Printing in Asian Font

My documents are printing in Asian font. I have HP officejet6310 all in one.   When I go into properties, then advanced, "Download Asian Fonts" is checked, but I'm unable to uncheck.
Any ideas?

Hi there cobb,
To check for any software problems lets try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
Best of Luck!

  • Uninstall Printer Drivers, Additional Fonts, Language Translations?

I just did an Archive and Install of 10.4 from 10.3.9, ran the combo updater to 10.4.3, and then upgraded to 10.4.4, but my only partly-caffeinated bad self installed all the extras Printer Drivers, Additional Fonts, and Language Translations when I did the original A and I of 10.4.
I neither want nor need all these extras. How should I go about rectifying this situation?
    Thanks!

You can also disable fonts using Font Book (in the /Applications folder). But be careful, as disabling the wrong fonts can cause problems with various applications. Such problems include programs unexpectedly quitting as soon as they are launched.
Note: I have had no problems disabling all of the Asian character fonts.

  • HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP printer cancellation of fonts

I have a technical question.  I developed my own word processing and printing programs starting with the original IBM and epson dot matrix printer and then the HP Laserjet printers.  Students a University of Pennsylvania and Princeton used my programs
to write their Ph. D. theses.  Now there are plenty of programs do to this but I have  kept my current.  Everything was fine until the printer listed in the title.  My program loads fonts in the printer.  The font # are 7000,7001,7002,7003,7004.
I choose these numbers so as not to interfere with other fonts.  My program runs in DosBox and sends data to the printer by writing to the file TRASH789.PCL in the directory C:\SPOOL and the program printfile (downloaded from the internet) spools the
file to the printer.  When my program begins it sends the esc sequence that selects the fonts.  Also I set the  line feed to be 1/2 a line feed.  (My programs works like a typewriter and subscripts and superscripts are just a 1/2 space
up or down.)   On all other HP printers for say 20 years everything is fine but with the printer mentioned above my font selection and 1/2 line feed are canceled.  Various sequences of character will cause this to happen.  It is pretty
random.  One sequence I have isolated is below.
                        a3  a3  a3
The a's can be upper or lower case.  There can be other characters between then etc.  But if the first few lines that at printed contain these characters the fonts and 1/2 line spacing are canceled.  If you put a paragraph before the a3,a3,a3
it will not happen.  It the a3's occur at the top of a new page it will happen.
I have tried various things to fix the error like repeatedly telling the printer to select my fonts, or loading an empty rasher of graphics a the top of the page but nothing works.   Fortunately for 95% of what I print it is not a
problem.  I have work around solutions, making a PDF file using GHOSTPCL, or using another program that uses rasher graphics.  (I wrote this some years ago when I bought a DESKJET printer.  Now computers are so fast that the time delay with
the rasher graphics program is hardly  noticeable.
I realize that the number of people with my problems can be counted on one hand so there is no great motivation for fixing this problem but given the other problems with this printer (I have seen mentioned on the web) it seems
to me there may be a connection.  (I only bought this printer, scanner, fax, etc)  because I had a grant that was expiring and I wanted to spend the money.  My guess is that will all the functions of this printer, probably set up by different
groups of people, the printer has glitches.  As someone who has spent years on my own programs I know it can take months to figure them out.  My only hope is that maybe this might help someone.
       Thanks for your attention.

    Hi treborpowers,
According to your description, you developped a program which runs in DosBox. When this program running, it sends request to DosBox, then DosBox sends request to Windows to call  Microsoft font 7000,7001,7002,7003, 7004, then Windows responds
this request, however, the program could not print the font in DosBox correctly. Right?
Since it is difficult to narrow down the issue is cause by Windows, in order to resolve this issue effectively, please get help from the professional forum about the programming language.
    Thanks for your understanding!

  • When I send an email in Thunderbird it looks fine, but when the recipient tries to print it, the font is unreadablly small. Is there a setting I need to fix?

I have Thunderbird version 24.3.0 downloaded to my Windows 7 computer.
When I send an email in Thunderbird it looks fine and when the recipient receives it, it looks fine on the screen, but when she tries to print it, the font is unreadably small. This happens on every email I send her, but not other people's emails she receives. It has happened on some of the emails I receive back from her that contain the information I sent her.
Is there a setting I need to fix or something I can do on my end to address this so this doesn't happen. She is receiving email through AOL online. I believe she is viewing it through either IE or Chrome.

I recently tried sending myself an email through Thunderbird to another email account to see if that was the case, but the email came in with a font so tiny that it was unreadable. I had chosen a font type and size (arial 10) and just coming into my outlook inbox was virtually unreadable.
And referring to the person I work with, she doesn't have problems getting anyone else's emails, just ones I send from Thunderbird.

  • Having Problem with Asian Fonts

I'm having a problem installing the packages ttf-arphic-ukai and ttf-arphic-uming.  They install fine, but it completely corrupts all my fonts.
Any new applications that are launched (or when KDE is relaunched) have nothing but boxes for the fonts, and, when I log out of KDE to KDM, everything appears as boxes.  If I log in to KDE and check out the Fonts section in KControl, it just crashes.
Thinking it was just a KDE issue, I installed Fluxbox, and it won't even start.
This is a brand new installed based off of the 0.7.2 base ISO, and I've updated everything completely.  Before the fonts are installed, everything is working perfectly.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

On Friday I started to develop a page that had japanese translation. I had no problems with it.
Anyway, I realized something that may help you. No matter what font i choosed, japanesse characters where allways showed, and they were always the same.
It means that asian fonts override standard fonts. What can be happening to you is that you don't have the fonts properly configured (either the fonts by themselves, or in Xorg).
I don't know enough about fonts to give you more information about it, but what you should do after reading this is uninstall all asiatic fonts, install japanese fonts, install kde-i18n-jp and create an a user account with KDE set to japanese language and see if it works well to you. If it does not work then the problem is in your configuration. If it works well then do the same with the asian fonts. If they are still not working then to me it looks as a bug, and you should report it.

  • Resetting font on PS CS4 to English - keep showing fonts in Asian font

Can anyone help me?, I keep resetting the font preference to English, but many of the second half of my font list in PS keeps showing in Asian fonts not allowing me to see what the font preview looks like at all. These same fonts are in English in Ai on my computer with no trouble seeing the preview in English, but when using PS, they are not understandable. These fonts include ( see attachment) Odd because many of the standard fonts are preview just fine and then the lower list still is unreadable as it remain in Asian font. Help?
    Thnaks - BIG Gratitude - K-Nine

Thanks Chris, but why can I see the preview perfectly of these very same font when I work in Ai, but now in Ps they remain in Asian script.
I love these fonts and can use them in Ai easily because I can see each one's preview in the scroll, but I can remember what they look like in Ps so I have to try each one out on some text to see what it looks like..it s a drag - any advice to get them to preview in Ps as the do in Ai? -Cheers

  • Printer Built-in fonts in java

    Hello,
I'm using Imaje 2000 Series Printer, when opening a new microsoft word document I can see some built in fonts specific to that printer like Imaje Arial, Imaje Times New Roman B, etc... I found out when printing with one of these fonts, the printing process is very fast. what happens is that I can see those fonts with name Imaje in MS word with printer icon attached to them, but in java i cant see them, and to check all fonts in java i used the below code :
    Font[] f = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getAllFonts();
    for (int i=0; i<f.length; i++) {
    System.out.println(f.getFontName());
if i try to set the font to Imaje Arial, java will neglect that font and print on the default I guess. Is there a way to use the printer built in fonts from within my java application

well, i cant find the font in windows fonts
directory, but when I open MS wrod i can find the
font (for example: Imaje Arial) in the fonts list and
has an icon of printer which means its not a true
type font. and please note that this font Imaje Arial
did not appear in MS word before installing the
printer driver.Well, if it's not installed and you can't find the file, how do you expect Java to do it?

  • Script for collecting Asian fonts

Was having issues with Asian fonts last week and asked a question on the InDesign side of the fence, and scripting came up, which brought me over here to ask if such a script existed for collecting Asian fonts.

Hi Peter-Thanks for your response. A big "duh" on me re: the checkbox option that exempts the CJK fonts. Thing is, this is my first foray into using asian fonts after 30 odd years in this business. I am aware of where they appear in the font list so I am sure that they werent loading.
I do believe in having the most organized and pristine font possible. I've tried hard w/getting the ones Im working with into what I consider good shape, but who knows. I have also read no these forums to dispose of the .lst files. I havent done that in ages-I didnt realize that that still had an effect on fonts so I guess I'll give that a try next. In the past, Ive had great succcess cleaning up fonts and working w/Suitcase and even Font Explorer. This Font Agent Pro seems flakey to me. It has real problems with opening fonts dynamically. I have had to restart the computer several times in order for them to be recognized. But, sometimes not even that helps. Yesterday, I resorted to putting the fonts I needed in the User/Lib/Fonts Folder.
I cant really say that it's one or just a few certain fonts that I notice being problematic-it varies from doc to doc. Thank you for your input. Much obliged.

In Preview Second page onwards also looks perfect. Now we are in a fix what to do to come out of this issue.

  • Asian fonts display in font book but show as Western fonts in apps!

Adobe apps still display Asian fonts as Western characters, even though I've changed language settings via the "international" control panel of System Preferences. Perhaps I have not done this correctly? I've restarted the machine after changes to Systems language prefs. Asian and other calligraphic fonts are all installed and display fine in Font Book. Is there a fix?

As my aim is to access character sets without the
need to change the language settings on my machine
That's exactly what Character Palette does.
think the ideal solution is to get a copy of
Fontographer and copy all the decorative fonts and
    save them as standard fonts.
A total waste of time in my view.
    True Futhark has several
characters that stand for phonetics not compatible
with plain roman alpha/qwerty keyboard use. I
understand the same is true of other fonts-there are
    bound to be discrepancies.
Most of the characters in the world are not compatible with qwerty keyboard use. That's why in general people don't use that method to produce them, or try to jigger fonts so they might be able to.
    Perhaps this is why so
many characters come up as "?" even when inserted
    via the Finder's character palette?
This may be because your app is set to Latin-1 or some other limited encoding. It should be set to UTF-8. Try Character Palette with TextEdit and you will not get any ?'s.
Control+T does nothing in Adobe apps, as far as I can
see. Apple+T brings up the Type palette but there is
no "insert special character" option there.
I got that wrong. The combo for Apple apps is Option + Apple + T. I don't know if that works in Adobe (don't use them myself).
    I did notice a wonderful
Tibetan font that must be on my machine somewhere,
though it does not show up in Font Book under "All
    Fonts"!
These are part of the ST series of Chinese fonts. If you go to the Tibetan range in Character Palette you can see this and you can also input them in TextEdit or a UTF-8 doc. Or you can examine the contents of an ST font by putting Character Palette in glyph mode.
I guess ideally, for graphics use, one should get the
characters into a standard font file, as I suggest
above, and then type away merrily qwerty-style.
Some Asian scripts have thousands of characters. Using a qwerty keyboard to try to access a few of them from a recoded font is not something that anyone does as far as I know. They use a specialized Input Method or the Character Palette or a similar utility. Also unless you are truly transforming your output into graphics/photos, your input would be seen as qwerty on other machines.
suppose these decorative fonts are available on the
web somewhere, where those who sell them have gone to
the trouble of transcribing the characters in to an
    'ordinary' font for you?
    Never seen such things myself.
It seems a shame that Macs OSX can't grant you access
to all these decorative fonts (indeed, to all
installed fonts) in a more straight forward manner.
The Character Palette is the most straightforward manner possible for accessing such scripts, if you do not want to switch keyboard layouts. All computer system use a similar mechanism. It even has a Favorites section where you can store characters you want to use frequently so you can avoiding looking them up each time. If you have some specific problems using it, I'd be glad to help, here or by email (click on my name for the address).
Am I correct in these assumptions?
No, I think all of them are wrong myself.

  • HT2523 TextEdit always displays in an Asian font.

Whenever I try to open a document with TextEdit that's been created on a different computer, or downloaded, it displays with an Asian font. (My guess is Japanese.)
So, for example, if I create a document in TextEdit on my work computer and save it on Dropbox, when I get to this computer and open the document, it opens up with all of the text in Japanese. If I drag the document to Word and open it there, it opens and is in English and is just fine -- but I don't understand why it's opening ALL TextEdit documents using the wrong font. This happens with readme files downloaded from online, too. I just can't open documents with TextEdit!
I've checked what font is default, and it's Monaco and Helvetica.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's causing this and how to fix it? I'm running 10.6.8 on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac.

Such problems normally have nothing to do with fonts, but relate to encodings.  Asian characters may mean the encoding is set to UTF-16.  Check TextEdit/Preferences/Open and Save/Plain Text File Encodings/Opening Files.

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat Printing Issues - Weird Fonts / Characters - all versions

    Hi everybody.
I'm experiencing a very nasty issue with both adobe reader (last version) and acrobat.
When I print something with text, i get only strange characters, mostly symbols.
I cannot get out of this, I tried everything.
    Already tried
    1) print as image does not works, it's the same
    2) the box in pdf printer " print only with fonts on pc" is checked
    3) reinstalled both adobe applications
    3) reinstalled printer drivers
    4) i've installed and reinstalled those so called missing fonts but nothing
Next step is to change PDF reader. Any help?

    unfortunately it didn't work.
It's weird how an application (company) like this could not provide those kind of such easy fixes. I'm not expecting updates or so, but at least a troubleshooting paragraph about this specific problem.
This problem is well known, there are plenty of pages talking about it.
I just installed Foxit reader and printed pages were perfect. This demonstrate's Adobe Reader/Acrobat fault.
