Printing in acrobat pro 9.1

I'm attempting to print a pdf on my new imac out of acrobat 9.1 pro.  I've printed other files to my printer so I know that is not an issue.  This file prints from my old emac, Power PC G4, in acrobat 6 but crashes on the imac in 9.1.  The pdf was created in Indesign cs3.  Any suggestions?

Thank you mat, this info is really very helpful.

  • Can't Duplex print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to Epson Artisan 800

I can not duplex Print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to an Epson Artisan 800.
I an running it from a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.3
I called Epson support and they could not help me.
However they suggested that I try using Adobe Reader.
Well that works OK if I choose to print the document as an image, but I would prefer to just be able to work within Acrobat Pro.
Does anyone outthere have any settings within Acrobat Pro that would enable duplex printing?
    Thanks

  • Cannot Print in Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 (XP Pro SP3), but Other Apps Can

I am unable to print PDFs on my workstation unless I drag them from a Windows Explorer session and drop them on an open printer window (Start, Printers and Faxes, double-click on printer to open window). I have Acrobat 9 Professional (ver. 9.4.2) running under Windows XP Pro (SP3). I cannot print a PDF from within Acrobat or from within a browser window. I have done a "repair install" on Acrobat and rebooted. When I try to print from within Acrobat or a browser window, I do not receive any form of error message. There is no indication of any problem. If I have the printer window open window (Start, Printers and Faxes, double-click on printer to open window) and I try to print from Acrobat or a browser, I never see anything appear in the window, even briefly. If I drag a PDF from Windows Explorer and drop it in the printer window, the document name appears briefly in the window and the document prints.
I have double checked my printer settings from within Acrobat to make sure that it is not "printing to file." The correct printer *is* selected.
I've tried printing to different printers in the office. I've even tried printing to the "virtual printer" which is a front-end to our fax server. No dice. If I monitor the printers folder (which lists every printer that my workstation can print to currently), the "documents" column (which shows the number of documents in the queue to be printed) never changes from zero.
The fact that I can drag a PDF from Windows Explorer and drop it on a printer and get it to print really puzzles me, since I thought that this was only possible if either Acrobat Pro (or other paid version) or Acrobat Reader was installed. That is, I thought that Windows XP cannot print a PDF unless some sort of PDF reader (Acrobat, Nitro, etc.) is installed. Then again, I may be mistaken. *IF* indeed Windows XP doesn't know how to print a PDF without help from a PDF reader of some sort (Acrobat Reader, Nitro, etc.), then how is it that I can drag, drop and print, but I can't print from within Acrobat Pro itself? Meanwhile, all other apps print just fine to any given printer.
FYI... this question has languished for two weeks with no solution at experts-exchange.com. I've never stumped them before. I've never waited more than 24 hours for an answer there before, and usually a solution takes just an hour or two. This suggests to me that my situation is quite rare. Can anyone get me on track?

  • The document could not be printed with Acrobat Pro 9.5.1

All at once the Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9.5.1 gives the error 'The document could not be printed', 'there were no pages select to print'.
I have no idea what the problem is, all printing from other applications is fine, without any problem. A pdf in an email can be printed from my iPhone, but not from the PC (win 7 Ultimate SP1, 64 bit).
All pdf's have this problem, no matter if they stem from a download or made with Word or InDesign.
I de-installed and installed Acrobat Pro, no result. I also de-installed and installed the whole CS4 bundle, no result.
I also re-installed the printer, no luck.
I visited a lot of fora without succes. Is there someone that can help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Cor

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting the problem.
It seems you are unable to print any pdf from Acrobat. You mentioned that you are able to print the same PDFs from iphone and other devices.
Are you able to print from any other application(e.g. word, notepad) from the same machine where you are seeing the issue. It looks to me that your machine is not able to establish contact with the printer but your other devices are able to.
    Please confirm.
    Thanks,

  • Is there easy way to print bookmarks Acrobat Pro 9.5

Is there an easy way to print the bookmarks of an Acrobat file using Acrobat Pro 9.5?
Is there an easy way to expand all headings?
    Thank you

Here is something you can try:
With your file open, and assuming it has all the bookmarks setup:
Simply export to HTML (File > Export > HTML > I picked HTML 3.2). That should create an HTML file.
Open the new HTML file and the first thing you should see is a list of all the bookmarks!!!
This worked for me (I have Adobe 9). Let me know if it works for you.
P.S. After copying the list, I pasted in Word and changed the bullets to numbers by right clicking one of the bullets and selecting Numbering!

  • Color printing From Acrobat PRO 9.0

I am trying to print in color from acrobat pro 9.0 but i get only black & prints.
I found out from previous post that i have to diable the color management. I can change it from File->print->advanced->color management  but I am not abe to save it.
does anybody have the same issue?

Have you tried going back to the default print settings in the Print dialog under the Advanced button and select Acrobat Default under the Settings dropdown?

  • Printing issues Acrobat Pro 9.5x

Suddenly Acrobat Pro 9.5x (Windows XP) won't print anything except B&W. Greyscale & color images are converted into solid black blocky bitmaps. Color text prints as black.
Xerox Phaser 6280DN (Color Laser) only affected on Win XP only. The PDF will print correctly on another printer (Brother 6490CW)
Same PDF will print correctly if printed from Illustrator CS4
Problem is recent: may have occured after installing an Epson Artisan 50 printer driver (not certain about this)
Problem does not occur printing in Acrobat 9.5x from Macs on same network
Printer test pages are normal & printing from other applications is normal
    Troubleshooting steps taken (nothing works)
Uninstalled Epson Artisan 50 printer driver
    Updated Acrobat to 9.5.2
    Uninstalled/reinstalled  Xerox Phaser Postscript driver
    Updated Xerox Phaser firmware
Cosmic rays must have hit some part of the Acrobat print engine. It as though Acrobat is applying some extremely heavy compression to all greyscale & color images. I've looked at all the preferences & cannot find anything unusual.
Reinstalling Acrobat will mean reinstalling all of CS4 right? Uggh...
    Thanks,
    Felicia

I can't believe how simple this answer is, and that if fixed my problem completely. My problem wasn't printing but that I couldn't see large portions of documents. If the document was totally from a scan, nothing would show. At the same time, the same document would open fine in Acrobat Reader or WordPerfect.
I had tried Repair twice. No change. In looking for the mythical (but non-existent!) "reset all Acrobat settings to default"), I found this page. I checked the View Large Images box and bingo, my problems were over. I have no idea how it got unchecked (my cat?).
    Anyway, thanks.

  • Booklet Printing in Acrobat Pro 8 Help!

I am printing 500 of an 18 page - 5 page in the signature - booklet through Acrobat Pro 8.0.1. It takes HOURS for the file to load into the printer and I am only trying to print 50 at a time. I changed the default printer to Adobe PDF 8.0.1 and that did not help. Any tips, hints etc. or should I just flagellate myself for taking this job I thought was going to be so quick and easy! Laughing, but not very hard....
Thank you in advance for any help...
    Kathy
    I am on a Mac...still on Tiger.

It seems as though the PDF is expanding back to postscript when you hit
print and a HUGE postscript file is chugging across the network.
Does your printer support hot-folders? In other words, can you take the
PDF and just DROP into the printer queue? This is the way many systems
these days work - gets away from the donkey work on your end ...

  • FrameMaker 8.0p277 and printing to Acrobat Pro 8 & 9

All this year (2009) I've been working on several contract documents using FrameMaker's conditional text facility.
FrameMaker is 8.0p277 and the OS is Windows XP Pro SP3.
In May the old workstation became cantankerous so I updated to a new HP xw4600 with a Quad Core, 4GB ram, and 2 x 250GB SATA disks. Cool!
I applied all the MS updates and then treated myself to a clean install of Adobe Design Premium CS4, then installed and updated FrameMaker 8.0 (without the PDF Maker). The Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0 in CS4 was patched to 9.1.2.
If I open a document in InDesign CS4 and print it to the 'Adobe PDF' printer everything works just fine. Same for Illustrator CS4.
But FrameMaker fails with this message:
    ... followed by:
I have also attached the most recent FrameLog fiole...
Howsomever, if I print the same document to my HP laserjet 4300dtn (or the laserjet 5200 or the FujiXerox DocuPrint 2100) it works just fine. So I assume the document itself is OK.
If I select the printer to be one of the 3 above and then print to file (and create a .PS file), and then open it in Distiller 9.1.2 it produces a perfect .PDF file (shades of Acrobat 3 and the watched folders here!). But, if I select AdobePDF printer as my output device before generating the .PS file, Distiller reports parsing errors and does not produce output.
With a doffed hat to Arnis and Dov I refrained from trying 'save to PDF'
This looks like a corrupt printer driver...
After talking to Adobe Support (ID 121 702 309) I have tried each of the following (and then re-run my testing cycle as outlined above):
Running the 'Repair Acrobat Installation' process from Acrobat Pro 9.1.2.
Setting Acrobat PDF as my default printer (strong whiff of "eyes of a bat and wings of a newt" about THAT suggestion).
Un-installed and then reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9.1.2.
    Un-installed and reinstalled FrameMaker 8.0p277.
Un-installed and then reinstalled Acrobat Pro 8.1.4.
    Un-installed and reinstalled FrameMaker 8.0p277.
    Sworn loudly.
Anyone have some ideas / fixes / incantations???

    Hi Laurence,
If you can produce PDFs from the AdoebPDF via ID and AI by printing, then I'd suspect that the driver is probably ok. (Note: from ID and AI, it is better to SaveAs PDF, since these have their own internal PDF generation capabilities.)
Also, with FM8, if you're making interactive PDFs (i.e. not for press), then it is ok to do the SaveAsPDF route, since FM has some post-processing modules that kick in to clean-up the .tps file prior to handing it over to Distiller. So, the process is no longer is identical to printing to file and distilling.
On the FM side, make sure that the tagged PDF setting is turned off in your PDF setup and have the setting for generating named destinations for all paragraphs enabled.
You also might want to download Sundorne's SetPrint ( http://www.sundorne.com/FrameMaker/Freeware/setPrint.htm  ) utility to ensure that you always have the same printer instance (AdobePDF) enabled when you start FM.
Have you also applied the MS hotfix for the PDF font issues? Details are available here: http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2008/07/hotfix_for_framemaker_1.html
Last desperation move would be to create a new custom PDF printer instance using the Distller PPD and a copy of the AdobePS installer.

  • Printing to Acrobat Pro 9

I am having an issue where certain files will not print to Acrobat. It doesn't ask for a name, then appears to go through the process of creating a PDF but does not create one. I know you can export, which I am forced to do but it interferes with the workflow I've created for consistency.
I am currently using IDCS4 & Acrobat Pro 9, but the same thing was happening with IDCS2.

Have you tried to actually print those documents to a real printer?
Could be something in the document causing a problem.
But... no way I'd ever send a flattened PDF to a client for
approval. Too many possible issues with flattening that could result in
a less than stellar on screen preview.
Fielding phone calls about those "little white lines" all over the place
    would drive me batty.

  • Printing from acrobat pro 9 with yosemite on iMac retina

My new iMac will not print an annotated form using a completely updated Acrobat Pro 9.5.5. Is there a driver that is missing? When I try to open the form in "Preview" it comes out garbled. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks for the push to getting a cache cleaner -- tried and will see if it keeps the problem in hand.

  • Will not print in Acrobat Pro

I cannot get any document to print in Adobe, but all other programs on my computer print fine. Should I reload? I have the Acrobat Pro one year subscription. If I reload, will it count that I have downloaded twice and not let me reload?

First of all, reinstalling will not count as a new subscription.
What is more important is for you to describe the symptoms to us? Exactly what happens when it doesn't print? What platform (computer type and OS) are you on? What type of printer are you trying to print to? Etc.?

  • How to show the layout option for double-sided printing on Acrobat Pro X on Mac?

Adobe Acrobat Pro X version 10.0.0 print dialog does not show the option to select Layout for two-sided (double-sided) printing. How to fix it?
System: Mac OS X 10.6.6 on Mactel
    Thanks.

    David,
Wow, it worked. Many thanks. This is what I did, following your directions to print PDF files as double-sided:
    01-Command P & Click "Printer button".
    02-Click Yes.
03-Click the Popup Arrow to display contents.
04-Select Two-sided "Long-Edge binding" or whatever needed and Click Print.
    05-Click OK to Print.
What fooled me is that from Word (.doc) files the screen on step 3 and 4 show directly selecting a popup menu on the initial print window, whereas when printing PDF files it is required to go through steps 1-2-3 above.
Again, many thanks. You made my day!!!

  • Printing Separations - Acrobat Pro 10 not an option?

I have InDesign CS5.5 on a MAC OS X and need to print separations.  However, in the print panel, the "print to" Acrobat PDF is not available as an option, and thus, I do not get the option to print seps. Also, PostScript does not show that option either.  And since I have an inkjet printer, its drivers will not recognize separations - the reason why I need to "print to PDF" so each color sep will print, complete with spot color name. Now... I could go back to my PC and use CS4 and I think it will work... but I would rather skip that step and just use cs5.5 on my Mac. Thanks for any ASAP help.

    @bluephy.....
Have a look on the link which is the Kb article by Adobe in which it explains that the Acrobat 9.1 update will remove the Adobe pdf printer on Mac os snow lopard.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/cant-print-pdfs-mac-os.html
and on the same basis the Acrobat X doesn't create the Adobe PDF printer and also doesn't provide Adobe 10 ppd.
This is not the change that came up with the Acrobat 10 , it started with the acrobat 9.1 update.
That was the reason i went ahead and provided you the workaround wherein you can have the Acrobat 9 ppd and can make the postscript file using the Indesign Print option. Once you will distill this .ps(postscript file) using Acrobat Distiller then it will make the pdf which can be used for printing from any application that suppport PDF.
Having Acrobat X application and having the Acrobat X PPD is completely different, PPD is the driver that is used to drive the Application for printing the PDF or Postscript. However it is Acrobat X is the appliaction .
On MAC,  the print as PDF was removed and Save as PDF was introduced, The steps I gave you are the workaround just because Acobat X ppd is not there, You could use the Acrobat 9 PPD to make the postscript and then convert(Distill) it to PDF as robday posted.
When You are following the steps please be aware of these things:-
---PPD's folder you craete under the /Applications/Adobe Indesign CS5/Presets/ is Case-Sensitive.
---Download the PPD file on the desktop first.
---Once saved the file, the name of the file should be "ADPDF9.PPD" , sometime on MAC some addtional text or extension gets added automatically while downloading the file.)PLEASE CHECK THE FILENAME AND EXTENSION
---Copy the file to the Corrct folder.
--Re-open the Indesign and then check.

Adobe has not released a copy of Acorbat that fully works with Windows 7 64bit and Office 2010.
Have you looked at "Save at PDF/XPS" in MS Office?
You may need to run the applications in the 32bit mode.
