The pull down menu is grayed out. Even with “printer manages color” the tif or jpg image comes out in color overlaid with black. (See example - printer1. image on left is close to what it should be). Photoshop has no updates pending. I’ve downloaded the latest Epson driver which was working fine just before the problem occurred

Is your Photoshop CS5 updated to 12.1?
Are you on Yosemite 10.10.1 or Yosemite 10.10.2?
Did you apply the recent Epson software 2.1.9 update?
What type of file is it (file format)?  What bit depth and what color space?

  • RFE - Bring more color to the console

    Hi,
first posting it here so people can discuss it.
What i would like to propose is bringing a little more color in the default archlinux console:
    * [user@host ~] $ colors
    * grep --color=auto colors
And to give an idea how that looks:
    Grep colors
    Console colors
And this is how i did that (in .bashrc):
    # Check for an interactive session
    [ -z "$PS1" ] && return
    alias ls='ls --color=auto'
    alias grep='grep --color=auto'
    PS1='\033[01m[\033[0m \u\033[01;37m @ \033[0m\h \033[36m\W \033[01;37m]\033[0;32m \$\033[0m '
Now i would propose that this gets included in archlinux itself so every new arch user can enjoy these fancy colors ^_^
This can probably done by editing the global bashrc or the user .bashrc but i leave that up to the people that know what's best.
Let me know what you think of this idea.
Btw. for the grep color. That adjustment is already in bashrc for ls.. but not for grep, so it makes sense to me to include grep..
    Regards,
    Mark

While I can see that it is exciting for you to discover these possibilities, I firmly recommend not enabling them by default.
    1. It is not the Arch way:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The_Arch_Way wrote:The Arch Linux system places precedence upon elegance of design as well as clean, simple code, rather than unnecessary patching, automation, eye candy or "newbie-friendliness"
    2. It is easy enough for anyone to do. I assume most Arch users already do similar configuration and/or customization to their console behaviour. See #1.
    3. It can break functionality for people that use retarded terminals.
    4. It is a matter of taste. A lot of people prefer gray on black terminals, and that's the traditional style too. If the user wants it different, (s)he may change it according to her wishes (see #1).

  • How do I Print Accurate Color from Lightroom?

I just got my Epson 3880 2 weeks ago.  The problem I am having is getting accurate color when printing from Lightroom.  I am running a p.c. with Windows 8.1.  To eliminate my monitor as the problem, I created a series of color patches in Photoshop, printed them and read them in using the X-Rite Color Munki Photo.  Here is a list of thing I have done:
    1) I chose Lightroom manages color, chose the appropriate icc profile in Lightroom, chose the appropriate paper in the printer dialogue box, and choose no color management in the printer dialogue box.  The results are as follows:

Printing from Windows Photo Viewer – Printer Manages Color
Did I miss something in the Lightroom print section?
Message was edited by: David Nestico.  Rather than just posing a list of numbers, I summarized what I thought was important.  All data is there in case someone smarter than me can make more sense of it :)

I thought my problem could be Lightroom is in ProphotoRGB color space, and my printer is Adobe1998 color space.  To test this, I changed the color space of my patches from prophoto to AdobeRGB. I checked my colors in Photoshop, and made them match the RGB number I specified.  It was interesting to note that (128,128,255) had a noticeable shift to purple.  the other colors shifted slightly.  Now I printed the test page with Lightroom managing color and the printer managing color.  Both images came out similar.
This study came about when I was printing some images, and the sky had a definite purple shift.  So, I took the image into Photoshop and converted the colorspace from prophoto to Adobe.  Printed the image, and the image came out much better.
So the question now is, do I need to convert each image I print in Photoshop, or am I doing something wrong in Lightroom?

  • Color laserjet CP1525nw won't print in color

I installed both the PCL6 and PostScript drivers on my Surface Pro 3 to print to my Color LaserJet CP1525nw.  The printer is connected to my router.  The printer prints but only in grayscale.  What can I do to be able to print in color and continute to print through my router?
    This question was solved.

    Hi @PaDunc ,
I see that you are experiencing issues printing in color from the printer connected to the router. I would be happy to help you.
Please clarify, if the printer is connected to the router by a ethernet or USB cable?
Did you install just the Universal Print Drivers or did you try the Full Feature Software also?
I would recommend the Full Feature Software if that isn't one of the drivers you have already tried.
Try and print the Supplies Status page to see if you have color, just to rule out a hardware issue.
Printing or Viewing the Supplies Status Page.
Make sure the greyscale option isn't enabled in the print driver.
    1. From Devices and Printers, right click your printer.
    2. Then click the Printer Properties, Preferences button.
    3. Click the Color tab.
    4. Make sure Print in Grayscale isn't checked.
    Did the colors print?
    What are the toner levels?
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
Try these steps in this document, to see if it will resolve the issue.

  • Color Doc w/Gray Gradient Prints as Color/B&W

    Hi,
I work for a print shop. We have a a client that sends us PDF's of color documents, which was originally created in Microsoft Word. The document I am printing this time has a gray background gradient and color graphics. When I send it to print to our Ikon CPP650, the color graphics print fine, but the gray gradient appears to be printing using only black toner. It thus looks very grainy and ugly. I want ALL graphics to print in color, even the gray gradient.
Any idea if this is a problem in the PDF file, or my print driver?? I have tried checking all the settings in my print driver and don't see anywhere that I can change this. It has an option to print gray as black instead of CMYK, but that is unchecked. I have tried converting the colors in Acrobat to "US Web Coated (SWOP) v2", and checking "Promote Gray to CMYK Black", but with no change in the print results. Any suggestions?

What does the Seperation's in Acrobat show....I think it would be tough to force a black tint to cmy....
Not a great work around, but AA Pro (maybe Standard) will allow you to select a pixel based image, automatically open it in PS , edit, . Change it's color mode from Grayscal to CMYK (or RGB?), close the graphic, it will automatically refresh in Acrobat.
Tested in AA Pro, 9.4.5, (cept I changed color graphic to gray)

  • Color Report prints in Color from Viewer, Black & White when send to PDF

RE: Crystal Report sent to PDFBlaster
    Hi,
I have a Crystal Report that contains a Color Logo. The particular problem that I am facing concerns sending the report to PDFBlaster.
When PDF BLaster is selected as the "PRinter" from the Crystal Viewer Print Button, the report is rendered in color. However if the PDFBlaster is selected from my Windows form, and SelectPRinter is used to print the report to PdfBlaster, the report is rendered in Black and White.
I noticed that this happens if my default printer is Black and White printer. IF the default printer is color , then the report is rendered in color regardless of whether it is printed from the Viewer or not.
Is there a setting that I can use to preserve the Report's properties? It seems to me that I am losing the "color" properties of the report when I use the ReportObject.SelectPrinter method.
    Thanks in advance for help/advice.

    Hello,
    Moved to Legacy SDK forum.
You did not say what version of CR and I don't believe this is .NET either so I moved your post where the RDC is posted. In any event what you discovered is what likely you need to do. Add another printer and set the default option to print color. Then when your app selects the printer use that printer.
CR Engines do not have a specific API to set the Color option, you select/set it in code first.
    Thank you

  • Not printing in color at all...

I am a teacher and have been trying to print in color on my printer and everything is coming out in black and white. I have already changed the toner cartidges and ran test pages and "cleaned" it. Each color cartidge is showing at 100% but no matter what setting I play with, it won't print in color. Please let me know how I can fix this. Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi @uniquekds ,
I see that you are having issues printing in color from the computer. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue, but I will need some more information.
I am assuming you were able to print the Supply Status page in color then, is that correct?
It is just from the computer, that you are unable to print in color.
You can try these steps to make sure the grayscale isn't selected in the print driver. Depending on which model that you have it may be a little different.
1.From the software program, select the Print option.
    2. Select the product, and then click the Properties or Preferences button.
    3. Click the Color tab.
    4. Click the Automatic setting.
    5. Make sure that Print in Grayscale option is unchecked.
    6. Click the OK button.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. http://www.hp.com/go/tools>Using HP Diagnostic Tools for HP Printers in Windows.

What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
There are a few Laserjet 200 series printers.

  • Pro 8600 e-All-in-One won't scan or print in color

    Hi,
The printer used to print in color, and the scanner used to scan to color. That has stopped.
    (1) Plenty of color ink.
    (2) There's also a problem of losing wireless connectivity (I see the Forum has a fix -- I haven't tried that yet).  When I open Print And Scan Doctor 4.3, and tell it to FIX PRINTER, it prints in color just fine.  So, I place that color-printed page on the flatbed but it scans in black and white (and shows in the preview as black and white).
    (3) And, in HP Printer Assistant, when I go to SCAN A DOCUMENT OR PHOTO, the dialogue box shows OUTPUT TYPE as COLOR but still scans only in black-and-white.
    Help.

  • Officejet 8600 is there an easy way to print in color occasionally?

I have an HP Officejet 8600 connected by cable to an un-networked desktop running Windows 7 Pro. I have the default set to  "Print in Gray Scale" with "Black Ink Only". I would like an easy way to occasionally print in color without the multi-step hassle of going through advanced options that also change the default parameters each time. Is there a way to install a second driver for the same printer? That way I could name one "HP 8600 Black Ink" and one "HP 8600 Color" with different default settings. That would be a much easier way to occasionally print in color. My previous HP printer had the capability to select custom "Presets" from a drop-down menu, but that seems to be missing from the 8600 software.

Hello there @SKman , Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I understand you are looking for an easier way to occasionally print in color with your Officejet 8600. I would like to share my suggestions that may help you with your concern.
First of all, you can have two drivers installed on your computer, one USB and one wireless, and have the driver settings different (wireless driver to print black only and the USB driver to print in color).
The other option for you to try is to have your "black ink only" setting selected in the print driver itself (seems like you have it set this way currently) so all jobs will automatically print in black ink only. When say you are printing a document in color, change the print settings in the program you are printing from to print in color for that single job, that way the default settings in the printer driver are still set to print in black and only that one job will print in color.
I hope my post was helpful!

  • C7280 Yellow is full but will not print in color

I have been searching all the forums and internet for this problem so I will post.
I have a C7280 that will not print in yellow. I have put in two new printer cartridges but I continue to get this message.
To print in color replace the following cartridges
    Yellow
Other click to print in Black.
I have cleaned each cartridge pins wiht distilled water on a qtip, I have put the printer through cleaning cycles, but I still get the message about the yellow cartridge.
Can anyone help me with this?

Figures, as you are the first to read my question. I guess I will take it back to Best Buy since I purchased the extended warranty and get a new printer. I can't do without the color. I will have to return the new cartridges I just purchased from HP too.

  • Computers on Leopard will not print in color with Okidata C7350 printer

Does anyone know if there is a solution to printing in color using the Okidata C7350 with Macs on Leopard? Our school has 60 MacBooks running 10.5.9 and several iMacs running 10.6.2. When printing color pictures to the Okidata C7350, we can only print in black and white. Previous Operating Systems still print in color.

I didn't see it mentioned yet: you may want to check if the new drivers have a setting to "restrict color". I haven't used that model of printer, but on most other color printers I've used, there's a setting for "disable color" or "grayscale only". For example, on my HP Color Laserjet 4005:

This is sometimes a setting "per computer" and not necessarily "per printer". The default on the new drivers may have been changed to B&W only by Okidata for some reason.
    Just a suggestion, anyway.

  • Can you change the color of the page?

Can you change the color of the page using In Design CS5.5 ?
    How?

Are you intending to print a color onto the page to change the color or perhaps you need a colored background for onscreen output? Or are you planning on printing on already-colored stock?
For the former, use Scott's suggestion, for the latter edit the Paper swatch.
