPT1 and a test page would not print.
I'm using a USB cable, and it isn't the cable, because I swapped it with another printer and it works fine.

    Hi there @Gidget56!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to provide some help regarding the  PSC 2175 communicating with the Mac and the Windows computer. The first thing I suggest is to plug the printer into the wall outlet directly if it is currently in a power surge protector or extension cord. This may sound silly but this will ensure the printer is getting full power and may eliminate any unnecessary troubleshooting. If the printer is no longer getting full power from the power surge or extension cord it may give false errors, have poor connection, paper feed issues and quality issues.
For the Windows computer I recommend removing the USB cable and running a Disk Cleanup.  Once the cleanup is finished restart the computer and try adding it again using the plug and play method.  If that does not work you can manually add the printer again from devices and printer.  When you manually add the printer you can choose an alternate driver for the printer to use.
Once you are in Devices and printers click Add Printer at the top of the window.  Choose "add a local printer" and use the same LPT1 port and click next.  On the left click HP and on the right click HP Deskjet 9800.  Click next and name the printer PSC 2175.  Finish adding the printer and try printing again.
To perform a Disk Cleanup click: Performing a Disk Cleanup
For the Mac computer make sure the printer is removed and run a repair disk permission.  A repair disk permissions is a utility built into the Mac designed to locate issues and repair them.  It will improve computer performance and may repair an error regarding the printer.  After the Repair Disk Permissions is complete add the printer again and try printing.
