Printing Greeting cards

I wish to print my own cards using iPhoto 11 (9.1.1). I have chosen a theme and layout but I cant print the pastel-colored borders and patterns, only the photos and the text actually print.
What am I doing wrong?

You will have a problem aligning the front and back of the cards when printing them manually. To get the front and back in register you need to use a 3rd party editor that handles layers.  These tutorials describe how: #8 - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card and #8a - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card to Standard Stock Sizes.
Try the following:  Do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto.  A jpeg image file of each page will be created and imported into iPhoto.
See if they are correct as far as color, etc.  Then you can follow the tutorials to print to your card stock.

  • IPhoto 08 makes it difficult to print greeting cards

It seems to me that it should be easier to print greeting cards yourself from iPhoto. I have tried many ways and there are no options to adjust the print size. No one makes paper the correct size, and printing on a Letter sized page doesn't work. In fact, it seems to crop the bottom of the page off even printing on a larger paper.
Has anyone had luck printing cards? The idea of ordering them seems absurd.

Yes, the card feature is designed to encourage ordering thru Apple. If you have a 3rd party image editor that handles layers, like Photoshop Elements for Mac, you can follow Tutorial #8 to print cards.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problems printing Greeting Cards from iPhoto 6 and 8

I've had this problem since I tried it in iPhoto 6, and that is printing greeting cards in iPhoto doesn't work with my inkjet printer. When the first page prints, it's not centered, so when I flip the page and print page 2, they are not aligned and won't cut correctly. My Aunt is able to print cards from iPhoto but only by doing some long 20 step process of exporting them to jpgs using Preview, then printing them from some custom template in Pages. When Mr. Jobs said "Home Printing" was going to be fixed in '08, I got all excited only to see I'm having the same problems. Any one have any luck with this from inside iPhoto?

    Mark:
If you have a 3rd party editor that can handle layers take a look at Tutorial #8.
    Do you Twango?

  • Best software to print greeting cards

I need a software recommendation to print greeting type cards, messages or notes on card stock ~ 4x5 in. I've used Publisher in the past and was wondering it there's an alternative?

Thanks, dwb! I went ahead and ordered PS2. I actually have always enjoyed figuring out layouts and such, and, as I said in another post, I actually used to use PrintMaster even for kids' school projects when they were in grade school. There were so many things I used it for. But it has just become too difficult to use on my Windows side and was hoping to find something similar for Apple. They already shipped! If that's not fast, I don't know what is! We had Photoshop Elements with our old computer, but I found it far too difficult to comprehend. I think PS2 is probably more for people at my level of technical comprehension.  Thank you again for your help!  Marilyn

  • Printing greeting card

Someone please help!! I'm trying to print a greeting card but the printer keeps cutting off the right end of the card...its an hp deskjet 5740. I've already messed with the margins with no results.

I have a HP 1610 printer. When I go to "Page Set-up" I do have an option for "borderless 5 X 7". But after I print (on a precut 7 x 10 card stock) I still end up with a 3/5" white (unprinted) border on the right hand side of the card - front page, thereby cutting of what would be the color margin and white "frame". I was using Maple Leaf. I must experiment more!
I suppose, Apple really wants us to order the cards from them!
Old Toad - thank you for the Tutorial, but I don't think I would go to all that bother. Thank you anyway for all the details.

  • Printing greeting cards on elements 9

I cannot succssfully print a greeting card on elements 9.  I have finally arrived at the conculsion that duplex printing is not possible.  So I have been trying to print without the duplex feature enabled.  The problem is when the page prints out the picture takes up the whole page - how do I shrink it to make it look like a greeting  card?

Using one of the guides under, "Create?" I don't think those were done with duplex printing in mind (at least when doing home projects).
Could be a printer driver issue in regards to it printing too big. Can you preview before you print? Are the settings correct?

  • Printing Greeting Card Envelopes A9

I have a Photosmart Premium printer and cannot print the greeting card size envelopes. Any help is appreciated..

dlocker, could you provide a little bit more information for the community? Knowing the model Photosmart and operating system you are using could help narrow down troubleshooting. Other things like what application you are printing from and the steps you are using could be helpful as well.

  • HT4007 printing greeting cards with 7" width & 5" height

I print photos on greeting cards with specific dimensions: each greeting card is 7 inches in width & 10 inches in height; each is scored in the middle allowing me to print 2 (5x7") photos per card. Whenever a photo is printed it is not in a landscape mode. It seems to me that Aperture is defaulted to print 5x7" photos with the width being 5" & the height 7". I place the greeting card into the printer with the width being 7" & the height 5" with the orientation being in the portrait mode. To date, I have had no luck printing a photo with the correct orientation on the greeting card.

Have you tried to edit a custom print preset like the above? Page size 10x7 inches,
image siz 5x7, 2 rows, one column, orientation landscape, no borders?
    Works for me.
    Regards

  • Problems printing greeting cards to duplex printer

When I try and print a card to a duplex HP printer, it prints but the front and back pages are incorrectly aligned and the card can't be used.
Do Apple not intend for you to print on your own printer but send away and buy the finished article?
What should the page settings be to get proper results? Is duplex printing not supported?

  • How to print 4-fold greeting cards?

I recently upgraded to iPhoto 6.0.5 with the intent of using it to print one-off greeting cards -- NOT necessarily ordering them from Apple.
Most greeting cards programs I've used in the past allow you to print a card on one-side of one sheet of paper, then fold it in 4, so that it fits nicely in a 4x6 envelope. Not so classy, but easy and fast.
For the life of me, I haven't figured out how to get iPhoto to print greeting cards like this. Is there something obvious that I am missing? Other hints for making quick and easy cards with little printing fuss? Thanks in advance...

I found some software that you can download called Easy Card that allows you to make your own cards or use there templates.
    http://www.scriptsoftware.com/ecc/
I just downloaded it myself as I was looking for a way to do it in Iphoto and as you found out there is no way to do it within Iphoto to print so you can do the four fold thing you talk about.
Anyways there software got good reviews and user reviews as well and I am still playing with it on the trial period right now!
I designed a Birthday/ St Patricks day invitation ( my 11 month old has his 1st birthday coming up on St Patricks day) and the easy card software works great in how it works with Iphoto and my clip art that I have. It has an OSX layout so I found using their controls pretty easy in order to get pictures and text and such into my card.
Check it out! It is a free download for trial and can be purchased for $30
I am just about to do it myself once I am satisfied with my first design!
I need to find more clip art though. Maybe they have more on there website once you purchase it!
Anyone know a good site to get clip art??

  • Trying to print a greeting card side fold all in one 6200

I have  a project using Microsoft Publisher 2007. I'm trying to print a greeting card that is a side fold. The only options I see in the print set up page is "one page or side fold quarter page". I have been able to print a card like this before and have not been able to see what settings I need to change. I know that I have to print both sides so I have to manualy turn the card paper over to print the other side. I have tried to find a answer with vista help, no luck.

Is there really no way? The box or instructions or somewhere it says you can "print greeting cards at home."
