- still not working, and i can't remember how i did this. need
HELP - this is why i got a MAC, it's supposed to be smarter.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Check your monitor calibration and set the gamma to 2.2, adjust a photo to the brightness you like and print a test. See if that works.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • PC running Windows 7 with Photoshop Elements 7 printing to an EPSON Stylus PHOTO R1800

Please help!  I am an amateur photographer. This printer produced excellent photos until my old PC died. I just bought a new Dell XPS 9000 with Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and connected my printer. The photos look terrible.  Clearly, the PC and Printer are not working together properly (syncronized COLOR wise). To consistently obtain the best, life-like colors in my pictures, what do I need to do?  WHICH (Photoshop Elements or the Epson) should manage the color, and what settings should I use?  Each has a setting to allow the other to control the color.  Which will produce the best photos? I have tried many different combinations of settings without success. All of my photos come out brownish yellow. I am feeling desperate. I am an older, retired person with a limited understanding of computers, so I need simple,detailed,step-by-step instructions on how to correct this problem.  Thank you.

  • Using iMac, Aperture 3, and & Epson Stylus Photo R1800 printer: How come my prints look like trash?

I have calibrated my iMac Intel Core i3 and printing through Aperture 3 with an Epson Stylus Photo R1800 is not producing great results. Cyan is dominating along with blue lines through the grass in the picture. I figure the lines are a result of clogged head...but the fact the prints are not close to the image on the screen is alarming. HELP!!!

    SFSteinie,
There is an Aperture forum, I'd recommend reposting there and perhaps another R I 1800 users has some insight you may not know about.

  • Epson Stylus Photo R1800 on Linksys Printer server

hi, I'm currently running Tiger 10.4.11 on my power book G4 and trying to connect to a network printer on a Linksys Print Server (PSUS4). The printer connected to the server is an Epson Stylus Photo R1800.
I'm able to print perfectly from my computer via USB direct, but when I try to find the printer as a network printer I can't locate it.
The print utilities finds the location of printer from the Linksys server, but none of my drivers are coming up that are compatible to the printer when it finds it like that.
When the printer is turned on the print browser cannot find it at all, but when it's turned off the browser comes up with the name Linsys gave it to be discovered. It says it's connected via AppleTalk, but when I click on it to try to add the driver doesn't come up. BUT it's the correct driver when I connect manually.
What am I doing wrong? I was on the phone with tech support for an hour and 24 minutes only to be told (when transferred to a specialist) that they aren't trained for this kind of thing, neither is Linksys (who I spoke to for 30 minutes). I read the thread on the similar issue to this and don't think that it's a driver issue, but a print server issue, what do you think??
    thanks for any help.
    -melissa

Driver issue - the driver provided by Epson was written for USB only (well, maybe Firewire too for the 1800). You will have to use either the Gutenprint driver or the printfab driver for network printing:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3
    http://www.printfab.net
Sounds like your print server will work via appletalk -- but, if you want to try IP printing, don't forget to enter the correct queue name for the LPD and IPP protocols.

  • Print quality on Epson Stylus Photo R800

    Hi...
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. This printer is capable of printing very high quality pictures, as I know by using it for almost 5 years.
I have bought Lightroom about 6 month ago. I have tried anything I can think off to get those fabulus pictures out of my Epson printer. I alterd color managment settings, changed print resolutions, downloaded new printerdriver, ... Nothing works. Print quality when printing from Lightroom is very poor. Bad colors (dark), stripes over the whole image, it looks like nothing realy.
One of the things that I noticed is that the maximum resolution for printing in LR is 720 ppi. My Epson is capable of 1550 ppi.
I see a lot of discussion going about print quality with lightroom... I think however this is a more basic problem. My print qualiti is realy very very bad...
Does anyone have similar problems or (even better) a hint to a solution?
    Note,
When I export a picture to .jpg format (I shoot in RAW only), and print this directly from Windows, I do get the perfect picture a was used to... I cannot believe that Lightroom is unable to do the same.
    Thanks!
    Erik.

  • Epson Stylus Photo R1800 now working

I'm posting this because I found help here and hope this will be useful. When I switched to Leopard on my Mac Pro, my R1800 printer stopped working. First it printed everything in a washed out draft mode. Then, even after doing what was suggested in this forum, I still couldn't get back t my original dialogue box, which seemed to be the only way to activate the gloss optimizer for real photo quality.
This is how I got back to a fully functioning printer (Note: don't skip any steps, like I did initially).
    1. Open up the print and fax dialogue box in system preferences. Highlight the Epson printer and click on the "minus box" to delete that printer driver.
    2. Restart your computer (very important)
    3. Go to the Epson Website (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 14121&infoType=Downloads) and download Epson EasyPrint v3.1bA and Printer Driver v3.0aAs.
    4. Install both downloads.
    5. Open up the print and fax dialogue box again. If the Epson R1800 shows up again, highlight it and click on the minus sign to delete it again. Then click on the "plus" sign and add the R1800 back.
    6. Look for the menu that says "Print Using." Make sure to select Epson SP R1800 (1) and not the Gutenprint option.
    7. Close the dialogue box and you should be good to go.
This procedure returned my original (pre-Leopard) set of options to the R1800 and, once again, I'm getting nice prints.
Note: I do have to access that menu in a new way from Photoshop
    a. make sure the triangle next to Epson Stylus Photo R1800 in the print dialogue box is pointing up to reveal the expanded menu selection.
    b. under the popup menu where "layout" is listed, select "Print Settings" and you should se the menu you are used to for the R1800.
    I hope this helps.

    Kent,
The problem here is that the original poster is using an Intel-based Mac (Mac Pro). The driver he is referring to ONLY supports Intel-based Macs (Printer Driver v3.0aAs). So, not to put too fine a point on it, but the post should have been entitled "Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Now Working for Intel-Mac - Others SOL" (grin).
Apparently Epson doesn't think many of us have computers more than a couple years old - and that they shouldn't have to support them.
The printing problem is one that has been well documented and the lack of drivers apparently only affects those "ancient" PowerPC models, not the Intel-Macs.
So, the only current solution that I have found to date is:
    1. Replace your decrepid computer with a new Intel-Mac (about $7k in my case)
    2. Replace your Epson printer (I hear that the HP B9180 printers are working) and hope the new one works with your ancient PowerPC.
    3. Hope that Epson gets around to writing a driver for us before our photo business go belly-up.
    Full Disclosure:
Somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but still extremely frustrated.

  • Epson Stylus Photo R1800: successful Firewire install on Intel iMac?

Has anyone been able to succesfully install the Epson Stylus Photo R1800 on an Intel iMac using the Firewire connection?
After installing the Intel drivers from the Epson website, if I connect the printer via the USB cable the printer and associated driver show up in the Printer Setup Utility just fine. But if I connect the printer via the Firewire cable I just see a printer named "E" in the printer setup utility and no R1800 driver at all.
Epson support just keeps instructing me to uninstall and reinstall the driver.
I've hunted around in the discussions here and have noticed some people having trouble with this particular printer, but I've been unable to establish whether anyone has been succesful with the Intel iMac/Firewire combination.
iMac 20" Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I am printing with a firewire connection. I have an intel iMac. Prior to buying the R1800, I checked out Epson's site for new intel printer drivers. A new update has been posted with an alert about the bundled software that comes with the R1800-don't install it! And if it was installed there's an uninstall walk through. The software did not come anywhere near my new imac. I downloaded the new software and I am printing with a firewire connection. I have one issue with the download. I can't print CDs because the application is on the original software cd. I contacted Epson and asked if I could install just the CD print software and not the printer driver. I will be waiting for an answer. I installed the software on a powerPC imac tiger. The printer is firewire connected and there are no printing problems, I can even print CD labels.
    I will post epson's response.

  • Problem using Print CD on Epson Stylus Photo RX700

I recently installed OS 10.5.1 (leopard) on my iMac (intel core duo) and my Epson Stylus Photo RX700 all-in-one printer appears to be working okay, except when I try to use the Print CD application, I get a message "Epson printer driver dealing with CD printing is not installed". I tried downloading updates from the epson.com site ( 1- Epson Easy Print v3.1bA for intel, 2- TWAIN Driver & Epson Scan Utility v3.02A, 3- Printer Driver v3.0aAS), but I still get the same message. Any suggestions? -Don

You need to add the Epson drivers from the OS X Install disk. Below is what Epson sent me. Note that when you re-add the Printers, there no longer is a Printer Set Up Utility, go into Preferences > Print & Fax and do it from there. Worked for me. Good Luck.
    REMOVE FILES
    1.  Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    2.  Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    3.  Double click on the PRINTERS folder.
    4.  Drag the EPSON folder to the trash can.
    5.  Close any open windows.
    6.  Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    7.  Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    8.  Double click on the RECEIPTS folder.
    9.  Delete any EPSON receipts.
    10. Close all open windows and restart your computer.
    REINSTALL THE EPSON DRIVER PACKAGE
    1. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 Install disc. Open CD when it appears on the
    desktop.
    2. Find and double-click on the Optional Installs.mpkg.
    3. After the installer opens, choose the following custom install options:
-Check PRINTER DRIVERS and use arrow next to this entry to expand this
    category.
-Check EPSON below the PRINTER DRIVERS heading. (You do not need to
    install other manufacturer's packages.)
    4. Click INSTALL (or UPGRADE) and follow prompts to reinstall the resident
Epson printer driver package. Remove the OS CD and then restart the
    computer after installation is complete.
    READD THE PRINTER
    1. Go into HD > Applications > Utilities and open the Printer Setup
Utility. The PRINTER LIST window appears.
    2. Highlight and delete any existing references to your Epson printer. (If
you want to be thorough and do not have any other printers on the Mac,
choose PRINTER SETUP UTILITY from the top of the screen and RESET PRINTING
SYSTEM. Confirm resetting the system. This clears any existing printer
entries and queues. If you have other printers on the Mac and use this
reset, you will need to readd them later.)
    3. Turn the printer OFF and back ON to make the Mac redetect it and add it
to the list automatically. (Do not change the PRINT USING field. Selecting
EPSON here would add a GIMP Print driver which does not support all of the
functions of the resident Epson driver. Epson does not support or recommend
    these third party drivers.)
    4. If you have other printers on the list, make the Epson entry the
    default.
    5. Close the Printer Setup Utility and try a test print from any OS X-based
    application.
*NOTE: If the printer does not show up on the list, it may mean a lack of
detection. Ensure the printer is online (no red error lights) and connected
directly to the Mac. Try moving the cable end to other USB ports, if need
be. If you have not done so already, you can also try resetting the Printer
    Setup Utility, as described above.
If you are working with a printer model which supports borderless and/or
roll paper printing options, you will be able to select these options in
the program you are printing from as you set up your print job.
    1. Once you have an image or file open, go to File > Page Setup.
    2. For FORMAT FOR select the Epson printer name (rather than ANY PRINTER)
    3. Select the appropriate Paper Size. If your printer supports different
layout features, each paper size will have several different options. For
example, the 4x6 paper size will have an arrow pointing right which offers
choices of 4x6 Borderless, 4x6 Standard-Minimize Margins, etc. Pick the
paper type plus layout/margin option you want to use here.
    4. Click OK on Page Setup. You are now ready to print.

  • CD printer driver for Epson Stylus Photo R265

Just bought an Intel iMac 20" together with a Epson Stylus photo R265. It should print CD's and DVD's but, every time I try to print these, it tells me that the CD printer driver has not been installed.
After reinstalling the drivers from the cd which came together with the printer it still didn't print CD's. Also installing the drivers from the Epson website didn't do the job.
After discussing this problem with people from the Epson helpdesk, they answered that the CD printing feature only works on powermacs and that Rosetta should do the trick on Intel based Macs. Knowing that Rosetta operates automatically in OS 10.4.8, this answer was unsatisfying.
I now consider to buy a Canon printer but I am not sure if these printers (cd printer drivers) have the same problem with Intel based Macs.
Does anyone know a proper solution?

  • Troubleshooting - NEW Epson Stylus Photo R1800

Ok, here goes...Bought a brand new A3 Epson R1800, nice looking piece of kit but unfortunately that's all it is, because as yet I've not been able to do a single printout with the bloody thing!
Just to clarify, after following the setup guide you receive with your printer, cartridges and required sheet feeders etc., were all as I'm aware loaded correctly, then I set about installing the software on the provided disks. It took a while but all seemed to load successfully.
Now I am very aware that the printer driver provided on these disks is considered not suitable for the Intel Macs, so the newer driver available has been downloaded and installed. However aside of the driver issue non of the extra packages on the disk appear to work and I receive pop ups RE: drivers not being installed etc.
While ignoring the other "extra software" which if I'm honest I don't really need to control the printer, the printer utility software does appear to be ok and checks ink levels and does appear to give me access to nozzle checks etc., but the problem seems to be arising with the actual A4 paper feeder.
To check colour management I wanted to do some test work using Adobe Indesign CS, as this will be where most of the work I want to print will be set, so I went to print the normal way checking settings. The printer starts to process data and then nothing happens apart from the 'Green On' button flashing accompanied by the top red light which then stays on giving me a message saying "media out or not loaded correctly".
Now I'm either being pretty stupid here or just plain daft but there's no other way that the paper can be put in. There's plenty in (not too much). It's simply driving me crazy! I do admit that I have yet to try A3, but paper isn't cheap at the best of times so not looking to waste my much needed supply trying to get this thing to print!
Has anyone else experienced paper feed problems or just problems in general with this R1800 for Intel mac.
    20" Imac Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2Ghz 2Gb Memory

    Thanks for a response.
Yep, I did all of this and have been onto Epson's site and loaded there new driver. Also completely reset printer and rebooted.
I have however recently learnt that there are issue regarding Paper not loading correctly. If anyone is interested to learn more about the R1800 its worth checking out.
    http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/interactive/Epson%20R1800/page_1.htm
I did manage to get something out of the printer today but still haven't solved the A4 media loading correctly.
Unfortunately still awaiting more news from Intel Mac users

  • I upgraded from OS 10.4.11 to 10.6.8 and now cannot print to my Epson Stylus Photo RX595. When I try, I recieve the following error message: Error:/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed. Is this a driver issue?

Is my inability to print from my Intel iMac with OS 10.6.8 related to a driver problem? I checked the Epson website for up-to-date drivers, but they appear to only have print drivers good through OS 10.5x. I did the Apple software update yesterday so everything is up-to-date. Is there no support for the Epson RX545 under OS 10.6x?

When you upgrade from a previous OS there is always a chance that you will bring some setting that is not compatible with the new OS. This can be the driver as noondaywitch suggests but it can also be the core printing system. In the case of the latter, it is a good idea to reset the printing system when a core error occurs. Note that the reset sets the printing system back to default and removes your currently installed printer and scanner queues. But it does not remove the supporting drivers, so you only need to install the driver again.
How to Reset the Printing System
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Scan/Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac
Just one additional thing to note. In checking the supported printer list for 10.6 from Apple, your RC545 is not listed so running the Software Update will not provide you with a driver for this printer. So if Epson does not have a driver for 10.6, and it appears that Apple does not provide one, then what you have already from the previous installation is it. And if this doesn't work, then you may have to look at either an alternate driver or getting another printer. But let's wait and see what happens after the reset.

  • Printer Driver. EPSON Stylus Photo 1280

Hi, I'm just setting up my printer for use on my MacBook Pro. I initially installed the Printer driver provided by EPSON and had the driver working fine. Afterwards, I setup a home network and am currently accessing the printer through my network. The printer is hooked up to my desktop, which is running XP Pro.
Now when I try to access my printer through the network, on my MacBook, which i'm running Mac OS X, 10.5.6, I can print, but it is using the OS X software, and I cannot figure out how to the EPSON driver as the driver allows me to use all the quality settings. If anyone can provide any help to me on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Former Windows users are often dismayed to find out that print drivers on OS X aren't like on Windows. Apple has allowed printer manufacturers to continue using legacy print methods (Carbon) - where whoever writes the driver gets to choose exactly which comm protocol(s) are supported. Your Epson print driver is for USB connection only. Apple has included GutenPrint drivers (new CUPS drivers that can use any comm protocol) to help us print via the CUPS network protocols like Windows Printing. But the Gutenprint drivers aren't provided by Epson and don't have the same options. You might want to try updating your Gutenprint drivers - maybe the newer ones have better option choices.

  • CS4 and Printing to an Epson Stylus Photo R800

I am printing to the above printer and using the Epson Luster Premium Paper. I still get confused about how to set the print settings in Photoshop. Do I choose the document/proof, do I let the printer or Photoshop control the printing, and in the printer dialog box, do I choose ICM/OFF?  Is there a clear set of instructions for consistent prints? I am trying to print B/W and took my PS file and used the Lab Lightness Channel technique to turn my color image into a BW. Should I being doing something to this image before trying to print? Flatten? Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards

    You're on the right track.
In the Photoshop print dialog, under color management, choose
    1. Document
    2. Photoshop Manages Color
    3. Under printer profile, pick the Epson-provided profile for the paper you want.
Then click "Print Settings" to open the Epson printer driver dialog. There you do two things:
    1. Choose the paper type (this is important as it controls the amount of ink)
    2. Choose ICM, and tick "Off". This turns off printer color management.
I don't have your Epson model, but AFAIK it works the same in all of them.
